Giga-Watt team should focus more on their marketing this project and also, look for a BIG exchanges so the volume would go up.

I don't know about marketing it more. I'd say Giga-Watt should keep their focus on the construction of pods. They already have more mining equipment on hand than they currently have space available to put it into service, and that doesn't seem to be changing even as they bring more pods online. They also have some of the WTT token holders upset enough about the delays to bring lawsuits against them, and other WTT token holders unhappy about the delays, but willing to wait.

Big exchanges don't always lead to more volume, but it can. There is only big volume where there are significant numbers of parties on both sides of the trade, regardless of the exchange. If there is sufficient investor demand, they will figure out how to use the existing exchanges.

... "Funny to see newer generation device is like 230x times faster than previous one." ...

Because technology waits for nobody. The BM1382 in the U3 looks like it is Bitmain's first 28nm ASIC from 2014 according to their data sheet.

snip..

It's some kind of scam alt coin, and not relevant to this thread, Mr. Bounty collector. If it isn't Bitcoin it doesn't belong here.

meh, I just reported it to mods, I'm just ignoring it. probably spammed it in others across this board. just checked, nope.

Yah, I did the same.

Guys, found an interesting mining project-***** coin.
I hope to be useful Wink

I don't know why Giga-Watt is not using our 100% WTT token to mine on their system.

It is possible that there are more tokens right than there are miners installed to handle all of the tokens. That is why Giga Watt has to spread the miners among all the token holders.  As they build more pods and expand, and more miners are installed, then eventually 100% of the tokens will be used?  Does that make sense?

 Cool

I suspect that this is exactly the situation, but I'll temper that thought with the caveat of "for a given token rental rate." What I mean is that if I had a way to say, "please rent all of my tokens regardless of the token rental rate," and Giga-Watt could do that, then I suspect that 100% of my available tokens would be rented. The percentage that would not be rented would be the ones used for my L3+.
126  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Tokens (Altcoins) / Re: ⚡⛏️[ANN] Giga Watt: Best Home for your Mining. Starts today! on: March 14, 2018, 05:17:51 AM
Actually, if you have WTT token then you can earn LTC, DASH, BTC, and ETH. But, it would take time to get your ROI.

Maybe. What you earn depends on who needs to rent WTT and what they are mining. The WTT I rent earn me some of each of those, but what coins and how much of those coins I earn varies from day to day. It used to be that Bitcoin was the most prevalent, but recently I have been earning more Dash. ETH has dropped off quite a bit
127  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Tokens (Altcoins) / Re: ⚡⛏️[ANN] Giga Watt: Best Home for your Mining. Starts today! on: March 13, 2018, 05:18:08 AM
what about litecoin?
I am happy with renting out my token! I love passive returns!

What about Litecoin? right now it doesn't appear that Giga-Watt has any Litecoin miners for sale. In the past Giga-Watt had available the Bitmain L3+ miner for Litecoin, which is an ASIC based miner, but it is no longer listed on their miner purchase website. If the miner doesn't appear on their website, it likely means that they do not have any in stock, and do not know when they can get more from Bitmain.

Mining Litecoin with a GPU is a waste of time and electricity. For a while CPUs and GPUs worked well, but these days neither a CPU nor a GPU can hash fast enough to earn much Litecoin.
128  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Bitmain Antminer A3 earning $500 a day mining SIAcoin . .WHAT?! Results & Stats on: March 02, 2018, 04:34:32 AM
Hello guys, i'm thinking about buy 3 antminer A3. Problems are: they will be ship around the end of march (i mean, if they don't scam me...) and the difficult will be higher for that time.
If you were in me, will you do it? If not, why?
I still haven't bought anything, but planning to do it.

Any help and answer is VERY welcome, thanks
As far as I know bitmain is going to release ASIC ethereum miner. So I think this will be the next something like "sia attack". Ether with asic can have a great profit. (P.S I don't know that fact 100% sure, just heared here in some topics). If that's real, I think it worths to wait and put all money/effort in it.
On another hand would buy baikal giant miners if they are in stock or possible to buy.

ETH miners are already out, at least some people call them asics anyway.
Baikal are very expensive.

Ummm, link to an ETH asic? As far as I've known for, like, ever, it's a strictly GPU algo...

I'm with you on that one. I think it would be extremely difficult to create an ASIC for ETH (ethash algo) because as far as I know you still need a large amount of RAM to hold the Directed Acyclic Graph (DAG). Now if someone has figured out how to take eliminate the DAG requirement, or figured out a way to share access to the RAM, which holds the current DAG, for all the ASIC cores calculating the hashes, then that may change. The current ETH DAG is approximately 2.34 GB and growing, growing, growing. The current estimate is that 3GB cards (like GTX1060) will be no good for ETH in May 2019, but I would bet that the end is closer than that, since not all 3GB is actually available to hold the DAG.
129  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Tokens (Altcoins) / Re: ⚡⛏️[ANN] Giga Watt: Best Home for your Mining. Starts today! on: March 02, 2018, 04:12:38 AM
Poster said above: "Also, you are still being charged the discounted rate of $0.033 per kw/h while using WTT (instead of the standard ~$0.09 per kw/h) and this is factored into the monthly profit."   My reply: That is good to hear and is positive for the value of the tokens.

