1021  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: {Warning}: Fake Yusaku Maezawa ETH and BTC Giveaway on: February 07, 2020, 03:38:58 AM
I think this is an old form of scam, mostly this are use on airdrops that if you send like .0001 eth or btc you will get a token or a coin in return, lots of people fall for it, since airdrop in 2017 is so popular, now they use it in almost the same way now, but with an identity I think the person in the picture don't know its happening, anyway thank you sir for this information , helpful for newbies in crypto world
1022  Other / Beginners & Help / Wondering why account are hack or stolen? HTTP VS HTTPS on: February 07, 2020, 01:08:42 AM
Lots of people are very curious about anything specially in the world wide web, curious that sometimes lead as to something bad or disaster
compromise your security for banks , and emails
First is accounts are being hack and leads to hacking of other accounts that is register to that email
HTTP: if you are just browsing on the site that is HTTP or hyper text transfer protocol - there is a possibility that you will be just fine , if the site is http and you never login anything or username and password, example is in the train if all in the train is British they can hear everything loud and clear since in the same language.
but if you are logging in the site using any credential that is a different story, there is probability of 80-90% you will be hack here is a figure below explain why

as you can see your username and password are expose, you if a hacker manages to get there your in for a roller coaster ride
Hackers are bombing those ports trying to pass through a level of security which is very easy for them,

How to make sure you are safe when logging in to banks, mails with important information?
HTTPS Hyper text transfer protocol Secure everything runs in this are encrypted and no one can see the username and password,
example of this are if you were an engineer or an architect and there is two computer technician talking you don't understand their terms
but you can hear them in the figure below shows how HTTP and HTTPS are seen by the hacker

upload pic

As you can see how important it is when you are logging to a certain site be sure its https not http
like bitcointalk we are https so we are sure that its safe

The image above shows that the  password is hidden bitcointalk

upload images

Im not saying that https sites are totally secure because hackers do have their ways and its up to the support of the site how they manages all the securities to make everything unhackble, but its better to use https than https, so the next time you need to login to a site make sure its https
specially banks and other sites that we visit, its better safe than never , hope this simple post helps everyone

Note: It does not mean that if the site is https you will simply login your credential make sure the address is correct, double checking is better because sometimes impostor sites are also a big problem, always look into small details for security purpose

thanks.

1023  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What to do to avoid phishing sites on: February 07, 2020, 12:17:19 AM
this is a very helpful post mostly we don't look at the header or address sometimes we just click the link and wolah we are now a victim of phishing sites
we should also check who and where it came from since emails are the target of this , it will send to you and ask you to visit the site, example there is a reward, which is very eye catching for a potential victim, thanks for this post i hope everyone will be safe from now on

1028  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Private Key - Miners on: February 04, 2020, 05:28:31 AM
They dont have the power to get your private keys, the only way others can get your keys is when they hack your pc, or they stole your hard drive, which is impossible
1029  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: {WARNING} Cybersecurity vulnerabilities/flaws: Linux and Mac users (04.02.20). on: February 04, 2020, 01:43:20 AM
Sudo Bug Lets Non-Privileged Linux and macOS Users Run Commands as Rootnew
Added> 04.02.20

sudo should not be given to a user, or don't need to be run everytime, that is why mostly of users in example in a company should have only standard user
because if a user have sudo previlleges he can run or install anything even with an untrusted source, mostly if you install ubuntu, or other linux os there is no need to put a lot of software because its already install
what you just need, is an update and and your done.

I've been using Windows for about a decade now and I am planning to switch to another Operating System which is similar on how Windows Operates. I am currently using Windows for academic purposes such as writing document in MS Office Products, programming using Dev C++, Photoshop etc. These application are crucial since I am studying Computer Engineering and needed an OS that can handle IDE application and similar products like AutoCAD.

Can anyone suggest a different OS that maintains its user friendly interface and can provide similar function from Windows?

However, is it possible to install two OS in one PC?

