1281  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Bitcoin 2.0 - being shut down by Bitcoin 1.0 core devs? on: March 26, 2014, 07:41:14 AM
Several interesting projects promise to bring remarkable new function to bitcoin - Bitcoin 2.0*.  Really cool stuff.  However, in the interests of 'stability', it seems that Bitcoin core devs are openly hostile towards these developments. While everyone appreciates the complexities of dealing with blockchain 'bloat', is it the correct strategy to simply hinder all sexy new ideas which are coming down the pipeline?  Is that really good for bitcoin?  If we ignore, or worse hinder all the new innovations which could come to the remarkable impenetrable ledger than bitcoin provides, then don't we relegate it to mediocrity or even failure?

Ethereum saw this from a mile away.  They what to initiate their own blockchain to be free of the limits and encumbrances (including the cores devs) on the present blockchain.  Ethereum may become the cryptocurrency that bitcoin should have been.  Very serious efforts are being put forth to make exciting new function attach to the bitcoin blockchain. Now, the core dev team(s) seems to be thwarting those efforts.  Can this really be good for Bitcoin?

1282  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: MasterCoin: New Protocol Layer Starting From “The Exodus Address” on: March 26, 2014, 07:04:08 AM
How do you know it is Robby who begun the counterparty? Is there any proof of you just know?
Do you have actual proof the Earth is round?  ...or do you just 'know'?

What is 'proof'?
1283  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Blockchain wallet hacked! on: March 26, 2014, 05:27:14 AM
You know, the strangest thing is, I had forgotten about that wallet, and today when I found it, I thought, "huh, let's see what kind of change I have in this wallet" I was actually shocked when I opened it and saw 2.2 Bitcoin in it! I couldn't for the life of me figure out when I would've sent that much coin to an old wallet that I don't even use anymore, and I still can't figure it out! I know that I wouldn't just forget about $1200+! I tried tracing back the transactions and nothing leads to any wallet that I ever owned! Is it possible that somehow someone else's address ended up in my wallet?? Seems ridiculous I know, but I just can't explain it!
I suspect an address collision.  People around here think it is not that common.  But, just like the lottery, someone wins every week despite the fact that the odds are "astronomically near zero".  1/35,000,000,000 doesn't seem like good odds, but just go ask the guy who won $500million what he thinks of that theory.

Your wallet probably was being 'shared' by an unknowing party and those were actually his $1200 and he probably actually is the guy who took them after noticing his address was being used by someone else (you)

1285  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Gox to Announce they found 670,000 btc? on: March 25, 2014, 06:27:42 PM
Mt. Gox is not going anywhere until the Tokyo District Court and the Tokyo Metropolitan Police are through with it.

Nah, they have only made an application. They can just cancel the application. Court has 0 power if they now come out and say we are being acquired and everyone will be made whole.

All of Karpeles shit has been siezed. the gig is up

source?
His ass.  He pulls this shit out of his ass.  It's where most information here comes from.

1289  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / Re: 300 BTC Coding Contest: Distributed Exchange (MasterCoin Developer Thread) on: March 25, 2014, 08:46:18 AM
Hi again.
It's clear to me that there is significantly more emphasis placed on development of features and progress towards functional goals than there is on the fundamentals of the Mastercoin system (is Master Protocol applicable here?).

Johnston - could you please set this guy straight?  David has all the answers for you.

It is easy to sit around and point to all the shortcomings.  Big deal.  I can detail all the places I'd like MSC protocol to be better too.  But, with the resources they have, they are too busy building the thing.

Imagine a Ferrari - a high performance serious piece of gear.  They are busy making the drive train balanced.  Then some dick comes up and says: "Hey guys, the paint isn't very nice!"  Dude?  What are you thinking?  "Documentation"?  Who's got time for that now?  They are all very freaking busy staying up all night to get the thing balanced.  They don't care about the paint.  That is why Masterchest is so ugly.  If you want nice paint, go to NXT.  That is all they have.

1290  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: MasterCoin: New Protocol Layer Starting From “The Exodus Address” on: March 25, 2014, 08:24:22 AM
Calling Counterparty a "copycat" is calling it as it is. They've copied Mastercoin down to smallest details and Mastercoin's idea of using BTC blockchain.

Counterparty is not anonymous.  Everyone knows it is being built by 'Robby' - https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=102837

You can check precisely from where the whole thing started: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=265488.msg3822194;topicseen#msg3822194

Robby wanted to join Mastercoin and he started telling everyone how they suck and he is an experienced professional who has done many big projects.  Mastercoin didn't get impressed with Robby's 'big swinging dick' attitude - so they told him "No thanks".  So Robby went off and did his own thing: CounterParty.  Robby built something nice.  However, the Mastercoin infrastructure is much more than Robby's fast programming ability.  Mastercoin is a community of dedicated hard working guys who COOPERATE together.  Robby is a single dominant personality who wants to take over and tell others who don't agree with him - they suck.

