I have a second minute batch 1 order and I havenīt received tracking yet, so I doubt they have shipped in quantity yet.

However, it does take some time to update all the tracking info, so I might be wrong.

Does it only show shipping on myups? That could also mean that they just printed the label.....

That's a new one ! Chips got disconnected during shipment ?

Is that what Spondoolies told you Collider ?

This is a screenshot to the unit:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=622998.msg7323304#msg7323304

As to the exact inner workings I am not sure, but I think the DCDC connection in very early boards could be damaged by DHL playing football with the package.

As you can see from my unit screenshots, it is working at 1500GH, so quite a bit more than advertised.
I therefore didnīt bother to open it up or RMA the unit (which obviously isnīt underperforming at all.)

If anything, this proves that the hardware is designed quite well, as even with a small problem it still outperforms the rated specs.

AFAIK spondoolies is now using a different DCDC connection and the issue should no longer be a "problem".
944  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: New Raspberry Pi B+ on: July 15, 2014, 01:50:07 PM
Nice, so the new Raspberry Pi can control 4 ASIC instead of 2?
The new rasperry pi can control 4 USB devices without a hub, whereas the old raspi b would have needed a usb hub.

Both devices can control more than 4 miners.
945  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Spondoolies-Tech - Best W/GH/s ratio, Best $/GH/s ratio on: July 15, 2014, 12:56:09 PM
@spondoolies

How do you guarantee that all 30 chips work?
Do you just power up the unit and look whether all report hashing?

Also, please make sure that no chips get disconnected during shipment again.
While I was not too worried by my 9 disconnected chips in my sp10, I would be very worried if I received an sp30 with some of the 200GH chips not working.

Finally, is the WA hosting facility ready to receive the first miners once you start shipping?
Apart from one email about the offer, there isnīt any information about chosing this hosting package on your website.
946  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Spondoolies-Tech - Best W/GH/s ratio, Best $/GH/s ratio on: July 15, 2014, 12:03:31 PM
Getting ready to receive the ASICs
SP30 driver code is already in Con's cgminer repository: https://github.com/ckolivas/cgminer/pull/631
Nice.

What is the date for receiving the first packaged samples?
947  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANN: BITMAIN has Tested Its 28nm Bitcoin Mining Chip BM1382 on: July 15, 2014, 08:30:01 AM
I hope s3 b4 and b5 will improve the hashrate to 478 gh
That probably depends on whether they will get better DCDCs quickly.

It might also help to mount small custom heatsinks on them and they could work better.
948  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S3 Discussion and Support Thread. on: July 15, 2014, 06:13:04 AM
has anyone checked the status of his orders do you see any tracking numbers its 15/7/2014 already

No number yet.

If they ship some today, the tracking info would be sent very late Chinese time, so you can calculate when people would be reporting it.
949  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Spondoolies-Tech - Best W/GH/s ratio, Best $/GH/s ratio on: July 14, 2014, 04:52:13 PM
If you are talking stuff about a not yet formerly announced product, atleast state the power efficiency,
as I can build an even better 400TH miner come August when I combine several sp30s in my immersion cooled rack. (no, I do not own that much equipment... it is meant for illustration purposes only)

As this shows performance alone is a bad way to measure a miner.
950  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Which ASICs are least loud? on: July 14, 2014, 04:26:10 PM
ASICs typically emit no noise, itīs miners with fans that do.

That aside, antminer s3s are probably quite quiet (they have 140mm fans) and generally a good buy.

Newer Bitfury gear is the 3.5 TH boxes, which are not really available for consumer level customers.
951  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Spondoolies-Tech - Best W/GH/s ratio, Best $/GH/s ratio on: July 14, 2014, 03:42:33 PM
Please hold on to your sarcasm  Grin

Some people might not detect it as such and start spamming spondoolies on where to get some nonexistant preorder for some vaguely designed product.
952  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Spondoolies-Tech - Best W/GH/s ratio, Best $/GH/s ratio on: July 14, 2014, 03:21:48 PM
When can we pre-order SP50 machines ?

No pre-orders for gen3.

Reserved for the ST datacenter ? Mining contracts on sale soon ?
Dude, relax a little and wait for the actual gen2 launch before going into conspiracy-theory mode about gen 3 (still not before end of the year).

I do not know which sales-model will be used once it gets available (not even spondoolies knows it), and it is too early to speculate about it right now.
953  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Spondoolies-Tech - Best W/GH/s ratio, Best $/GH/s ratio on: July 14, 2014, 02:58:10 PM
Well, you can tinker with them and they are maybe a bit more of a novelty item, but that is really it I suppose.

