1261  Economy / Speculation / Re: [Poll] What do you think the price will be 7 days froim now? on: January 24, 2012, 12:18:16 AM
1. Reserves are finite.  Too much speculation in one direction locks it up in that direction until someone takes profit or is liquidated.
2. There is slippage risk.  If someone tries to exploit this, they can hit Bitcoinica hard.  To do so would take quite a bit of capital.
3.  Zhoutong could be dishonest and force liquidations by trading on mtgox, but there is no evidence of such behavior.  Such behavior was once used by so called bucket shops to mitigate the slippage risk, which was more severe for them due to them hedging partially with manual decision making.  Bitcoinica now covers all positions, so unless slippage becomes a problem due to targeted attacks, Zhoutong will make more money by playing fair.

Number 2, is EXACTLY what im talking about...

So what is your issue with me ?

Wake up, people have a lot of capital..  this is happening. now...

And the locking up starfish makes it worse! If you cant understand that, I really have little more to say..
Not my job to teach you.

As long as Zhou is dealing on mtgox, there will be massive bouts of volatility from the big players screwing around with Zhou because there is a clear sign * saying, hey! come over here and abuse me!  Who wins?

Not us.
1262  Economy / Speculation / Re: [Poll] What do you think the price will be 7 days froim now? on: January 23, 2012, 11:58:49 PM
It has its limits, but 99% of the accusations levied against it are unfounded.  Instead of even making a clear accusation, you just make vague statements that breed FUD.  Can we focus on information please so we can help people understand the real limitations of Bitcoinica?

Tell us pro?

Tell us all how you make your money from the "suckers" getting liquidated.. ?

Just because your praying on the less informed dosent make my thoughts disinformation.

Am I ruining your game?   My bad.
1263  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin Technical Analysis & other financial markets (bitcoinbullbear.com) on: January 23, 2012, 11:17:09 PM

Calm now.. Smiley

But I was thinking it too.. lmao..

Im just frightened that the evil smack down aka manipulator is just bitcoinica adjusting its hedges.. and having cascading effects when liquidations happen... Sad

Food for thought albeit paranoid ones..  Tongue

I have been saying this for a while now. This is why I have submitted it as a question to be asked during Zhou's interview.

I believe this will prove to be paranoia.  You don't have to be Zhoutong to profit from the liquidations.

Not saying that you do,  Of course everyone can profit from others liquidations..  what is your point ?

My point is Bitcoinica doesn't adjust hedges unless a trader adjusts their position.  What's your point?

Nevermind, you are very very pro bitcoinica, I get it, you've made it abundantly clear to me.

I also like bitcoinica, but it has some serious issues it needs to address.

That is all
1265  Economy / Securities / Re: [GLBSE] LIF.A, LIF.B, LIF.CX, and LIF.M on: January 23, 2012, 06:30:22 PM
No offense Nefario, I hope the interface gets better than what the beta is showing..

This is very little improvement than the Ascii like interface of GLBSE Ver1

Unfortunately I have to agree..  I mean the ratings and verification part is cool, but that is just a little added functionality..  UI is not so good.  Webclient is actually better.

Teeks site is a good example of a clear and easy browsing experience (except the neon green product titles Wink My eyes hurt)

GLBSE now looks at though the old Ver1 has just been plopped into a slight makeover..

To fancy it up a little, if each Stock had a place to embed a small "bit" picture of the respective stocks..  this will add a little flare to a table that will be hard to spice up I presume..

1267  Economy / Speculation / Re: if you were the manipulator, what would you do? on: January 23, 2012, 05:44:40 PM
I would order another pina colada, and a pillow for my beachside chair...

Stable.. no..

Everyone realizing they cant change where ever the manipulator wants us,  Yes..

The manipulator is not a ghost anymore, they exist, they showed themselves last week in a bold show of power.

1270  Economy / Speculation / Re: RIP bitcoinica ? on: January 23, 2012, 04:04:47 AM
Liquidity might not be the right word but he doesn't seem to have the reserve(a kind of liquidity imo) to cover any long positions. If he does create his own bitcoin exchange what would prevent these starfishes from occurring? This would in turn force the price down since no one would be able to buy them or sell them. I just don't see how an exchange is going to help him with this problem.

Bitcoinica using mtgox, is liken to betting against yourself.  He has to hedge against his own market to protect himself and everyone.

Eventually he has to adjust positions..
1271  Economy / Speculation / Re: RIP bitcoinica ? on: January 23, 2012, 03:59:25 AM
Zhou is busy coding the new and improved bitcoinica I would presume..

The public spoke, he tends to listen.. Smiley

The last I heard from him he actually admitted to losing some money during the big swing last week. Ever since then there appears to be a liquidity issue at the site. Usually he listens to the users but with the inability to go long and purchase bitcoins for so long I now have to question the financial feasibility of the site.

Yes, good points.

But I would theorize ANY amount of "liquidity" that he makes available for leveraging would not be enough..   What Im seeing people do lately is ridiculous, if they only realized what it means for all of bitcoinica longs, shorts, whatevers, have to translate down to orders on mtgox..   It scares me actually..

well, i'm taking the strategy of heading out to other popular sites to post about Bitcoin.  signed into SBRforum.com (Sportsbooks), made some bullish statements and woke up today being banned forever from the site.  interesting...

I mentioned something about oil sands on Max Keiser Report page on facebook and got several childish rebuttals from "Max Keiser Report" and was subsequently banned from the page..

Join the club!

Who runs that page anyways.. if its actually Max Keiser, hes a bloody moron..

Well Max Keiser will ban you as a twitter follower for a single tweet with a polite message that is slightly contradictory to something he says - and that's definitely run by Max himself,
so I think he has a bit of a problem with dissent.

I was in shock how childish he was, his responses were that of a 8 year old, If this is what Max Keiser is about, I want nothing to do with it.  It was one response away from "Im rubber your glue...."

I pray that facebook group isnt run by him..  god help us all..

I'm with you on that one, I'd try to put on a better appearance than that in such a visible place.

As a Canadian I was thoroughy insulted with his views on the oil sands and the pipeline.  His objection to the pipelines was that they are easy to bomb..I brought up the fact that tankers are easy to bomb too in international waters, his response was they cant get bombed because they are always moving..  Roll Eyes   Then he was spreading FUD about the oilsands, completely wrong info.

Are we sure we want this 12 year old stuck in a 45 year olds body being a figurehead for Bitcoin...  Im changing my views on this one..

1276  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: [ANN] Instantly Withdraw MtGox to PayPal via BitInstant | LR, Paxum, Dwolla on: January 22, 2012, 10:50:09 PM
Off  Topic:

I find it fascinating and very telling that, Paypal, one of the most popular (but not well loved)
online transactions services continues to hassle and equivocate with any person or service that
wants to exchange bitcoins.

Is this because the problem with scammers and charge-backs are that bad ?  Or is Paypal just being
a corporate bully?

Paypal is a horrible entity, and virtual currencies are banned under their TOS.

And yes, they are Bullies...

But sometimes.. . they are a necessary evil.
1277  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Smoky Mountain mining now offering daily dividends to GLBSE investors. on: January 22, 2012, 10:33:14 PM
The honor of being the first major scammer on GLBSE, but as history has shown us, certainly not the last.

I wont be using GLBSE until I see some measures to maintain the site and trustworthiness.

If old stocks/scams remain on the new one, I doubt Ill be using it again.

There is no reason for people to be able to buy old dishwara shares or smmm.

Its ridiculous..
