10101  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Setup & Troubleshoot] Bitmain AntMiner S1 180GH/S miner on: April 01, 2014, 10:44:01 PM
Weird: I also have one miner not responding (cannot log into it) with message:

/usr/lib/lua/luci/dispatcher.lua:448: Failed to execute function dispatcher target for entry '/'.
The called action terminated with an exception:
/usr/lib/lua/luci/sauth.lua:87: Session data invalid!
stack traceback:
   [C]: in function 'assert'
   /usr/lib/lua/luci/dispatcher.lua:448: in function 'dispatch'
   /usr/lib/lua/luci/dispatcher.lua:195: in function </usr/lib/lua/luci/dispatcher.lua:194>

I haven't done any updates. Miner still mines apparently so i hate to switch it off.
Anybody? Should I just reboot it or it is something more serious
10102  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Setup & Troubleshoot] Bitmain AntMiner S1 180GH/S miner on: April 01, 2014, 10:01:33 PM
Also, does anybody know how to reduce the fanspeed a bit? It's quite loud.

The simplest solution is to decrease your ambient temperature (if you set up room temp at 20C/72F, fans would quiet a lot).
I played with three different fans and they all resulted in more errors in my case.
That said, ants need their own room/basement/attic. Being in the same room, they will give you a headache after a day or two  Wink
10103  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Setup & Troubleshoot] Bitmain AntMiner S1 180GH/S miner on: April 01, 2014, 09:57:24 PM
Hey Folks,

Can someone please do me a favour? I'm on a restricted computer for the next eight or nine hours, and I can get to direct links, but not main domains, oddly enough.

I have the Corsair CX600. Can someone please post a direct link, on either Amazon or Newegg, to the PCI-e extenders I need to cut to power S1s? I would really appreciate it.

Somebody already posted it, but you don't need to cut anything in later models. The bitcointalk dogie and sushi reviews were not updated. Watch youtube video (Jeremy) to see. Plug-and-play!

gullibility - everyone who ever ordered a pre-order asic.

yes, i'm guilty of this.  Angry

Me too...
Honestly, it looked like such a good idea in late Nov-early Dec. I wonder how many refunded. Sometimes I feel like a last one with batch#1 order (I refunded the second Neptune). At $13200+~$1500(electricity for 6mo of operation)=$14700, it is enough to purchase ~30 BTC today hassle free. The upside in mining is the miner itself. You might be able to mine 15, maybe 20 BTC in case of May delivery. The residual cost of miner (in $$ would depend on BTC price at sell point). You can return all $$ spent if you are lucky (BTC going up instead of down) plus keep BTC (minus taxes).
10105  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: April 01, 2014, 03:23:43 PM
Well in case anyone is wondering, they're still processing refunds without problems, I just asked for a refund of a Neptune (CA batch) and they said it'll be processed shortly...

The problem is you have recieved it yet?

J

I had a pretty good (actually, excellent) experience with refund-6 calendar days between providing bank details and getting money.

10106  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Is this noise level for the Antminer S1 normal? on: April 01, 2014, 12:28:37 AM
Everything in the video.

Please comment.

Should I be worried?

(please forgive the horrible video quality. It's an old webcam)

Antminer's fan should not go full tilt after restart. It is almost completely silent for a few seconds, then accelerates to less than 2900 rpm (2200-2600 rpm is more like it). Make sure that it is connected properly to four pins. It could be a rare case of a faulty fan in your machine. Sorry for your trouble.
10107  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: March 31, 2014, 11:16:36 PM
I know that technical details are important, but what we don't know is what will be the hashing power and energy usage.
---SNIP---

I'm guessing total @ wall a bit above 2kW
Definately need 200+ VAC circuit for most situations.
A 15A 220VAC(ASSuMEd USA power std.) circuit would be minimum I'd consider for a single Neptune.

YMMV
Smiley

I have only 15A/120V circuits where I want to host it  Undecided, but I can probably use two of them, though; each should be enough for 12.5X120=1500W
I cannot use the"sacred" dryer (240V/30A) circuit, hence I can only host one Neptune in the best case scenario.
10108  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Earnings on: March 31, 2014, 10:35:12 PM
So what kind of btc are you guys cranking out with 1 ant at ~200Gh/s?
Pool says my average is 187Gh/s which I am OK with
I'm at 375MHz (400 gave two-three xxx on ASICS status so I turned it down a little bit)

My BTC seems low compared to what I calculated before going into this crazy experiment called mining Cheesy
Eyeballing 0.012 - 0.015 BTC / day, haven't done an hourly calculation yet.

