The indiegogo campaign for the Havekes project launched at 5:15pm EST, let's try to meet and exceed these goals:

1) to raise a minimum of $100 within the first hour of the campaign.
2) to raise a minimum of $300 withing the first 24 hours of the campaign
3) to raise the campaign goal within 10 days .
4) to raise over $1000+ in 15 days
5) to have a minimum of 6 campaign sponsors
6) to have a minimum of 25 'Funders'
7) for the primary beneficiary of the campaign to be extremely proud of the endeavor.

Our campaign is doing well. our first goal has been accomplished.   That first donation came in very fast and has pushed us up very high in the search rankings across the board. Our particular focus is in the areas of 'health' and 'science', to increase our impact on those two keywords in indiegogo's system please use those two keywords individually to find our campaign, then click on the campaign.  [please don't forget to click on the campaign when you find it]    That very specific task supports the campaign because it will boost the campaign in the search rankings.

Who is going to be the first to that donated to the campaign?
Who is going to be the first to donate to the campaign in the new year?
Who is going to be the largest donor?
Who will donate the highest number of times?
Who will make the most campaign connections by sharing campaign info with others?

Please stay tunes we will post many other ways to support the campaign.

1124  Economy / Speculation / Re: Warren Buffet advise not to buy bitcoin. Expect bitcoin price to collapse. on: December 31, 2014, 07:26:37 AM
The arrogence of broke kids thinking they know more about investing than a multi billionaire.  LOL

Buffetts point is that there's no intrinsic value  in the aartificial scarcity because the code can be created ad infinitum.  Anyone can create a currency.  The hard part is to get others to accept it as money

that applies to every currency

for the most part fiat currency comes in two forms paper or metal, yet far more money is moved electronically than via paper or metal currency so clearly electronic currency is the big winner here.

Many around the world pay big money to order international wires for the ability to move large sums of money from point 'a' to point 'b', where is the "scarcity" or "intrinsic value" in a wire transfer?

Cryptocurrency solves a real problem in the world of electronic money and electronic money transfers, once the system is safe it will produce many trillionaires and quadrillionaires --  well beyond Buffet bucks.

1125  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][EMC2] Einsteinium | funding science education, research, & development on: December 30, 2014, 08:21:01 PM
The crowdfunding campaign is delayed to minor technical problems. We'll launch it soon!!! Sorry about that.

Sorry about the delay folks. It seems indiegogo has changed some of their policy since I last conducted a campaign with them.

Since time is of the essence for this campaign instead of the foundation being the intermediary for all funds, indiegogo funds
will be sent directly to the campaign beneficiary, all other funds will go to campaign beneficiary via the foundation.

For the long term, I will reach out to indiegogo leadership to invite them to consider our mission and operations so that they
could appreciate our responsible procedures and see how they would fit into any reasonable crowd funding platform policy.

The indiegogo campaign will commence once the campaign is updated with beneficiary info:

1127  Economy / Speculation / Re: Warren Buffet advise not to buy bitcoin. Expect bitcoin price to collapse. on: December 29, 2014, 05:49:30 AM
Warren Buffet is a smart guy, some that understand Bitcoin and its potential may think the fact that he doesn't invest in BTC as stupid, but he actually has the right idea. Don't invest in what you don't know. Hes not a tech guy, so he doesn't invest in tech. Will that bite him in the ass and will he feel regret for not buying? No, the guy is loaded and he will find other traditional investment mediums to make money in.

He's got lots of IBM, article indicated that he bought more too.

Why IBM Is One of the Biggest Warren Buffett Stocks "Berkshire owned 8.3% of Big Blue, making it the third-largest holding in Buffett's portfolio."
http://www.fool.com/investing/general/2014/11/28/why-ibm-is-one-of-the-biggest-warren-buffett-stock.aspx

Frankly speaking, Bitcoin is not a safe investment. Don't get me wrong, I love Bitcoin, and I advocate its benefits to anyone who wants to know, but at this point in the game, if you don't understand Bitcoin, don't buy it. Your chances of losing money in the volatile market is nothing compared to your chances of having your investments scammed or hacked away from you. Until Bitcoin is as idiotproof as credit card transactions, ie there is a button you can click to completely secure your coins, investing in Bitcoins is not the right idea for people who don't have the aptitude to understand it.

