1261  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Multipool and Middlecoin - big profit, even bigger troubles... on: July 28, 2013, 04:21:51 PM
When CAP forked, sounds like only cryptsy and bigvern's pool were on the small side of the fork, then they mined 100+ more blocks due to the low difficulty.

Now they get to keep those blocks and the rest of of the network will have their blocks orphaned.

The truth is the dev doesn't know what caused the fork and pointing fingers at switching pools is easier than figuring it out.

I'd say the truth is the dev doesn't know what caused the fork.

Interesting how the finger pointing started before any investigation was done.

The bottlecaps network is currently forked.  Cryptsy and BigVern's pool are on a different chain than the rest of us.

CAP has been removed from the multiport until this situation is resovled.  The dev is talking about putting in a checkpoint to orphan all of our blocks from last night.  I suggest ppl go into the Bottlecaps thread and express your feelings about this.  https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=241445.380

Multipool has had all your addnodes in our client config since we started mining.  Perhaps others haven't?

We mine much coins with much smaller networks (MNC, LKY, ARG) and there have not been any forks on those to my knowledge.
1265  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Pools (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][Profit-switching][0%fee] multipool.in:Always mine the most profitable coin on: July 28, 2013, 08:09:25 AM

I plan to give the option of either entering a payment address or selecting "payout in BTC" for each coin.  The fee for payout in BTC will likely be 2% (inclusive of trading fees) but I haven't finalized that.

Why you want to pay in BTC while we are all LTC lovers Wink. please add another option to pay in LTC after exchanges Wink

Most of the exchanges deal in BTC only, so to pay out in LTC I'd have to trade them twice.  It's possible, but the logic is a little more complicated so it would take longer to implement and there'd be a higher fee.

MEC profitability is fixed, about 80 blocks were double paid so enjoy.  Tongue

Out of curiosity, how could Litecoins have a 45.6 MH/s hash rate and there are no blocks being found and says it will take 24 hours to find a block?

Thanks.

JR

The estimated time to find a block at 45 MH is around 25 hours.  We found a block around 8 hours ago.  Previous to that, we had very bad luck and did not find a block for over 50 hours.

One more hour and we will mining FTC for a long time. I have an idea to try working on multiport without CAPs, profit seems to be higher then with caps. What do you think about that ?

It may be that we're staying on CAP too long..  I've decreased the minimum to 5 minutes.
That's good decision. Have you try to make unified pay system ? I mean autoexchange for all coins we mining.

It's coming, I don't have an ETA yet though.

Please make it optional.  I like selling them myself and holding when I want.

Same here.  Sometimes I like playing the market with certain alts and like holding others.

First to the "noob question--" yes that's normal. Your miner is reporting how many hashes it has calculated (whether they resulted in acceptable shares to submit or not), period. The pool is only aware of the hashes you submit to be accepted to the pool. The pool is reporting the rate for those hashes which it is aware of (the hashes you submitted).

EBM,

Middlecoin looks interesting, we might try it. We stopped multi because it was mining too many really obscure ones that are too volatile (so not the best price when actually sold) and a pain to sell. Also don't want to trade without Yubikey.

I tested multipool.in versus middlecoin.com for two days using two comparable hashrate cards for each. I wish I had been more scientific about it--meaning, noted the exact start time of my test, and performed the test with one each of two identical cards (instead of four comparable cards divided), so I can't conclude which was more profitable in the time period. What I can say is that they're both highly (and, it seems, comparably) profitable Smiley

Naturally, I'm curious to do that test more scientifically.

I will say that unless/until I find or make a bot that auto-withdraws and sells winnings at the best market price (I've had to miss the best price quite often, by checking the exchange I auto-payout to, and seeing the coin in question was most profitable, say, two hours ago), and unless I can throw more hashing power at the pool so that portions of coins are not straddled beneath 1 (OR if coin amounts lower than one could be paid out manually after they've sat long enough), that other switching pools might be more attractive. That is, unless more scientific tests discover this pool to be more profitable despite those drawbacks Smiley

flound1129, I saw what I thought was a good idea in the middlecoin.com developer's plans (as posted at their thread about that pool): seamlessly switch the coin being mined when a block is found. I don't know whether you'd entertained that idea or plan to do that, but to me it seems like a good idea (you can look at the thread about that coin for other details of their plans).

Also, to ask an entirely barbaric question, what are some of the other auto-switching pools (and in particular, which ones are gaining popularity)?

afaik there are only 3 at the moment: Multipool, middlecoin and one in Europe for which I don't remember the name.

Another payout is currently in progress, try again in a minute.

I unlocked the payment address but I am still receiving the same message

My username is the same as here

Thanks

Keep trying,  block payouts were probably running.

Really great pool, just some issues withdrawing coins, the 24hs profit snapshot is awesome.

What issue have you had withdrawing?

Edit: CGMiner disabled pool2.us again. I've got 16 % rejects in the last hour.

Do you know which coin it was on when you got the rejects?

Hmm, nevermind, I see it in the NVC logs.

Did you happen to change the difficulty on the website for that worker during that hour? (specifically, right before you started getting the rejects?
1276  Economy / Exchanges / Re: MtGox withdrawal delays [Gathering] on: July 27, 2013, 04:56:35 AM

a.) Liquidity problems.  Buy MOAR BTC to increase our arb profitzz! (I'm sure they don't have an account at Bitstamp)
b.) Lies Lies Lies.  1.2 M is a minuscule fraction of daily flows for a bank.
c.) Gox's incompetence/banks
d.) Silence is golden?  They have no idea how to shore up confidence.  They are out of excuses and have decided to play the quiet game.

I know that it is frustrating especially if you had plans with the money.

On the other hand, I can understand the massive number of "unforeseen" problems. Even if you have a normal company, which doesn't deal with "exotic" currencies, banking and payment processing can be a nightmare.

Raging about mtgox anonymously on forums won't net anything positive. If you lost faith in mtgox then use an other exchange.

I'm just trying to warn people to get their money of out Gox before its too late.  A member of the forum posted that a WSJ reporter is working on an article as we speak.  Now its only a matter of time.

The problem is "A member of the forum posted that"....LOL

Someone on BTC-E said that Obama was going to announce something big regarding Mt. Gox on monday.

The new account details page is now live.

Features:
- Per-worker user-selectable share difficulty!  (Currently in BETA, only works on pool2.us.multipool.in which is also in BETA.  If you want to test this, please set pool1.us as a backup and please report any issues)
- More concise display!
- More ads!
- Worker deletion should now be reliable and not delete the wrong worker.
- Active worker display with 1 minute and 10 minute hashrate for all workers that have submitted shares in the last 10 minutes.
- Current BTC value is displayed alongside account balance.

This makes me a happy panda.  I was using pool2.eu for awhile when you said it was up for beta a few days ago.  Can I use pool2.us and pool2.eu?  Or should I just stick with pool2.us as my primary and pool1.us and pool1.eu as my backups?

Are you in the US or Europe?  pool2.eu and pool1.eu go to the same place now, it was only in beta for a couple days.

Love the new Account page. In an instant I discovered one of my miners asleep on the job  Grin

How do I pick the difficulty that will make the most money for me? By maximizing U Huh

I'd suggest the following per worker:

250KH and below: 16
250+: 32
500+: 64
1000+: 128
2000+: 256
3000+: 384
