10921  Economy / Economics / What is your best investment strategy? on: March 05, 2016, 09:36:19 PM
The crypto world can become unpredictable sometimes, making our choices of investing into it, a very limited one. From scams to ponzis, there have been many losses from investors, yet making it very difficult to find a reliable investment.

But on the bright side, you could still invest into assets and commodities with your crypto like Gold and Silver. Then, if done right you could profit along the way with a good strategy.

As for me, I only decide to invest into gold (by exchanging BTC to Gold) and into some NXT and BURST assets.

What would be your investment strategy? Please share your tips, advice, or any good strategy you would use to safeguard your crypto investments.  Smiley
10922  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is Vitalik Buterin Satoshi Nakamoto? on: March 05, 2016, 09:25:56 PM
analyses of bitcoin core code revealed that there maybe more than one person involved in creating the bitcoin. I think out of millions original bitcoin they mined, probably each person knows about half the private key.
I belive Satoshi is more than one person, definitely not a young kid.

I am starting to think the same way as you mate. Based on my theory, I think that Satoshi could either be Gavin Andresen with Nick Scabo or theymos with Gavin and Nick, don't you think?  Roll Eyes

Anyways, what matters most is not who Satoshi is, but instead what he did (and that was Bitcoin with the Blockchain)
10923  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Gas limit too low in ETH transaction? on: March 05, 2016, 09:18:14 PM
About the wallet I was using, that same wallet is called MyEtherWallet which is an online wallet. Do you think that the issue could be the wallet itself? If so, then I think I would use Mist just to be sure. Still, I would like to know about the meaning of "Gas limit too low" when making an ETH transaction.  Smiley
10924  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Best books for introducing others to cryptos? on: March 05, 2016, 09:14:49 PM

Smiley nice to read that.
there is also a site that remind when new coin will be released...
but by the way 99% are scam, clone, fork of btc and other cryptos ... so read some paper like about name coin/ prime coin / litecoin
many people like monero or ethereum or urocoin but I can't tell if time to study is worth.

Great! Thanks for your advice. Honestly, I think that people are more interested into privacy than anything else, so anon coins like Monero or Dash would be a great way to introduce them into crypto currencies. (not to mention Bitcoin in the first place) The most interest would be in Bitcoin itself since it is very valuable, it would attract a lot of new investors.  Cheesy
10925  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Best books for introducing others to cryptos? on: March 05, 2016, 09:06:12 PM
Is an book for someone who is not involved with crypto attractive to read. Think few videos and good website with some explanation is more useful.

Yeah. Usually the visuals are what attracts people most into things (like commercials) I will try to gather as much information as I can from cryptos and see what I could accomplish.  Grin
10926  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Best books for introducing others to cryptos? on: March 05, 2016, 09:04:16 PM

the best advice could be for example about taking a read in sub forum alt coins announcement...
some "story" about clam coin, doge coin, or prime coin for example and then you see how approach next step...
I don't think there are book "for senior" about the world of cryptocurrencies... every week there are new clone coming!

You do have a point there. Every time I see new alts being released, each with their own features (and some are even clones/fork or another coin). I would probably use the sub forum as you stated previously, to teach others but if there is a good book about crypto currencies in general that I could use as reference it would be better.

Thanks for your reply!  Smiley
10927  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] MonetaryUnit [MUE] Quark based, CPU mining, faucet, explorer, pool, wallet on: March 05, 2016, 09:00:47 PM
Things looking pretty interesting on Bittrex
https://bittrex.com/Market/?MarketName=BTC-MUE

Yes. I have been impressed with MUE's price trend lately. All of this means a good sign to hold MUE for long term.

@bizzyb About the MUE Bank, I tried using the contact form on the site, as well as replying to the email I have received when I first made the deposit, but still no luck. Perhaps, hoosen is too busy to be able to answer my messages.

