10881  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ETH] ethpyramid.meteor.com Dynamic Pyramid Fast Payouts!!! on: March 09, 2016, 03:51:13 PM
The contract is now listed on http://dappcentral.io/ and http://dapps.ethercasts.com/ so hopefully that spurs even more people to join on in.

Also, working further on the site, to allow you to see your payout details and where you are in the payout order.

That is definitely the ideal choice to attract more people to deposit into the ETH Pyramid. I have checked the site once more, and now there has been one more deposit into it. Hopefully, it will grow more when people notices it on the Dapps site. As for me, I still haven't been fully synced yet but I will get there. Can't wait to try this pyramid.  Cheesy
10882  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Was the first PoS coin Peercoin...? on: March 08, 2016, 11:03:46 PM
This is in fact interesting. All the time it was said that Peercoin was the first Proof of Stake coin, but it may seem that it wasn't what it claimed to be after all. However, when you look for information regarding miniblox or minibrix, nothing seems to appear on the web. It would have been cool to know about Peercoin's ancestor, but I guess that until now (since there isn't any info that proves otherwise) it seems that Peercoin would have been the first Proof of Stake coin.  Smiley

I am getting very low connections to the TALK network. Anywhere I could find additional nodes to add onto the wallet? Would be great to have more connections to the network for faster syncing. Any help would be greatly appreciated.  Smiley

 i'm running ~5 days now - 4 peeers

"addr" : "5.196.109.69:39696",

"addr" : "91.153.109.149:50557",

"addr" : "194.135.88.180:50557",

"addr" : "54.187.214.128:43007",

Thanks for sharing these nodes. After setting them up into my wallet, I waited for around 5 to 10 minutes and now it has 5 connections to the TALK network. Sweet! Now onto to buying some TALK to get things going... Grin
10884  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ETH] ethpyramid.meteor.com Dynamic Pyramid Fast Payouts!!! on: March 08, 2016, 07:06:57 PM
If you're having syncing problems, download the newest homestead ethereum wallet, and sync with that wallet first. And then after your sync'd, open up your mist browser. The new wallet has much faster syncing. https://github.com/ethereum/mist/releases/tag/0.5.1

Also, within a few days I will be lowering the payout, so get in while the 2x payout is still available.

Thanks for the advice. I hope to get into the pyramid before the payout rate is lowered. I think that my wallet should be fully synced by today (hoping that the internet connection remains stable) Once I send some ETH into it, and receive my payout, I will write my reviews about it here.  Smiley
10885  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Faster Mist Wallet Sync? on: March 08, 2016, 07:04:23 PM
Is it not set by default? Sorry I don't know as I never configured rpc although looking at the geth help it's something like: geth --rpc --rpcaddress ip --rpcport port

Thanks for this information. I think that it may be set by default, but just to be safe I will set up the values myself with the provided commands at geth help.  Smiley

P.S. My Mist wallet is nearly synced and almost ready for action.  Grin
10886  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] AppleBytes - the cryptocurrency for the arts! on: March 08, 2016, 06:59:27 PM
Reminder  - ArtByte is scheduled for it's first halving in about 3 weeks, from an award of 800 to 400 per block.

That is really cool. Maybe this will make a positive effect in ABY's price. That is why I am holding ABY for long term. It could prove itself to be a good investment. By the way, that positive price movement is being reflected right now.  Smiley
10887  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Ethereum: Welcome to the Beginning on: March 08, 2016, 12:41:21 PM
Currently ETH is 0.0227 in Poloniex! How do you explain the low cost and almost no interest in ethereum literally hours before the release of Homestead! For me personally it is a bit inexplicable. The price now had to be at least 0.03 +
The price continues to fall............... Huh

This is a little odd but still a very good chance to buy some cheap ETH while it lasts. Look in the bright side: Buy cheap ETH now, and then profit when price hits $20+ (I am very optimistic) Homestead will be yet another exciting release (I think). All we have to do is hold onto our ETH and wait for something big to happen.  Roll Eyes
10888  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Faster Mist Wallet Sync? on: March 08, 2016, 12:32:30 PM
close the window that's syncing then open another and use geth for the account. I wasn't fully synced to use a geth account.