Knowing me, I would just hook them up to cex multipool so I donīt wake up in the night to check whether they are still on the most profitable coin.... so there goes your tinkering.
954  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Spondoolies-Tech - Best W/GH/s ratio, Best $/GH/s ratio on: July 14, 2014, 02:48:44 PM
As stated previously, the possible future ASICs from spondoolies are still highly experimental and the way in which they will be sold to the community is still unclear,
as nobody knows what the market will look like in ~ 6 months (which is when they are planning to have them ready).

As they are nearing the production and shipment of their very first sp30s, I assume they have everything but (possible) sp50s on their mind.

Well you are becoming quite the spokesperson for Spondoolies these days Collider.

So when can we pre-order the new Spondoolies scrypt miner (The Vault Breaker in Spondoolies trim/colors)
I donīt know, ask them Wink

I am just repeating what spondoolies has stated before, so I do not think that it is inaccurate.

Personally, I do not understand why people buy scrypt asics in the first place, as they are typically less profitable than bitcoin mining ASICs, but maybe I am missing something.
(Part of the higher price is obviously due to the lower volume of orders)
955  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S3 Discussion and Support Thread. on: July 14, 2014, 02:43:47 PM

Frankly, all that I just wrote can also be found in the wiki. Uninformed people that base their opinion on their knowledge (or lack thereof) like you are the problem of this society.

Really that is the problem, hmm. Well I read the wiki and all I see is more infrastructure I have to maintain, more up dates, and more waiting for FW so my HW does not waste countless hours to make NADA. The thing that is wrong with society, IMHO, is jerks who hijack convos with annoying calls for information which has CLEARLY been stated as NOT AVAILABLE. Continuing to hammer the thread asking the same stupid question about a P2Pool functionality which is used by < 1% of the network is only meant to cast a negative light on a GREAT manufacturer. If they are SOOO worried why don't they BUY one and write the FW themselves OR WAIT until BitMain updates the status for S2/S3's to "P2Pool READY" IF they bother with such a marginal user base.

AS FOR NOW http://www.eligius.st/~wizkid057/newstats/userstats.php/1CzqqXY4CDAhg9CY9gYzH1kCAHRcY3jrcm runs S1/S2's and SOON S3's very nicely.

Your claims are utterly misinformed again.

You do not have to maintain any additional hardware to mine on p2pool, just use a node near you.  (so no, there is no need to maintain anything additionally)

There is no additional downtime from using p2pool... why would there be? ( you can still use your favourite traditional pool as a backup if you have some irrational fear of downtime)

I do not think society as a whole has the same problem from people voicing their opinion on internet forums, than from people who make halfinformed decisions on problems they do not understand.

Again, your comments show that you just donīt understand the way how p2pool works so please, stop to science.
956  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S3 Discussion and Support Thread. on: July 14, 2014, 01:11:52 PM
So... it was said that S3 will only need 2 PCIe connectors to operate, or 4 PCIe if it is overclocked.

We have now learned that overclocking by only 37GH/s makes it unstable to the point that Bitmain won't even do it or it could burn out. Does that mean at there really is no good reason to upgrade all PSUs to ones with 4 PCIe to replace S1 with S3??  Undecided

-OCS
There never was too good a reason to do that and now there is even less of a reason.

I would also recommend sidehacks server PSU breakout boards for powering antminer products.
957  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S3 Discussion and Support Thread. on: July 14, 2014, 12:51:23 PM
@whonesta
This is really not relevant to this thread but I will still try to explain quickly.

Your DOA rate of shares is always higher on p2pool because of the way it calculates work.
This however doesnīt matter for your payouts, the only thing that matters is the relative DOA rate of you vs the average usersī.

IF a share is a valid block but considered DOA due to timeout, it is still broadcast on to the blockchain and counts as a valid block, triggering payout for all p2pool users according to the sharechain.

Frankly, all that I just wrote can also be found in the wiki. Uninformed people that base their opinion on their knowledge (or lack thereof) like you are the problem of this society.
958  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S3 Discussion and Support Thread. on: July 14, 2014, 12:23:28 PM
Whole pack of P2Fool douches in here lol..  you guys are morons waiting to be robbed.. GL and ignored
Actually, it is much less moronic to "trust" a decentralized p2p mining pool than your average centralized one. (Both in terms of network security and handling payouts)

Anyway, I support the motion to call you names if you are really bitching about people that want promised information about a product in the thread of that product.
959  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S3 Discussion and Support Thread. on: July 14, 2014, 11:31:29 AM
Adding additional heatsinks to the DCDCs should improve efficiency (by a small amount) and might make them more stable at higher currents.

I guess I will try that out once they arrive.
