921  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Bottlecaps v1.5 Fork Issues and Sync Issue Resolved Please UPDATE!!!! on: September 09, 2013, 07:03:18 PM

I most certainly did..a few times... at last it was left at "I don't know what is causing it and I'm looking into it"..that was about 5-6 days ago..have asked for update yesterday but nothing back since..

Sounds pretty suspicious.

I have detailed payout records available for all blocks.  Just FYI  Smiley

...
MtGox should however keep an updated information page about the status of withdrawals, queue disciplines and the length and trends of the various queues.  Much like the information I have collected from various sources.
If Mt. Gox provided honest figures, the financial press would notice and Mt. Gox would go out of business.

If they provided real performance numbers:
 - Total USD, EUR, JPY, GBP withdrawals requested by customers and not yet paid to them.
 - Days slowest payment has been in queue for each currency.
 - Total USD, etc. owed to customers. (Total deposits)
 - Total USD, etc. in segregated customer cash account with bank.
nobody would send them more money.
Some of this information is very sensitive and some is useless.  E.g. oldest withdrawal in the queue.  If you intentionally DDoS the withdrawal queue by doing many small withdrawals instead of one large, you are placed far back in the queue every time a withdrawal is processed.  This is only fair.  Some of this is very market sensitive.  E.g. total deposits.  (Which are in many different currencies, btw, not just USD.)  They should not publish this, and if they did it would mean instant death as an exchange.  Large investors must depend on MtGox not publishing those numbers.  MtGox has very a very strict privacy policy as well.  It is important to ensure that no private information can leak out.  I can't see any other exchanges publish those numbers either.

The only important number to most people is how long they have to wait for their money if they withdraw today, and how the queue is organized.  I have provided the know figures in this thread.  It is collected from various sources, and I wish MtGox would make similar information available.

924  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Bottlecaps v1.5 Fork Issues and Sync Issue Resolved Please UPDATE!!!! on: September 09, 2013, 02:27:36 AM
Anyone else having "missing payments" at Vern's pool (Bottlecapspool.com)? Last couple days I have noticed dozens of random "confirmed" blocks for which payments are missing. I know two others who are having same issue. Just curious if anyone else here is using that pool and missing payments?
I have messaged Vern and he is looking into it I believe

I have a lot of blocks for which the reward column is blank... Even for blocks for which I'm the finder. This isn't a new issue though and is one of the reasons I stopped mining there previously. I didn't realize the pool was back up so I decided to test it out again. My rewards were are about 20% under the estimated amount, but I don't know if those blank amounts are actually paid out or not. Please post when you know something more.

I too had seen this in past but also had times where I went days with every block being paid...but now, this time around (and only on Caps pool at moment that I'm talking about) there are MANY more missing payment spots..I did the math and every coin was accounted for with the spots showing payments thus meaning all those empty confirmed blocks are *missing* payments and for me personally its gone as high as 40% at times! Caps basically has a 99% efficiency with few stales and orphans so payments are typically very close to estimates (based on changing and current difficulties) but this pool is waaay off and only due to missing or withheld payments and other pools are not doing this. This is definitely a pool issue and not a coin or client issue. His pool IS getting the blocks it is showing and they DO CONFIRM UP to and past 120 blocks meaning his pool IS getting 10 coins for ALL  those blocks but then for many of them payments don't get split up amongst its miners properly...at this moment I can only speak for myself and two others but does appear to be widespread amongst many if not all miners in that pool..

Did you report this to the pool owner?

Wow Just made the switch from Nushor's LTC pool to Multipool! This pool brings in way higher shares than the other pool. My hash rate peaks at 270, but stays at 230 to 250.    1920 share in the first few mins, plus Est coins a day right now, it says 0.1898. The other site gives me .1012 coins.

So I will give this pool a try for 24 hours and see where it takes me.

Edite: Now make that    0.2344 coins a day.

I wouldn't recommend direct mining LTC unless you are prepared for very high payout variance.

Use the multiport (7777) insteadl.

any news for ltc? will u forward it to another pool?

I'm looking at how I can do that and still capture the shares..  stay tuned.

