1041  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Token/Coins pegged to real goods - Negative prices on: May 07, 2023, 10:19:57 AM
I am stucked on a real world problem.

I want to peg a crypto token/coin on a physical existing good like electricity or wheat. And I want to trade this coin/token on DEX's. So there are negative prices on these goods. Are there DEX's which can handle negative prices?

Are there other possibility in handling negative prices on the crypto market?

No, I can't think of DEX crypto markets accepting tokens with a negative price. I guess that the only way for a "negative price" to occur on a crypto market would be one trader borrowing a token from another trader and paying him later(which isn't allowed on the crypto markets). Otherwise, there's no way for financial assets to have negative prices, like some commodities. Why do you want to peg a crypto token with a physical good or commodity? I can't find any reason for this. Do you want to create a stablecoin, which is pegged to electricity prices? This ain't gonna work, the price of electricity can be very volatile sometimes.
1042  Economy / Gambling / Re: Why Opening an Account in a Bitcoin Sportsbook is the Future of Sports Betting on: May 07, 2023, 06:42:32 AM

Enter Bitcoin sportsbooks. By opening an account with a Bitcoin sportsbook, you can enjoy a more convenient and secure betting experience. Here are just a few reasons why:

Quick and easy transactions: With Bitcoin, deposits and withdrawals are lightning fast. No more waiting days or even weeks for your funds to clear. You can make a deposit and start betting in minutes.

Lower fees: Traditional sportsbooks can charge high fees for processing transactions, cutting into your winnings. Bitcoin sportsbooks typically have lower fees, meaning you keep more of your profits.

Increased security: Bitcoin transactions are recorded on a decentralized blockchain, which means they're virtually impossible to tamper with. This added layer of security helps protect your funds and personal information.

I'm wondering why Bitcoin/crypto sportsbooks haven't wiped out all the traditional fiat sportsbooks by now. Grin Maybe it's because they don't have such big advantages over the fiat sports betting platforms. The features described by OP are exaggerated completely. This forum thread is just a bunch of BS. I'm surprised that this thread is still active. Is OP trying to promote a Bitcoin sportsbook website(matching with this forum username)?

•   There should be an institution set up by core Bitcoin Blockchain and other chain Developers that will oversea and audit new Crypto project.

•   After auditing, they will also be responsible for the announcement of the genuineness of the project.

•   They will also help track down project owner if it happens that  there is any form of scam.

•   They will help investors get their funds in the case of scam.

•   This single institutions will have their branches across the world to make it easier for them.

•   They should also work with social media to curb the spread fake project by verifying every crypto project on their social media.

•   They will also be on the lookout to fight and bring down every scam project with immediate effect.

Bitcoin is NOT a company nor some kind of central bank or organization. The Bitcoin ecosystem has nothing to do with the so called "crypto projects". Some of them might be using BTC as a currency, but that doesn't mean that they are Bitcoin projects.
The crypto companies must be treated like regular companies and they must be audited and regulated by the government authorities.
What you are proposing is simply to create yet another form of bureaucracy, that will be very expensive to maintain. The governments already have their own bureaucracy, so there's no point of creating a centralized crypto bureaucracy.
The best way to protect the people from scams is to educate them about the potential risks of sending money to a centralized entity.

The people working at the Federal Reserve had realized at this point, that a new interest rate hike will be the nail in the coffin for the banks.
I'm sure that FED will stop with the interest rate hikes after the last one.
It's normal to have uncertainty around the US banking stocks. All the news, gossips and rumors could make or break the stock prices of the US banks. We have enough experience with volatility here on the crypto markets. All the crypto haters keep complaining about Bitcoin and altcoins being volatile, but they don't say anything about the volatility on the stock market. Grin I know that cryptocurrencies aren't stocks, but both crypto and stocks are financial assets. Grin

Selling raphinha will give barcelona decent amounts of money. That means barcelona will have to be sold less than what they must sell before. There are so many players have been including in the list of player to sell.
Raising money is very important for barcelona's future right now. Barcelona is also having a new task to bring messi back again to the campnou. I think that barcelona had no choice and it will still try to accept an offer from newcastle even though raphinha is very happy to play under xavi.

Selling the players like ansu fati, ferran torres will give small money to the club.

