121  Other / Meta / Re: Selling accounts is wrong or right? on: March 05, 2015, 08:16:56 PM
I feel left out here because I consider selling any account illegal. People in the Digital Goods section sell their forum account, Amazon account, Phone Numbers, Email accounts, PayPal accounts and I don't know how many more accounts are being sold and bought.

I doubt its illegal. You might violate some companies terms of service though.

I can't get why is this allowed? I have just witnessed a "Trusted" member who sold his account and the buyer was indeed a scammer who tried scamming another member with the help of the Trusted account. I don't know how many times has it happened here.

Trading bitcointalk.org accounts is allowed because a ban of those trades is considered unenforcable. It would be impossible for mods to enforce the rule, because sales would just happen elsewhere. It is however discouraged for the reason you stated. It allows someone to buy a trust rating.

Selling Trusted PayPal accounts is the biggest blunder as the buyer can use it for money laundering and illegal things while the seller will be blamed for those deeds and it is a CRIME.

Selling a "trusted" paypal account is certainly not a crime. Many things are used for money laundering and illegal things. I hear knifes are dangerous killing instruments, yet people use them daily to butter their bread. Dont jump to conclusions, I cant speak for paypal, but most bitcointalk account sales probably happen for paid signatures.

This is why we can't have nice things.

I think you should acknowledge that even you had your doubts about AM (being like all the others) for a while ...

Oh, I'm not saying that i didn't have doubts about AM being honest.  Still not 100% sure friedcat is not coming back to make everything better.
Also not 100% sure that Nigerian Prince d00d isn't planning to make me fabulously rich, but not sending him any money nevertheless.
For the same reason (tho, admittedly, haunted by doubt), I didn't "invest" in AM.
It's not about guarantees, just lousy odds.

BTW, I also would have advised Jack against buying Magic BTCeans with Mom's CC.  Even now, armed with the knowledge of just how handsomely those BTCeans paid off, I'd hesitate to advise doing it.  Getting jaded, I guess.

...Naïve person that I am...

You've sent coin to Canadian Anon claiming to be an unlicenced Panamanian exchange, assuming that coin will go to Chinese Anon calling himself "friedcat."
You're clearly well-versed in international finance, a super-srs d00d.  Anything but naive Roll Eyes

If Friedcat was a scammer, why wait until now to move the funds? I'd think they'd have moved the funds +/- 5 minutes after "disappearing." Curious.
...

If he controls the private keys, why would he?  You do understand how Bitcoin works, right?  Read Satoshi's white paper, brah, it's powerful stuff.

How is it you Bitcoiners can't seem to learn how to read?

"This concurrent resolution of the Legislature and the Governor proposes the creation of the Council on Payment Options for State Services to study whether and how the state could accept bitcoin as a valid form of payment."

Would I put off buying a fleet of new cars for my company if cars depreciated more substantially?  The answer is "obviously yes."

So you would never ever buy new cars for your company (and why did you purchase cars at all: remember, the fallacy argument is that such purchase is (forever) postponed).

Of course I would buy new cars.  I just wouldn't buy as many cars in my lifetime as I would if the money I held was going to be worth less next year.
Let's say I live for a hundred years.  In that time, my dealer could sell me 2 cars, or 200.  Which do you suppose he'd like more?

Getting back to something more realistic & my company's fleet: It could be replaced every 3 years, or every 4.  Or every 5.  Yes, I would buy new cars, but not as often.  Get it?

Now asking a Bitcoiner to read an entire post in one go is mean and unreasonable, so read the text below again.
Bonus: see if you've missed anything.

...
Would I put off buying a fleet of new cars for my company if cars depreciated more substantially?  The answer is "obviously yes."
No one is talking about necessities, like morning coffee.  I don't care if I have to pay double @ 7am for the same cup I could buy for its regular price @ 7pm.  Don't extrapolate from this that I don't care about saving money, and that 200% daily deflation would not alter my buying habits.

My turn:
Would you invest in car company stock that nets 2% a year, knowing that keeping your money in your mattress Trezor would be both safer & net the same end result?

Now, if you still feel that you've made a cogent argument, keep rereading until that feeling goes away.
You're welcome.

.033 Sad  Yes, hope is always the last to die, but why can't you be humane to put it out of its misery?

Let me be frank, gentlemen: I'm disappointed.
Instead of the fiery, satisfying spectacle I expected, you Bitcoiners dragged out the inevitable until everyone got bored and went home.  Why?
Don't get me wrong, gentlemen, I'm not ungrateful for you taking part in this disaster, but sirs, your timing! It's as if you're being slaughtered in molasses...

Enough, I won't belabor this.  Get some sleep, gentlemen, rest up.  But tomorrow let's agree to do it like we mean it, with heart, gentlemen, with zest, with ENTHUSIASM!

A task worth doing is worth doing well.  Especially when said task is unpleasant, like pulling a tooth, or losing boatloads of money, as those who once warned you point fingers and laugh.

I have faith in you, gentlemen.  Don't let me down.

Meh, 8BTC ain't that bad.  Price  gonna tank soon anyhow, so think, like, losing a nice dinner.