Another thing:

There are some miners for sale on the giga-watt site for $150.00 but the amount of tokens they require each is quite a bit. Unless the returns are very good, it would be better to buy a miner that is more expensive if you can get better returns from it.

Anyone know what returns per month that $150 miner is getting?

Thank you,   G.P.

Uhhh, what you are referring to as a "$150 miner" is just the power supply. Not a miner. The power supply can be used for the Alpha Miner. The power supply can provide up to 1600 watts of power.

Currently available miners are:
  • Antminer D3 Dash miner (for $1,800)
  • Gigawatt Alpha 200 (GPU miner, $4,499)

For what it's worth, at current (1-March-2018/22:40 US East Coast time) network hash rates, difficulty, and exchange rates, the D3 earns ~$1.78/day assuming that you have sufficient WTT tokens to cover the power usage (1200 watts + 10% = 1320 WTT needed).

At current (1-March-2018/22:40 US East Coast time) network hash rates, difficulty, and exchange rates, the Alpha 200 which has 9 RX570 GPUs earns:

  • ETH: ~$16.96/day
  • ZEC: ~$10.01/day
  • ETC: ~$14.54
  • SC: dunno, can't find a decent profit calculator

assuming that you have sufficient WTT tokens to cover the power usage (1500 watts + 10% = 1650 WTT needed).

At today's rates (which are pretty much guaranteed to change for the worse), the D3 would take over 1,000 days (2.77 years) to ROI, and the Alpha 200 would take ~265 days (ETH), ~450 days (ZEC), ~309 days (ETC) to ROI. Assuming that ETH is still planning to switch from POW (Proof of Work) to POS (Proof of Stake), but because we don't know when, maybe 260 days is OK, or maybe not.

I used https://www.coinwarz.com/cryptocurrency to calculate the daily earnings based on the Giga-Watt published hashing rates available at their mining shop: https://www.gigawatt.sg/shop/

I'll let the folks know what I hear back from GW.

I received this response from Giga-Watt:

Quote from: Giga-Watt Support
Developers updated firmware in this time, later all wtt rental were recalculated, check your wallet.

If you want to see changes at Giga-Watt, perhaps it would be worthwhile to open feature requests with them.

https://giga-watt.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/community/topics/115000133933-Feature-Requests

No guarantees that the requests will be implemented, but at least it lets the GW team know that there is interest in something other than what is currently being provided.

May i note that NONE of my spare WTT within the dashboard have been rented out since the 10th FEB, they are set at the lowest rate too.

I'm in the same situation. I rent the most tokens out at the lowest rate, so that's where I've left it for quite a while.

I sent a note to the support team earlier today asking about the 31+ hour gap in wtt_rental transactions for my account. The last transaction on the 15th was 05:18 2018.02.15, and wtt_rental transactions resumed on the 16th at 12:28 2018.02.16.

My L3+ was mining with no problems during that period of time as evidenced by the rewards transactions, and GW had no problems extracting their fees as evidenced by the hosting transactions in the transaction log.

I'll let the folks know what I hear back from GW.

They aren't telling the full truth, PSU's should be easily attainable by a company as big and professional as GW.

Well, if you always tell the full truth, I genuinely would be surprised. But hey this is the internet, so what do I know.

As for ordering PSUs, well, I guess if you are ordering a dozen or so, yes, may you can. However if you need to order hundreds you don't go to amazon or newegg or your favorite online retailer. You go to a reliable and reputable manufacturer and order them. This being the USA that typically means China or Taiwan. Since Giga-Watt is just another customer to those guys, and probably not a particularly big customer, they had to wait for their order to be processed. Once they purchased the PSUs they had to get them shipped to the USA, that's usually in a container since air freight is prohibitively expensive for big and heavy items. And then let's not forget customs. That depends a lot on what is being shipped and how the customs agents feel that day.

So in the grand scheme of things, I think Giga-Watt did OK getting the replacement UL certified power supplies as quickly as they did. Also remember that the PSUs are different depending on what miner was purchased. I would also imagine that Giga-Watt also purchased some additional PSUs to have on hand for repairs should any in use decide that they want to let out all their magic smoke and stop making the right voltages.

A family member signed up to the ICO 5 months ago and he was in Batch 3 to get his coins,  He's sent 3 emails and Giga Watt have not replied back.

He's been waiting to get his Tokens/Coins for months and no reply whatsoever and I believe there is now Batch 4 which people have got coins to.

Giga Watt would appreciate a reply as your service seems to be slow.  They would have been better investing in Altcoin's and would have made a better ROI.

Getting the tokens is fairly straight forward once you understand what needs to be done.

Your family member will need to do three things.

1. Go to https://giga-watt.com and sign up if they have not already done so. This will provide the important account at Giga-Watt to which you will transfer your tokens. Once the account has been created, login and stay logged in.