Also, DGC has a mandatory update:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=289818.0

They are hard-forking at block 476,280 (currently on block 418,821).  It will be about around the end of the month.
They are changing their retarget logic to limit the difficulty adjustments to deal with prof hopping.  I will dig into their code tomorrow to see exactly what they are doing.

From his post, it sounds like he's taken the FTC algo and tweaked the numbers a bit.  I predict this will have approximately zero effect on our ability to profit from DGC.
Looking at the code, it looks like the laziest attempt to fight coin-hopping so far.  They haven't changed the block reward, the target block time, or the retarget interval.  They only changed the maximum swing from 25%/400% to 50%/200%.

The overall impact will be that profitability will not swing as much, but will likely swing more often.  Currently, it bounces between the 1.8-3.2 range for 15 hours and the 5.5-12.5 range for 2 hours.  I suspect this will become more like the 2.4-3.2 range for 10 hours and the 4.8-6.4 range for 3 hours.  All told, I expect we will end up spending more time mining it at a lower profitability, but will get to mine it more frequently.

As far as the goal of making it resistant to coin-hopping, I would rate this change around a D-.  It will still leave this coin as one of the worst with LKY and ARG (although ARG is about to get the same update it seems).

About what I expected..  Did you see any other changes?

I think you should not spread, that SEPA transfers are solved, until you saw it with your own eyes.. And even if no one here is lying it could be the same as usual, that it's just luck which transfer is fast and which not.
Fact is that there are thousands of undone withdraws pending or "confirmed" since weeks or months. Only if these undone transfers were done, they can say "it's solved".
You have to document your claim of thousands of withdraws pending.  I count a total of three recent SEPA withdrawals in this thread which have been pending for more  than two weeks.  Each one reeported over and over.  Standard international withdrawal is very slow.  We know that.  There is a huge backlog from the middle of June.

I'll try a four digit SEPA withdrawal next week, and report back.
I have 5 open SEPA transfers. 3 of them about 200€, one 400€ and one of 800€.  I ordered the transfers: 2013/07/30 , 2013/07/30 , 2013/07/31 ,2013/08/12 and 2013/08/14. One order from 2013/07/26 about 200€ I got after 3 weeks.

So nothing is solved for open transfers... and I doubt it's solved for new transfers, but we will see.

Edit: ah and one withdrawl about 150€ from 2013/07/23 I got after a few days.

Edit2: just because there are not many people reporting delayed transfers, u can't say there are no. Because at the moment it's "normal" and normally no one cares about it anymore.
Today I made a new SEPA transfer about 300€, I will report back, if I get them next week.
I didn't have to contact support.  MagicalTux explained it on #mtgox today:
Code:
13:30 < jouke> Just received an answer on my ticket: "We were bound to certain
withdrawal limits per day which forces the requests to pile up
in long queue. We suggest you to cancel all your pending
withdrawal request and make a new combined single request. So
               that it be processed faster."
13:32 <@MagicalTux> remember one thing
13:32 <@MagicalTux> if you did multiple requests, only one can be processed
                    every ~20 days
In short: Cancel all your tiny withdrawals and merge them into one.  It will be processed much faster.

That is fuckin VITAL information.

Also a convenient way to move you to the back of the line.

WDC hit block 600,000.  The reward for each block is now 63.36 (decreasing by 1% every 20160 blocks).
It looks like your prof calculation still assumes 32.

It also looks like you are paying out incorrectly for WDC.
Block 600122 only paid out 32 WDC:
https://www.multipool.us/blockdetail.php?block=600122&curr=wdc
But the block reward was 63.36 WDC + 0.1 in fees:

Same for 600112:
https://www.multipool.us/blockdetail.php?block=600112&curr=wdc
http://wdc.cryptocoinexplorer.com/block/95a2472abe1d27530cd0b09a7b01f83b5c1b56093c749636302c80ac099bcd3d

And all the other blocks since 600,000.

Thanks, I will just double pay these blocks.

maybe its just me but stats for CAP and CGB are not moving in my account  Huh

CAP is still set at 200 confirms until we know for sure the blockchain is stable.

