A 30-min chart will produce a noisy signal if you want to apply it to a six month trend. I don't see much use going below one-day resolution really.
1082  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: WHAT COIN IS WORTH HOLDING FOR ATLEAST A YEAR FROM NOW? on: July 13, 2018, 12:11:40 AM
So, it's been a year and most of these suggestions have weathered pretty badly compared to Bitcoin. Waves, Litecoin, Siacoin, Stratis...

If you test all possible combinations before finding a block. Best case, you immediately find it, worst case you find it on the last combination, average, you will find the block in about half the time of the maximum.

But no single miner searches all possible combinations by itself and as far as I know there is no decided range of combinations tested by each pool so different pools may end up testing the same combinations. and different pools include different transactions so operate in a different search space. This means that the upper limit is a lot higher than twice the average block time.

Random results do included things humans don't find random at all. 100 slow blocks in a row is less likely that 10 slow blocks in a row, but not impossible.

The search space is astronomical - we'd be waiting a very long time indeed if there were only one solution. Fortunately, there are many solutions within the space. You can still keep trying unique combinations and miss an answer for a considerable time though.

There were far too much blocks in the hours before

7,17/h blocks in the last 6 hours
7,42/h blocks in the last 12 hours

Gambler's fallacy that one, I'm afraid  Wink

My plan is, from what I gather, similar to Bob's. I'd like to sell just under 50% of my crypto, put the proceeds in stocks, withdraw the standard 4% or so per annum, and let the remaining corn ride.
I will only do so when I can maintain or increase my current income. Bitcoin will be used for cars, airfare, and hookers.

I'm reluctant to invest in stocks. This is one of the longest stretches without a crash, and given that we live in a world with record-breaking debt, that's not a great place to be.

You see the use of the word 'World' in this instance means literally EVERY contry in the world can enter their national team in it.  Unlike in America where the use of the word 'world' in sport (e.g. the baseball World Series) can mean only teams based in America normally take part.

Grin

It's a great little trick to be the best nation at a sport though, you have to hand it to them.

with the numbers of 2015 was accetable, with the numbers today, many people is losing trust and will never come back again for fear!
losing 200 bucks is a thing, losing 6 000 is a different story!
We had the opportunity to change the world if this is the trend for the next years, I think we are going to lose this opportunity.

Not to mention the difficulty, and the current costs to mine, and support the network with the same expenses in 2015

Just my opinion

Your opinion sucks hairy donkey balls. We're an oak tree with roots deeply bedded in the ground now. A harsh winter will not kill us, as it may have when we were but a sapling.

Well, silver lining, at least I don't have to worry about jello now.  ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I think satoshis.place needs a prominent green dildo giving a shout out to this thread.

Re. satoshis.place - someone will eventually upload illegal images. What happens when they do?

Like I said.

I'm really, REALLY bored.

I hope the enema wasn't your idea Shocked

You guys that don’t get this, you need more charisma, confidence, self knowledge and personal responsibility.

And a sex dungeon?

Yep, that's the magic sauce.

Again, like I said, I have a very rudimentary understanding of this attack. I don't really know the specifics or its viability. This is something that Anonymint has been talking about on this forum recently under his alt account "anunymint".

Oh well, if that damn loon thinks so, then it must be a real and imminent threat. Chicken Licken and all that.

This was the same guy, you might like to know, who insisted Bitcoin was fundamentally flawed and doomed when I first joined this forum back in early 2013.

It would be difficult for me to get downtown on a whim since I'm in the GTA, I work a weird continental shift and my wife has enrolled my daughter into every extracurricular activity known to man (and possibly some unknown to man) but I could try.  I think it would be cool to meet some of the faces behind the names.

On a totally unrelated matter, I've taken receipt of those drums of hydroflouric acid you ordered. Should I wheel them down to your garage?

Countdown to the first story of someone who commits suicide due to the price drop. Morbid and sad, but you know it's coming.  Undecided

If there is anyone out there thinking about it, remember...you have a brain. You can continue to make money in the future. You don't need stuff. Think of it as a fresh start.

This reminds me of the guy who supposedly killed himself due to losing a million in MtGox. If he'd have just accepted the loss and moved on, he'd probably be due around a million from the claims process now.
1094  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: June 13, 2018, 04:29:08 PM
Ok. Here's some despair.

I'm not proud to be asking this question, but...

"Does it look like Doug Polk will lose his bet ?"

I'll bet you 0.1 BTC it does go below $6000. Tongue
1095  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: June 12, 2018, 11:58:45 PM
If you don't "snap out" of your bearish sentiment, infofront, I'm going to request a jello fight with between you and yefi.   Cheesy Cheesy

...and you say you're not interested in penises Shocked
1096  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: June 12, 2018, 09:41:18 PM
This means:

1. register on Bitmex
2. deposit bitcoin
3. choose at least 10x leverage and go long (right now at $6500)
4. get your bitcoin doubled when bitcoin reaches $7500

That sounds like it will put the guy in diapers. He can't handle Bitcoin's ordinary volatility, let alone 10x.
1097  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: June 11, 2018, 06:18:43 PM

I would like to think of myself as (somehow ?) a higher class than lambchop.

A filet mignon?
1099  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: June 10, 2018, 07:59:45 PM
he said "ordinary" paper

you have to pay extra for the acid free stuff

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/William_Barrow_(chemist)

From what I've read, most copy paper these days is made with calcium carbonate and is neutral or alkaline. Without testing one's paper's PH, I guess you can't be certain though.
1100  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: June 10, 2018, 07:15:49 PM
Ordinary paper in many cases won't last 25 years, let alone 100. Careful with those keys.

Hm, how come we have libraries instead of piles of disintegrated paper?