Thank you. I will try this as soon as I get home. Just one more thing though, how do I activate geth in localhost RPC mode? Just asking because, I saw this on a dapp, which said "Make sure Geth is in localhost RPC mode" Anyways, I will try to get things up and running with my ETH account.  Smiley
10889  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][LDOGE]LiteDoge | Community coin | No Premine | Very fast | NEW WALLET OUT! on: March 08, 2016, 11:57:27 AM
ATTENTION... NEW WALLET!  Current Wallet Version: v3.3.0.0  |  Official Repository: https://bitbucket.org/ctgiant/litedoge/downloads

Yes, some people forked.  Not all and this is not a serious problem.  It's been fixed.  If you need help... join the IRC channel.

https://kiwiirc.com/client/irc.kiwiirc.com/#litedoge

This is actually exciting. A new wallet, yet new and exciting things are about to come for LDOGE. Hold on tight folks, this is going to be a smooth ride. I am hoping to see LDOGE get added to more exchanges like Shapeshift. It would be pretty cool to instantly exchange Bitcoin for LiteDoge in there. Also, price could go all the way up if it gets the attention it deserves.  Grin

You can use geth and create an account and start experimenting that way.

Thanks for your advice. As for geth, I need to wait for it to get fully synced to be able to use it right? (like Mist wallet) Because, I have made an account but each time I open geth with "geth console" command, it quickly displays a message that says: Block Synchronization Started.  Smiley
10891  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ETH] ethpyramid.meteor.com Dynamic Pyramid Fast Payouts!!! on: March 08, 2016, 11:45:48 AM
Payout rate is 2x at the moment.

I'm inquiring right now, what people want the next payout rate to be. Just post here Abiky, which one you'd prefer, and then if a few other people post the same wishes, I'll change rate anywhere from 1.2x to 2x, until people feel they want a different rate.

A total of 14 deposits have been done by people. 7 of those people have been paid out for a total of 21 ether at this point Smiley.

2x payout rate seems fine to me but if it were to make payouts faster then 1.2 would be okay. About the payouts, I would like some clarification about it. Does it mean that once I deposit 1 ETH, I would get paid after someone else deposits ETH too, am I correct?  Smiley

Exactly, when you deposit, you're basically paying someone else out, and when the person after you deposits, they are paying you out. That's how a pyramid system works. Normally, the failure of a pyramid system is it gets too large, as I mentioned before, and the higher the payout, the more people are needed to start procuring payouts, but the biggest failures of pyramids have been owners running away with pyramid funds. Since this is a smart contract, this is not possible, as the contract has no functions that stop its operations, or withdraw the balance.

Thanks for the information. That is good to know since the pyramid will keep running as long as it gets "fueled" by ETH. Being a smart contract, makes it better than those so called Bitcoin Doublers in which the owner has the ability to take the funds with him. With smart contracts, that is not the case.  Grin

I am still waiting for wallet sync to complete. Can't wait to get started.
10892  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Faster Mist Wallet Sync? on: March 08, 2016, 11:29:07 AM
Sorry I cannot help you as I use the geth CLI. That too takes time to sync.

I have tried Geth as well but I am facing the same issues as you mate. If there were something similar like a bootstrap.dat (like in Bitcoin) where you could download and place on the appdata directory, then it would really speed things up. Is there any way to download blockchain files? (chaindata directory)  Smiley

Not that I am aware of, unless you had a friend offer one up. It took me about 2-3 hours from scratch to download everything and get up and running. I recently had to reinstall a Bitcoin wallet and the download took close to two days, so to me this was a breeze (A bit paranoid with security so I don't trust bootstrap files). Of course a lot of it will depend on your connection speed, but now that the Ethereum blockchain data files are close to 10 GB, it will take a while.

