though that won't tell u a lot

Are you using this version: guiminer-20121203.exe ? Older might not support stratum.

Ok yes updated to the latest version of the guiminer and it appears to work fine Smiley

Really nice work btw in getting yourself setup on Stratum... was little concerned u were not going to make the change.... but u have and looks to be 1-2Mhash slower off my usual average 14Mhash but that was why I was running an older version of GUIminer so don't think this related to ur end at all.

I'll leave it running on this now overnight for u... so at least 14 hours and if i see any errors in the console i'll let u know

just FYI
Code:

We have started beta tests of Stratum server. Currently we are testing TRC mining.

If have some spare MH please point your miners to coinotron.com:3333 and help us find last bugs Smiley

Just log on to Coinotron website and create TRC worker ( if you don't have one), then use it in one of following miners:

cgminer https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=28402.0 or
poclbm https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1334.0 or
guiminer https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=3878.0

Example:
cgminer -o stratum+tcp://coinotron.com:3333 -u workername -p password

Thanks

How is it going FuzzyBear?

We had a lot of snow here in the last few days and I been doing overtime at work to.... literally left the office at 11pm last night Sad so just not had a chance to look again at the code i'm afraid... If I could sort out the detection of the blockchain and connecting the wallet to online mode then I think I will be able to publish it in a day or so.. but i'll only have the chance on the weekend by the looks of how my day job programming is shaping up...  sorry to keep u all waiting with this but I am very keen to see this one through and it is the only thing i look at when i get home... besides taking my dog for a walk Tongue   beside i'm getting near to the end of my project here at work so should let me spend a little more time on the Armory, also doesn't help the original Armory guy has gone quite on me to, but he has other things to do as well and only really spoke to him on weekends so i imaging he just as busy as i am
1088  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [PPC] PPCoin Released! - First Long-Term Energy-Efficient Crypto-Currency on: January 22, 2013, 12:21:19 PM
It's probably some early investors lose interest or feel uncertain about the 0.3 protocol upgrade.
Not saying that you do it deliberately, but the "uncertainty" is a bit manufactured.
Well you are entitled to your opinion. I can only say that I believe I am doing the best work I can, in the most professional and responsible fashion in my opinion. And I am proud of the work I produced so far.

Somehow I feel that you have developed animosity toward me and ppcoin project, I honestly don't know what warranted it as I think I have always treated you professionally and with courtesy. As I have said before, why can't people here tolerate petty differences and be united in the cause of liberty? I hope in the future you would have more constructive contributions to ppcoin.

Best Regards,
Please don't confuse lack of politeness with animosity. I think you did the community a great service by implementing POS and showing ways to do it. By openly criticizing you for the few things which go wrong, I give you a chance to explain to the community why you do things a certain way. You may feel a bit judged - but so do politicians in every functioning democratic society - so you're in good company. And yes - as a cryptocurrency developer you are a public figure.

There is always a lack of transparent communication it seems on this forum and far too many Trollers and haters here, I think that it is hard to avoid feeling directly targeted when people point out flaws in code or ideas or implementation of such code or ideas especially if they coming from all angles and sources.... Not having a go at anyone in particular just saying that discussion is good and healthy and the fact that Sunny King is very active in posting on here is a true credit to himself and his project.... not one other coin do I see weekly updates for and this makes it nice to see a timeline of the dev process and general fairing of the PPC project.

I also think that Jutarul raises a number of good points and has asked really important questions in the past and we need more clever and interested and productive people like you in the community...

I'll finish on saying that I would vote for both of you in the next election should u decide to run... much better choice than Obama or the current coalition government we have here in the UK!! so get ur applications in... maybe u could run together then I wouldn't have to make a hard choice on my vote Smiley anyways keep up the good work

1092  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: TRC Armory GETTING THERE... but little help pls... on: January 21, 2013, 09:13:52 AM
How is it going?

One step forward two steps backward atm Sad

I got all the changes that should have needed to be be made... ran the code, it didn't error Cheesy but was connecting and then dropping the connection to the TRC network... even though TRC was not running at that point.... Upon trying to change a few text named areas of Bitcoin Armory to Terracoin Armory.. I have managed to now get the code NOT to even load armory Sad... tried redownloading original from source again and making the minor changes.. and the code still does not open armory Sad so it was kinda working with only 1 minor bug needing to be fixed... now i'm searching for how I have managed to break the working code Sad

Was soo close.. i had even setup a repositry in the git for it.... but not gonna upload broken code...

Have felt like I have gained good understanding of some of the code and once I get the basics working it should all come together quite nicely... just a few testing hurdles till I can say its ready and works.

Should get a bit of time today to work on it though so hopefully can see where I gone wrong
1093  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: TRC Armory GETTING THERE... but little help pls... on: January 20, 2013, 05:11:41 AM
Got the daemon running fine Cheesy and works great for the testing I needed....

Yet when I tried to get the QT version running I got permission errors on the line
Code:
apt-get install qt4-qmake libqt4-dev build-essential libboost-dev libboost-system-dev libboost-filesystem-dev libboost-program-options-dev libboost-thread-dev libssl-dev libdb4.8-dev libdb++-dev
Error message:
Quote
E: Could not open lock file /var/lib/dpkg/lock - open (13: Permission denied)
E: Unable to lock the administration directory (/var/lib/dpkg/), are you root?