Thanks for any feedback!

Don't eyeball-eligius gives precise statistics. At 187 it should be ~0.0184-0.0187.
10109  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: March 31, 2014, 10:22:08 PM
Do they have 20nm asics ready?

I hear Nvidia has delayed 20nm parts till 2015, and I very much doubt knc can get them before Nvidia does.

Something does not compute, because a fine swedish lady from customers support gave an assurance of Q2 shipping  Wink
10110  Economy / Speculation / Re: rpietila Wall Observer - the Quality TA Thread ;) on: March 31, 2014, 10:13:04 PM
but remember this; there are 12 million millionaires in the world, and 1500 billionaires. there are only 21 million bitcoins, and I imagine most of those people dont have any.

This thought occur to me as well. What to do for millionaires?
Ignore bitcoin and try to eliminate it OR try to slowly accumulate some?
I hope for scenario #2.
The numbers I have seen indicate 29mil millionares with total capital of $89 trln (89X10^10).
1% of of 89 trln is 890bil.
So, 13-14 (2014-2015) mil bitcoins have to reach 890bil in order for millionares to allocate 1% of their capital to bitcoin.
As such, bitcoin HAS to reach $63-68K/BTC, otherwise not enough value to allocate even 1% of millionaire's capital.
If you count based on a full 21mil of bitcoins with later allocation, then minimal value is $42K/BTC.

bought a few more today Wink
trying to get a leg up on that rush
10111  Economy / Speculation / Re: rpietila Wall Observer - the Quality TA Thread ;) on: March 31, 2014, 09:58:17 PM

Yes, it was the best in the entire world.

Buy for $1 and sell for $100.

Nothing else came close.

I guess it worked better for Zuckerberg's friend (Severin) who gave Zuck 19K to buy servers.
He is hanging out in Singapore with a few billions right now without having done much later on for FB success.
Angel investment is the best!
$19K in time of Lazslo's pizza would be worth more than ALL bitcoins then in existence; it was and still is less than 19mil of them in existence vs number required to cover 19K in 2009.
10112  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Setup & Troubleshoot] Bitmain AntMiner S1 180GH/S miner on: March 31, 2014, 07:27:29 PM
One of my ants shows a significant difference in hashing between what miner software is showing (191) and what eligius pool is showing (187) over the same timeframe (12hr). Is this a fee or something wackier?
10113  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: March 31, 2014, 07:12:41 PM
I know that technical details are important, but what we don't know is what will be the hashing power and energy usage.
At BTC $456, S1 is $2.26/GH with 5day delivery. I want a new cool machine as much as anyone, but it has to be 5 TH delivered now. I would also appreciate some sort of compensation-they are not legally have to do it, but considering the datorhall impact, it would be a good gesture. Something like 2-2.5 TH free from the datorhall until presumably late May delivery for batches 0(CA) and 1. Anything short of this and refunds will continue until only 20-25% are left (according to poll on knc website). I think that they have something coming soon as far as policy is concerned because they suddenly posted that refund problems have been resolved.
10114  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Setup & Troubleshoot] Bitmain AntMiner S1 180GH/S miner on: March 30, 2014, 11:49:38 PM

I'm for the moment looking at installing one of these on the exhaust side when I get my proper power supply.

That fan is only 66cfm, I believe the S1 fans are 130CFM.  I tried putting in some 120mm 95CFM fans on the output and they seemed to be blocking the airflow more than assisting as the miners ran a few degrees hotter.

I have ordered a fan that is purported to be similar to the stock S1 fans and will report back once I get it

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004YELGR4/
I wonder where you go for something that high without the loud hum of decibels at that level.

I had found something with 130 but it didn't specify pins and had no reviews.

What are these fans considered ? Are they server fans as is why I can't find something on newegg close to that level.

