Quote
However for Balaji it appears that there is another, perhaps more fascinating flippening that will come soon - the flippening of billionaires. He says that when bitcoin hits milestones like $100,000, there will be as many bitcoin billionaires as there are traditional billionaires. When bitcoin hits one million dollars, the world’s bitcoin and crypto billionaires will surpass the number of traditional billionaires.

This assumes that those holding continue to hold. Part of the process of growth is that new people come onboard and holders divest some of theirs to live the lifestyle they've earned.

There will still be plenty of billionaires, no doubt but I would suggest far fewer than he's expecting.

Well, wouldja look at that?!??!

I DID have a balance on Gox!

_edit_  Still reeling!  All the talk I do about not leaving your balance laying around, and in reality I was GOXED.

Good god man. Opsec!

It's not difficult to get rich. It's difficult to stay rich.
Not to say stay rich for 700 years.
As I said the other day to @LFC_Bitcoin:

An important fact to bear in mind is that the children of these long-term richies don't get educated the same way as us lumpen proletariat, they get educated in the means and methods to preserve this wealth. They are also inducted into the networks which assist them in maintaining their status.

Things can still go wrong, of course but most of the stories of kids blowing the wealth their parents built are from the nouveau rich who have focused on building their wealth, not their legacy.

I dont really know anyone who still has generational wealth from the roman empire.

And that's just the way they like it.

Generational wealth arises from biological imperative. If you want to see how altruism factors in, I recommend "The Selfish Gene" which delves into it a little.

Talk about cool, yet unuseful, visualisation of bitcoin price:

Funny, I was just thinking about such a representation in the shower just now.

The representation is cool, but the scientific value is nil.

Yes Smiley

Why hasn't someone thought of setting up a giant bitcoin mining farm here?
Seems like a no brainer or am I missing something?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8UmsfXWzvEA

It's "renewables" and thus unreliable. If your miners, staff, whatever are free it might make sense but otherwise, you're probably better off paying a bit more for electricity that's available 24/7.

Besides that though, this is the UK so there are probably daft regulations which would make it hard to do profitably.

Maybe even organise a conference or something?

That's quite an amusing image. I wonder what the keynote would be.

What I know for sure is that you don't want to find yourself in the nocoiner hell... so BTFD or stay/become poor!  Cool

The way things are going, it's going to be pâté de foie gras flavored Ramen for me!

Crypto Covid Twitter is a cancer and anti-vaxxers are idiots, atleast most of them.

When did "smash the state" become "trust the state to think for you"?

If the band members live into their 40's it seems the drummer always kicks the bucket first.

Well, he was 80 odd...

Don't really know what that means, it's a "visko fan" the hotter it gets the more it connects to the engine and the more it turns, its some kind of fluid and a bimetal thingi inside.

Yes. Clutched just means the coupling to the engine is controllable. Just means it shouldn't be as bad as a constantly connected one. Like this:

I think they went electric in the later years though and conversions were common.

This guy did a test, he drove 400 km, same route, with and without a fan.
He saved 10% fuel and 0-90 was 1 sec faster, springweather, 10-12 degrees, no problem with overheating.

https://youtu.be/6yalvvueL80?t=366

Yes. The fan is most useful at low speeds and when not moving. As I found out once upon a time.

It looks like his fan is clutched though? I believe my wife's mini ran the fan constantly.

I guess the next exciting price is previous ATH. Might be a bit of a slog.

That Ford Capri of mine didn't have a rear window heater either, I also added a aftermarket one. I remember it was a sticker type thing, peel of the protective plastic and attach it to the window and plug in the the two wires to a power source via a switch. Simple and worked pretty well, but ugly as f.
They don't make them anymore, I was looking for one a couple of years ago as replacement for the broken one on the car I had back then.

Same here. It had two metal strips you had to tuck the metal sticker into. Well worth doing as the metal in my wheel wells had rusted through and water would get inside the car and everything would fog up. You might have been able to fix it with silver paint which I've seen advertised for exactly that purpose. Looks like this company still makes em. https://frostfighter.com/

I have been pondering if I should change the thermostat or not, but I might just as well go all the way and change that and the pump while I'm at it.
Electric fans is nothing new to me however, my SAAB 900 from -88 had one.

You can test them but it's one of those things that if you have it out to test, you may as well replace it anyway. I've been putting it off on my car as the housing is a bit of a PITA to remove.

Awesome... you, unlike ALL the rest of us, were using W(ater)D(isplacer)-40 for it's actual original intended purpose!

NFT's ?

Ah yes I hear rocks are the hot thing now.  about as useful as all the other NFT stuff.  I still don't get buying a PNG image, fight me.

You're not buying a PNG image, you're buying the hash of a PNG image. You're right to not get it. We can still fight if you'd like.
1039  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: August 24, 2021, 12:03:19 AM
NFT works in the modern meme culture way I suppose, so long as there is excess liquidity theres people who want to own a unique icon.  It doesn't establish copyright or a claim of ownership exactly so its more then a little confusing.   It seems to be something of a courtesy to usage by the creator not a sale, until there is a legal precedent to establish NFT I assume it will not appreciate over time ie. years.

It's OK to say it's bullshit here Smiley