I have tried the apt-get from the root dir, the TRC dir i downloaded all from git  and the src where i made the terracoind build.... any suggestions?
1094  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: List of all cryptocurrencies on: January 20, 2013, 04:01:48 AM
Ty SunnyKing Smiley I have included ur edits other than the ixcoin which acording to this link https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=36218.0 says that:
"Ixcoin is a fork of Bitcoin with twice the inflation rate of 96 Ixcoins per block and the same 21 million total limit"

Ah you are right I missed it. Ixcoin completely stops block subsidy by 2015 and only sustains mining via transaction fees. That's why the list of summary is very helpful  Smiley

LOL at your eight different altcoin wallets, I thought you were one of those collectors and I was right Wink Time to get a NMC wallet and then you have reasonably completed the active set Wink

Hehe finally updated my entry just for u SunnyKing.... as in added  "NMC: N7q9zg9h4Scfx6R25RTL8LdGxCBQbgq8wz" to my uber list of donation addys:P  And i've been interested in namecoins for a while now (bought a few on Vircurex but never got client till month ago or so) and just not had a play yet, but that was where I was looking to run the cryptoaution website from, but got tied down a bit at work needing to do overtime to pay the bills and sidetracked with the TRC Armory project... but it still on my ///TODO: list and I got a couple of guys from my work interested in it to who are looking to try and get involved which should speed things up to.. will keep u posted

1096  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / TRC Armory GETTING THERE... but little help pls... on: January 20, 2013, 01:59:44 AM
Ok so its been a long few weeks and I not been able to solely dedicate my time to the Terracoin Armory project, but last few days... lots of coffee, not much sleep.... and considerable help from the original Armory developer and I'm getting somewhere with this project Cheesy

So one of the things I HAD to do (as was about time and makes working with the Armory code soooo much easier) was get a LINUX dev environment setup.  Done that and running Ubuntu 12.4 installed on a separate computer now Smiley made my basic changes to the armory code and looks like it builds and works (need to make more detailed changes for views to not say Bitcoin but Terracoin) but want to test and send some TRC to an account on armory but need to have TRC installed on the linux box.... and my limited Linux experience is failing me here so if anyone can help me I will be eternally grateful...

Basically I just need help installing the TRC client on Ubuntu...

I was able to just download the TRC win32 binaries b4 and install on windows with a double click of the Terracoin-QT file... obviously this does not work in Ubuntu.. so I take it I need the original source files and build myself using the Terminal.... I'm looking into this now but if anyone has done this before and can point me in the right direction or let me know if i'm barking up a wrong tree and there is a simpler method then pls let me know...

Many thanks

Fuzzy Bear
1097  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: end world hunger coin on: January 18, 2013, 08:59:13 PM
and if there was no hunger the population would increase so fast we all would die.

sux don't it

Nah we just need to cross breed more animal to be human predators in that case... I live by the sea and I still watch out each day for a flock of these to come tearing in across the horizon

so if there is no need for a charity coin to end world hunger... is there any way that a coin could be adapted like the namecoin for such purposes as distribution, entitlement and evaluation of food supply?
1098  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: end world hunger coin on: January 18, 2013, 03:44:39 PM
I was thinking the same wormbog but rather than world hunger ending.. a World Health Service Coin

Some original comparison content

thanks FuzzyBear, maybe you'd like the job if you can dig deeper

Bah I have a day job to do as well that i'm working 13 hour days on atm... so writing u ur essay completely is not going to happen i'm afraid... i was just hoping for some LTC for the effort I made Sad
1100  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: ppcoin market crash on: January 17, 2013, 01:49:26 PM
It amazes me that many LTC critics always conveniently "forget" why it was created and why scrypt was chosen to be the algorithm.

Let's recap: LTC was created because people were not happy with the concentration of power in bitcoin money creation (i.e. mining), as it became more and more expensive and specialized to mine BTC.

If early bitcoin adopters were motivated by the desire of escaping from central banks' monopoly power,  litecoin adopters were rebellion against the unfair distribution of money creation process. Ideally, I'd like to see an algorithm that  directly correlates to how many brain cells you have Smiley  before that is discovered, scrypt seems to be the next best thing in crypto currency world.

I predicted the emergence of alternative concurrency before any of the alt-chain appeared https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1361.msg34552#msg34552, I also predicted there may be national or regional crypto currencies, Russian Coin seems to be such an attempt.

The jury is still out on whether they will succeed or not, but I'd keep an open mind and don't want to embarrass myself in the future, just like those btc critics came on board when bitcoin first gained some publicity.

So would I ... but wait ... i'm loosing brain cells at the moment (past that magic age Sad )so my mining power is becoming less with every day... suppose it does account for the fact that older people do not need as much money as youngsters... less life to live and all... and would reward the smartest of us.... but u'd still end up with someone buying brain cells from 100 stupid people just to get a better hash rate Tongue
