1101  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: doge volume rising => price? on: October 06, 2016, 02:05:26 PM
Volume has about tripled in the last 24 hours on Poloniex.
Volume is still very small but up about 10x on Yobit.
I'm not 100% sure another pump is about to happen, but I'm going to invest a couple dollars in case it hits.

(Maybe people are just looking for somewhere to put their BTC from selling off Monero.)
1102  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: October 06, 2016, 10:51:53 AM
A lot of the drop was caused by FUD.

Joel Valenzuela (aka thedesertlynx) is actually so fucking disgusting.
How can you present yourself as a journalist when you are so clearly biased?
Half of his posts/ articles are about how great dash is, the other half are about how terrible every other coin is.
Anyone who takes this shill or anything posted on CoinTelegraph seriously is fucking retarded.
1103  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] FACTOM - Introducing Honesty to Record-Keeping on: October 05, 2016, 11:58:42 PM
The more I read about Factom, the more I believe it is  good long term investment.
I'm going to buy a few coins, put them away and check the price in a year or two from now.
If this company is able to successfully partner with some governments or big companies, the price of the coin could really make a nice profit.
1104  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: October 05, 2016, 10:57:28 PM
I wonder where everyone that is abandoning Monero right now will move their coins.
Will they just sit on Bitcoin, or invest in another alt?
There might be some good investment opportunity if everyone decides to go in the same direction with the funds they cashed out of XMR.
1105  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: XMR (Monero) exit scam? on: October 05, 2016, 09:19:01 PM
Are you suggesting that someone who sells drugs and child pornography might have less than stellar morals?
LOL

Hasn't Alphabay already said that the issue on their site was an out-of-date daemon component on their website?
mymonero.com was working a half hour ago when I tried it. If they were having issues it looks to be sorted out.
My roughly six dollars of Monero was untouched! All praise be to the creator!

FUD gets lots of clicks, I guess. Gotta earn that ad revenue somehow.
1106  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: October 05, 2016, 05:25:07 PM
Some people are speculating that my bids are at 0.003. That's not true, but if the price slides close enough to that range I can add some more bids.

I would guess bids were at 0.011 or 0.010
since you said it was close.

I really want to invest some more in Monero but I'm also feeling like Bitcoin might start going back up...
Really wish I had more than this tiny bit of coin to invest. Being a whale must be so much fun.
I will have to survive as a little fish, for now...
Thankfully I'm able to make a tiny profit off my degen gambling habits lol.
1107  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Market manipulation from a technical standpoint on: October 05, 2016, 04:29:00 PM
I wanted to pose a question, since I know there are many programmers and developers who frequent these boards.
The other day I was on an exchange that I do not normally use, when I began observing a coin that was pretty obviously in the middle of a pump.
(Just before the dump)
During this time, I noticed what I believe to be some very suspicious buy and sell orders.

This got me to thinking.
Would a very sophisticated attacker be able to influence the price of a coin through technical manipulation alone?
Obviously anyone with enough bitcoin/ altcoin can tip the scales.
But would someone be able to do this using technical means only?

How good to you think the programmers/ developers on a large exchange are? How good are their formulas/ algorithms for determining a coins price?
What about a smaller exchange?
How much effort would such a task require and how much profit do you think could be made?
Do you believe there are people doing this  currently?
(I would suspect they are but maybe I'm imagining things and it's totally impossible.)
1108  Other / Off-topic / Re: How to tell your Girlfirend about BitcoiN?? on: October 05, 2016, 04:02:15 PM
Yeah I would never tell my girlfriend about my bitcoin savings.
If we are together long enough where she will become my wife, yeah.
But until you know you can really trust someone its better not to mention it, I think.
1109  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How can I do trading? on: October 05, 2016, 03:51:26 PM
I currently use Yobit and Poloniex.

Make a small deposit of ten or twenty dollars and start trading some alt-coins.
Do some research as well, but trading is the type of thing you need to practice.
Even in the last few weeks I've gotten much better at spotting trends in coins.

