10601  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Bitfinex HACKED - funds stolen ! on: August 09, 2016, 03:28:46 AM
Just floating the idea of spreading the pain around to the customers was enough for me to say goodbye to this exchange.
Its to bad they made something public that they really should not have been pondering in the first place.

there are not many like you.

anyway, in the mean time, Bitfinex owner has a lot of "work"  Grin Grin

Is that the owner of Bitfinex? I expected him to be Chinese since the exchange offices are located in HK. Is there a page in the Bitfinex website that shows who the people behind it are?

That would be nice to post for all the people to know.
10602  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Presidential Candidate Hillary Clinton Pledges Support for Blockchain on: August 09, 2016, 03:26:19 AM

Haha. Sure. I will believe it when I see it. Politicians tend to make a lot of promises during the campaign period and then they would break them when they have already won. If she keeps her word then I hope she will not bring more regulations that will impede the technology's growth and development.
10603  Economy / Speculation / Re: We'll be at 10,000+ by 2026 on: August 05, 2016, 11:00:33 AM
I am wondering how big is the blockchain by 2026 and if it is still feasible to maintain a full node even with development in computer hardware. Bitcoin could be semi centralized by then or dead.
10604  Economy / Speculation / Re: The price drop on: August 05, 2016, 10:56:18 AM
The problem is not the panic selling and the huge dump. The problem is there is no more buying happening anymore before the hack on Bitfinex occurred. I said before that I expected this to be under $600 and stay there until the end of the year. But I expected it to go under $600 around the end of August. So I guess we might see this go up above $600 for a while due to speculations but then go back down and stay there. Many of you will be discouraged by this and that will cause further dumping.
10605  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Corporations and Bitcoin on: August 05, 2016, 10:48:44 AM
How do the big corps feel about bitcoin?  How will they feel about bitcoin?  We know they are intrigued by the underlying technology of bitcoin, the blockchain.  Please back up your claims.

Well most of them think it is just a fad from what we are seeing. No one really picked it up after the bitcoin bubble popped. But some do see the merits and benefits of blockchains for their internal use cases. But bitcoin itself remains an outsider and an "exotic" investment of sorts.

@CryptoGambleh The 'cache' in Bitcache solves the problem. It eliminates all blockchain limitations. Wait for it :-)

I am very curious about this. Can anyone here explain or theorize what he will really be doing here? It would be nice to be enlightened by the more clever bitcoiners.
10607  Economy / Speculation / Re: Kim Dotcom Predict 2000$ per Bitcoin ??!! on: August 05, 2016, 10:40:39 AM
A bunch of tweets he made in the last few hours :

He is planning to use bitcoin so it is natural for him to hype his project. In my opinion he doesn't really care if it will reach $2000 or not. But the fact that bitcoin cannot be censored and can be used for his anti establishment stance, then it is good enough for him.
10608  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin in the banks?! on: August 05, 2016, 12:45:22 AM
yeah i am sure bitcoin will soon get this facility that bitcoin can be deposit in bank in the future, then people will need to convert their bitcoin to fiat for direct shopping.
I don't think so, about that. because it looks like impossible for the bank to giving a facility for bitcoin. because bitcoin is made for a secondary currency for the 2nd world like digital world.

You do not need a bank to store your coins. You should full control of your money. But I am sure that bank-like services should be created in order to find better use for bitcoins to help society as a whole. One example is a peer to peer loaning site.
10609  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BTC-E HACKED on: August 05, 2016, 12:39:33 AM
It's BTC-E so dodgy things happen. Be sensible and avoid it.

I have no problems with all my transactions and trades with them. My opinion is they are one of the safest and trustworthy operators around. Look at what happened to a high profile exchange like Bitfinex. I will not be surprised if it was an inside job.
10610  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Silk Road Founder Ross Ulbricht Sentenced to Life in Prison on: August 05, 2016, 12:35:15 AM
I was just wondering how Ross Ulbricht is and if there are any updates in his case. I think it is overkill what the American government did/is doing to him. There are far more ruthless criminals that should be put to jail. One example is the banksters who caused the 2008 financial crisis. They should go to prison, instead they were bailed out by the American government. That is funny.

Free Ross.
10611  Economy / Speculation / Re: Price Drop, Real Reasons? on: August 04, 2016, 04:31:30 AM
Bitfinex is dictating the entire market right now. It will be interesting to see how the market will react as soon as Bitfinex opens up again for trading.

For the average Joe these kind of heavy fluctuations are indeed killing, while for the more experienced Bitcoiners it's not much to worry about as we have seen this happen before.