I think that there's only 1% chance for Barcelona to bring back Lionel Messi. They will have to offer him a really low salary, and I'm not sure that he will agree to play for a low salary. He went to Saudi Arabia, which means that he wants to sign a multimillion deal, just like Ronaldo did.
I never really liked Raphinha as a player, I don't know why the Newcastle manager would want to buy him. Barcelona has enough good players to sell. They will have to perform really well in the next edition of the UEFA Champions League, if they want to stabilize their finances.
1046  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How Big is the online gambling industry today? on: May 04, 2023, 12:21:38 PM
Quote
The global online gambling market size was valued at USD 63.53 billion in 2022 and is expected to grow at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 11.7% from 2023 to 2030. The growing internet penetration and rise in the use of mobile phones among users for playing online games is increasing the demand for online gambling. For instance, in 2022, internet penetration in the U.S. was 92% of the country's total population. Furthermore, cultural and legalization approval, easy access to online gambling, celebrity endorsements, and corporate sponsorships are also helping market growth.

63 billion dollars seems like a pretty small market size on a global scale. The global GDP was around 80 trillion dollars, if I remember this correctly.
I don't believe that the global gambling industry is less than 1% of the global GDP.
I guess that this is the market size of the legal and regulated part of the gambling industry. The size of the illegal and unregulated part would probably be bigger. I agree that sports betting has a way bigger potential for worldwide growth, because it is considered to be less harmful, compared to the traditional casino games(which might be a misconception).
1047  Economy / Economics / Re: Shrinkflation on: May 04, 2023, 11:40:47 AM
Quote
Shrinkflation is practice of reducing the size of a product while maintaining its sticker price.

I hate it when companies reduce quantity (and often quality too) of product to sell it at same price as before to combat inflation. Oh and don't forget those, "30% Extra" labels.

Inflation makes everything rise, so might as well keep the original quantity and just increase the price.

Do you agree? How would you combat inflation if you were running a company?

Does it ever matter? Inflation is inflation. It doesn't matter if the quality/quantity gets reduced or the prices go up.
You are terribly wrong about something.
The business owners/managers cannot "combat inflation". Only the governments and the central banks can fight inflation by interest rate hikes, higher taxes and cutting government expenses. 99% of the time, inflation is created by the governments and the central banks, which is a part of the absurd reality we live in. All the companies in the private sector can only adapt to the situation(by cutting costs and increasing the prices).

Congress has long-recognized the potential harms posed by sports betting to the integrity of sporting contests and the public confidence in these events.

This topic stems from the suspension of Jameson Williams for 6 games because he violated the gambling policy. I dug a little and found out the reason for the policy. My understanding of this is that there are two sides to sports betting, the gambler's side and then sports contest games. But this is the first time I am reading that sports betting can affect the game negatively and results in reduced public confidence. Does this apply to the NFL only? What about soccer and other sports? Are they exempted? Let's talk about this.

1. https://www.espn.com/chalk/story/_/id/23501236/supreme-court-strikes-federal-law-prohibiting-sports-gambling

2. https://www.google.com/amp/s/syndication.bleacherreport.com/amp/10073237-lions-jameson-williams-among-nfl-players-suspended-for-violating-gambling-policy.amp.html

Sports betting could negatively impact sports contests? Who would've thought of that earlier? I could never see this coming. Grin
I guess that you've never heard of rigged/fixed soccer games(replace soccer with any other popular sport).
My opinions is that sports betting slowly ruins almost all sports. In my country's soccer league all teams have sports betting companies as the main sponsors. This is quite suspicious, especially when certain games end with a weird result.
I don't know anything about the "Jameson Williams" court case and I don't care about American football, but I know that money and greed could ruin every sport.

Glad someone is taking a stance for Bitcoin and Bitcoin mining however they always have a hidden motive behind it.
Maybe he's invested in Bitcoin as well? or maybe he just loves innovation. Who knows? Smiley

Joe Biden is a clone. Fr

Clone? Do you mean clown? Grin
Anyway, this Robert Kennedy Junior guy is so pro-crypto, as if he is an actual member of Bitcointalk.org. Grin
All his statements repeat most of the things we write in the forum, when we discuss all the environmental FUD drama around BTC mining and crypto in general. Maybe he has an account here, or maybe he just reads the forum. I don't know anything about him, except that he is from the Kennedy family. According to Wikipedia, he was spreading anti-vaccine propaganda and conspiracy theories about "big pharma". No wonder that he is pro-crypto. Also he is a Democrat, which is usually a bad sign. Most Democrats usually want more government intervention, more bureaucracy and more government control.

