Rand Paul’s Iowa Campaign Should Make the Rest of the GOP Field Nervous

As the old saying goes, out of sight, out of mind.

Kentucky Senator Rand Paul has only attended two multi-candidate events in Iowa this year – the Iowa Faith and Freedom Coalition event in April and the Republican Party of Iowa’s Lincoln Dinner in May.

With a field of 16 Republican presidential candidates, it’s easy to forget about candidates when they are not campaigning in your state, and skipping out on a number of high-profile evens can make it seem like the candidates who are not attending are not all that active in Iowa. Yet, just because a candidate isn’t taking the time to share a stage with their many competitors doesn’t mean they are not laying the groundwork for a formidable Iowa caucus campaign.

Senator Rand Paul isn’t your typical Republican. His libertarian leanings and focus on the federal government’s intrusion in people’s lives sets him apart from most, if not the rest of the huge field of candidates seeking the Republican nomination. Paul might not be riding the so-called circuit like his many of his contemporaries seem content in doing, but make no mistake, he is running a formidable caucus campaign in Iowa.

Paul has made five trips to Iowa since officially launching his bid for the Republican nomination for president in April. While Paul might not be showing up at every multi-candidate event in the state, he’s campaigned in 19 counties across the state in 2015. That’s just six fewer than Mike Huckabee and Rick Santorum who have visited 25 counties in Iowa this calendar year. What’s more impressive is how well orchestrated the Paul campaign events are.

Last week, I attended Paul’s campaign event in Poweshiek County. The event was interesting to me for a number of reasons. First, Craig Lang, the former President of the Iowa Farm Bureau, hosted the event at one of his son’s farms. Second, the event was in Poweshiek County, a place I called home eight years. Third, the event was on a gravel road. A presidential event in the middle of the day basically in the middle of nowhere is always going to get me to circle the event on my calendar.

I was impressed with the turnout. About 50 or so people attended the event, and even though this wasn’t your typical campaign event, the mechanics the Paul campaign is deploying in Iowa was easy to see. First, the Paul campaign is wisely using Eventbrite to ticket their campaign events. Getting people to pre-register only makes the task of collecting data from the event easier. The event was well staffed, but the event itself was entirely reminiscent of Steve Forbes’ campaign events in the 2000 race.

Where is Rand Paul on this entire ordeal? I think yall should get with him or ask him about his heretofore stances.\

One concept is only needed: Do no harm. This covers every base. Mind your own business goes far too.
1264  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Is Hillary Clinton Trustworthy? on: July 08, 2015, 02:57:00 AM
Are any politicians trustworthy? Besides Rand Paul, our Lord and savior.

Pand is our lord and savior.  Haha  I am liberal and I think I agree with Paul more than Clinton.  Embarrassed
I'd hope so w/ you and many other liberals. Hillary is a fraud and is in bed big time w/ the military industrial complex as well as being very in for the surveillance state sponsored by the "intelligence" agencies. Rand is just like his dad in many instances, that needs to play conservative in a GOP primary. But, Rand is trying to play the general election game at this point yet he may be losing primary voters by doing so. It's one thing to factually say that he can beat Hillary in some purple states but he needs to send more red meat to GOP voters, especially w/ the growing crowded GOP field.

Take the Glenn Beck (major conservative radio talk host - reaches many millions) 2016 Presidential Candidate Letter Grade Poll: Round 7

Let's get Rand on top of this thing. I think we have a chance this time of unseating Cruz. Beck and company have been pumping up Paul ever since the Tax Plan and his recent get Gov't out of marriage remarks. They have been a little sour on Cruz since TPP, his latest supportive words for Trump (they really hate Trump), and his support for a Constitutional Amendment to ban gay marriage.

It's basically a rating of the entire presidential field on the GOP side and you grade accordingly, kinda fun. No email needed but they'll talk about it on this fairly big talk show which influences part of the republican party base. I didn't link it cause I didn't want to blow up the spot.
1266  Other / Politics & Society / Re: GOP - Rand Paul's Presidential Highlight Reel w/ his Libertarian Twist on: July 08, 2015, 02:47:23 AM
If there's such a massive following, why will he not be in the debates?
I don't get your point, so and so. He's rated in 6th place on the RCP (aka Real Clear Politics average which is what is being graded) and will be in the debates, including the 1st one in early August by Fox News. The top ten are included.
1267  Economy / Economics / Re: How much Bitcoin to move to the UK/USA ? on: July 07, 2015, 10:53:30 PM
First of all, it's not possible to just move to the US w/o first getting a visa of some sort which isn't exactly an easy process. Furthermore, there's a major immigration debate going on over here and it's focused mainly on those coming from South America. In addition, most teenagers here tend to have minimum wage jobs as that's pretty much all that's available unless you've been working for years and have a resume that would make you competitive to be hired at a higher rate. There's just not up and coming middle class or upwardly mobile jobs available thanks to the Bush/Obama years and the horizon doesn't look pretty either. Most current young people here have no future unless they went to college for a career in demand but the majority of degrees will get you nothing but student loan debt. Learning a trade like plumbing, electrical or heating and cooling will get you way further than college pound for pound.
1268  Economy / Speculation / Re: Price is fighting to $300 in July! on: July 07, 2015, 05:54:11 AM
It's funny looking at the first comments in this thread. We've already seen 280, we have 20+ days to surpass those 20 remaining dollars for 300. It's obvious people isn't objective anymore about the price and went on the depressive mode instead of the realistic one.
last month because of the quite market and all the negative trolls nobody even thought of the price going to $300 but after the Greece news and reversal of the market it is a strong possibility.
I think after a small pull back we can see a runup at the end of the week and we may even see $300 by the end of next week.
It's possible that this runup can happen later today or tomorrow. This problem in Greece and Europe in general is strong and loads of people around the globe are reacting towards it as the different local markets are stagnant or dwindling and the ways to make money are chilled or worse.
1269  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: July 07, 2015, 05:47:18 AM
precipitous dump

Or a low volume dump. Of course you'll get a pullback after a big price rise, every time. There's overarching supply to be worked out of the market because of profit taking. Once it's all absorbed, whoosh back up we go. Look at the volume compared to similar moves to the left and it will give you an idea of how much gasoline is behind it.
bc, your commentary I find is the most impressive and worthwhile content on this entire forum. Keep it up and wish we could get more of it. Cool You're either really smart or really cool by default.