Yes I have noticed several experienced bitcoiners welcoming the fall and seeing it to buy more bitcoins. Then I looked at the max chart and indeed it is true. the quick 1 day drops were followed by slow recoveries like what is happening right now. But I still see bitcoin could still go back down and by under $600 by then end of the year. It needs to accumulation for now.
10612  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Danger when buying/selling BTC in person on: August 04, 2016, 03:51:26 AM
So i was reading an article about someone who got robbed when he tried to buy in person 28000$ of Bitcoin
http://www.coindesk.com/florida-bitcoin-sale-knifepoint-robbery/
Personally i avoid dealings like this cause it is not easy to trust a random stranger.
How about you?do you buy or sell bitcoins in person? If yes have you ever had any bad experiences?

Only sell to people you can trust when the amount is already really high. What do you expect from the random people you transact with online? Some of them might be criminals looking for their next prey. We have a lot of those on the bitcoin scene.
10613  Other / Archival / Re: how to earn bitcoin fast? on: August 04, 2016, 03:44:16 AM
The fastest way of earning bitcoins is mining obviusly, but you need to invest good money on your hardware and be also experienced, but it's not good path for newbies.
i cannot agree with you, the fastest way of getting bitcoins is just buying it, though if you want to make it for free then the signature campaigns might help
Okay, just buying if you have an enough capital for buy them but if you don't have enough capital for buy? I don't sure you will recommend buying bitcoin become a way to earn bitcoin.
and what about mining? do you think mining is free? and don't need any capital? think think you can buy few bitcoins easily with your money. but if you want to mine bitcoin you of course need thousands of dollars to start mining. mining is not easy and not fast also.
with an advance mining rig you may be able to mine half bitcoin a month.

If you don't have any experience in mining it is better to buy bitcoins. That is the fastest way to earn it. So if you want to earn it fast and a lot. Then get a job and work hard. That's the way it is every where in the world for any currency you want to earn. There are no short cuts.
10614  Other / Off-topic / Re: How to motivate women to use Bitcoin? on: August 04, 2016, 03:39:58 AM
What's the difference? People are people so it would not matter who uses bitcoins. Man, woman or child whatever currency a person decides to use will not matter.
10615  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Kim Dotcom launching a Bitcoin project ? on: August 03, 2016, 11:46:19 AM
I am curious what this project is. I hope it is something P2P or something that utilizes the blockchain somehow making his project uncensorable. But maybe it will just be megaupload accepting bitcoin payment.
10616  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BTC in School Newspaper on: August 03, 2016, 11:41:13 AM
That is looking good OP. Will this be a regular column in your school paper. It is good that people will start young in knowing all about bitcoins. Why not also educate the people about the Silk Road story and the conspiracy against Ross Ulbricht. I am sure the younger generation will find it very appealing.
10617  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Bitfinex HACKED - funds stolen ! on: August 03, 2016, 11:36:16 AM
Is Bitfinex planning to pay their customers? I have been looking around online but I see no mention of them paying back their customers. This is unacceptable. They should go after the hacker, sell assets to pay customer funds and he charged of tort law. I am sure they will be found negligent in one way or another. They are like a bank holding customer funds. Their security should be excellent.
10618  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Bitfinex. Will they cover the 65 million dollar BTC Theft or just fold? on: August 03, 2016, 06:13:05 AM
Judging how most of these exchange "hacks" go down, I think the will just take the money and run.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-WCFUGCOLLU

This has been what's happening in the history of bitcoin exchanges. I wonder how BitFinex accumulated all that trading volume? They surpassed more established exchanges like bitstamp.net and BTCe in volume. Could it be that the numbers they have are manipulated by them?
10619  Economy / Economics / Re: When do you buy Bitcoin ? on: August 03, 2016, 06:03:57 AM
Yesterday when the price for bit coin gone down my friend suggested me to sell it, like :"sell it if you believe that bitcoin will not rise again", but I didn't sell it, cause of I believe bitcoin will come back on previous level. Add to that I am holding mine on Yobit and while the official price was 529$ on Yobit it was 595$ for buying and 580$ for selling, this difference confused me. Does anyone else believe that bitcoin will rise to 700$ again?

I believe so. But for now it will stay under $600 and it is possible that it will be until the end of the year. But the good thing is the buyer's market is approaching. So wait and see for good buying opportunities at bargain prices. Now is a good time to observe the price of BTC.
10620  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Bitfinex. Will they cover the 65 million dollar BTC Theft or just fold? on: August 03, 2016, 06:01:28 AM
They will fold I am sure. The big question is will they pay back their customers lost funds? There are signs that this will not happen because there are speculations that they do not have enough funds to pay them all. Maybe they will pay some but not all.

Can anybody post who the owners of BitFinex are?
