1221  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: It's a good idea to just register on casino on: January 20, 2023, 07:31:44 AM
There is this thing about shopping and airlines that when you check and forget, they send you bonus or discount for your possible shopping/trip. Same holds true for casinos, if you just register and leave they will send you some bonus to get you started playing.

What's the difference? At the end of the day, you will still lose the bonus and your initial bets. Grin
The casinos are creating the illusion that they are "giving" you money, but in reality, they give you a bunch of numbers on a dashboard.
You are the one, who is sending real money/coins to the casino. I'm not against casino bonuses at all. The casino bonuses are simply marketing, every business has to find a way to "bribe" more people and turn them into loyal customers. There's nothing wrong with that.
I will keep repeating that gambling is a fun escapist activity, not a way to make easy money. The gamblers, who are focused on casino bonuses simply want to make money, instead of having fun.
1222  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin increased my mental awareness on: January 20, 2023, 07:04:57 AM
Just stay poor. This way you won't be thinking 24/7 about where to store your wealth and how to protect it. Grin I'm joking.
Bitcoin isn't as easy as storing fiat money in the bank. That's why Bitcoin is fascinating. We have to choose the hard path in life, because the easy path is the way to hell. Putting all your trust and money in a centralized entity seems like a dumb thing to do, but in reality, this is the norm.
Overthinking too much about small and insignificant details is a sign of insecurity(or maybe obsessing compulsive disorder). I kinda have OCD, when it comes to money. I'm too afraid to lose the money in my pocket, that's why I check them way too often.
If I had 10 cold wallets, I would check them every day to make sure that the BTC aren't missing. Grin
1223  Economy / Economics / Re: We are not out of the woods yet on: January 19, 2023, 12:12:03 PM
There is always this most painful season in crypto space that hurts even the strongest of crypto holders out there where they will almost give up, I don't believe that this bear market will be different, if you are here in 2019 you knew what I am talking about.

It will get to a point where many will start losing hope on crypto, a more painful bottom will occur and holders will lose faith, the bear market will look like it will be here forever.

We are not at this point yet so do not get too confidence that a new all times low is no more possible, no one saw COV-19 coming in 2020 and anything can still happen between 2023- 2024.

This forum thread belongs to the Speculations forum, since you are starting a discussion, that isn't closely related to Economics.
You know the saying "Weak hands always lose", when it comes to the Bitcoin market. It doesn't have to be that way all the time.
If you(and some of the BTC HODLers) are too afraid to HODL in a bear market, just sell your BTC for fiat or stablecoins and wait for the BTC price to drop even further. When you see bullish signals, just start buying BTC. This isn't rocket science.
There's no need to HODL all your Bitcoins during the entire bear season.
1224  Economy / Gambling / Re: Kryptogamers Hive No KYC Casino on: January 19, 2023, 07:35:21 AM
This casino exists since 2019, but I've never heard anything about it. Does it have an old announcement thread in the Gambling forum?
I'm too lazy to search right now. I thought that this is an announcement thread, but it seems that OP is simply making a short review(or probably promoting the casino). I'm surprised that the Steemit and Hive tokens are still alive. Having a casino to allow deposits of such tokens seems like an interesting idea. Most of the Steemit and Hive.blog users would just earn tokens on these platforms and sell them for other crypto. Anyway, this casino seems too suspicious to me and I wouldn't bet my coins there.
1225  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: In addition to Bitcoin (BTC) and Satoshi (Sat) I like to propose Nakamoto (Nak) on: January 19, 2023, 07:04:36 AM
Calling different amounts of Bitcoin with different names would only confuse the noobs.
I would rather change the name of the Satoshi into Bitcoin. This way most Bitcoiners won't be HODLing several hundreds thousands of satohis. They would be HODLing hundreds of thousands of Bitcoins and the price of something won't be 0.00001 BTC. It will be 100,000 Bitcoins. Grin
The amount of Bitcoin millionaires in the crypto world would increase and everyone would be bragging about having lots of BTC.
Why don't you name parts of Bitcoin to Gavin Andresen. He has a contribution to Bitcoin. We should honor him in some way. Grin
I propose the amount of 1 million Bitcoins to be called one Gavin. Grin

This has left me VERY angry and proved to me there is no loyalty amongst these gambling companies regardless of how much money you spend.

I have decided to permanently close my account on 30/01/2023. The reason for this date is because I have a six figure NFL bet (Kansas City Chiefs to win their conference) which is playing on the 29/01/2023.

I am writing this to remind you guys that these greedy companies have ZERO loyalty or respect for their players and to never forget that. Make sure you have accounts with different sportsbooks and don't be afraid to look around for better offers.