Yes it is possible, even if you are in ubuntu, and you want to install windows you can do it, simple make a partition or free up a space, just like windows and install
its a bit tricky from the start, but you can do it since there are lots of tips and help in the community
1031  Other / Meta / Re: 6000+ posts and 0 merit...and the winner 🥇 is... on: February 03, 2020, 01:47:42 PM
im a bit concern that the person is not getting what he/she deserve so i search for the person's post, discussion, that started
the guy 6000 post is almost a report of the campaign or post in alternate crypto currency , and only one topic started, to be honest
he's lucky he got some merit, but maybe he is just in to campaign in the first place thats why he join, but i think no need to spend time
to post about him, let him be and lets just concentrate good luck to us

yes you can I can suggest use ubuntu, den install virtualbox then run windows inside,

I doubt you can run windows application which need 3D/GPU acceleration from VirtualBox. IIRC VirtualBox have limited 3D/GPU acceleration support.
yes you can run windows application on linux just use playonlinux

I use Wine/PlayOnLinux & i know those have good 3D/GPU acceleration, but those aren't part of VirtualBox.
yes correct, playonlinux can be run ubuntu, itself, means even without using virtualbox you can run windows application, I can also play dota2 with ubuntu, without any issue sorry I answer both question the last time
1034  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: If I want to explain to a 10 years boy.what is blockchain?How should I explain? on: February 03, 2020, 05:41:25 AM
teach him how to program, just like people in india some are so young even microsoft offer them a job, learning programming , will make him understand what blockchain is, at the same time, there are fun ways to teach via blockchain, these are ways to make them enjoy learning , this way they will ask for more, unlike what I see from othere they force them to learn it , and the result is not good unlike if they enjoy it
1035  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Why KYC is extremely dangerous – and useless on: February 03, 2020, 05:22:21 AM
Kyc have some good side, but mostly if its turns out to be in the hands of bad people things are going from good to worse
why? informations are there which can be use for fraud acts, also can be use to steal money, because of this information,  I dont agree that its useless because as I said there are good use , example are for bank, this will be use for securing you account, yes its also a kyc, also its a protection example if your account been hack, you can use it to protect or open your account
1036  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: How to protect yourself from fake giveaways. on: February 03, 2020, 04:35:56 AM
How to know if the giveaways are legit
1. There is a fund assign for a project
2. well known and trusted person of the project.
3. The group of people in a giveaways is not been accuse of fraud or any form.
4. They have successful projects before and no issue encounter.
5. links of the projects don't bring you to a group , or something that add you to group telegram to be a member with no connection to the project.

I think this should looks like , for me

1039  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Ransomware and all kinds of attack, in our computer asking for btc payment on: February 02, 2020, 01:48:14 PM
there are lots of flavors for linux which you can use and since it has also became user friendly over the years they are now lots of desktops

The Linux is not user friendly and those who are used to windows will find it awkward to use any flavor of Linux. I studied Linux as a part of my Masters but i never used it on my personal system. In our country, the pirated windows are easily avaible along with cracks and hence we can easily use windows 10 without the license.
yes there are lots of users familliar with windows, but using linux  flavors is easy specially if you are just into, browsing and reading creating documents, i think you study the server side, that's cli/terminal, but its good , maybe you have known a lot in linux, but as an alternative and also when it comes to protection, i'll go with linux specially if you can use it without thinking of the license
1040  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Ransomware and all kinds of attack, in our computer asking for btc payment on: February 02, 2020, 01:26:03 PM
(the focus is more corporate than personal)
I have seen people, most of them from the corporate world that asks for a way to bypass or at least remove the ransomware that affected their PC. So, I can attest that it's true that ransomware attacks most to the corporate PCs.

I remember the time when our professor gave us a project about downloading an OS that we want except Windows. I think the one that I've used before is Ubuntu. I'm still not aware of its interface and even the terminal looks hard to use but this is also a good way to learn other OS. Prevention is still better than cure, avoid downloading from unknown sources because most of these ransomware/malware comes from there.
Ransomware or any kind of attacks, don't choose what they wan't to attack since the trigger mechanism for a ransomware is for the user, to click or activate the ransomware,
for corporate pc being attack , it seldom happen for corporate company to be victim of it since their it personnel make sure there are no threats in the network specially with the advancement of firewalls, most of the victims are person who are not aware, most of this are people at home, being curious is the one, we don't see the statistics but i think personal are got more attacks
