1281  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UFC 211: Miocic vs Dos Santos info and Prediction Thread on: April 18, 2017, 02:46:55 PM
I think Stefan "Skyscraper" Struve can become a dominant force in the heavyweight UFC division. He has insane height, reach, and power, he needs to put work in his technique to use physical superiority over the rest, otherwise he will be a useless lanky easy target.
Stefan Struve is a young fighter but the miles he had in combat competition is really huge,he has insane height and have a reach advantage and that can be compared only by Jon Jones who have exactly the same reach and if he is able to use his reach advantage like Jon Jones then he will be a great fighter, but he is having some medical conditions which is forcing him to sit out.Francis Ngannou will have a good future if he is able to improve his game.

I would like to see Jon Jones fight without his insanely big advantage of always having the longest reach. If he wasn't for the reach he would not be undefeated. Unfortunately I think at a technical level Struve is too far from Jon Jones, but if Cormier had Jon Jones reach he would get a beating easily.

Still a long way to go, 10 days or 2 weeks depending on the hashrate. Anything can go wrong at any second. It peaked at 0.0019 satoshis today, and now, 0.0098 satoshis, im glad that I didn't buy, maybe we can buy back cheaper.
Your numbers are a little off: it peaked at .0107 and sits at .00985. Things are just getting started, much higher numbers coming.

I misplaced a zero, I meant to say .019, and as expected the price is going down because Jihan Wu is screwing up investors again with his anti-segwit policy. Thought luck for those still holding LTC. Only way is down now and who knows how low it will go.

1284  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: how many people here are using tether? on: April 17, 2017, 01:51:22 PM
I've used it numerous times to go back and forth from BTC without buying another altcoin, but I will probably stop doing this since it seems it's not as safe anymore.
Is Bitshares a good alternative?
1285  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What computer do you lot use? on: April 16, 2017, 09:46:40 PM
Quadcore from 2008, 8 gigs of DDR2 ram, 1 TB 7200 rpm, 9 mb internet connection. If they raise the blocksize to 2mb i will probably give up on running a node because today I can deal with it but I cannot be bothered if I have to download twice the amount and store twice the amount. Let alone higher blocksizes.

Not everyone here is wealthy, some of us are modest working class guys. Its not in my plan to upgrade my computer, it does everything I need just fine.
I will also be dumping BTC when I cant run my own node, since if you cant run your own node then bitcoin is pointless (by the time I will have upgraded, but the moral of the story is, conservative blocksize is preferred so as much people as possible can run nodes).
1286  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: PIVX hits 2$+ on: April 16, 2017, 01:32:16 PM
It's a dash clone, nothing to see. And since it has low market cap it's an easy pump as long as greater fools come in.
But it has some differences, according to this:

Also, let's not forget, Monero was a Bytecoin clone too, or considered as that, and it surpassed it.
1287  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / PIVX hits 2$+ on: April 16, 2017, 01:03:32 PM
PIVX just keeps growing. Early investors must be rich by now. Is this coin any good compared to DASH, XMR, ZCash...? Is this just a pump and dump?

How high will PIVX go? will it reach $10?
1288  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UFC 211: Miocic vs Dos Santos info and Prediction Thread on: April 16, 2017, 12:25:46 PM
I think Junior Dos Santos is past his prime so is Fabricio Werdum, they have recieved too many hits to he head and need to retire. Miocic has improved a lot in the past years in his technique, his genetics make him a total beast, he will be a thought match an I think he will win JDS and continue reining the division with an Overeem that is also past his prime and definitely can't fight without steroids at top level.
The heavy weight division is filled with people who are really old,the average age is above 35 years and in the future if they could not find any real talents then it will be a boring division and that will be the case with light heavy weight division too as some of the top fighters have moved on to Bellator and with the retirement of Anthony Johnson the division has become shallow.

Only a node that is mining is a true full node.  The rest are just slowing down the propagation of blocks between the real full nodes.

At this point, I am convinced Roger Ver is compromised and is posting absurd shit like this to tip us off.

Mmm not sure, Roger Ver is known for not having very high understanding of the bitcoin technology, he has said a lot of nonsense in the past. I believe this is still him.
He was seen recently in several interviews. Or you mean he is coerced to say this nonsense?
1291  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Litecoin is officially dead on: April 15, 2017, 01:35:37 PM
http://litecoinblockhalf.com/segwit.php

Currently it's at the edge of activation, I think it will go below 75% in a block variance event and the counter is reset back to 0 since as far as I know the signaling must be continued.

More hashrate is needed again, because of Jihan's anti-segwit signaling.
1292  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Is there any place to gamble IF the Mayweather vs McGregor fight will happen? on: April 14, 2017, 11:14:46 PM
Some new videos with Dana White:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DxV0vjixDe4

I think happening. He says Mayweather-McGregor will be only crossover fight so this means it's happening. Anyone that took a bet for the fight happening would have won me included.

Then this will be one of the biggest fight if not the biggest fight since Mayweather vs Pacquiao. Let's hope it push through to see which mouth is louder during the press conference.  Grin

I think this will be one of the biggest fight in the history, I will go for Floyd Mayweather over McGregor. It's obviously Mayweather will use the ring and will not engage too much against to Mcgregor. You know Floyd will not stake his 49-0 for nothing, when this fight happens, obviously he will use and control the ring just what he did when he fought Manny Pacquiao.

