1341  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Negative House Edge Crypto Casino on: November 06, 2020, 08:49:03 AM
I had a look at the site phreess.com and when I read the following
Quote
With Phreess blockchain technology, we guarantee prices not to go down, but only up. Once a certain price is reached, everyone will be able to buy and sell at that price until the price increases again.
I could only close the page and start laughing.

I havent spot it out and thank you for elaborating it buddy and same as yours on when the time i do able to read up some guarantees of likes "price will increase and wont drop" kind of lines
then that will already automatically give out some negative impressions. Giving out some guarantees that investors wont lose money if they decide to buy the token is just only
good or can only happen in dreams but in real life? Meh. .Those are just empty words yet price increase or value will always vary on the demand on said tokens.
I agree with some words that this is something new in way of selling out projects token but giving out guarantees? that really leave out some not good impressions.

I should've worded out that differently. I guess the only guarantee in life is that life will go on.

Do you know what you should have avoided? To start a shady project in the first place; then you come here promoting your negative house edge coin flipping game to get people's interest.
I have snapshotted your bold statement in case you will change it

I don't flag you know but I will watch this closely to help people not being scammed by your ICO.
1342  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: An Indian boy committed suicide after losing money by Betting in IPL on: November 06, 2020, 08:40:01 AM
A few years ago I faced a situation where I lost a really huge amount and I was mad to myself, not thinking about suicide but thinking of how to remake the money I lost put me in a great amount of stress.I was about to fall in depression when a neighbor of mine told me,you can remake the money but you cannot recover your mind if it goes away,be strong and start over because people have had worse situations than yours. These words immediately cleared my mind and since then I only play small amounts.

I am sorry for this person who commited suicide, probably he was not as lucky as me to have found guidance in such a crucial moment of his life.
It is good to be out of that vicious circle! And stay out of it  Wink Gamble just for fun and don't overreact when losing even small amounts: I know that's where everything starts, one begins chasing losses and then ends up losing everything.
Speaking of that guy, that's a very sad story and, unfortunately, it's not one of a kind. We read that too many times.
1343  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2020-11-03]Bitcoin whales tread water and hodl despite recent BTC price drop on: November 06, 2020, 08:04:08 AM
Don't stop at the headline: I posted this article because it was interesting to notice that there is a low inflow of Bitcoin into exchanges and this means the selling pressure is not that high. We have been noticing this inflow decrease for a while now and that tells us something.
I agree that they could have given another headline to the article.

Let me avoid to comment on what's happening price-wise. I will speak only after 20K

Anyway, here's who's making money, tons of money thanks to the yellow friend

1345  Bitcoin / Press / [2020-11-05]Square reports $1.63B in BTC sales for Q3 via its Cash app on: November 06, 2020, 07:54:10 AM
How money is made thanks to our yellow friend  Cool

Quick Take
  • Square said Thursday that sold $1.63 billion in bitcoin through its Cash App during the third quarter of 2020
  • The gross profit figure was $32 million for the period, per the firm’s Q3 data release
  • Since launching bitcoin purchase capabilities at the start of 2018, Square has now sold more than $3.4 billion in total sales

Backing out the cost to acquire the bitcoin, Square made $32 million in gross profit on its bitcoin sales, up more than 15 times since last year and good for more than 4% of total company gross profit.
"Bitcoin revenue and gross profit benefited from an increase in bitcoin actives and volume per customer," the firm said in its report.

nopara is a funny guy. The ETA part was so hilarious when I read it.
He is saying that, if everything plays out well, we will see Wasabi Wallet 2.0 in 14 months. The only fact of giving a 3months option a 95% chance of missing the deadline is funny. Good for him he has no boss, try giving those estimates as a Project Manager.  Grin Grin Grin

1349  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: A gambler living in England makes a $5M bet on Trump on: November 05, 2020, 09:58:50 AM
Poor guy, that bet will probably hunt his days and nights! If the game was rigged it will hunt him even more: losing $5M due to some fraud must be so painful. But if he can bet so much money on a single bet he must have way more than that.
1350  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Any idea when the Bitcoin Mempool will stop being so congested? on: November 05, 2020, 09:43:14 AM
Now the mempool is behaving kind of ok, you can try sending your cheap segwit transactions now. I see less than 40000 txs in the mempool with the following average fees
  • Low priority
    47 sat/vB ($0.94)
  • Medium priority
    87 sat/vB ($1.74)
  • High priority
    166 sat/vB ($3.32)

