341  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽UEFA EURO 2020 Discussion Thread | Current Phase: Finals in June 2021! on: June 15, 2021, 01:35:16 PM
Six World Championships and five European Championships. It would be enough to add up the rich palmares of the two national teams to define a challenge like the one between France and Germany, a heated rivalry that dates back to the dawn of time. Two superpowers, two superarmies of world soccer that find themselves, due to a bizarre draw, competing for the first place in the terrible Group F of Euro 2020.
This game is very hard to predict but it'll be a must watch.
IMHO, the countless solutions that Deschamps has at his disposal tip the scales in favor of France. And with the likes of Mbappé and Griezmann on the field, they can't help but be slightly favored over their German rivals. Germany's attack has been struggling lately, but this looks like a match with at least three goals in total, where both teams will score. Other than that, only God knows!

Goals and emotions at the Johan Cruijff Arena. The Netherlands makes its debut in this European Championship by knocking out Ukraine. But what a struggle for the Oranje, who were brought back from 2-0 down to 2-2 in just four minutes. In the final minutes, however, it was Dumfries' shot that fixed the score at 3-2. For the national team led by Franck de Boer, without de Ligt, the best way to start their journey in group C and respond to Austria's victory over Macedonia.
343  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [CONMEBOL] Copa America 2021 Discussion Thread on: June 14, 2021, 08:02:51 AM
Yes, Brazil opened the 2021 Copa America with a 3-0 win over a Covid-weakened Venezuela with as many as eight players absent. Defender Marquinhos scored the go-ahead goal midway through the first half, his backheel shot went through the legs of a defender and into the net.
Neymar scored his 67th national team goal from the penalty spot. Substitute Gabigol scored his third with two minutes left when he chested in a Neymar cross after the tireless PSG player had headed it past the goalkeeper.
Brazil's next game is against Peru on June 17.
But this Covid-tormented Cup shouldn't have been played at all IMO.
344  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tennis League All Thread on: June 14, 2021, 07:58:02 AM
Great final match, great win by Novak.
Tsitsipas tried to repeat his feat against Zverev, asking for and getting the cheering of the crowd, but he had forgotten that in 2019 Djokovic won Wimbledon while having the whole stadium against him. He saved a break point, and started well in the fifth: 1-0. But the collapse is only postponed. On 1-1 he had to face another one, with the second serve and lost the game. It was the break that was worth a Slam. In fact, neither tennis player lost his turn at bat, and the Serb triumphed again in Paris. Deservedly so, IMHO.

It's better that Uncle Zhang finds a way to finance Internazionale's transfer market. If I'm not mistaken, the market in Italy officially opens on July 1st. If Zhang doesn't move to give certainty to his top players, Inter next year will be a mid-table team. And I have been optimistic.

Thanks for this, I went through the links. Nice historical references to the progression to where we are now. All the concepts involved are very interesting and significant. Math & science at its best.

My only concern is that the more of such elements one adds to the protocol, the more complex it becomes, and this has the potential to make it less robust (more vulnerable to attacks and other complications). I'm very supportive of any improvement that can add important features to the protocol, but I'm just a tiny little bit concerned of the end result, once the beast is released out in the wild. I trust the developers and I'm sure they've tested everything thoroughly, so hopefully nothing wrong will come out if this, but just a stronger, more capable, more flexible protocol.

I get your concern, any code added increases the attack surface. BUT the beauty is you don't have to use the newly added functionality (as with most other software upgrades). It is a softfork, legacy addresses or multisig not using Schnorr signatures and Tapscript will keep on working just fine (and the Schnorr signature scheme is from 1990 so already rather proven). It is now up to the wallet software providers and blockchain explorers to update their software, for exchanges and third party custodians it will (and probably should) take even longer.

Guess I am trying to say the adoption of Taproot will be slowly over time. It is not that with the Taproot activation in November anything immediately changes to Bitcoin.

The beauty of BTC is that the idea is from the 70s and the code is moslty from 90s 00s.
And people still don't get how valuable that is.
Thanks bitcoin devs

yeah, taproot locked in. what's next in the bitcoin development pipeline?
Having all the improvements available SOON!

Two years ago, at this time, Paolo Maldini was chatting in Ibiza with Theo Hernandez: after that conversation, the French full-back was convinced to accept Milan's proposal, the rest is known. In order to convince Junior Firpo to take the left side of AC Milan, instead, Maldini's blitz will not be necessary: Firpo has clear ideas, he is ready to wear the Rossoneri jersey as he would have been already in January. The doubts that held him back then were last-minute doubts, and of a purely personal nature: his second child was about to be born in that period and Firpo did not feel like moving to Italy, leaving his partner alone in such a special moment.

What happened to Christian Eriksen yesterday has been quite touching. Today we expect an official statement on the midfielder's condition by Denmark. In the meantime, the Danish federation has cancelled the training session scheduled today at the Helsingor sports center at 12 pm and the afternoon press conference.
I think they want to take it easy and avoid some unnecessary pressure for their players.

Over the past 15 years only two tennis players managed to win a SLAM final debut against an opponent who had already disputed. It happened to Juan Martin del Potro at the US Open 2009 against Federer and Stanislas Wawrinka at the 2014 Australian Open against Nadal.
Djovokic seemed too good against Nadal and I don't think Tsitsipas will be able to make it.
351  Economy / Economics / Re: El Salvador plan to make BTC legal tender on: June 13, 2021, 08:23:29 AM
Everything must start from somewhere? What if this is the opportunity for Salvadorians to improve their life and start getting rid of all those 3rd country problems?
I don't like when people tend to focus always on the bad sides while don't recognizing the true good value that such a move would bring to the country.