Thanks for your reply. I am just going to leave the Mist wallet running on my PC for several hours until ti finishes sync. I hope that in the future, as the Ethereum blockchain grows, we will get the ability to sync faster (or maybe blockchain could be compressed for less space and faster sync rates.) As soon as I am synced, I will transfer some ETH into it and experiment with the wallet itself.  Smiley

Since when is the Homestead website up and running? Yesterday it still said "Frontier"  Shocked

Today:
https://www.ethereum.org

Yesterday:
https://web.archive.org/web/20160306020456/https://ethereum.org/

The site change was today. I know because I have been constantly checking the page throughout the day and first it was the Frontier page and then it changed to the Homestead page after the number of blocks required for Homestead have been reached. This is very exciting. I have never thought ETH could get this far. Next step would be ETH at $20 each, you'll see.  Roll Eyes

Thanks on the compliments, I was working to get it looking just right and give it a "Ethereumy" look, if that makes any sense :p.

Anyways, yes, we may run 3x payout again, depending if people want it. I'm actually posting here to ask what people would be interested in again. I won't run the 3x payout again, until we pass a certain milestone, like 100 participants. I'll likely add it back in for ~100 - 110.

What I actually wanted to inquire is what payout people want now. You can choose from 1.2x to 2.0x (Note, with 1.2x your payouts will be much faster) Again, remember, this doesn't affect those that already sent their ether, you will get whatever the payout was when you originally deposited.

Another note, I will lower the fee, depending on the payout you want. For 1.8x, I will lower it to 8%. for 1.6x to 6%, 1.4x to 4%, and 1.2x to 2%.

Please leave your feedback, I want this pyramid to succeed, and gather enough data so in the future, I can make a fully autonomous pyramid.

That sounds great! How do I choose the payout rate on the dapp? Anyways, I will use your pyramid app once Mist wallet finishes with the syncing process (since it is taking too long) I will gladly leave feedback here once I receive my payout.  Smiley
10897  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Faster Mist Wallet Sync? on: March 07, 2016, 10:11:19 PM
I have downloaded the Ethereum Mist Wallet for the first time, however when I open the wallet, it takes too long for syncing of the blockchain data files to complete. Isn't there a faster way to do this? It is taking hours to be able to access the Mist wallet itself. I would gladly appreciate your help.  Smiley
10898  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Can ETH be mined from an Android device? on: March 07, 2016, 10:09:12 PM
I know that you may not get an acceptable hashrate to mine some decent, but at least it would fun to watch the process and learn more about ETH mining. Do you think it could be possible to mine ETH with your Android device? Perhaps, it could use the internal GPU to mine bits of ETH?  Huh

nope sry, eth needs the gpu to have at least 2GB of ram to allocate the DAG
and the arm cpu in a phone would prolly have a very hard time keeping the miner hashing as it would easily be at 100% load
if u do in the future mine anything with ur phone i wouldnt do it 24/7
my phone cost over $400 and mining on it would prolly kill it in months
not to mention u prolly would barely clear $.01-.02 a day

Thanks for your reply. I thought that might happen, but I would just do it a little while to test it into my Android device. Maybe in the future, android devices will have powerful GPUs to be able to accomplish this task. In the meantime, I will just setup an ETH mining rig and SSH to it from within my phone.  Smiley
10899  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: The ethereum scam on: March 07, 2016, 05:11:58 PM
Not ethereum,Only Rootstock — Smart Contracts on the Bitcoin Blockchain
As a concept the Rootstock [1] platform is one of those ideas that once it is proposed it is obvious that it is a great idea. Essentially Rootstock aims to be what Ethereum is, a decentralized, Turing-complete smart contract platform. However, Rootstock aims to utilize the Bitcoin ecosystem rather than creating a new one from scratch. The way this will be accomplished is via the still not fully implemented sidechains technology

Interesting. I have never found out that such possibility could exist within Bitcoin. Thanks for sharing this information. I will make a research about Rootstock. Seems that it could be a great platform for smart contracts/dapps.  Smiley