Absolutely.

EMC2 is working on a crowd funding campaign to help raise funds for scientific research, it will start soon.  Use this link to see the campaign page coming together:
http://www.indiegogo.com/project/preview/f5c49cab

Here is an opportunity to promote CryptoDatabase as a sponsor of the campaign.   Take a look at the sponsor logos and the perks to see how CryptoDatabase would be promoted.  Let me know if you are interested and to what degree.

Merry Christmas to all.

Can you explain to me the purpose of this campaign and what it will entail. The campaign itself is not very informative of the motives behind it. What will the money be used for, what is its end game, how will it help something that is widely known in the medical world?

Thanks for your questions

There are different ways of viewing this campaign, the primary audience is the crowd funding community not associated with cryptocurrency; a second audience is the cryptocurrency industry, and a third way of viewing this campaign is by a science research audience.

With that said, and given that we (you and me) are in the CC industry I'll start from there.   This campaign is being conducted at indiegogo the second largest crowd funding campaign in the world.  The campaign will have many eyes on it.  This is a way to tacitly introduce CC to the wider worldwide community.  Indiegogo does not currently accept any CC on their platform our ongoing campaigns (this is the first) will very likely change that.

The Einsteinium Foundation has a mission to raise funds for scientific research, our mining tax creates a pool of funds that we provide to grant applicants that are approved by the board.   Recently we intergrated crowd funding into the process to enable the grant beneficiary to receive more money than we could immediately supply.  This enables us to market the project, our coin, our sponsor items, and crypto all at the same time.

From the perspective of the science community this is a science research project seeking funding for two things, to provide funds in appreciation of work done, and as motivation for more work to be done.    More specifically, in 2009 the Abel lab make a great discovery that lack of sleep triggers a chemical in the brain that causes memory loss.  Recently, the lab also with Dr. Havekes created a method to interrupt that trigger in mice to reduce or eliminate memory loss due to lace of adequate sleep.  Dr. Havekes' intention is to apply his knowledge and methods to humans such that people who often get low levels of sleep ("shift workers and doctors")  may suffer less memory loss due to sleep deprivation.

Often times when dealing with scientific research its very difficult to see all of the connections, but as one person commented at youtube this video: "Suffering from diagnosed insomnia myself, this research is great and will support".

The largest audience is the general crowd funding audience, the purpose of this campaign is to make them aware of some problems caused by sleep deprivation and the work Dr. Havekes is doing to solve the cognitive problems associated with sleep deprivation.   A secondary purpose is to make that same audience aware of cryptocurrency, and that there is an org in that world that funds scientific research.

So to answer your first question -- what is the purpose of the campaign -- to provide awareness of a problem, to encourage support of the investigation of the cause, and to support the search for the solution.

You said: "The campaign itself is not very informative of the motives behind it."   I'm sorry about that, I invite you to please help us to recreate the message so that it is concise and cogent and effective.

You also: "What will the money be used for, what is its end game, how will it help something that is widely known in the medical world?"  this campaign isn't for making a product or service, its for rewarding successful research and to inspire more research.  Such is the case for most scientific grants ie: nobel.

As for Cryptodatabase it's an opportunity to get involved with what we are doing at the very start.

Recently I was asked 'what's the purpose of the campaign', 'where is the money going', and 'how will it help something that is widely known in the medical world'?

These are great questions, the answers may differ slightly depending on the audience, or the perspective of the questioner. so I thought to share a portion of
my response here.

There are different ways of viewing this campaign, the first way is from the crowd funding community (not associated with cryptocurrency), a second way is through the  cryptocurrency industry, and a third way of viewing this campaign is by a science research audience.