Hello! I Looking for the best tipsters in the world
winrate 80%+, better is 90%+(Asian Bet or Bet365), you know what I said
Maybe it is fixed matching, but I need to verify it.
Fraud don't PM me, I won't pay prepaid first.
I am very familiar with all this
@bet358

I'm surprised that this forum thread isn't deleted. Grin I really doubt that the "best tipsters in the world" would care about you.
OP, how do you verify "fixed matching"? There's no way to verify a fixed match, if you ask me.
Beware of tipster scammers, who are faking their "big wins" and "successful bets".
The people, who are actively sports betting on a daily basis and have a 90% win rate would never waste their time selling tipster services.
The bookies might find out about their absurd win rate and they will try to punish them in one way or another.
1051  Economy / Economics / Re: Effects of Crypto and Bitcoin on the Economy on: May 03, 2023, 10:18:33 AM
There have been a gazillion forum threads about "Effect of crypto and Bitcoin on the economy."
Why do you have to create another one, if you don't have anything new to add to the conversation?
This is just a generic article with a bunch of images. We already know about the benefits of crypto for saving/investing(being your own bank) and the all the jobs created by the crypto industry. Did you write this forum thread to boost your post count?

Bitcoin or crypto is growing industry and it does have effect on multiple things including the economy and don't forget that the first legal country El savador is one of the proof in economy and dozen of merchant that accept Bitcoin.

Transfer with low fees and doesn't have border is always be good economy benefit in my opinion

El Salvador is a proof that mass crypto/Bitcoin adoption could actually fail, if the people aren't educated well enough.
1052  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Questions of the day for gamblers on: May 03, 2023, 05:51:46 AM
If a online casino claims to be a decentralized platform does this mean that their games are fully decentralized too?

Do you guys know that some casinos regulates their own slots machines themselves, can you gamble with ease of mind on such casinos?

If slots games is all you are good at, are you really good at it or you are just lucky? Can you use the word 'good at it' with slots game?

What is the most convenient games you play on gambling platforms?

Is using leverage about luck or skills? Or even a rigged game?

1.I don't think so. AFAIK, Blockchain-based games are really slow, which makes them not-so-convenient for gambling.

2.How can you be "good at" slots games? Even complete retards can play slots games. It's all about luck(unless the slots games are rigged).

3.I play mostly poker. Slots games are boring. All gambling games are designed to be as convenient as possible. There's no such thing as an annoying and irritating gambling game. Grin

4.Leverage? What do you mean? Crypto gambling has nothing to do with crypto trading? Can you elaborate further on what do you mean by the term "leverage"? Most gambling games are all about luck, only poker requires luck+skills.

Cryptocurrencies are new compared to Fiat currency, and so is their market values volatile. However, their volatility comes with prospective good gains. Another benefit is cryptocurrencies can be use to reduce payment sorting costs, giving room for small businesses to retain in their possession more of what they get and significantly increase in the rate how fast they get paid. Crypto may serve as another effective possibility of choice or making asset equal to cash, this might be lower over time due to inflation. It can further aid stronger control over the capital of such enterprise to cope with the risks and opportunities of direct involvment in digital Business.

I don't understand some of the stuff you are trying to say, OP. Did you use Google Translate? Grin
Crypto prices are volatile not because cryptocurrencies are new, but because most cryptocurrencies are scarce.
You are coming up with the assumption that the crypto prices will keep going up forever. I don't know what will happen with the cryptocurrency world in the distant future and I'm not that optimistic.
I don't believe that adopting crypto payments would reduce the costs of the small businesses. At the end of the day, they will have to convert the crypto to fiat, which comes with it's own transaction fees.

1054  Economy / Economics / Re: New currency from BRICS countries on: May 01, 2023, 10:30:11 AM
Couple of hours ago there is in news on Twitter saying BRICS countries (Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa) are developing a new currency. It was mentioned by State Duma Deputy Chairmen btw.

As I can see all these things to manipulate BTC right? What are your thoughts about this?

The BRICS countries couldn't care less about manipulating Bitcoin. How did you come up with this weird theory?
They simply want to dump the US dollar completely. I doubt that their attempt at creating an alternative global currency would be successful.
Using their own national currencies instead of the US dollar would be a way more successful approach.

Quote
It's very easy to check my version. Let's compare the economy of the USA + the West, and the economy of the group of these "lucky ones"? And especially in the context of today's goals of creating BRICS. Let's make it even simpler, imagine and simulate 2 situations:
- the United States and the collective West, with their economies, will disappear. What is happening on Earth?
- BRICS is disappearing - what is happening on Earth?