If you just add a new currency/asset/mean of exchange (call crypto as you like) what did you do?! They didn't replace the old system with something better and improved, they just added one more payment option! Which is a good thing, for rich people, or for the people who have a lot of coins... but what this means for ordinary people in El Salvador who don't have money or coins?

I agree that everything must start from somewhere and that somewhere should be from the root of the problems! And I simply don't see this like that... call me pessimistic, but I live in a third-world country, and I know what kind of problems we have! These problems can't be solved just by adding new payment options! When I see some country making a decision to replace the old system and go full crypto, everything on-chain and transparent, I will see that as a good start that can make big changes! Like this, it's just putting a patch on a gun wound!
Of course problems won't go away simply by adding Bitcoin as a new payment option. Thing is though that it's not simply like adding a new payment option this is making bitcoin legal tender which is much more.
This is not only for rich people, with LN they are trying to use it where its needed the most.
Without speculating on what it'll be let's just wait and see how this will play out.

Number go down.

My cousin's only remaining BTFD order still stands untouched @ $30,100. It was nearly filled a few days ago...

I want the price to go up, but also really want him to BTFD... So I'll be happy either way it goes.

Regardless, we all know where it will eventually go, so a little touch down on $30k won't harm anyone. And I may also be able to BTFD. Have some fiat lying around, been thinking about it for some time, even though I've said to myself that I will try to never buy again, no need to be greedy. But $30k will surely be very tempting.
Don't misunderstand me but having just bought a property and being out of cash I'm also good if we hover around low prices so that I can accumulate a few satoshis down the road.
But my dear btc can do whatever, I'll never complain either way.
353  Economy / Economics / Re: El Salvador plan to make BTC legal tender on: June 12, 2021, 09:27:43 AM
I must say i like El Salvador, this country creates a history, making BTC as the country's legal tender, i can't help but wonder if more countries will follow suit, even if still small country, i believe a single spark can start a prairie fire.

Yea, I like El Salvador too... but from a big distance! I wouldn't go there even if you pay me for that!

If we can call it a country, it's small, run by gangs... MS 13! The documentaries about them that I watched are crazy, literally! Who will follow this god-forsaken place?

I mean it's OK what they are trying to do... but the reality is hard for them! And I don't think that Bitcoin can help them, they need to change many other things first! Maybe this can be seen as the first step towards some bigger changes... maybe! Time will tell, but I am not so sure about that!

354  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Crypto-Casinos and KYC on: June 12, 2021, 09:20:37 AM
I'd rather comply with KYC on exchanges compare to gambling sites. They shouldn't have the same approach. Even if my favorite gambling site will ask its users for KYC, no way. There are lots of options to choose from.
But what if they suddenly asked you for KYC and your funds were stuck there? I think I'll just have to do it if that happens to me. I've seen some situations told that in the forum that they've been through with that.
After the compliance, then that will be the time I'll choose with the other options.

You won't get into that situation If you didn't violated the terms of conditions. They can't just freeze your account just because they wanted to, otherwise it's the company's  violation and you can report it to the authorities.
Those you have read in the forums about frozen accounts might've overlooked the deposit and withdrawal rules limit. So they were asked to pass the KYC procedure.
What if they are not regulated? In that case there are no authorities to report to. Never trust any company like those on the internet and in the end always consider your funds and your data at risk.
And never think they can't freeze your account: they can do whatever they want.
355  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tennis League All Thread on: June 12, 2021, 09:07:03 AM
I mean have you guys compared Djokovic and Nadal faces after 4hrs of intense tennis?
There was no comparison! Djokovic is a machine of its own, a true one of a kind. Nadal should probably think of retiring: the moment he took oof his left shoe and socks I could see the guy was exhausted.
Djovokic should bring the Roland Garros home.
356  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽UEFA EURO 2020 Discussion Thread | Current Phase: Finals in June 2021! on: June 12, 2021, 09:03:27 AM
I don't understand why many celebrate the "amazing" victory By Italy against Turkey. I'm sorry but Italy's victory came because of Turkey's inconsistency: Turkey planned a completely defensive game without being able to make fast counterattacks on Italy's side.
Yesterday, any other top team would have won against the Italians.
357  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: And now the IMF comes in! on: June 11, 2021, 10:15:55 AM
Let the IMF do their bad sheriff part, this time they can't do anything. The Bitcoin Standard has started in El Salvador and can't do anything about it. Now more than ever we need som DeFi on top of bitcoin so that El Salvador can finance its operations not via some mafia loans from the financial market but in the open ground of BTC liquidity.
358  Economy / Economics / Re: Ransomware hacks linked to Crypto are killing Bitcoin slowly !! on: June 11, 2021, 10:11:26 AM
Maybe the funniest part of it all is the fact that bitcoin and ransomware go along very well together. I remember a friend of mine got a very nasty one where when the HD got encrypted he received an automatic live BTC paying request where the btc address was changing every hour.

And so it begins, delayed Euro 2020 is finally upon us.
Turkey-Italy is the opening match of Euro 2020 and will be played tonight at 9pm CET at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome.
Turkey is a balanced national team and must be faced with great respect. Trained by Senol Gunes, already in charge as coach in the early 00's, they can count on important players. Three out of all, the Milan player Calhanoglu and the two Lille guys, Burak Yilmaz and Yazici. The last defeat came in October, while recently there have been 2 draws and 4 victories, one of which with Holland (4-2) in the qualifying round for Qatar 2022.
Having said all this I believe tonight Italy will win by one goal.