We are are connected to the cryptocurrency industry so I'll start there.   This campaign is being conducted at indiegogo the second largest crowd funding campaign in the world.
The campaign will have many eyes on it.  Indiegogo does not currently accept any CC on their platform our ongoing campaigns (this is the first) will very likely change that.

The Einsteinium Foundation has a mission to raise funds for scientific research, our mining tax creates a pool of funds that provide grants to deserving applicants.   Recently we intergrated crowd funding into the process to likely enable the grant beneficiary to receive more money than we could immediately supply.  This enables us to market the project, our coin, our sponsor items, and crypto to benefit everyone involved.

From the perspective of the science community this is a science research project seeking funding for two things, to provide funds in appreciation of work done, and as motivation for more work to be done.    More specifically, in 2009 the Abel lab made a great discovery, that lack of sleep triggers a chemical in the brain that causes memory loss.  Recently, the lab with Dr. Havekes created a method to interrupt that trigger in mice to reduce or eliminate memory loss due to lace of adequate sleep.  Our grant seeks to reward that success.  Dr. Havekes' intention is to apply his knowledge and methods to humans such that people who often get low levels of sleep ("shift workers and doctors")  may suffer less memory loss due to sleep deprivation.  Our grant seeks to motivate him to move forward with that intention.

Often times when dealing with scientific research its very difficult to see all of the connections, but as one person who commented to this video at youtube said: "Suffering from diagnosed insomnia myself, this research is great and will support", clearly this research has meaningful purpose.

The largest audience is the general crowd funding audience, the purpose of this campaign is to make them aware of some problems caused by sleep deprivation and the work Dr. Havekes is doing to solve the cognitive problems associated with sleep deprivation.   A secondary purpose is to make that same audience aware of cryptocurrency, and that there is an org in that world that, 'in some small way', is doing what they can to fund scientific research.

In fact, when BTC was doing relatively 'OK' (not good or well) btc got the eye of some wall street kids.  That was earlier this year, ever since then BTC has lost lots and lots of ground.

..and by "ground" you only mean price?

When the price was $1,100, Bitcoin had a lot less infrastructure than it does now.

There is more to the Bitcoin economy other than price. When are you people going to quit with this one-dimensional thinking?

"One-dimensional thinking"?  Me?     hahahaa you have got to be kidding.

Firstly, what I meant by 'ground' was price, regard, respect, interest, value, market share, etc ... the whole package, as a package.

Second, the price is the leading indicator of community interest, the leading indicator of currency intergration/assimilation,  and the leading indicator of overall relevance.

Price is telling the only story that needs to be heard at this point.  If the price was substantially higher prudent investors would look at other factors as part of their due diligence in considering it for investment.

Third, you can have all of the infrastructure in the world but if your product is unsafe it's not worthy of investment at any price,

If you want to pin me to a single dimension about btc it's not price, it's SECURITY.   With proper security BTC skyrockets in price, regard, respect, and meaningful value.

1140  Economy / Speculation / Re: Warren Buffet advise not to buy bitcoin. Expect bitcoin price to collapse. on: December 26, 2014, 07:03:25 PM
Warren Buffet saying bitcoin is a scam:

http://www.businessinsider.com/warren-buffett-money-tips-for-2015-2014-12

How is this going to affect price?
i think it will give bitcoin a boost
as one of the best investor is talking about something can't be a simple currency
some big player who don't know about bitcoin before will have a look into this and might be give it a try

At this point, BTC has no place on wall street.   The only time "big players" in the currency markets, commodities markets, any other markets may give BTC a look is during performance periods.   In fact, when BTC was doing relatively 'OK' (not good or well) btc got the eye of some wall street kids.  That was earlier this year, every since then BTC has lost lots and lots of ground.  There's nothing to consider until the cryptocurrency community show more faith in their own currency.

Its time to clean up the cryptocurrency industry, time to make this a safe place to invest -- that is how to get outsiders looking at btc with favor.