So you are a successful gambler you expect the casino to reward you with bonuses, because you are successful?
All gambling companies (it doesn't matter if it's casinos or sports betting platforms) are offering bonuses because of two things:
1.They want new players joining their websites.
2.They want active players, who keep losing money on their websites. The bonus is just an incentive for the players to deposit more money and keep losing them(which means more money for the casino/bookie).
If you are an old and successful gambler, there's no reason for any gambling platform to offer you bonuses, because the gambling platform would lose money, instead of make money out of your bets.
1227  Economy / Economics / Re: MtGOX + FTX = GTX on: January 18, 2023, 07:33:34 AM
This seems like another crypto scam. It's like trying to sell a bunch of canned air. The price would most likely be really low, but at the end of the day, the buyers would be buying something that probably doesn't even exist.
I agree that nobody can prove whether or not the claims are real. What if those claims can be fabricated?
Also nobody can say when the claims will be paid. Such court cases are taking years before the final verdict.
The reputation of Three Arrows Capital is already damaged and I don't know that many people would fall for this weird idea.
1228  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Influencers, affiliate links and scams on: January 18, 2023, 07:10:52 AM
This is an old topic and there was a forum thread about this subject. There's no need to make another one for the same topic.
Anyway, we can put the blame on the influencers, only if they knew that the crypto projects were scams from day 1. This should be proved in court. Without such proof everyone is innocent until proven guilty. Some influencers harmed their own reputation, by promoting crypto companies, that turned into scams. Those influencers probably have the right to sue the crypto scams for defamation or fraud(even though they got paid for doing the advertisements). I'm not a lawyer, that's just my two cents about this topic.
1229  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 10 Biggest U.S Lottery Jackpots Ever...(Until Now) on: January 17, 2023, 12:34:42 PM
Quote
So Two Questions..
1. Do you think its possible to win such an amount of money in online gambling/Sports betting ?
(my own opinion: I don't think its possible, as I've never seen.

2. Is there any online lottery casino available where it is possible to win such as enormous amount of money? Please share ..

1.No, I don't think it's possible.
2.No, there aren't any casinos offering 1 billion USD jackpots.

You are comparing apples with bananas here.
The big lotteries have nothing to do with casinos/sports betting platforms. I know that both are considered gambling, but the core principle is different. Big lotteries rely on a large pool of ticket buyers, while the casinos/sports betting websites rely on a small amount of active gamblers, who are spending money on gambling on a daily basis. In many countries the lotteries are allowed, while the casinos are heavily restricted. That's why some big lottery games can accumulate hundreds of millions as jackpots.
1230  Economy / Economics / Re: The Buy Now, Pay Later Bubble Is About to Burst on: January 17, 2023, 07:53:35 AM
The BNPL concept is more like a thing from the western world. In my country there aren't any financial companies offering BNPL services.
Buy now pay later is just another form of debt. Is there any serious difference between the BNPL debt and the credit card debt? I don't know, because I'm not an expert. There's nothing wrong with credit card debt, as long as you pay your debt in time. Actually using credit cards and paying this type of debt in time is useful for building a better credit score and affording bigger loans.
Maybe the Federal Reserve will have to increase money printing and lower the interest rates, in order to save the debt bubble in the USA from bursting.
1231  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: A good way to promote Bitcoin or not? on: January 17, 2023, 07:18:11 AM
That seems like a great idea. People who buy wine tend to have more money to spend on investments, and tend to be more educated which means they are more open to learning about something like bitcoin and using it.

How did you come up with that conclusion? Grin Are there any studies proving such correlation between win consumption and investments?
OP can do whatever he wants with his business. He knows his customers and he must decide whether or not to start promoting Bitcoin.
I can't see any clear benefit of promoting BTC in a wine store. Bitcoin has nothing to do wine and I don't really think that accepting BTC payments would boost OP's sales. He can try to educate some of his customers about BTC without having to expect any kind of direct benefit out of BTC adoption. There's nothing wrong with that.
1232  Economy / Economics / Re: Always Buy Up - a discussion about having Strategy in your Life. on: January 16, 2023, 07:49:10 AM
This topic is more about self-help rather than economics. Maybe it belongs to another forum.
Anyway, I guess that by "strategy" you mean discipline and consistency. Having a strategy means having a plan, and plans don't always work.
Mike Tyson once said: "When you go on the boxing ring, you can have the best plan/strategy in your head, but the plan/strategy goes away when the opponent hits you in the head." Grin
Having a plan is one thing, sticking to your plan is another thing and adapting your plan, when it doesn't work is a third thing.
I like your idea of always buying up, but many people simply hate consistency and they can't follow one plan for a long time.
1233  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Miss Universe 2023 betting. on: January 16, 2023, 07:19:14 AM
Hi guys, Miss universe 2023 will be tomorrow in my timezone. I'd like to ask if you know what bookies are offering the betting odds.

I have already searched from all the bookies I'm using but no betting odds are offered.

Let met know, and what's your prediction? maybe I can follow.