I just want to know why I haven't earned interest into my deposit address (initial deposit was on Jan 23, 2016) It has been 4 weeks already but there hasn't been any changes yet (as I checked the block explorer) All I want to know is if my deposited MUE are safe and I would be able to withdraw them in the near future.  Sad
10928  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Best books for introducing others to cryptos? on: March 05, 2016, 08:56:35 PM
I am looking for the ideal books that would allow me to teach others or introduce them to the world of cryptocurrencies. Which ones would you recommend to me that would be suitable for this task?

This would be best for educational purposes. Any help, would be greatly appreciated  Wink
10929  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Gas limit too low in ETH transaction? on: March 05, 2016, 08:43:55 PM
Hey I have been exploring the Ethereum platform myself, learning more about it each day. I have been using web wallets like (name of web wallet here) with the purpose to send ETH from one address to another. However, when I send 1 ETH from the wallet, all I get is an error message saying: "Gas limit too low"

Any reason why I get this message? Sorry for asking, I am just not quite knowledgeable about Ethereum yet. I still got a lot to learn.

By the way, the wallet has 2.7 ETH in total balance. Any help would be greatly appreciated.  Smiley

10931  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][LISK] Lisk | ICO | Decentralized Application & Sidechain Platform on: March 05, 2016, 01:28:39 AM

Call me a cynic, but my personal opinion is the Ethereum price explosion is due to the recent Chinese government capital controls to prevent the flow of money out of China.  Cryptocurrency exchange is one of the current scams to get the money across the Chinese border electronically. See:

http://www.coindesk.com/china-wanxiang-blockchain-50-million-fund/

http://allcoinsnews.com/2015/10/20/ethereum-sees-growing-china-interest-focuses-on-four-major-rd-areas/

There is no fundamental reason for Ethereum to be pushing $10, just as there is no fundamental reason for this house in Vancouver to be worth $2.3 million:

http://www.zerohedge.com/news/2016-02-29/pretty-freaking-nuts-vancouver-home-sells-735000-above-asking-price

It's all about getting on the Chinese money laundering gravy train.

So while I am all for serious JavaScript code development in Lisk, in reality getting Lisk on many Chinese exchanges rapidly and going to meetings with businessmen in Hong Kong and Shanghai are the quickest way to reach $5 per Lisk.

I say let's do it.

Lisk QQ Group: 377193016
Chinese Name for Lisk: 应用链, means "Chain of Dapps"

Good lets get the Chinese on board with the Lisk platform. Since they are good investors (at least in my opinion) they could drive Lisk's price all the way up to the moon. Not to mention that it will be using a very popular programming language, Lisk will attract investors as well as developers and thus make it a very successful platform (I hope so) I have heard about a Chinese exchange named Bitebi9. The addition of Lisk there would be a game changer.  Smiley

I am getting very low connections to the TALK network. Anywhere I could find additional nodes to add onto the wallet? Would be great to have more connections to the network for faster syncing. Any help would be greatly appreciated.  Smiley
10933  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: WARP - Something different - VPN Wallet BETA Release 4th March - Bittrex/YoBit on: March 05, 2016, 01:03:57 AM
Can I ask who is running all the VPN servers? If this has been addressed before please forgive.

About the VPN servers, will it be running within the Warp network or will the VPN be something apart from the Warp network? Just asking because I am very curious to know if it would be running through the block chain (which would be pretty cool) If something could enlighten me about this, I would gladly appreciate it.  Grin
10934  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: WARP - Something different - VPN Wallet BETA Release 4th March - Bittrex/YoBit on: March 05, 2016, 12:53:16 AM

Looking good. VPN is definitely interesting and would certainly make WARP more attractive. I am testing the beta version right now, but as soon as there would be an official/stable release, I think that things will change drastically to WARP. I expect to see WARP being worth $1+  Grin
10935  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][LISK] Lisk | ICO | Decentralized Application & Sidechain Platform on: March 05, 2016, 12:47:55 AM
What prices people expect to see on this one?

