1301  Other / Politics & Society / Re: OBAMA: ‘IMPORTANT’ SECOND AMENDMENT RESPONSIBLE FOR HIGH HOMICIDE RATES on: March 10, 2015, 02:04:13 AM
It's important to not ignore this kind of rhetoric but keep in mind that it's just rhetoric. Just because he wants it doesn't mean it's possible for him to make it law. The entire congress is led by his opposition so it would be VERY difficult for him to get anything through.

And the People always have the final say - through the vote, through the protest, through civil disobedience.
And violent rebellion when all else fails. That's what the founding fathers intended with the second amendment. The problem is times have changed a great deal in the last 300 years. In the late 1700s, every citizen was armed, and with the same weapons technology as any government army troop - the musket. That's simply no longer the case in the twenty first century. A relatively small percentage of the population is armed now, and NO citizen can come anywhere near matching the firepower at the government's disposal. Attack helis, fighter jets,  tanks, napalm bombs, and so on.

The harsh reality is that if our government decided to become hyper-tyranical tomorrow,  there isn't a damn thing Johnny Gun-nut could do to stop them other than throw his life away for the cause. And that sacrifice would be in vain unless there were witnesses who brought it to media/net attention.

In the gunpowder age, our best defense against tyranny WAS a well armed populace.
Our greatest weapon against tyranny in the information age isn't a gun, it's information. It's the internet,  it's the cameras in our cell phones and the speed of information. Truth is a far more powerful ally to liberty today than bullets ever were. Keep that in mind if you want to be taken seriously by anyone when debating this issue.

TL;DR the second amendment is obsolete. Sorry, fellow Americunts, but that's reality.
1302  Other / Politics & Society / Re: The end of copyright and patent is where we should be headed - OPEN SOURCED :) on: March 09, 2015, 05:30:23 PM
I might be more polite when you stop being a hypocrite. And you replied anyway.

I replied but did not answer any question (as I said I would not).

But you're still a brainwashed Disenfranchised peasant.

Again with the insults - do I insult you?

If you have anything to offer to discussion then can't you do it without resorting to being a child?

(this is generally why I don't bother engaging with a lot of people on this forum because they can't help but to carry on like children)

You might think that you have "won some sort of victory" when I lock a topic or unwatch it - but actually I never think anything further about it after that (so you *victory* is only in your own mind).

My sincere apologies if I hurt your feelings. I can be a little blunt sometimes, and other times a downright asshole. It's a flaw, I'm human after all. But seriously, ifyyou're that thin-skinned, an adult Internet forum might be the wrong place for you. I've heard Christian forums set up for children are much less tolerant of meanies like me.
1303  Other / Politics & Society / Re: The end of copyright and patent is where we should be headed - OPEN SOURCED :) on: March 09, 2015, 04:55:37 PM
You think the rules are made for your benefit,  peasant?

You might try and be a bit more polite if you want someone to actually reply to your questions (and "peasant' doesn't really work that well as an insult to me
I might be more polite when you stop being a hypocrite. And you replied anyway.

I regard all my fellow non-millionaires as the peasants we are. If this bothers you it's because you've been Indoctrinated into a politics that serves the Interests of your masters, like all the other temporarily embarrassed millionaire peasants. If it doesn't bother you, good for you. But you're still a brainwashed
Disenfranchised peasant.

But you're right about copyright/patent. Technology will be the death of them, just as the rapidly developing compassion-politics of the information age will spell the end of capitalism.
1304  Other / Politics & Society / Re: The end of copyright and patent is where we should be headed - OPEN SOURCED :) on: March 09, 2015, 04:41:35 PM
I really don't need to fork your thread but... How can you call for the end of ownership while claiming being known to lock threads if the people participating do not follow your rules?... Do you own your threads?

It is a question of *rules* and the rules about copyright and patents are not good ones (IMO).
Those rules are excellent at serving the interests of the rich fucks that make the rules.

You think the rules are made for your benefit,  peasant?  You probably believe in the legitimacy of modern "representative" democracy,  too. The one where the reps are all millionaires and billionaires and those being "represented" are overwhelmingly poor and middle caste.
1305  Other / Politics & Society / Re: The end of copyright and patent is where we should be headed - OPEN SOURCED :) on: March 09, 2015, 04:34:55 PM
Okay - so is this going to be actually about the concepts or about me locking the other topic?

(if you've seen the various topics I've raised about ad sig posting you might get an idea why I have locked recent topics I've started)

It's going to be about your intellectual cowardice and disdain for open discourse.

And about how capitalism is a living nightmare for billions of human beings,  and a torture + death sentence for hundreds of millions of children who starve each year. And anything else I feel like educating you privileged fuckwits about.
1306  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What did you do with your bitcoin today? on: March 09, 2015, 04:31:56 PM
The same thing I did yesterday and the day before. HODLED!
1307  Other / Off-topic / Re: If BTC goes to $1000 or more, what would you do? on: March 09, 2015, 04:29:39 PM
Nothing, it's just $1000, the potential should be more than $10K.