It's taking a while to process the WDC.  We found hundreds of blocks.

I ran a 48 hour test run using the Multipool option and I earned about 50% less money than I would if I mined Litecoin at it's current difficulty on it's own.  Upon watching the multipool option it was even mining coins that were more profitable than litecoin.  The bouncing back and forth between coins with the combination of PPLNS payment option is very inefficient for your miners.  It seems to be no different than losing out when you go Pool Hopping which PPLNS was designed to circumvent.  This pool would be good if it was PPS only.

A whole 48 hours?  Well I've been mining here since April, and I've never seen us make 50% of LTC, and certainly not recently.  I'd like to see some numbers around your claim.
934  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Pools (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][Profit-switch][1.5%fee] multipool.us:Always mine the most profitable coin on: September 07, 2013, 03:03:54 AM
So the problem is people are saying they aren't getting a good return when the pool switches to LTC? With the 60 minute round, there are a number of times we've moved on to mining something else...the LTC-direct miners find a block and we still have shares that get paid out despite not mining LTC when it was found. What's the difference? It's just a bummer that this all had to happen right when LTC was the most profitable it's been in weeks and I just found out now it was removed from multipool.

No, the problem is that when LTC profitability is high, a ton of hash switches over to it and the average block time goes down to 2 minutes or lower.

With only <50 MH dedicated on the LTC port, the 60 minute round time means almost nothing as far as profitability is concerned.

The low profitability was being caused by the following:

1. Badly tuned server parameters on the faster coins (WDC and DGC), which have been fixed
2. Approximately 20-25% lower than average profitability almost every time we move to LTC (I believe due to the hashrate jump on the larger pools, mentioned above)

--expiry|-E <arg>   Upper bound on how many seconds after getting work we consider a share from it stale (default: 120)

I think setting this to 1 might be... bad..

What happens if you set it to 30 or 60?

Can you post your cgminer config?

Here it is! About an hour ago I added the no-submit-stale just so I don't see the stales rising constantly.

Difficulty is set at 16, the GPU's are 5x 7950's.

Nothing's really jumping out at me..  Can you do me a favor and run a traceroute to the pool from your IP address?  Maybe there's some kind of asymmetric route or something that's causing network issues.

Here you go (note that with whatever coin it's on now, it's at 10% or so it looks like. It jumps up considerably on some though. I attached CGMiner to show the GF/RF's as well):

What's weird about your output is it doesn't say "stratum from pool 0 detected new block" before the stales..   So why are they stales?

I have no idea on that one. Usually it does say a new block was detected. I'm not sure about the above though; that was something I noticed after the screenshot.

I did have a few rejects that said they were below the target difficulty as well. As far as I can tell, all of them in the R pile in the image were from that.

can you PM me your IP address so I can run a traceroute back to you from the pool server?

FWIW, I'm showing a profit of 0.021 for the last 24 hours with ~1.2MH.  That's about 3x Bitcoin profitability.  I don't see how I could have possibly made 3x that on Middlecoin, that would put them at 9x Bitcoin.

LTC also had a jump in price and a lowering in difficulty, which is the reason its profiability went to 4.  It was around 3.4 this morning IIRC.

I'm going to disable LTC from the multiport for the next 48 hours and see how it affects profits.

What does this mean for ltc direct miners? Ltc is currently most profitable. If I switch lets say in 2 hrs to another multipool coin and no block is found till then, will it mean that all my shares go to oblivion?

"A: PPLNS stands for "Pay per Last N Shares." It means that whenever a block is found, payouts are given to everyone who submitted shares before a certain cutoff. Due to the coin hopping nature of the mutliport, this pool uses time-based PPLNS, rather than share-based. You can view the time cutoff for each coin on the Pool Stats pages."

So after I switch i enter this cutoff time right? When it passes, all my shares are lost?

Second thing I cant find cutoff time on pool server stats for LTC.

The round time for LTC is currently set at 1 hour.

We had found a block a few minutes before I disabled LTC, so most of your shares should have been paid.

It looks like we're above LTC profitability already after being off it for only around 12 hours.  I'll look more into either getting us hooked up to p2pool or to a larger LTC pool.