As long as it works the way it is intended, I do not actually care about any UX and/or UI improvements.  Grin
Give me the right anonymity sets, give me excellent coin control, keep me away from toxic waste and I will leave happily-ever-after.
1352  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: A gambler living in England makes a $5M bet on Trump on: November 04, 2020, 08:40:55 AM
The player must be in tremendous trepidation right now! Donald Trump won a series of key battlegrounds including Florida, Ohio and Iowa while Biden expressed confidence he would ultimately prevail across key Northern states and Arizona.
On the NYT I see Biden is ahead: Biden Trump 227-213
1353  Bitcoin / Press / [2020-11-03]Bitcoin whales tread water and hodl despite recent BTC price drop on: November 04, 2020, 07:57:03 AM
Two key on-chain indicators show that whales and retail investors, in general, are not actively selling Bitcoin. First, the BTC estimated leverage ratio shows that trades in the derivatives market are not decreasing. This shows that investors are not proactively closing their positions or trades amid the uncertainty around the U.S. presidential election.
However, after the election results come out, the high BTC estimated leverage ratio poses a risk of increased volatility. Ki Young Ju, CEO of CryptoQuant, told Cointelegraph: “The BTC Estimated Leverage Ratio on derivative exchanges is increasing till the election day. It might cause high volatility on BTC price due to cascade liquidations.”
Ju explained: “Whales in US spot exchanges are not active for now. Spot Exchanges’ Inflow Mean is the average amount of bitcoin deposited on the spot exchanges, including US exchanges such as Coinbase Pro, Gemini, Bittrex, and others. It’s helpful to see the short-term dumping risk of whales.”

1354  Economy / Gambling / Re: ⭐ Crypto.Games ⭐ 0.8% House Edge on Dice ⭐ Largest wagering contest...ever ⭐ on: November 04, 2020, 07:51:36 AM
Another possibility is that the player chases, let's say, over 99.989 and the bet result happens to be under 0.010  Grin
That happened to me three years ago for example. Not only one has to go for the correct result (over/under) but also in the right direction!
Going back to the hidden user bets it would be nice to know the overall profit.
1355  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Let's Say Bitcoin is scam on: November 04, 2020, 07:41:38 AM
I have never thought for a single moment that bitcoin was a scam or a Ponzi scheme. It requires a bit of intelligence to understand the many different intricacies of the bitcoin world, I know that. When you get how it brilliantly uses economic incentives, game theory, energy consumption to secure the network and fixed supply you could never believe it is a scam.
Go and read the whitepaper, that's all in there.

@famososMuertos
I hope more GOSUers will share their thoughts as you did. Just wanted to clarify that I don't work for efialtis Grin Nonetheless, I believe his site is great and I am very happy to see it growing.
You see, I had a very bad experience with a casino (which is still around) back in 2017. A site like GOSU could have helped me to avoid being robbed while playing bonus money which had totally confusing requirements.
Guys keep them coming  Cool

I feel it's worth a mention that one of GOSU's most popular casinos (besides being relatively new) - Chips.gg - introduced the super popular NetEnt slots yesterday.

It's also worth mentioning that there is an event about to start in order to celebrate this and it's definitely worth checking it out - the rules couldn't be simpler really and very fair: https://www.btcgosu.com/blog/news/chips-gg-netent-777x-lucky-multiplier-event/
Nice one efialtis. I will personally skip this one as I am focusing on other promos at the moment but, hey, keep 'em coming!
Offering such promos, with no minimum bet, can attract many players because when you have so clear rules to get a final prize anyone feels to give it a try. I would hope other casinos would take that as an example.

Am I being too pessimistic? I don't think so, just look around.
We gave up freedom for comfort, that's the least we can get.
You're being realistic. It's the unfortunate truth people do not want to hear and acknowledge. It's sometimes easier to accept and live in a false reality, where you're being told what to think rather than thinking on your own.

What websites are you visiting? I cant remember the last time I used a website which wanted to know more than an email address (which of course would have been a disposable email).
@Karartma1 is probably talking about websites collecting your fingerprint & digital behavior and scrapping as much data as possible.
Yes, I am talking about basically every internet site that farms, collects, shares and analyses whatever a poor user can not even understand.
They go click after click not knowing that every action they do is monitored (https://www.hotjar.com/ anyone?), they leave unique fingerprints as they switch from one shop to the other (and then they ask why did I get that camera ad straight after sending an email to a photographer friend?) I could go on forever.
@ o_e_l_e_o I believe we are old-fashioned users, we know how to circumvent and avoid being tracked, tagged, scanned and so on.
But the majority is made of people who will gladly sell their privacy to keep on being on soma on the internet (brave new world inspired me on this last one).