We'll see which holds up.  Robby's work is no doubt nice.  But Robby is not a community of cooperating parts.  Counterparty will copy Mastercoin and every step - in some places, CP will even look better.  But CP will not be able to pass MSC as CP is mere a one man show with loads of coding skill.

It is a shame really.  Mastercoin could have used contributions from Robby.  But his dumb-ass personality got in the way.   He isn't the kind of guy who cooperates with others.  'My way or the highway'.  So - he took the highway.  Bye-bye robby.

I bought 400MSC @0.25 BTC last year, don't worry, just keep holding and trust the Dev Team, they really work hard!
This is correct.  If you look carefully, you will see a crazy Dev team working their asses off and making good stuff.  The day-to-day price is controlled by whimsical speculators.  Don't worry about that.  Look deeper at what is going on.  These guys, well funded, are actually working very hard to bring a nice end result.  You should be delighted to have MSC @ .1  - even the .25 price (which is a bit hard to swallow in view of today's sellers) is a great price in my view.  Just keep in mind, our market is really tiny.   People with about 550,000 MSC are hodling; about 4,000 MSC are being traded.  Those holding are the smart guys who understand what is to come in the next 12 months.  HODL!
1292  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Is Coinbase turning into another Gox? on: March 25, 2014, 07:15:58 AM
Again, no.

Brian Armstrong and his team funded by Andreessen Horowitz are only about 35,000 times more legitimate than Mark Karpeles and his insane incompetence.
It has a lot to do with the difference in business mentality between French and America.  Horowitz / Armstrong are professionals who run a tight ship.  Karpeles is a fat bloated dope who spews incompetence.  He didn't even steal coins like a dirty Russian, he merely let them spill all over the place and into the sewers.  Idiot.

Sorry - it will be announced in a few more days that he was on MH370.  RIP

I have  been working closely with his family and we have been able to recover most keys

1295  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Butterflylabs legit? on: March 22, 2014, 06:38:01 PM
Hi,

I recently started mining bitcoin with a few asics antminers U1's. I was wondering if buttefly labs were legit, I saw their 600Gh/s cards, butwere only with pre-order... Has anybody bought from them before or pre-ordered one of these cards?

Also what mining hardware would you recommend?
Look around and see whether you can find a company who 'under promises, and over delivers'.  This seems like a good place to start.

I was at the Inside Bitcoins in Vegas when a very unhappy customer confronted the Butterfly labs CEO in front of everyone.  I have to say, I can't believe for a minute Butterfly Labs is delivering expected results.  This guy sure was pissed off.  I wouldn't buy Butterfly after seeing that debacle.
1297  Economy / Speculation / Re: The $500+ Bitcoin Is Back ... (HAPPY?) on: March 20, 2014, 01:39:57 PM
Well this is what you were looking for, now that it's here are you about to sink a ton into it, or wait for it to drop further into the low $500+s; perhaps even eyeing for the $400+ range?
Hodl!!

Just bought     99.09999994 msc      2014-03-02 14:34:10   Grin
This was a brilliant move and you will be paid very well in the end.

Most MSC on the sell side are from 'day traders' and JR and programmers.  Almost nobody has coins for sale as a result in loss of faith in the project.  Mastercoin has money in the bank, a very sexy new DEx coming soon, better than expected wallets, and lots of momentum.  The price has been seriously pushed down because JR needed money and a few programmers are taking salary from the market.  I am pretty sure MSC is going to be crazy by summer.  If significant use adoption occurs in the fall, your 100MSC will be enough to retire on in most countries.

What's the difference between a nigger and Batman ?
Batman can go out without robbin'
You know, that is a little bit impolite.  I don't think everyone will appreciate such language.
1300  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Fastest Way to Make a Bitcoin? on: March 04, 2014, 01:31:51 AM
Whats the fastest way to make 1BTC? I have about .2BTC right now from about 6 months of altcoin mining and doing random things  Undecided i got lucky with an altcoin that hit big randomly so i made like all my btc from that but i wanna earn 1 to spend it on something i want, so i was just looking for some opinions from some of you big guys out there! Thanks!
Learn some clever hacking skills and steal one.  If your programming skills suck, then you could scam one from somebody.  There are loads of naive people around here.  Just promise them some crap - and then don't send it.  You'll have tons of bitcoins in no time.  Mark did this and ended up stealing half a billion dollars!!!  Call Mark (he has a call center now) and ask him how to do this.
