Hi all, so its been a few weeks and I've been mining and storing grain in my wallet. But I have yet to receive any interest on my stored grains! Has anyone received an interest payout?
Thanks
GRA: 9LSgR13Uz9Vzcje6gqDENSoW6cJJsmUWpf
Thanks to the kind soul for the 5000 GRA donation. Still no interest, but thank you very much! It can take a while. Yeah, I've been getting interest. Are you keeping your wallet open? Have this problem too, absolutely no interest and I leave the wallet open constantly when my laptop is turned on, which is fairly often (10-12 hours a day, more on my days off). Could it be that I'm currently mining other coins or because I only have 897.418965 GRA in my wallet? GRA: 9JgnvkJnhNmYahurH3wrsU6962pbe6KFsL Usually the pos blocks start after about 2 weeks of holding of the coins in the wallet. If you move the coins around (from one wallet to another), count time will reset. So please be patient. The pos block will be generated once the coin-day satisfy certain conditions.

Looks like the switchover is smooth, and everything is as expected so far...

Great news! Coinpayments.net added support for Grain! This will make the shops/services accepting Grain a lot easy, since Coinpayments.net provides a lot tools and utilities for creating the payment system. I will write a tutorial on how a shop can integrate with Coinpayments system.

Hi, We have created a new Grain pool @ gra.cryptochomper.com for anyone who would like to sign up and start chomping.... We are planning to introduce other pools later on so any feedback welcome. CryptoChomper Great pool, switched all my miners over. It is a nice pool... but why you change the link (I fixed it in this quote)? Be careful guys, look at the link before you click on it.

First, the sources on github are current. Next, the support from the people to the coin is not big enough yet to make these parameters as stable as Novacoin has, for example. Yes, it might be the diff will not stabilize more or less in the near future. We need to spread the word, push the businesses to accept grain, etc. All of us. And I see that the community does this, so I have a faith that the grain succeeds eventually.
Edited: the support means both PoW ad PoS hashing power
Thank you for your answer, The good thing is the price of this coin is going up, and, it will makes the new miner considering to join in grain, and, will become better and better, Maybe everybody believe it, so, keep mining (include me), actually, last 4 hours, I didn't got any blocks with 2.2M hashes, and, it makes me little bit sad ~ As PoW blocks are the main source for coins, hopefully with 3X kicks in the mining (especially the diff) will be much better.

I've created grain-qt builds for OS X 10.7 and OS X 10.9 (no access to 10.8 at this point). I had to change the code in a couple of places to fix compile-time errors, but these changes have been incorporated into wallets for other coins (like DOGE), so I think they should be safe for building for other systems. I also had to make an OS X icon file, which is missing from the graincoin git repository. Although beautiful, the official grain logo is pretty much unacceptable for tiny icons, so I made e from the selection below as the tiny icon. See this post: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=361503.msg4615800#msg4615800I imagine the tiny icon to be the grain symbol (much like BTC for bitcoin). I took a poll and it seemed like e is a clear winner (I was the tie-breaker). So, what is the best way to - Make the executables available?
- Lobby for adoption of e as the official symbol (simply to get the issue of tiny icons resolved)?
Also, is the git repository taking pull requests?
Nice symbols, I like (a), (b), and (g), the rest are good too, but some are similar to "E" then to "G".

i intend to invest in a small new coin. can anyone tell me about the state of the graincoin?
Grain is a PoW/PoS coin, with active devs and a great community, see OP for details. It is traded at coinedup now: GRA/BTC and GRA/LTC. Grain has been in steady growth, we don't do pumps and dumps. We are building on long term values of Graincoin. The team has been working on improving Grain. We will get more shops, services, games to support it, and will get into more exchanges.

LK7, GLX, BUK, MPL, COL and others are no different than GRA. Having solo'd them all, its easy for me to see the similarities.
Some have many orphans, some are PoS only... all are very problematic. Copy n paste coins.. period.
In a sense all coins after bitcoin litecoin, ppcoin and primecoin are copy and paste coins as they bring nothing new. The question is how the coin is handled after it appeared. You have seen my short discussion with LK7's dev. Most of these clones have no ongoing support from the devs after the coin is launched. Here I found an active developer who I decided to join when he offered. We know COL and some other are pure PoS, but GRA is both PoS and PoW, and both blocks are generating. Hope with new algorithm the diff will be behaving more reasonably. I have to agree that PoW/PoS coins have a lot more problems than PoW only coins, but we are actively fixing issues so hopefully Grain will work fine for both PoW and PoS. If that is really the case, then why is Peercoin, the first PoS Pow hybrid, so stable ? Peercoin is using a different algorithm (SHA-256), and Grain and other most PoW/PoS coins you see in alt coin forum are some descendents of Novacoin. The main reason, I think, Peercoin and Novacoin is comparably more stable, is because of its much bigger block time. Both have block time of 10 mins, as opposed to Grain, which is 30 sec. Clearly (for evident reasons), the more the block time, the more stable the network will be. Fast block time creates a lot of challenges, such as orphans, stability of blockchain etc.

The LK7 dev claims that the LK7 orphans are actually being stolen.
After seeing both of my GRA blocks orphan earlier, I can't help but wonder if the same problem is happening here.
The ledger should not be editting itself.
How could that happen? From what I know, nodes can force the blockchain to only accept the blocks and/or transactions they choose. Something like a 51% attack.. @bee7 https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=295157.msg4178498#msg4178498I think this is a pure diff problem, which induce a lot orphans. If you check the number of PoW blocks (and PoS blocks), they should be OK (check the block explorer). Only problem is that, instead of diff 1.5 and find a block every 3-6 mins, now you have a diff at 0.1 and find a block every 3-6 mins, but then with 50 orphans in-between, the orphans are due to the diff.

Thanks jdebunt A minor issue, but since the last time we updated, the startup grain logo has lost its transparency. I'm sure it was transparent before, but now it has a white background.
thanks, will fix it in the next release

Version 1.4 is Released. Version 1.4 is a mandatory upgrade, so please upgrade as soon as possible to avoid a fork. Version 1.4 changes the 12X maximum PoW block time to 3X, this will decrease the PoW mining difficulty and make PoW mining more efficient, while preserving the PoS features. The switchover point is set at block 130000, which will be in about 5-7 days (we are at block 111815 now). Version 1.4 also has the latest checkpoints. Download links and source in github are updated.
We will continue to subsidize 5000 GRAs for each PoW block mined, until the switch block (Block 130000).