Potential? Try 60-80 million usd per coin. But that's probably 20+ years off still.
1308  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will bitcoin surpass all previous tests of probability? on: March 09, 2015, 04:08:28 AM
If there was some cosmic force affecting probability in extreme cases,  we'd know it by now. This is classic pseudoscience.
1309  Other / Off-topic / Re: If BTC goes to $1000 or more, what would you do? on: March 09, 2015, 04:06:00 AM
Continue holding. Like a boss.
1310  Other / Politics & Society / Re: The end of copyright and patent is where we should be headed on: March 08, 2015, 03:09:04 PM

Yes, most communists are totalitarians, and they take away free speech as soon as they get any power.  Maybe you can't take away my rights yet, but you can sure force me to stop talking!  That'll show me!
Conveniently ignoring the fact that our capitalist corporate elite have been fighting tooth and nail to debase the internet for the last decade..
1311  Other / Politics & Society / Re: NYPD Says Innocent, Unarmed People Shot By Cops Are ‘Walking Into Police Bullets on: March 08, 2015, 03:05:30 PM
Not zombies,  X-men. Because only a fictional speed-mutant could be fast enough to walk into a bullet. I for one think we should support our hyper-militarized, poorly trained, low IQ police force in their just and righteous war against our mutant oppressors.
1312  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Where do you stand on Ferguson? on: March 08, 2015, 02:55:37 PM
Where do you stand on Ferguson? Whose fault was it?

In th particular event that happened, the policeman was clearly lawfully and righfully defending himself but Ferguson may have a lot of hate issues linked to communities that can't rise themselves out of their problems.
I feel bad for the policeman. Everyone now knows him and might judge him. His life his ruined because of what he did lawfully, he was just doing his job.
"just doing our jobs" was the Nurembeg defense. It failed.
1313  Other / Politics & Society / Re: What was Occupy Wall Street in your opinions? any theories? guess? on: March 08, 2015, 02:51:47 PM
OWS = a tremor before an earthquake.
1314  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Did Satoshi make any comments about the initial 'imbalance' of Bitcoin wealth? on: March 08, 2015, 02:41:37 PM
And, considering that no one complains about continuous imbalance of fiat money ownership (central banks own every newly created fiat money, thus 100% of base money belongs to them originally), why should we care about bitcoin's small imbalance
This is the major difference that some people in this thread seem to be missing. Tomorrow the FED could decide to print 100 million dollar bills and effectively rob the wealth of all holders of dollars worldwide via massive inflation of the supply of dollars.

Bitcoin makes that an impossibility,  it represents a true democratization of money,  and that property is extremely valuable - I would argue priceless - to every human being not in control of fiat printing press.

It's worth having a poorly distributed wealth concentration if it means we get A global money supply with democracy baked into the code as eternal law. We can and will solve the inequality problem later.  Got to cross that bridge when we come to it, mass global adoption.
1315  Other / Politics & Society / Re: "Geopolitical Situation Most Dangerous Since WWII" on: March 07, 2015, 02:23:38 PM
Each day we allow governments to continue having nuclear warheads ready to launch against civilian populations we reaffirm our insanity and powerlessness against state violence.
1316  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Net neutrality just went through, opinions? on: March 07, 2015, 02:20:20 PM
So the FCC just passed the net neutrality bill. What is your opinion?
The only ones voting no here should be corporations.
1317  Other / Politics & Society / Re: The end of copyright and patent is where we should be headed on: March 07, 2015, 02:17:12 PM
I think the "discussion" about capitalism should probably belong in another topic.
Hell no, we hijacked this thread fair and square. You cannot simply steal it back from us!

Also capitalism sucks the cheese from a goat's ballsack.
1318  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Where do you stand on Ferguson? on: March 07, 2015, 02:12:24 PM
A criminal f'ing with the police should expect the worst to happen.
You got that backwards. The police are supposed to protect and serve,  follow due process of law, and escalate to lethal force ONLY when they or other bystanders are in mortal danger.

A criminal should expect to be treated exactly as the laws of the land say he should be. Unless that criminal is a black male in racist as fuck middle America,  in which case he should regard police as enemy combatants. Kill them before they kill you.
1319  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Is it true that strong "social connections" are required for happiness? on: March 07, 2015, 02:05:57 PM
I guess that's why solitary confinement is torture...
Yes, it's also one of the reasons the modern world makes us so miserable.  The loss of once ubiquitous platonic affection (non-sexual contact), which all primates are hard-wired for, causes a great deal of suffering for modern people. It's worse for men, because of the fragility of western masculinity.
1320  Other / Politics & Society / Re: The end of copyright and patent is where we should be headed on: March 07, 2015, 03:27:18 AM
Whatever comes after capitalism will have to be better, because capitalism is the worst.
Not because capitalism is the worst, although it is pretty awful. But because civilization socially evolves over time. Barbarism -> slavery -> feudalism -> capitalism -> whatever comes next.

I have absolutely no doubt that our grandchildren will inhabit a kinder, more compassionate world than we do. Barring any apocalypse scenario.