2. Login on the Cryptonomos web site https://wtt.cryptonomos.com

3. Follow the steps in thins link: https://medium.com/cryptonomos/transfer-wtt-between-cryptonomos-and-giga-watt-accounts-d60984514b0

It will take a few minutes for the transfer to complete, but it does work.

I would really wonder about that.

Still waiting for a Pandaminer B3 and L3+ both September batches. My tokens are from the presale.

I got an early Christmas gift.  Roll Eyes  My September batch L3+ went online, or at least showed up on my dashboard, on 21-Dec. It's been mining diligently since then. I am now watching my LTC balance climb. yay.  Grin

If your miners are not online, it may be due to Giga-Watt trying to balance/maximize power use in the pods, among other things. This FAQ answers a fair number of questions and explains what's going on:

https://medium.com/gigawatt/recently-asked-questions-and-points-of-clarification-6ad1838433ff

Open a help-desk/support ticket and ask Giga-Watt directly what's going on with your specific deployment. You will eventually get an answer.

okay so at that delivery group mine might not be installed and up and running till feb/mar... till then I will focus on renting.

How do you rent out your tokens at different rates?

Can't help you with the guesstimate on delivery/install, but if Giga-Watt is caught up when your miner(s) arrive, and your tokens have been issued already, then it might not be too late. On the other hand, you may be right. It's the end of the week and my miner is not yet online.

As far as I know you can not rent out the tokens at different rates. You have to select one rate, and that's it. What I meant when I mentioned the other rates, I would rent approximately 25% of my tokens if I selected those rates.

thanks for the clarification ZedZedNova, I thought it was just one rate to rent. At first I was renting at 6.45 but only 20% of my tokens our less were being rented so the lowest rate renting with consistent 60_76% being rented out is working out well.

The "less than 100% rental of tokens" is a recent occurrence, at least for me. I'm sure that it coincided with the release of more tokens and the fact that Giga-Watt was delayed in their build-out.

It's December!!!! Where are my Batch4 tokens? Is my miner installed yet? C'mon guys, we don't have all month!

I have Batch 1 tokens that I have been renting for a while. I also have an L3+ miner that was ordered in June (before Bitmain raised prices) and was due to be installed in September. I opened a support ticket with GW, and received a reply the other day that my L3+ install is scheduled for next week.

As of this post, the WTT token is up 47% for me, and I have had just over 10% of my initial investment (tokens and miner) returned to me (ROI). When that return is annualized it is over 43%. When the miner comes online the numbers will look even better.  Grin

@ZedZedNova when you say next week, is this the L3 december delivery... I hope I got in on that in time I only purchased it a week ago. How much are you renting your tokens out for?

I need to sit down and work out what rate of return I am getting.

No, my L3+ was in the September delivery group. The miner likely arrived when it was promised, but with all of the various delays encountered by Giga-Watt it is just now approaching install.

My tokens have been rented at various rates, but 4.20 is the rate that rents the most tokens. I can rent at the other three rates, but not all of my tokens will rent.

139  Other / Meta / Re: Measures against scams misusing the Bitcoin name on: December 02, 2017, 09:01:58 PM
Anyone who intentionally tries to deceive newbies that an altcoin is Bitcoin just because it stole the "Bitcoin" name, is an untrustworthy and malicious entity that can't be trusted. Doing something again these scams:
a) Not damaging to anyone (it actually does the opposite).
b) Not hurting freedom of speech (don't mistake acceptance of any kind of scam as a requirement for honoring freedom of speech).

The forum staff must absolutely use more rigorous measures in order to minimize the damage that these "people" try to cause.

"Minimizing the damage" does not mean that the "offending" messages need to, or even should, be altered, i.e.: changing one set of words for another set of arbitrary words, or censoring the message in toto. Because when that starts happening, it is the silencing of a perfectly valid opinion for another equally valid opinion. Opinions need not be based in fact, and in many cases opinions clearly are not based on facts. That doesn't mean that they are invalid opinions, just not soundly reasoned opinions.

So what does the community do to counteract these opinions? Respond to them vigorously using facts to illuminate the erroneous assertions. Do this as often as is necessary. Do not resort to ad hominem attacks against the authors of the unsound arguments. Ad hominem attacks will destroy any credibility that author of the rebuttal may have had.

When talking about freedom of speech, at least in the United States, I liked the quote from "The American President" when Michael Douglas playing President Andrew Shepherd says, "You want free speech? Let's see you acknowledge a man whose words make your blood boil, who's standing center stage and advocating at the top of his lungs that which you would spend a lifetime opposing at the top of yours."

Bitcoin (BTC) is the original. Anyone claiming any BTC fork is more original, or more authentic than BTC, or is the "real" BTC, is just not correct. Anyone can claim whatever they want because that's their opinion, but it doesn't mean they are right. Don't silence them with heavy handed tactics, like censorship, silence them with the truth. Yes, it's hard, fighting propaganda  always is, but it's the only way if credibility is to be maintained.