Well if it becomes very successful, I think we could get prices close to ETH's price like $1, $2 or even $5 per Lisk. Things will be pretty interesting for Lisk once it launches officially so investing into the ICO might be the smart choice now. Since JavaScript is a very popular programming language, it could make Lisk move forward to new heights.  Grin

IOCoin current blockchain and bootstrap available at CryptoChainer.com

Hey guys,

Nice to have a bootstrap available, but to be clear to our I/O Coin community: this is not an endorsed Bootstrap by the I/O Coin team.
We will deliver a bootstrap with our next release.

regards
Richard

Thanks for the info. I am already synced btw and ready to add some IO to my brand new wallet. Prices are dirt cheap for a coin with such amazing features. Eventually, the people will realize its true potential, and thus increase demand for IOCoin. By the way, is there an android wallet for IOCoin or has not been thought of yet?  Smiley
10937  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Announcing ZiftrCOIN Release on: March 05, 2016, 12:37:43 AM

There actually is no THE dev; it's a team. I stop by here and answer some questions from time to time because I personally use bitcointalk and feel people deserver some answers sometimes, but I'm definitely not here in any sort of official capacity. So I guess this is another one of those posts. We're still around and the company is doing well. The coin hasn't been abandoned and is still part of the plan. It's just that other stuff has to come first now.

Well that should give us some hope (at least) If Ziftrcoin would have been kept in development, I am pretty sure it would have gone to new heights. After all, its purpose was to make cryptos become used as a mainstream currency. Honestly, I liked everything about this coin but now that everything has been kept silent, (no improvements whatsoever) it could be just another ordinary alt coin (at least what I think)

Still, Ziftcoin has pretty good movement on Bleutrade exchange. (trading activity) One day this coin might shine in the middle of the darkness...or maybe not  Roll Eyes
10938  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Expanse (EXP) - Fair Launch, No ICO, Community DAO, based on Ethereum on: March 04, 2016, 11:51:08 PM

There are two other ETH clones:

1.Soil
http://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/soilcoin/
http://soilcoin.xyz/

2. Shift (The first Ethereum fork)
http://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/shift/
http://shiftcoin.weebly.com/ (Shows info about the current state when scrolling down)

I think all of them can build something great considering the strength of the Ethereum framework. Shift for example just lacks dev activity but the community works on getting one on board.

All of them have their good and bad stuff. At least, all of them have something in common which are based on Ethereum. Seeing Expanse myself, I think that its community and constant improvements is what makes it unique from the others. As for Shift, I like it too but considering that has low development it just makes me hold on to my BTC instead of investing in it. Aside from that, I think that a good community could keep it moving forward. Just sharing my opinion.  Smiley
10939  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is Vitalik Buterin Satoshi Nakamoto? on: March 04, 2016, 10:50:44 PM
When you buy Ethereum, you know who is benefitting.  When you bitcoin, you don't know for certain.  In that basic regard, Ethereum is more transparent than bitcoin.

Actually, you got a point there. Other than being able to verify everything via the blockchain, you can also see what is happening with the ETH Foundation as well as detailed info about the founder (Vitalik) which makes it more transparent with Bitcoin. I guess, that Ethereum would make it a safer investment in my opinion.  Smiley

P.S. Voting has been closed. The winning answer is no.
10940  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DCR] Decred - Hybrid PoW/PoS | btcsuite Devs | Tons of New Features | Go on: March 04, 2016, 10:31:35 PM
I think Poloniex is waiting for a Decred GUI wallet to avoid too many complains(Deposits and withdraws) of users that are not familiarized with command lines.

Agree mate. As soon as we get a GUI wallet things will be much easier non savvy users and for exchanges as well to accept DCR. Patience is key to a good and usable coin. If devs release the GUI wallet earlier, then it would not be as functional as a fully developed wallet that took more time to become released. Just my opinion.  Roll Eyes

I hope to see Decred become one of the top cryptos in the market. A good thing that this coin has is its self governance.  Cheesy