Couldn't this contest be easily rigged? Maybe that's why the bookies/casinos are staying away from accepting bets for such contests.
Somebody, who has connections in the jury might bet and exercise some influence in picking the right girl to win the contest. Grin
This is more like a conspiracy theory, but who knows....The jury might be corrupted and they might choose the ugliest chick for Miss Universe. Grin
I don't trust events, where the outcome isn't completely random and based on luck.
I hate beauty contests. They are totally sexist and the girls look and sound like bimbos. A woman is way more than her looks.
1234  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Proof of stake is bad and why bitcoin is the only crypto I would trust on: January 16, 2023, 06:56:44 AM

2. As we have seen over the years maybe 90 to 95% of crytpo scams have been perpetrated on the ethereum blockchain.

Can you backup your claim with some verified statistical data?
When if comes to crypto scams, the blockchain doesn't matter. Crypto scams can exist in a proof-of-stake environment as well as a proof-of-work environment. What matters the most for all scams is how the scammer would deceive a bunch of naive people to trust him and put their money in a fake project.
Anyway, there's no need to praise PoF and shit on PoS. There have been hundreds of posts around the forum about this topic and I don't think that you are adding anything new to the conversation. Time will tell whether or not Proof-of-Stake has a future in the crypto world.
1235  Economy / Economics / Re: Soaring fertilizer prices could see millions more undernourished on: January 15, 2023, 08:14:15 AM
The price of fertilizers is determined by the natural gas prices. The gas prices in Europe have dropped recently, because the European gas reserves are almost full. I don't know if this will change in the summer and the gas prices won't hit new highs.
We have already suffered thru the 52% inflation of basic foods. I don't think that there will be another 81% inflation wave in the agriculture sector. The inflation levels might be lower. What is concerning is the really warm winter in Europe, which is bad for the crops.
1236  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How wrongful can this go? on: January 15, 2023, 07:52:55 AM
I don't like giving out my private information for any project or platforms online and I have no choice but to provide wrong personal details in order to maintain anonymity, how bad can this get if anything happens to the website system?

Is this a wrongful approach to online casinos that requires KYC? Or any of you have a better solution? There must be someone like me on here that have their ways around this. Share ideas if you can.

How bad can this get? Well, it isn't bad for your personal info, but you might lose your money in that particular online casino.
I also have submitting real personal info, because I think that most gambling websites aren't very good at protecting sensitive information.
Losing a small amount of money seems a little bit better than having your personal info being leaked and shared for free around the darkweb.
But yes, sharing real fake personal info is a wrong approach and you might not be able to withdraw your profits, when the casino asks for ID verification.
1237  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Keep your emotions balanced especially regarding Bitcoin on: January 15, 2023, 07:25:24 AM
Giving sh*t about a 3% Bitcoin price movement is something only the noobs do.
After dealing with the Bitcoin volatility for several years, you just develop a different mindset. It sucks to see the BTC price dropping severely, but this is the nature of volatile assets. They just go up and down. When the price is down, that doesn't mean that it will stay there forever.
The same thing applies to the price being at a high level. I don't think that Bitcoin would be able stay at a 60K USD level for months and years.
I have faith in the concept of Bitcoin and the Bitcoin Core blockchain. I just don't think that 99% of the altcoins/tokens will exist after 3 years.
1238  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Fees on Dormant Accounts on Crypto Gambling Platforms on: January 13, 2023, 07:05:39 AM
Quote
This is similar to a bank policy that requires accounts to have transactions every now and then or be active or else dormancy fees could be charged. But this feels weird to a gambling platform. What happens to seasonal gamblers who don't mind leaving money in their account wallets? One could only be betting during annual work breaks or vacation or during annual sports championship events. Say, the NBA playoffs, The International, and others.

I've seen many companies having such "dormant account fee" policies. Even affiliate marketing networks like Clickbank have such policy.
Maybe the accounts have some kind of maintenance costs, which have to be covered, or maybe the companies simply want to make some easy money from inactive accounts. Anyway, it's always a bad decision to leave money in an online account for a long time. It doesn't matter if it's a gambling or a trading account.
1239  Economy / Speculation / Re: Did Miss El Salvador cause the Bitcoin price to spike last night? on: January 13, 2023, 06:38:30 AM
I guess that Bitcoin adoption is the only thing El Salvador is famous for. That's why Miss El Salvador is holding a Bitcoin sign.
However, this has nothing to do with the BTC price. It's like saying that Bitcoin price went up because today is Friday the 13th. Grin
We can see some small price pumps on the Bitcoin charts, which means that Bitcoin is still alive and kicking and the crypto winter might have a few small bull waves here and there. Anyway, FUD news are coming from the big crypto company Nexo being accused for money laundering, terrorist funding and operating without a license in the USA. Maybe this FUD will cause another short term BTC price drop.
Will Nexo become the new FTX? We will have to wait and see.
1240  Economy / Economics / Re: Sanctions at work:Russia posts its second highest deficit in the post-Soviet era on: January 12, 2023, 12:19:31 PM
At this point, I can't distinguish the facts from the propaganda.
The western propaganda says that everything is collapsing in Russia and the country will be facing a big economic depression followed by hyperinflation. Why there aren't any big protests in Moscow and Saint Petersburg right now?
The Putin propaganda says that the Russian budget is under control and the rubble is stable(with a little decrease of value down to 70 rubbles per dollar). Everything will be alright with the oil and gas export, because Russia is switching to the Asian markets(which is a bit exaggerated, because it takes time to build new pipelines).
Which propaganda should we trust more? Western or Putin's propaganda? Or maybe both are lying a lot, which was totally expected.
