I need some advice please:
My wallet is stuck at Block 499205. Have wallet 0.9.5  Huh Huh Huh

addnode=rockchain.info
addnode=coinex.pw
...

Correct or wrong?
Wrong.  Smiley  That's a very old addnode list.

If you are using 0.9.5 you most likely will not need any addnodes. But if you do, get them from the opening paragraph of this thread (ie post #1), scroll down toward the bottom and you'll find them.

I'd post them here, but I prefer that people always get them from the opening paragraph, as we try to keep those fresh. Anything that I would post in a message will eventually become outdated.

Oh no, I feel a meme coming on...

Very sorry! I did not manage to get the wallet working.
I thought I had a backup but that does not work either.
I will have to start saving all over again.

 Sad

Fortunately, I have another 5 coins on Cryptsy Cry

I know i did something stupid! Just bad luck!

Hmmm... Unfortunately I don't have a windows host to try this on... On Linux I don't seem to have an issue with this command and cannot reproduce the rpc_io_service error you describe... Does anyone else have an issue using walletpassphrase to unlock their wallet in the qt console?

Ah, may have found something...

Do you have an unobtanium.conf file? If not, create one and/or add this line to it:

Code:
server=1

Then restart the client and try again..

If it is still causing an issue, maybe fill in your unobtanium.conf file with more items:

Code:
listen=1
rpcuser=someusername
rpcpassword=somepassword
rpcport=65535
server=1
rpcallowip=127.0.0.1

replace someusername and somepassword with unique values...

Maybe this is related:

That worked to unlock the wallet.  When I did the import private key, the wheel started spinning and the screen greyed out. Does it take awhile to import the key?

what was your problem? What's the error-notification? How is loosing coins related to not get it to sync? I think it isn't. Delete blockchain and redownload with correct addnodes. Should be fine.

 Does it take awhile to import the key?

yes, it rescans the chain. Can take several minutes.

It finally stopped spinning. I locked and then went out of the wallet. Restarted and there was my vanity wallet.

Big thanks to all who helped!

On a more serious note, I was able to download and use the app to create a vanity wallet. Great app! Big thanks to the developer!!

Question is this, after backing up my wallet, is there anyway to unencrypt the wallet in order to import the private key and then reencrypt?

If so, what is the procedure / console command line prompts?

Thanks!

1) Unlock your wallet for 10 minutes (600 seconds):

Code:
walletpassphrase <your passphrase> 600

2) Import your private key:

Code:
importprivkey <your private key>

3) Lock your wallet:

Code:
walletlock

Glad you like the vanity gen, feel free to donate: ucrYPTxQPKkb2WTU57PjurHbCHf3rACMJh

Sent you a few grams. Preciate the help!

comment i made in another thread about metal-backed coins:

"if you wanted to back a coin with metal you should be ready to ship the metal worldwide 365 days a year. If i can't get metal for coins delivered to my house it is most likely a scam. (some may not agree but that's how i see it)

You also need a central point for it (the backer).
So to have an asset-backed and at the same time truely decentralized coin is not possible. Or is it?

Unobtanium might be a coin that in the future is backed by metal in a decentralized way. Many investors (each for themselves and privately) could start trading for metal and/or putting out other backing-ideas.
So Unobtanium could be backed with silver by myself and others too in the future.
It's still the future though. "

thought i paste it in here too.
If we achieved a decentral backing with metal for uno, it would be the first coin to do so and that would also be a task not so easy to repeat by other coins. I think as things stand with this solid longterm-community of metal-lovers and inflation-haters ( Wink ), Uno is one of the coins with the best prerequisites to do so.

Think: organically grown decentral network of private metal-backers of a very, very low-inflation-coin (and a fair one). WOW!
If it is truely honest, solid and longterm you can't beat it. No other coin will beat it ever.

@ V 500: 'decentral network of private metal-backers'?? IndiaMikeZulu has been theorising this for . . . well, check this out:

"YACOIN IS, TODAY,  THE FIRST MINOR ALTCOIN EVER TO GO 'BI-CURRENCY.'
Merchant facility is the bottom line at this point in altcoin development. BEFORE CHRISTMAS, I WILL P-WIP A TEN-OUNCE BAR OF SILVER BULLION, wihich will be another world first."

That was November last year. The Yacoin community paid no attention whatsoever -- but we did 'P-WIP' some tiny packets of coin. ('P-WIPping' is sales made by Internet-banking.)

And we already have a 10-month old proof-of-concept physical alternative-currency in circulation. It's backed 50/50 by crypto and silver bullion. Market cap: $2,000

We just been waiting for a community smart enough to figure It All out!!

"So to have an asset-backed and at the same time truely decentralized coin is not possible. Or is it?" I betcha a bottle of cold stout we have one within a year.

decentralized, private backing by investors and enthusiasts gonna happen for Uno. Pretty sure. I'll be watching what IMZ does and possibly come up with something similar myself a little later Wink

So, IMZ are you suggesting to move the metal-backed idea to UNO or are you promoting a move to YACOIN?

I'm all for incorporating metals into the UNO equation.  In fact, I setup an offer for such a trade on UNO-EX trade page if anyone is interested...

Get in on the trading:

Hey, Bitcoin Charlie! Not a move to Yacoin (Heaven help us!). Just a reference to muckin' about with bullion sales.

I was actually thinking of your gig yesterday: gotta find good info that explains the drop in silver and gold prices in the last two years. Luckily, I suspect that a good number of Unobtanium community members do think that bullion would be a good 'anchor' (as the economy goes really pear-shaped).

guys, can we all make a pact not to talk about politics here in this thread?  delving too deep into these subjects is almost certain to drive wedges between various members. There's plenty of other places on the internet I can go if I want to break out the popcorn

lets just focus on our goal of making Unobtanium a stable, attractive, and profitable store of value.

Well said.  UNO is to be the most attractive store of value.
If we make that a factual truth then you have the freedom to buy any thing you wish with it.

Quote
We shouldn't encourage [the black market] but there is also no way to stop them. Let's just not make it a big point of discussion/focus. -V500

Not So Subtle Hint :  If you can trust UNO to hold a stable and rising $USD value, because it is attractive to all parties, then who can prevent you from exchange it (in small amounts) for a none stable 'shadowy monero kinds' to purchase via any shopping sTORes as you wish.

Disinfo-Talking-Point :: crypto=criminal ... FALSE ... 99.999% of crimes are facilitated by $USD or other paper fiat.  FACT: Criminals prefer $100 bills.  FACT: The biggest banks in America are so dependent on narco-cash-flow that they have been caught & fined for laundering $BILLION$ in dirty cash.  And nobody seems to notice that elephant. So please lets actively help end this nonsense when we hear it in the general public.

conclusion:

so we need uno/drk , uno/btcd , uno/xmr , un/cloak (and so on) - markets in the mid/longterm because there seems to be real demand? Is that what you are saying?* Cheesy

Someone unloaded 500 Un on Cryptsy today, but Un is still hanging in there around 004 across the exchanges. Still a thin order book on both the sell and buy sides.
the 500 was a buy order !

I had a backup of my wallet.
Then everything removed. Then downloaded again. Updated blocks.
Only backup was gone. So the empty wallet now works fine.
