Hello folks, i'm looking for server PSUs, breakout boards, and cables that can be used with ASIC miners. Any preferred/reliable sources in the US?
Throwing back a ways, I bought a couple of Corsair 1080Ti Hydro GFX from Phil. They were running great when I powered them off as the market turned bearish. Well fast forward to a few months ago and my wife(!!!) was intrigued with crypto after reading an article in the newspaper about coins and mining. She asked if we could get a miner going. I pulled the 1080Tis out of storage and cranked them up, and they have been mining happily since. They are giving me ~48-49 MH/s each on ethash.

I completely agree with what philipma1957 said. I also took a refund. I can only say that I was almost crucified on GPUHoarder Discord (by all the people posting) when I kept asking to see SQRL Miner and test it before Acorn was released.
You were "almost crucified" not because you asked, but because you never stopped asking at least daily, along with a dozen (or more) others, sometimes only a few messages above yours. Then you kept asking after you requested and received a refund. After a while it gets old. Perhaps if others insisted to see SQRL miner and it had been released, we would have known earlier about the problems. It is still not out. I am surprised that you think that it is normal. On another note (although related), have you seen this video? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GNy5Ta5ccNg&t=1sNever said that I thought it was normal, but for me it was not unexpected given the nature of the project. I bought into the project knowing full well that it might fail. It was a way to dip my toes into the FPGA world for far less than the available FPGA cards available at the time. I haven't seen that video. |

Either prove it can do what it originally was sold to do or start issuing refunds.
How much skin do you have in this game? Did you purchase Acorns or Nest cards? I have skin in the game and so do others here. Phil had skin in the game, requested a refund for the gear he ordered, and received it a while ago. Maybe not as fast as he would have liked, but he did receive a refund. Many others have done the same for Acorns, Nests, and BCUs. If you want a refund I'll bet that if you contacted SQRL support they'd refund your money. I opted to stick it out for basically the same reasons as vapourminer. I went in with my eyes wide open knowing that there were likely to be some hiccups along the way. That's almost always the case with pre-order hardware and software to power it. I'll take my lumps and bumps and see where things go when the bear market reverses Soon(TM). where is that bull? Waiting in the wings. I hope...  |

It looks like they never tested the gpu boost features and simply invented them from figments of their own imagination.
Zero proof or demos of the boost feature in action that I know of.
If I am wrong please link to real demos of acorns boosting gpus.
That is a bit harsh. They delivered the hardware and have not disappeared so far. I think they bit off a bit much, the bottom fell out of the market, and they have lost a lot of time dealing with angry customers. It's not harsh. It's accurate. There may have been GPU boosting in a lab with a one-off, not ready for prime-time miner, but there has been nothing presented to the public, i.e.: send something to a trusted community user like Phil or Vosk or others, to prove that GPU assist is a thing. I think GPUHoarder and SQRLs are doing their best to salvage a bad situation (between product delays due to myriad reasons, coordinating/acting as a facilitator for the BCU group buy, Mineority imploding, etc.) and do the right thing for their customers. If they'd been an exit scam they would have just gone silent like so many before them. That they are still around communicating and trying to make the best of a bad situation on so many fronts is a credit to GPUHoarder and his team. Stay tuned to see how this thing plays out. |

Anyone here frequenting their local Craigslist or eBay listings for GPU prices?
It seems that the RX 470/570 4GB and R9 7970/280X have equal values pretty much. Around $70 USD each.
The R9 290 however seems to fetch the most for $80 USD.
Seems that right now is a good time to sell the 280X/290 and buy the RX series GPUs if you feel mining has a future and plan on mining then.
Must be a bunch of miners unloading or something where you are. My local CL prices for the 470/570 and 480/580 GPUs are $160 and up and they are XFX, Powercolor, etc. No Sapphires and only one or two MSIs and those were over 200. The businesses seem to be dismantlers parting out systems that they have obtained. I'd take a newegg deal any day. I've ordered a bunch of stuff from them and had no problems. Hmmm, let me scroll up a couple of messages for you: So if I understand this thread correctly
- currently there is no miner that can you acorn for acceleration of gpu mining
- currently there is no working miner that can use acorn for standalone mining
- no verified info on how many rx570s on eth/xmr can 1 acorn accelerate when/if it will work with some miner
- no verified info on how many 1060s on eth can 1 acorn accelerate when/if it will work with some miner

yes, except your 2nd point. there is a standalone unofficial zen protocol miner. my two 215+ and 101 get me around 925 mhs zen protocol. thats probably about average for my acorns, my 215+ at 190 mhz the 101 at 220 mhz. they are in a nest4x. they can go higher im still messing with them. The part I highlighted in red tells you what you seek. yw. |