Granted, I am now understanding that remaining a Christian isn't always the wisest thing during a very extended Satan market.  Undecided

Yes, yes, come to me, my child. Let my claws pierce your soul and feed on your sap. God's rapture of St. Teresa was nothing!
Thanks for bringing up St. Teresa, I looked her up and learned plenty about her so I thank you for that. Originally, I was thinking of another St. Teresa that I learned about back in my Catholic college so this was a pleasure to learn about.
1271  Economy / Speculation / Re: Fractal analysis shows Bitcoin to reach $100k+ in 2017 on: July 07, 2015, 05:25:26 AM
Bro, even the Edub folks say that this high of a wave is going to take many years to play out which will be a pleasant bull market to observe and live through. I'd love to let this ride but this is fantasy unless a certain ETF comes out and wall street jumps in across the board. Guess I can't discard your assessment but this is quite a shocking and bullish viewpoint. I'm not one to be stuck or caught up in the dulldrumbs of the bear market affecting what the mindset of a bull market can be but good grief my friend. Shocked
1272  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin to $50k before Xmas on: July 07, 2015, 05:21:24 AM
I was just about to retweet that and I'm not the type to salt the possibilities of what a good bull market can push but this is going too far. If it is going that far I'd think that some serious time would have to lapse prior unless the entire world's markets fell apart and everyone raced to bitcoin in a hurry. It's possible but yeah, strong and outlandish prediction atm. If you're right on the other hand, I'll give you a coin just for being a prophet from outer space. You know where to find me.
1273  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2015-07-06] Inside Bitcoins Chicago Is Almost Upon Us on: July 07, 2015, 02:23:49 AM
These are really great events for new and interested folks to check so they get a straight story on what the coin has to offer. Not to mention what kind of market is brewing now, this event will instill more confidence on the buy side.

1274  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin goes to 1200-1300 within a month. on: July 06, 2015, 05:52:05 PM
monitoring the situation

cheep coins at 255, was some mins ago
will climb from this point

Are you sure we will see $1200 level this month???
I have a friend who wants to sell his coins but waiting for $300 level, should he wait or should he sell all his coins???
If this friend is satisfied w/ meager gains then I would say it's up to them as they don't deserve to benefit from what bitcoin has to offer to the world. After the bear market that we went through, I'd consider this lack of confidence in a returning bull market to be somewhat of an insult.

One of Rand Paul's PACs - Concerned American Voters

Check out the team of this concerned AV outfit that is supporting Rand. Meaning that if you support Rand and have donated the max thus far, you can send plenty more money to the PAC to help out.

I made a bitcoin off some small litecoin trades I made in recent times but I missed the move up a few hours ago which I'm pretty salty about. Why is the LiteCoinGuy not up in here, he must be stacked? It's nice that things are moving in another direction from the last 1.5+, finally.

Poor NLC, her enthusiasm seems somewhat diminished after a $50 rise in a month.  Undecided

Not even the will to make new pics... Cry
Yeah, it must suck to post on a forum where money is being made and yet trollcrotch doesn't have a cent to their name. It's gonna get real brutal for their soul as we continue to move up.
1278  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2015-07-05] Interview: Running a Bitcoin transfer business in Kenya on: July 05, 2015, 07:19:55 PM
I've long been hoping for the bitcoin to mature up the remittance markets around the world so it's a pleasure seeing the growth by BitPesa month over month. Still, plenty more work to do before we even take a small portion of the overall market.

Rand Paul: I'll defeat Hillary in swing states

Council Bluffs, IA – U.S. Sen. Rand Paul said Wednesday he stands out in a crowded field of Republican presidential candidates because of his ability to attract young, independent voters he believes will be needed to win the White House in November 2016.

The Kentucky lawmaker said he can beat likely Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton by winning key swing states such as Iowa, Pennsylvania, Colorado, Ohio and New Hampshire that were captured in the 2012 election by President Barack Obama.

"How do you win? I think it's by being boldly for what we are for: A balanced budget, smaller government, the Constitution, and figuring out what part of our message actually appeals to younger people and people who haven't been listening to us," Paul told a crowd of about 100 people at the Hilton Garden Inn in Council Bluffs.

He noted he gave the same speech in defense of 4th Amendment privacy issues at Liberty University, a bastion of conservatism in Lynchburg, Va., and at Berkeley, Calif., home of the University of California and one of the nation's most liberal cities. It's a message that resonates with different audiences, he explained.

"We don't have to change what we stand for, but we do have to figure out how to take it to new people and bring them into our party. I am convinced we can do it," Paul said.

It appears that investors in this space are dead at this point in time after so many burns in the past. Couple that with a renewed thought of future bull market and the pool has/is drying up. I would try and seek out a fiat round of investors at this point to get he engines started or advanced.