Yes, I agree, Mayweather will defeat Connor. Easy fight for Floyd. We all know how Floyd's fight so its up, but I'm sure this will be sold out and PPV record numbers in the making. And for all we know, they are all in the business of making money. 50-0 for Mayweather here.
This is a PPV record breaker for sure, it will never be surpassed, no other fight can ever come any close, you would need something ridiculous like Barack Obama vs Donald Trump to surpass Mayweather vs McGregor in terms of sales.

I LOL'ed at the Barack Obama vs Donald Trump thing. Hmm. I may have wondered if this can broke Mayweather-Pacquiao PPV record? If my memory serves me right. Connor vs Diaz 2 and Lesner vs Mir holds the record with 1.6M buys. while May vs Pac does 4M. The most I estimate if ever they fight is to double the current record of UFC which I put around 3.2M only. Still far the record. IMHO.

This will crush the May vs Pac record for sure, 5 million tickets minimum, possibly something huge like 10 million. May vs Conor will be the highest selling fight ever, I doubt it will ever be topped.
1293  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: if bitcoin dies, what alt would you go for? on: April 14, 2017, 05:18:37 PM
I would go for a mix between litecoin, ethereum, xmr, zcash... if BTC dies it would be a gamble trying to find the right coin, so i guess diversification would be the right move.

It's not going to die tho, so its not even an issue.
1294  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: CLOAK INCREASES BY 11.55% IN ONE DAY on: April 14, 2017, 04:57:46 PM
Nothing extraordinary, this happens everyday in the crypto world, you would need 100% to catch people's attention, if you can find a coin like that then make a thread.
1295  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Number of Bitcoin users. on: April 14, 2017, 04:09:37 PM
Impossible to tell, we can never know exactly how many people use bitcoin, but you would be able to see that the transaction volume only goes up over time, which means more people are using it.
1296  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: How high will ETH go with Raiden pump? on: April 13, 2017, 05:28:13 PM
i think now the focus is on litecoin, and everything that come with segwit, i don't remember if ETH need segwit, but maybe not, the hype for segwit is really strong, because of all the stuff about bitcoin and forcing miners to activate segwit, for now i can't see ethereum getting another good pump like the last one, but i could be wrong, crypto is really unpredictable

I dont know more coins with segwit. VTC and SYS already pumped, now its LTC time but LTC for segwit is too hard to achieve.

ETH raiden pump inminent?
1297  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / How high will ETH go with Raiden pump? on: April 13, 2017, 04:32:31 PM
People seem to be starting getting excited about Raiden. Are we still warming up, or correction already incoming? How high can the Raiden thing make ETH go? Im considering buying some, but not sure how market will react.
1298  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Is there any place to gamble IF the Mayweather vs McGregor fight will happen? on: April 13, 2017, 02:58:29 PM
So if the Conor McGregor vs Floyd Mayweather fight ends up the same where Conor cannot break the barrier of Floyd and then have 12 rounds of nothing then this will be another overhyped and boring fight, right. The people will say it is Conor's fault because he cannot hit Floyd.

That was the whole point. I do not care who's fault it is.

Haha me as well. The point is it would be a very boring fight indeed. Yet i also still dont care i still want to get the chance if conors fight outside the octagon.

You are absolutely right, but let's not deprive ourselves of some profits (Bitcoins or fiat) even if they sell a poor fight just like the way most boxers make the money and still sell the boring fights.

I would of course still somehow consider the high possibility that mayweather would really brought a boring fight(duh we all know how he does his money making/boring fight most of the time) still i am hoping for a good shot from the crazy muffin mcooner

It's great news that this fight will happen, we are all indeed hoping that McGregor has a lucky strike and manages to KO him, and if he KO's him, it will be a historic moment.

If not, well, Mayweather can retire with a perfect 50-0 record and continue living a dream life.
1299  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Fuck: SegWit, LN, Blockstream, Core, Adam Back, and GMazwell on: April 13, 2017, 01:19:18 PM

The only person I've seen pushing the "fractional reserve" myth is kiklo, but I can understand how it might have easily spread.  Since the total sum of BTC being transacted is still locked in place on the main Bitcoin blockchain, no more and no less can be transacted on LN.  Whichever amounts are being transacted on Lightning, they are always "backed" by an equal amount of bitcoin.  No coins can be created out of thin air.

It all depends on how far we deviate from the original P2P cash system.

The more complicated and layered it gets, the more potential for all kinds of schemes and shennanigans.

As it is now, even with LN, the fact that people could settle their transactions anytime makes it hard
to get around the fact that Bitcoin is a digital asset, not a debt instrument.

Still, even now, lets say there was a big company "petty cash quick payments" where you kept
a channel open for a long time and used it like a credit/debit card.... the longer you go without
closing the channel, the more room there is for abuse and owing more money than you have.

Protocols only scale worldwide by adding additional layers on top. You are the same kind of idiot that was saying TCP/IP would never scale and was against adding additional layers such as HTML and so on.

Please refrain from posting technical nonsense and support segwit + LN if you want bitcoin to be more than a coin for rich people to move big amounts of money.