I put a second fan on (corsair Sp120) and it actually made everything much worse, I've got a lot of X and speed dropped. I removed the second fan and simply OC'ed to 375 MHZ instead of 393 or 400. It did not affect the temp (at least I do not see much difference). I think that room temp is much more important than extra fans.
10115  Economy / Speculation / Re: rpietila Wall Observer - the Quality TA Thread ;) on: March 30, 2014, 10:31:52 PM

(1) This is one requirement for a bottom, similarly as everybody saying "up" is a prerequisite for a top.
(2) I have developed a wonderful proof that this is not true, but sadly my time does not allow to elucidate.
(3) Actually it seems that ask sum is drying up and there is very much (15k) bids in 400-470. Anyway these are easily manipulated.
(4) As well as their coins. This is typical for a bottom.
(5) I don't believe there is any additional "drying up" left in China. If someone wants out, he is already out. If someone wants Bitcoin, he is in.
(6) It takes 12-24 months on average from hearing to acting. That's why the upside will be so explosive (like 2013/1-4 as a result of 2011)
(7) Yes, in the bottom the news reactions are bad no matter what happens.
(8 ) Every day we go lower, there has to be new sellers selling a growing number of coins to satisfy even stagnant demand. I would not bet it happening indefinitely.

RE point#8. Large and growing mining farms sell ALL of their output. For example, KnC farm sells at least ~10%  of all mined coins daily or $0.5 mil daily. There might be more doing exactly the same.
10116  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: March 30, 2014, 03:06:45 AM

Wow that's a great story. I hope the owner of bitcointalk.org bars Hashfast from attempting to sell/rip off anyone else from this site.
Self proclaimed... “industry leader in bitcoin mining technology”. It's Deja-Vu
I remember many people bailing on Jupiter orders for Baby Jets, and how long the arguments went on and on for weeks and weeks how HashFast was gonna smash KNC... and so was Cointerra. Meanwhile, BFL created a whole new category of company.
Is it outlandish to think Spooners will be are likely to be late?

at least HF is within US territory... allowing it to be stopped. I hope BFL is next.... They are overdue

BUT....  I don't see HOW they can "Freeze" a wallet without the api key.. anyone?
or even WITH the api key. The "freeze" function does not exist. they would have to transfer it to a state held wallet, no?

They don't need to revoke physical access to the key.   If coins move from the address, then it's contempt of court and possible fines plus jail time.  I imagine if they were stupid enough to do something like that then the court would start freezing bank accounts or tangible assets.
ahh, sounds like a voluntary "house arrest" deal hehe.. makes sense tho.
I wonder now if this new prescience will spread to other states housing ASIC manufacturers.
My guess is that this may be "The beginning of the End" for preordered ASICS, which I wouldn't mind a bit.

I hate to say that, but you can buy 1TH right now with 4-5 days delivery (5 ants with medium over clock) for $2200, or $2400 without overclock. In lieu of plunging bitcoin prices, it might or might not be a good purchase, I am just showing an example of a price war. With low bitcoin price high priced miners with multi month preorder are in trouble.
10117  Economy / Speculation / Re: Anyone have any idea why the price continues to fall? on: March 29, 2014, 09:47:18 PM
My only idea is mass panic. Why are people selling? Is there no demand left for bitcoin? Where will it recover?

A simple explanation: we have large miners (Carlson 8%, bitfury-10-20%, cloudhashing, KnC 10-20%) constantly on the sell side, but nobody large, except BIT, on the buy side, hence the drift downwards. Until bitcoin ETFs are established, this will continue unabated. I think that bitcoin had entered some kind of vicious cycle that could continue for months (already 4 months running).

true, but for the hardware manufacturer if the price drops too much they will never sell another hardware again, hard math though

...and they do have difficulty already.
10118  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: March 29, 2014, 09:03:58 PM
with these btc value

is not worth to buy any miner

we must wait Tongue Tongue

true, but all hardware companies sell only preorders with the exception of one Bitmain product/S1
Mining is a great hobby, but unrewarding when you try to make more serious money.
I wanted to mine a few coins to contribute to the process of creating 21mil BTC-you can realistically do it in the next few years (most likely just a couple of years) if you wanted to mine a single WHOLE bitcoin (a part of plant a tree, have a child, write a book...mint a bitcoin ideology).
For savings I can just buy BTC-this way I would have much better tax treatment.
10119  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: March 29, 2014, 08:35:15 PM
I had realized something:

the whole purpose of scrypt miner by KnC is to create the demand for BTC that they are selling from the datorhall.
Think about it, scrypt miners using fast Titan will mine large amounts of LTC, which they will immediately convert to BTC (at least 90%), providing a nice bid for BTC KnC is selling weekly.

That's why we are bombarded by info on how wonderful Titan will be and absolutely nothing on Neptune.
Neptune in the hands of customers will COMPETE with datorhall, hence no incentive of providing it early or with improved characteristics and this is why it is absolutely unethical for all hardware companies to mine on a large scale.

Read messages on knC board-people are almost hysterical now.
