He started out mining to a single address but I believe later he started going with a new address for each block.
Satoshi never reused any of his known addresses. Each time he solved a block, he used a different address.

I must have been thinking of something else then. Thanks.

Here's a thought experiment: Satoshi CPU mined coins in the first couple of years. Knowing that everything is visible on chain, and knowing so obviously that no one else was mining within the first few months, he know that all those blocks could be associated with him until there were enough other people mining blocks.

He continues mining, but as soon as there are others, he slowly moves some of those later mined coins to other addresses and keeps doing so every few months, leaving the entire first year (except the one he sent to Hal) untouched.

The early coins never move. The coins after a certain block or date have been moving every year since. ... 1m coins do not move. 100k or 10k move (around the same time or after the first pizza was bought) ... they keep moving once a year or so ... 1k is cashed out some time between then and now, the remaining 99k or 9k is still out there looking like everyone else.

Or it's quite possible none of the coins move at all too. Who really knows?

Yep. I'm sure, smart as he is/was, some of the implications were not immediately clear. He started out mining to a single address but I believe later he started going with a new address for each block. Certainly it's quite likely he has more than enough play money so it may not be possible to read anything into those early coins not moving.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

A reference to this meme, I think.

It was going around here back in the day so the poster might be trying to show their bone-fides.

As an amusing thought experiment, imagine that Bitcoin is successful and becomes the dominant payment system in use throughout the world.  Then the total value of the currency should be equal to the total value of all the wealth in the world. Current estimates of total worldwide household wealth that I have found range from $100 trillion to $300 trillion. With 20 million coins, that gives each coin a value of about $10 million.

But if falls apart at the bolded bit. Just stop there. Anything after that isn't a thought experiment, it's just nonsense. It's pure bullshittery and I hope he would have admitted that if called on it.

Want to hear a joke?

Fed. is seriously trying to create a digital currency to solve "some issues" with fiat. Yes those issues which Satoshi Nakamoto solved 12 years ago. So we should say good morning Federal Reserve.

But the catch is they still don't know how to do it and they want to add some "features" like digital currency will expire after certain time if not used.. WTF.

Can someone please forward the Bitcoin Whitepaper to them?

Dude!  Funny as hell but my young daughter was watching.  A little NSFW warning would have been nice.  Now I have to give her the "money" talk!!

Discount Gilbert Gottfried is OK.

 Thanks Wink
He would have been just as funny without all the screaming.

At least he didn't tell The Aristocrats.

It amuses me that despite seeking Brexit, England still endorses Euro tournaments 🤷

Geography we are in Europe.  We are just not dictated to from the European Community
It amuses me how dumb people are
... And who is the dumb person here? Someone who claims to be from England but can't get their grammar right? The Queen, Her Royal Majesty, needs to see this...

*Geographically would have been the correct grammar for anyone wanting to advance their English vocabulary.
The Queen is busy though, doing very little, but very busy I'll have you know.

I think he was going for 'Geography! We are in Europe'. That works rhetorically. Punctuation is often a little less clear with fractional sentences.

Edit: I see he corrected it. Yet I am still oddly inclined to believe my assessment is correct.

Italy are the Euro 2020 Champions.

It did before it was part of a monolithic superstate, no reason why it wouldn't after.

Been watching him a bit the last week or so. Not sure how he got in my feed but he's building a tunnel from his house to his shed which is something I always wanted as a kid.

Got 3 calls.today to notify me that my Social Security number was being suspended due to suspicious activity. The 2  Lls from people concerned that my warranty was about to expire on my 14 yr old car that I bought outright as  person to person cash transaction.  Then somebody apparently changed my Netflix password (I don't have one) and my AT&T account was suspended (don't have one of those either. That's not even counting the 3 calls that were recordings of  pleasant sounding young lady reading a Mandarin Chinese script. It's reached the 0oint where if their number isn't already saved as a contact, and they don't leave a message or a text, I just add them to the blocked numbers list. I currently have 3,800 contacts saved with phone numbers, but the blocked list is catching up fast!

I just don't answer calls that don't have a name attached or I have a reasonably good suspicion that I'm expecting. Drop a voicemail and I'll call you back. My phone also will point out if the number is suspected spam which is nice.

BTW, how many times someone has to watch Tenet to fully understand it?
I kinda of get it...but sometimes the ends don't really meet (unsurprisingly).

Definitely has a lot of loose ends. Time travel stuff always will. I think Nolan's reach exceeded his grasp on that one TBH.

Needs to be 8000 of them (or however many there are this week).

Just out of interest do you celebrate your country's independence day?

I feel kinda left out. I'm from one of the countries everyone else celebrates independence from

I  Love the Independence Day celebration skin, but Damn that's hard to read!
What if the Red & White stripes flipped at the make line? Does that ruin the flag appearance?

It absolutely would be incorrect. And whilst for me, it would simply be "wrong", I'm sure it would upset some. There might be another way but it's only for today anyway.

Are you pretending not to know what actually happened?
There is no gaming-just levers and I/O.

I know what I've been told is happening. Every "China is banning Bitcoin" story in the past has proven to be bunk though.
