1024  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Bitcoin WesternUnion like service on: February 01, 2015, 12:33:16 AM
I'm not sure if this forum or the Bitcoin Discussion forum would be the better place for this thread.

I was just wondering if anyone has created a bitcoin equivalent of Western Union.  It seems like kind of a no-brainer given the fees WU charges.

...Well, sort of, anyway.  Given how volatile bitcoin is, if you're truly wanting to give someone the same amount of money in the fiat currency that you sent, the site may have to do some sort of hedging to compensate for bitcoin's volatility.

In theory, if a service like this doesn't exist, creating one would have no effect on the price of a bitcoin.  The person sending money would buy x bitcoins and send it to the person in the foreign country, who would then sell the bitcoins - in other words, the two transactions would cancel themselves out, unless the receiving party decides to keep any bitcoins.

Does anyone know if this type of service exists?  If it doesn't, and anyone's feeling entrepreneurial, feel free to use my idea and try and create said service / site.  It really seems like it ought to be a natural market for bitcoin.

i dont see  the point of this, bitcoin can be sent anywhere in the world, instantly, and for a negligible fee. plus exchanges like coinbase allow anyone to buy in fiat or sell for fiat.
1025  Economy / Games and rounds / Re: [SUPER FAST] Quick-Ponzi --> Fastest Ponzi Ever! - 124% Within Minutes! on: February 01, 2015, 12:30:25 AM
Has anyone tried this yet? These ponzi games are getting bolder and faster each week. Be always careful on joining such ponzis.

just take a look at the image he made with paint in 10 minutes, its a scam with so little effort put into it.

So much for the supposed anonymity of the btc blockchain..

everything is traceable through the blockchain, its not completely anonymous as long as there are records, which is the blockchain

people would trust this more if you used escrow
1028  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Trading Funds for Bitcoin Question on: February 01, 2015, 12:01:53 AM
they would send the bitcoin to whichever wallet you give him the address for. If youre doing trades for large sums of money I would recommend using an escrow service.

you have to wait for everything to be confirmed before your shares are paid out.

1032  Economy / Games and rounds / Re: Play Flappy Bird on your Android Phone and win FREE BTC! Faucet on: January 31, 2015, 11:33:50 PM
The app is working great! Waiting for updates...

One suggestion: because people will be asking for small withdrawals,
it'd be nice to have an option to wait for other ~9 people to withdraw
so a single tx fee is paid for all 10.

This way only 1/10 of the fee has to be discounted to each one.

i would love this, seeing as a maximum of 6 bits are given each game, it takes some time to get an amount for payout, I would rather have my payout delayed and bunched with others since its not a payout i would ever need urgently.

We thought about grouping payouts to minimize the impact of miner fees. Here is the problem. When one of our players makes a withdrawal, if we do not process it within a minute or two, we will get inbound tech support email asking "Where are my Bitcoins?". Responding to this email costs us money (we have people full time on tech support). So, to avoid this support cost, we process withdrawals within seconds. I suppose we could create a UI element that would show our users where they were at in a queue waiting to group more withdrawals. However, that's a lot of engineering. We would rather dedicate that engineering to new games.

To minimize the effect of the miner fees, we suggest that you only make withdrawals after you have accumulated a good amount of BTC. If you wait until you have 0.001 BTC, the minter fee is 10%. Wait until you have 0.01 and it's only 1%. [I know you could do the math yourself, I am just making a point Smiley ]

good point, what about integrating something like the xapo api then? I know a few faucets and the bitcoin minecraft server bitquest does it; it allows for instant micropayments to a xapo wallet from which players can withdraw from anytime without fees. It might be worth looking into.

primedice offers a faucet every few minutes, I dont see the benefit of registering under your ref link for a lower paying faucet
