@ V 500: 'decentral network of private metal-backers'?? IndiaMikeZulu has been theorising this for . . . well, check this out:
"YACOIN IS, TODAY, THE FIRST MINOR ALTCOIN EVER TO GO 'BI-CURRENCY.' Merchant facility is the bottom line at this point in altcoin development. BEFORE CHRISTMAS, I WILL P-WIP A TEN-OUNCE BAR OF SILVER BULLION, wihich will be another world first."
That was November last year. The Yacoin community paid no attention whatsoever -- but we did 'P-WIP' some tiny packets of coin. ('P-WIPping' is sales made by Internet-banking.)
And we already have a 10-month old proof-of-concept physical alternative-currency in circulation. It's backed 50/50 by crypto and silver bullion. Market cap: $2,000
We just been waiting for a community smart enough to figure It All out!!
"So to have an asset-backed and at the same time truely decentralized coin is not possible. Or is it?" I betcha a bottle of cold stout we have one within a year.
Mark (IndiaMikeZulu), Australia
So, IMZ are you suggesting to move the metal-backed idea to UNO or are you promoting a move to YACOIN? I'm all for incorporating metals into the UNO equation. In fact, I setup an offer for such a trade on UNO-EX trade page if anyone is interested... Get in on the trading: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=757232.0;topicseen

On a more serious note, I was able to download and use the app to create a vanity wallet. Great app! Big thanks to the developer!!
Question is this, after backing up my wallet, is there anyway to unencrypt the wallet in order to import the private key and then reencrypt?
If so, what is the procedure / console command line prompts?
Thanks!
1) Unlock your wallet for 10 minutes (600 seconds): walletpassphrase <your passphrase> 600 2) Import your private key: importprivkey <your private key> 3) Lock your wallet: Glad you like the vanity gen, feel free to donate: ucrYPTxQPKkb2WTU57PjurHbCHf3rACMJh Sent you a few grams. Preciate the help!

Very sorry! I did not manage to get the wallet working. I thought I had a backup but that does not work either. I will have to start saving all over again. Fortunately, I have another 5 coins on Cryptsy I know i did something stupid! Just bad luck! what was your problem? What's the error-notification? How is loosing coins related to not get it to sync? I think it isn't. Delete blockchain and redownload with correct addnodes. Should be fine. Does it take awhile to import the key?
yes, it rescans the chain. Can take several minutes. It finally stopped spinning. I locked and then went out of the wallet. Restarted and there was my vanity wallet. Big thanks to all who helped!

"" didn't unlock my wallet. Any other suggestions? Ah, may have found something... Do you have an unobtanium.conf file? If not, create one and/or add this line to it: Then restart the client and try again.. If it is still causing an issue, maybe fill in your unobtanium.conf file with more items: listen=1 rpcuser=someusername rpcpassword=somepassword rpcport=65535 server=1 rpcallowip=127.0.0.1
replace someusername and somepassword with unique values... Maybe this is related: https://github.com/bitcoin/bitcoin/issues/3100That worked to unlock the wallet. When I did the import private key, the wheel started spinning and the screen greyed out. Does it take awhile to import the key?

Yes, I did remove the <>. I'll try the "" and report back.
Thanks for your help!

Speaking of conspiracies, I've wondered if Cryptsy has bots that keep their price below .004. I really don't know anything about the bot-world, but it's interesting that it hardly gets in the 4s. Also, they have a big stash of UNO..

(code -14) I know that my passcode is correct, because I use it to change to a new passcode. Also, in the command line, i use the carats, < >, correct? With the passcode inside?

@ Benefactor and Bitcoin Charlie: apologies to you. Formal is good!
M.
No worries, thanks for all of your great ideas and all you are contributing to the cause! BTW, under your internal trading program, if I were wanting to buy some UNO with a 1 ounce silver round, would that type of listing be allowed?

I would like to voice my dissent at being referred to as an 'unovian'. I don't like it. Too odd, and reflects poorly on the "Unobtanium community" and the "Unobtanium community members", diluting the very real power, intrinsic value, and dignity in those spelled out words, IMHO. Might pay off to take the effort and write out the full terms. Please be cognizant of good PR and poor. +1 I prefer a more formal approach. We are a differentiated currency and should market that way...
