Really nice idea guys, I agree with the gesture, and I know I have been watching Bruce's work for quite a while now and would definitely not be into Bitcoin as much had I not enjoyed The Bitcoin Show early on.
YouTipIt.org would be a great place to have a landing page for this idea.

People who spouse backseat modding hiding behind the guise of "the rules" to promote a world view of censorship and snitching cause far more damage than all the trolls calling someone names put together ever will. No one is forcing you to read or acknowledge their comments.
Exactly. So when can we put these rules in place

There's this crazy thing called "block user"
Moderate yourselves folks, you don't have to keep reading bullshit you don't want to, and you don't have to outsource the task to a "moderator". Folks have better things to do than babysit us, ya dig?
Good idea, let's also take out the report to moderator button and have no rules lol I am worried more so about the look of the board and it's future, especially now being detached from the official site. I mean, honestly, these forums are about dead now with no 'official' home (bitcointalk.org who?) , so I guess the theory of "fuck it, deal with it yourself" is a decent attitude. I dig.

Dude trust me, SEO's do that if there's money involved... in this case to have a bunch of us geeks bitch about the next hack isn't exactly fun. LOL!
You have a full audience of geeks who want to bitch, who are looking for the official forums from Bitcoin.org through their link created on the front page. Seems like it would be nice to work with.

Win that number one spot for the term "Bitcoin Forums" and replace this unofficial abortion and embarrassment that seems to be these forums, where Bitcoin.org hath rejected you for being the people who are into Bitcoin. tl;dr Bitcoin.org Forums link redirects to a Google search for "Bitcoin Forums" rather than these, obviously no longer official, forums. Hell, all you people that talk about Google Bombing bullshit ( http://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=26863.0 ) have a full audience to enjoy for at least a few hours I'm sure, you have you terms picked out for you, enjoy targeting a Bitcoin audience.

Fake PGP key was known already or did I just read your post wrong?

It is super easy to not get scammed.
To not be hacked or etc, that is another thing.
I have information loose out there now because of tamperers to a site, but honestly, keeps me changing passwords and I am definitely lucky to not have lost any actual coin yet. Knock on wood and all that, because I do know one thing, shit can happen to anybody no matter how safe you are.

Has anyone contacted law enforcement about mybitcoin? Is this the FBI's job? If nobody gives a real answer then I will call them myself. This is a major crime effecting many people for a lot of money. It should be prosecuted. Sam Look what Bruce from OnlyOneTV is doing. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=34211.0

Well, technically, insults are considered trolling, and trolling (on more than a few occasions) is a bannable offense.
If there's someone you'd like to be reviewed for banning, Theymos has the only and final call on that. PM him. Us mods have no ban power, and ban requests can come from anybody.
That is a logical way of thinking, these are Bitcoin forums, insults would be meant to distract from such discussions, thus is in fact trolling. Noted about theymos, I think I seen that mentioned before but forgot about it.

MyBitcoin.com goes AWOL along with everyones Bitcoins. go to fbi.gov (Click CONTACT US) to file a complaint about your missing bitcoins. Any public information regarding this event is welcomed on the freenode #bitcoin-police channel. ( http://tinyurl.com/mybitcoin ) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4FZldY-ZBBE
Maybe people who don't catch when the show airs from the official thread ( here) may want to catch the show for this episode.

hahahha, wtf. Perfect example. I think that is enough posts, no? They can have as many opinions on situations as they want, but the part where they just talk shit about someone is not Bitcoin Discussion, so does not need to be on the (non) Official Bitcoin Forums.

Although not having a UABB accreditation says absolutely nothing as to whether your business is 'legitimate' or not (is every business in the US accredited by the BBB?), it does show the a particular vender is willing to take the extra steps towards protecting its consumers from fraud and in showing it is in fact capable and willing to take responsibility for its actions. Make what the accreditation requirements be up to the public. Take polls. Etc. The idea itself isn't bad, the portion of it being part of a private group is what makes it just not work in my eyes. Also, even mentioning the BBB, oh man, that is just giving me bad feelings all over about having any groups trying to give stamps as to what is okay or not. I am offering no solutions to the problems, but I just do not feel the UABB is one.

No, I prefer the current policy of not banning someone over a single post (unless they are a newbie), only if the problem becomes a pattern.
If not one post, then how many occurrences? Things like this are easily tracked with post history. I can probably sit for five minutes and think of one or two people, that I enjoy a good portion of their posts, could easily and happily see gone because of retarded insults.

Hey, it could happen. Easily too. You want everyone to use that 'report to moderator' button, I assure you it will be used. I fucking loooooooooooove trolls, but a good intelligent troll that can fuck with people. The ones that are "you are a fookin morran duchhe" can be done away with easily, and should be. Opinions should not be censored when in discussion on the topic of Bitcoin. Not against members of the forum at all. Scammers or not, no one needs to be name called on the god damn internet. Seriously, what the fuck. Damn children! My suggestion, tattle telling (Irony of last sentence on purpose, makes this post no less true)

Saddest day in Bitcoin history is when I see the "official" forums no longer associated with the "official" site.
Sucks big time.
Anyways, switch to vBulletin. Worth the cash. The community would no doubt pay for it if there was a bit donate for bitcoin to make this forum better banner at the top. Would be paid for in a week I bet.

If I were a government agency, say the CIA, and I was keeping up on world events, and I knew the government I worked for, say the US government, was looking for a way to legitimize its financial situation via the entity through which it gave a monopoly on currency, say the Federal Reserve, I imagine the first thing I would do would be to have my monetary/financial wing that monitors new technology find a currency, then I might find and identify the largest entity, say Mt Gox or MyBitcoin, within that organization, then bribe, force, hack, or replace them with myself, in an attempt to both lower the value of that currency to acquire it at the lowest possible value. Then, when I knew I had sufficient enough amounts of it, I would force any anonymity out of the currency, and legitimize it. I like this tin foil hat theory and subscribe to it now I have heard it. Except the end part where they try and legitimize it.
