Customers would probably have the possibility in buying hosted GH by then.

and this is NEVER profitable for customers, so why bother.
Because in the described scenario, mining at "home" would be unprofitable anyway.

That is the whole idea behind deploying together to save costs....

It is basically the same than buying hardware and hosting it in a datacenter, but this time spondoolies would try to get the best bulk purchase discounts available.
But please do describe to me how you will be competing with (possibly immersion cooled) equipment with the best W/GH ratio and lowest energy prices on the planet (letīs say 5ct/kwh) by the end of 2014.
1282  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Spondoolies-Tech - Best W/GH/s ratio, Best $/GH/s ratio on: June 17, 2014, 04:40:29 PM
Do you have a private mine with your own equipment, built for your mine for you and your company and its Venture Capital investors?
We currently don't have a farm. Our data center is solely for hosting our customers units.
We don't have plan to have a farm during 2014.
We want to concentrate on building and selling the best mining machines, not operate farms.
Clear enough ?

Is this still the case? Will there be any disclosure should there be any future collaboration with Allied Control? Through what means will Spondoolies utilize to show their transparency to the community if you should start hosting customer units on a larger scale? To think that Spondoolies have not and will not consider immersion cooling is ludicrous (feel free to correct me if I'm wrong).

I do not have any problem with your products, which have been reviewed with much praise. Instead, I am more concerned that there will be another Bitfury-like entity, who have the means to control the total network hash rate.

Gen3 will probably be deployed within DC and managed by spondoolies, as by then individual mining could (should) be no longer profitable.
Customers would probably have the possibility in buying hosted GH by then.

However, this is still FAR in the future when taking into account "bitcoin time" and only one of many possibilities.

For this purpose and for possible large scale investors in Gen2 chips / devices the research at Allied Control will provide some experience with immersion cooling.
1283  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Spondoolies-Tech - Best W/GH/s ratio, Best $/GH/s ratio on: June 17, 2014, 09:16:36 AM
Some ASIC stats after playing around with it for a while, can most likely push it a bit further, enjoy.
Once again, this is in no way optimal conditions for the boards, with the heat dissipation surface down.

Is that in an immersion cooled environment?

Did you switch the PSU?

I am getting around the same speed at 1240W... and with 8 inactive chips....

Temps are looking good though. Is yours a May batch unit?

Also:
As you can see the chips are clocking at different speeds although they all show the same temperature.
This is most likely due to the firmware anticipating higher temperatures at the back of the unit, as you would typically see with air cooling.

The unit should be running a little more efficient (and possibly faster) if all clock speeds rise equally.
1284  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Spondoolies-Tech - Best W/GH/s ratio, Best $/GH/s ratio on: June 17, 2014, 07:35:53 AM
I think it is a good sign that AC is experimenting with these designs.

However, the first really profitable implementation should be with the sp30s, as they are much more power efficient.

I'm glad that there were able to set it up considering it was week-end. Who do you want to try next? Smiley

I am going to try out hashplex, as soon as their contracts become available again. A problem with them is they only charge for full KW of power requirement, but the price is good.
(If you can get your units to pull near full KW)

I also had experience with Juanīs hosting (112bit.com), which is only available for the Antminers he sells.
1 Antminer S2 for 87,5$ per month (on a one year contract) seems like a good price. He also stated he would allow upgrades to Antminer S4 once they become available.

Any computer device is more effective at 220V as AC/DC losses are lower.

If you need a power strip, buy one with surge protection.
However, these PSUs should include such protection, but better safe than sorry. UPSs will help you continue mining during brownouts, but are really a waste if your power is stable.

This is a guide for setting up a p2pool node, including nmc, dvc and ixc merged mining.

You can easily plug your countryīs specific power cord into the provided "extensions" cords.

Alternatively, you can directly plug them into one of these

Take a lookt at my sp10 Smiley

http://i61.tinypic.com/2q246ma.png

Also, i have a suggestion: You could add a button to the UI to switch pools from the ones in the list.

Nearly as good as my SP10 Tongue
+1 for the idea about switching pools easier, since you need to get off ghash lol

Yeah, but it always is a pain to switch everything in the pool settings thing so i thought a button "switch to this pool" would be nice.

You wouldnīt have to wait for the whole cgminer to restart again either.

Looks quite good, especially the intake temperature Smiley

Maxing out that poor power supply.

For SP10 what kind of spec power cord do we need?
A normal PC power cord, which you can get for around 2$ usually.

Well, when i am expected to pay 150€ for setting the unit up, i expect it to happen within 24 hours.

It has been 3 days now and still nothing, i also said i could do it via teamviewer myself (and included instructions).

Will try to have the lost amount deducted from setup fee.

I will try and keep you updated on this unfolding situation at Thor Datacenter.

Update:
I got a fast reply today and apparently they were really busy on a "huge" installation of equipment, and were only able to bring the backlog down at the weekend.

I have access to the unit now, will post some stats once they have evend out. (looks really promising so far!)
Given the circumstances, i hope they will consider lowering the setup fee.

http://moria.is

Electricity: 79 € per kW  p.a
Setup & Installation Fee: per device: 100 €

 Cool

bitpay?
If they offered bitpay it would be a good option, one of the best in fact.

I emailed Data Cell 2 weeks ago, but they didnīt even bother replying.
If that is a testiment to their service quality, it would look bad though.
1295  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Spondoolies-Tech - Best W/GH/s ratio, Best $/GH/s ratio on: June 14, 2014, 11:43:01 AM
So Spondoolies has joined the club of manufacturers facing delays and not being able to stick to their promised delivery time frame.
We reached this point faster than I expected, after such a good start..

Hope this was just a one-timer as I'm still on the fence watching..
Yeah, spondoolies was always open about their delivery timeframe, please take your unfounded bickering somewhere else.
As it still is June, production is right on track. I donīt know how you would manage it, but unit building takes some time. Please tell me how you would build eg 1000 units in one day, without charging a hefty premium.

The local shipping contractor might also have some complaints about something like that.

On a side note, it would be nice to have a hosting@ email adress for all questions regarding your hosted units.
I find it difficult to remember whom to cc when i have questions about my hosted units.
1296  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Who the hell is still mining on GHash.IO? GTFO that pool already!!! on: June 14, 2014, 11:05:59 AM
eligius merged mining doesnīt work anymore, as it doesnīt accept nmc adresses.

GH.io pays TX fees, merged mines 3 or 4 coins, has no fees.

If there is another pool like that out there, many would switch.
1297  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Who the hell is still mining on GHash.IO? GTFO that pool already!!! on: June 14, 2014, 10:40:50 AM
You are misinformed.

Ghash pays transaction fees too, aswell as merged mining.

If somebody sets up a p2pool node with ~0,5% fees and merged mining i would be in though.
1298  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Spondoolies-Tech - Best W/GH/s ratio, Best $/GH/s ratio on: June 14, 2014, 09:50:17 AM
You can always put a 3 kw space heater in your garage to simulate it.

Once again, the units do work above 35°C.

I canīt remember what the maximum was that spondoolies tested it at, though.

Sp30 should have a bit more thermal headroom though.
the spec say 35°C max ^^
That obviously doesnīt mean it wonīt work above the specified temperature. It just means full speed isnīt guaranteed then (and it might affect the lifecycle)

If you have cheap power available you could also think about ACing the unit, especially as most of the ACing should be needed when your solar panels produce the most electricity.

Bitfury moved most of his "own" hardware off gh, and it is at 43% again.

However, i would support a petamine p2pool node.

Does anyone know wether merged mining can be implemented with that?