You also need to be familiar with the interface of each site. Learn about stop orders, how to read the graphs, etc.
Each website might not be exactly the same. Find a site whose layout and functions you prefer and do some trading there.
1110  Economy / Speculation / Re: Is see the new pump is building up, $660 in 2 weeks on: October 05, 2016, 03:42:53 PM
It might take until the end of the year/ start of next year,
but I don't think that $650-660 is a bad prediction.
Price hasn't dipped and seems to be slowly rising a dollar or two each day. We might see a slow, steady increase coming.

Most altcoins have lost a little bit, so maybe everyone is moving a bit of their investments back to BTC?
1111  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [FCT] FACTOM - HOW FACTOIDS WORK - PRICE SPECULATION on: October 05, 2016, 11:14:35 AM

As much as I hate the government being involved in any crypto project name, this company is getting funding and attention from big names.
There might be some potential for long-term growth here.
I would buy stock in this company if it was publicly traded.

(Thanks to u/tokeweed for posting the article in his speculation thread)
1112  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: My Speculation Thread (Charts and Analysis Included ;)) on: October 05, 2016, 10:51:46 AM
Will xmr going to touch sub 0.007? What do you guys think?

I really hope not.
I feel like the market for the coin is really fragile right now.
People were expecting it to do big things, and now that things are getting stale, everyone is in panic mode.
A slight drop might lead to a huge panic selloff which may be hard to recover from.
If it drops to 0.01 it probably will drop to 0.007 unfortunately. Sad
1113  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [FCT] FACTOM - HOW FACTOIDS WORK - PRICE SPECULATION on: October 05, 2016, 02:38:29 AM
Price is up 30% today on Poloniex. What do you guys think?
Just a pump or is this a sustainable rise?
I've heard a little bit about this coin recently and I'm wondering if this is a coin that actually has a future.
1114  Economy / Speculation / Re: What do you think would have happened if someone had posted this imagen in 2012? on: October 04, 2016, 10:46:12 PM
I think the real question is will the price now become like the spike just after 2013
if so, the price would jump to at least a few thousand dollars.
(I don't think it will happen, but I can dream, right?)
1115  Economy / Economics / Re: Is USD being used for illegal activities? on: October 04, 2016, 10:43:23 PM
Most drug dealers/ pimps/ hitmen are still being paid in fiat currencies.
It's only a very small amount of people that are doing illegal activities and being paid in Bitcoin.
Most members of the mafia are not interested in Bitcoin, unless its some scam to defraud people of their currency, or a cyber gang planning to hack an exchange etc.
Most criminals don't even know what crypto currencies are. They are looking to get paid in cash, diamonds, gold jewelry etc.
1116  Economy / Economics / Re: Brexit - why is Sterling dropping on: October 04, 2016, 04:39:19 PM
Corporations are scared they will not be able to do business in the UK.
No one is sure what rules/ regulations will look like, if they will have to move employess/ headquarters out of the region,
if there will be additional taxes/ tariffs, etc

Uncertainty causes doubt,
which causes the currency to drop in value.
1117  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Litecoin to 5.2 $ on: October 04, 2016, 04:34:20 PM
Even a raise to 0.008 would be huge.
30% profit would be big if you had a little bit of money to invest.
You think 0.008 is the peak where you should dump coins because it will come back down?
Or will it stay at that level, in your opinion/ estimate?
1118  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: doge volume rising => price? on: October 04, 2016, 01:31:42 PM
Someone is placing orders for hundreds of Bitcoins worth of Doge on Poloniex.
I'm not sure if pumpers would buy such a large amount at once, I think they would want to conceal the fact they were buying so many coins,
so maybe someone is just doing some speculation,
but someone is definitely buying a lot of these coins.

Add the fact that its been 9-10 months since the last pump and I'm getting a little bit suspicious that some manipulation is about to begin.
1119  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: price altcoin on: October 04, 2016, 02:21:22 AM
99% of coins are garbage.
The only purpose they serve is to pump and dump on an exchange and make some rich people even richer.

I will be surprised if more than two or three coins ever become accepted for payments on any site.
1120  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Avoid reusing Litecoin Address on: October 04, 2016, 01:00:26 AM
Adding an option to be anonymous causes too many complications.
It has to be all or nothing in my opinion.
You might as well fork to another currency if you are going to give people an option like that.