My Nest X4 and four CLE-215+s arrived yesterday (Friday) late morning. Unfortunately not going to have time to install them until next weekend. Hopefully by then there will be some software (beyond the drivers) that will allow me to try them out and make the LEDs blink.   Though with the current state of the crypto market, waiting a week doesn't seem so bad. That's more time for hash rates and difficulties to drop, but who the heck knows if that means anything more than noisy heat. One thing I know is that ethOS has already been checked out by a member of the FPGA Discord/sqrl-products channel and the drivers install easily. Hopefully the same can be said for the forthcoming ( SoonTM) miner. |

Good chance this has turned for the worse.
Let’s say they are not thieves the only explanation remaining is the gear is underperforming a lot.
So they are trying to tweak it to work somewhat close to specs.
I am glad I bailed and once again USA builders for mining = fail.
you mean the acorns or the bcu1525? on discord they showed a lot of acorns supposedly ready to ship. and they really havent given hard numbers so unless its a huge drop i figure they would just ship. there was some firmware (or something) issue they found last minute that would be hard to field update so they will update there, then ship. i think they said they will not release the acorns till the miner software is ready. maybe its not ready. no matter what the reason, it sure is late. some have claimed a fedex label has been created (in house) but that doesnt mean squat till they are picked up. my acorn orders are from july, and i have got any email as far as when it will go out. at the mineority store they just sit as "paid." disappointing for sure but i was prepared for huge delays. wanted new toys and took the chance. oh well. im sure i will get them but how profitable they will be remains to be seen. but the fun and learning factor stays the same no matter when they arrive. I'm in the same camp as you vapourminer re: Acorn order and interest in new toys. I ordered in July (order number just under 600), but I ordered devices for a late September delivery. At this point I am 6 weeks past due for shipping, unlike the August delivery folks who are 10+ weeks past due for shipping. I joined the game back in late 2011 when BFL, among others, was pitching their scam first FPGA product. It sounded interesting, but I was a skeptic so I watched from the sidelines. To me the SQRLs and Mineority team had a little legitimacy due to their history (SQRLs successfully makes other stuff) and OhGodACompany released the free EthlargementPill, so I was willing to take a chance. I also paid with BTC that was purchased when I switched from LTC (mined in late 2011 and early 2012) to BTC and ETH. That's how I am still playing now. I only buy crypto mining gear with crypto, converting to fiat if necessary. |

Still mining with my 2x1080Ti rig, mostly x16r coins. Was RVN for a while, but now MoonDex for which I have a couple of master nodes. I had a sidehack modded S7-LN running earlier this year, but the PSU died and I didn't bother fixing it because at the time it was losing ~$5/month with $0.10/kWh power. It might be worth fixing and relocating it so it can augment the heating system now that cooler weather has arrived. Waiting for the SQRLs Nest X4 and four Acorn CLE-215+s to arrive to add them to the 2x1080Ti rig. They are due to be shipped SoonTM, whatever that means. I'll believe it when they arrive on my porch. I'm also contemplating buying one of sidehack's NewPac and one of jstefanop's newest Moonlander scrypt miners once it is shipping. It's mostly just a hobby for me, but who knows, maybe one day crypto will moon again. |

From that error, it appears that the path you specified does not exist, or perhaps the script is not executable. To check run these commands and put the output in a reply here. cd /home/pi/miner/bfgminer_5.4.2-futurebit2_linux_armv6/
ls -l start_moonlander2.sh
You are looking for at the start of the line that has on it. If your output doesn't look like that, you may need to use: chmod +x start_moonlander2.sh To help yourself out a bit, you might want to watch some youtube videos about using the RaspberryPi shell. |

They've drawn the line in the sand as they clearly see cryptocurrency as something that make them become extinct.
That may be true in some cases, but I suspect the real reasons have more to do with the level of fraud on both sides of the transaction(s) (i.e.: seller really did not deliver; or buyer claims the seller did not deliver even when they did), as well as liability in an uncertain regulatory environment. Some countries have accepted (some) crypto currencies as legitimate forms of payment, while others have taken a "wait and see" stance, and others have banned it outright. From the perspective of the banks, there just is not enough reward to justify the risk at this point in time. That could change in the future, but for now, all we've got is a big can of nope. |

Im still waiting on someone to actually test one of these before I buy one. More specifically I want to see how it runs on the new Verthash. Or if they even update their proprietary software to mine Verthash in a timely fashion. It was pretty disappointing to see that they only have a few algorithms running on it so far.
Basically the only reason for me to buy one of these was to mine Vertcoin. Ive been on it since day one and I'm looking forward to the move to Verthash more than I can say. It's the only coin I mine so until these units show they can help me mine VTC, as promised, Im out.
That being said. If they do ship these and they work as intended with Verthash support, Ill buy plenty of them. Plenty.
But first I'll need some solid benchmark proof. On Verthash. When/if its ever supported on their miner.
I've been watching the Acorn thread here and on Discord and I do not recall any talk about verthash at all. |