The economy of the so called "west" is artificially pumped by the money printing machines. BRICS countries have a big enough population and natural resources to survive without the "west". Can the "west" survive without the BRICS countries? Most likely yes, but at the cost of lowering the standard of living of the western middle class.
1055  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you blame someone for your gambling losses? on: May 01, 2023, 06:00:53 AM
This topic isn't about blaming anyone for your gambling losses. It's about trying to scam the sports betting platform, after you they have lost a substantial amount of money. I think that the mother and the son has this plan right from the beginning. They probably must have thought to themselves "hey, let's gamble a big amount of money, if we lose, we are going to lie and get a refund, what could possibly go wrong?". Grin
Refund scamming exists since the start of the online payments era(or even before that), but nowadays the payment providers can't be tricked that easily.
1056  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: You shouldn't be worried about bitcoin on: May 01, 2023, 05:34:41 AM
Who is worried about Bitcoin? I can only see a bunch of crypto newbies being worried about Bitcoin(and a bunch of FUDsters and bears being "worried" as well). No experienced Bitcoin trader/investor/HODLer is worried right now. The price even bounced back to 29K after a short term drop.
You shouldn't mix the technology with the price. The Bitcoin blockchain would be just fine, even if the BTC price drops down to 1K. The market conditions have little to do with the development of the blockchain technology. The markets aren't always rational. Sometimes they can be totally irrational (when the panic hits).

Apple has managed with the Iphones to sell an idea of status or prestige that has no justification in the quality of the product, but in the faith that their followers have in them.

Therefore, I think it will continue to be a very good business for many years to come.

I agree that Apple is more like a fashion brand, rather than a high tech company. Grin The people buy expensive iPhones, just because it's iPhone, not because they are better and more useful than any other smartphone out there. The marketing of Apple products is spot on.
However, I wouldn't buy Apple stocks, because they seem overvalued. Sooner or later Apple will be outperformed by another "fashionable" high tech company. I never really understood the mentality of all the diehard Apple fanatics. Is this stupidity or vanity? Or maybe both? Grin

But there is one more thing: The courts are not the ones who run these casinos. So if they can't steal users funds anymore by simply closing accounts, common sense says they'll be finding new ways to cheat customers.... So watch out to play only provably fair (that you actually understand) games and live games where you can actually verify you're not being cheated.

Edit: For the people posting here, saying this is FUD, go ask FortuneJack if no legal procedure is going against them. If not, ask them if they paid me already or not (with interest for being about 2 years late on payment). I am not giving any evidence, nor am I giving any details.

1.Everyone is innocent until proven guilty. If FortuneJack had really stolen 120K USD, this must be proven by the prosecutors.
2.Almost every major company has to deal with one or more lawsuits. This is something normal in the business world.
3.I'm completely aware of all the dirty tricks some casinos(not all of them) use to block certain users and to forbid withdrawals.
And so what? Just deposit small amounts of crypto and gamble for fun. Don't expect and win big and don't view gambling as a money making method.
1059  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Are there any Bitcoiners here who are living offgrid? on: April 30, 2023, 06:13:12 AM
I'm coming up to 81, and I'm a Bitcoin maximalist. I've rejected most of the current and other controls that try to restrict my lifestyle. I'm now living in a converted van, and I love the freedom. I'm considering a Raspberry Pi based installation to manage my Bitcoin node, and maybe do a bit of mining. Although I'm living primarily offgrid, I'm still a member of conventional society, and utilise thosed facilities that are useful to me. I'm monitoring the current banking changes, and hoping to increase my use of Bitcoin.
So, is there anyone else here that is questioning the current political and banking changes, and moving to an independent offgrid lifestyle?

I don't believe that you are 81 years old. Can you prove it? Grin
I guess that you aren't living offgrid completely. You are trying to live outside the fiat money grid. That's impossible for me and I don't find any reason to do such thing. What's the point of sacrificing your own convenience just to brag about "living offgrid" here and there? Grin
I mean, do you want somebody to give you a medal or something? Who cares that you live in a converted van? It's your life and you live it the way you want to.
What "banking changes" are you talking about? Do you mean the situation around Signature bank and SVB? This is old news. I don't think that there are going to be any significant "banking changes".
1060  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The madness of gambling addicts. on: April 28, 2023, 06:08:57 AM
I can mention hundreds of cases, where gambling addicts have committed crimes, scams, fraud, etc... in order to get money to feed their gambling addiction. And so what? Does posting such forum threads here help for solving this big problem? I don't think so.
When a gambling addict commits crimes, this becomes a problem of the police and the judicial system. We can't do anything about it.
The world is full with people, who lack self-control and self-awareness. They are capable of doing really stupid shit in order to fulfill their own desires. This is sad but true. We can't do anything to change them.
