1361  Economy / Lending / Re: [Found]130 Bit Coin Loan Request! on: February 07, 2012, 01:58:06 AM
I queried two other accounts, but insufficient evidence to have any more information released at this stage.
Please don't post stuff like that publicly without some kind of evidence. I have no reason to believe those accounts are connected to this guy.

To clarify, I do not think those two accounts are linked to the Gurg2.o  KuJoking7 or westcoastconnect.

I do, however, have concerns about the credit-worthiness of these two users given other information and observations.

There was blame on both sides, but there was an valid point Mathew made in that the "premium" domain names were not especially well used/valuable as they were being promoted.
And he wasn't punished for that. What he was punished for was the trollish comments he made in that post, such as asking if Vual was 12. If he had left things at that, the thread would have turned out much better.

Agreed

When I joined this forum, it was (and still is) a punishing place for the ignorant or stupid.  Many posts were nasty and unfriendly.  It is a bit better now, but still easy to have someone randomly have a swipe at you for no good reason.  Someone new should have at least taken the time to learn about what they were getting into.
We don't want it to be that way, and we're doing what we can to fix that.

Appreciated - it is better than it was.

Thanks Maged.  I have loans (bad ones) to all three.  I have some rather unhelpful thoughts directed to this person.

Let me do some moderating from the sidelines.  I read the threads while they were running hot, before they were adjusted.  There was blame on both sides, but there was an valid point Mathew made in that the "premium" domain names were not especially well used/valuable as they were being promoted.  The thread degenerated, but mostly was either on topic or slinging insults.

By the time vual was wanting to pay people for physical violence, it was too far gone.  Vual has also approached me for funds (I declined, I consider him too great a risk based on his behaviour).

Gone for three days - since last post.

Coins received, many thanks.

Sorry you had problems with the purchase you were doing.  Given those difficulties, and the fact you got in touch and repaid, I'd definitely recommend you to other lenders and happy to forgive the interest on this.

Patrick

(and a note to those other scum-bag borrowers, I'm still waiting)
1369  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: random trolls 0_o are they common here? on: February 04, 2012, 07:23:05 AM
wow just wow....

been in comunity for 3min and got randomly trolled.
I am rather in shock.
I am too. I kid you not, this is not a regular occurrence here, especially from our older members.

It's okay to be skeptical, it's not okay to outright troll people. Matthew crossed that line today.

I read the threads (more than one) before they were changed.  Mathew made some valid points and it blew up into some unnecessary shit fight that wasn't called for by vual.  Blame on both sides maybe, but it wasn't out and out trolling.
1370  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Join me in the biggest mining pool boycott Bitcoin has ever seen on: February 04, 2012, 07:16:46 AM
Quote
I mine at deepbit, don't belong to a team (can't see any point - this isn't boinc) and I don't particularly care about the mining programs or squeezing every last bit cent from my GPUs or software. Last time I went to the deepbit site I didn't care to look at any voting stuff (if there is any) - but it tells me my hash speed and earnings.

Perhaps you should take more interest in these issues then. The health of this decentralized network is important, and indeed it will affect you.

I have actually read a great deal on this issue, both the BIP changes, the issues the dev team is having, and the issue of centralisation.  Yes it will affect me while I am using bitcoin actively, but the detail and materiality may not.

I also find it unusual to receive pm's telling me I shouldn't mine on Deepbit, and the degree of "evil" associated with it.

So, I am at a pool that has 30% (it was higher), it meets my needs, and has someone who has a service that has attracted a lot of business.  However, there might be more centralisation in the dev team, but people are not dismantling that with such gusto.

Be aware that it's going to cost a heap to install and get electrically certified - I wouldn't expect this to be a "plug in" model.
1372  Other / Meta / Re: Ban SolidCoin on: February 04, 2012, 04:10:05 AM
How did you measure that because I would have guessed namecoin or LTC. I'm pretty sure name coin and LTC are "bigger" than ShitCoin but please tell me how I am wrong.

It's hard to take you serious when you are so intentionally offensive.

SolidCoin is the biggest "alt chain" or second biggest cryptochain (currently behind Bitcoin) because of the following :-

1) Number of nodes
2) Market cap.  2.8 million coins in circulation at $0.05 USD  ($140000)

I'm not sure what metrics you would use but if you want to compare some other chains in market cap

NMC: 2017300 coins * $0.028 = $56585
LTC: 3702750 coins * $0.0064 = $23697

So we are nearly 3 times bigger than namecoin and 6 times bigger than LiteCoin.

As an observation, with the change in block reward, the price is halved to $0.025/SC so being generous that halves the market cap.  I also observe that total bids are just $450 and 265 BTC on BTC-e.
1373  Other / Off-topic / Re: Punishment for Matthew N.Wright on: February 04, 2012, 04:01:30 AM
Rather than sully my post in "that other" thread, it's amazing they (V) jumped in without looking.  His first few posts were reasonable, but it is now 90% building their post count slamming Mathew.  Attracting attention on one of the top board members (either fuckwit or awesome guy) so early must be some kind of record.  Could we invite Randy and Phinnes as well?  Perhaps we should bid Solidcoins for the domains instead.
1374  Economy / Lending / Re: 13 BTC loan, will repay 14.5 BTC on: February 03, 2012, 11:27:49 PM
Out of curiosity, how many loans do you have at the moment - it's a few (at least three).
1375  Economy / Lending / Re: [Found] Looking for 28 bitcoin loan on: February 02, 2012, 02:32:07 AM
And before any others jump in with silly "witless" comments, I confirm the terms are as set out.

what about silly comments after the show?
I'd love to post 2 questions

1) why a high interest loan in the first place? 2 % a day seems to be much by any standard. even for high risk transactions it looks like usury (from far away where I observe it).
2) what was his story? gambling?

Happy to answer your questions mila:

The original quote was to discourage a spate of pointless posting activity that didn't add to the content of the thread.

When doing this loan it was apparent that it would cover the other two or three loans that he had outstanding, but not more.  That was something I was prepared to fund.  It was 2%/day and the rate was one that was suggested and agreed (it was only 5 coins of interest) and there are other loans out there that are similar.  Usury perhaps, but in context of the volatility and risks, it is about right just at the moment.

What annoyed me, and annoyed INAU even more was after he got my coins he got more from INAU and didn't pay back the other lenders.  At that stage it was a bad loan.  I definitely would not have loaned if I suspected he was going to scam extra coin from someone else.  His posts to sell stuff did not do much good either.

I don't know if kuJoking7 was a "hardened" scammer having netted a big $100 of coin from me, just an idiot or something else.

1376  Economy / Speculation / Re: If a double ramp happens, we could see $8 tomorrow. on: February 02, 2012, 01:30:23 AM
Quick - I'll sell you some at 7.20 so you can make a killing at 8.
1377  Economy / Lending / Re: 8.2 BTC LOAN on: February 02, 2012, 12:35:55 AM
I'll wait until the first loan is done before doubling up.
1378  Economy / Economics / Re: Can't send Dwolla to Cryptoxchange through Bitinstant? on: February 02, 2012, 12:06:09 AM
Maybe it's in the wrong place, but there are 4000 cheap coin sitting for an hour+ that could be plundered.
1379  Economy / Long-term offers / Re: Starfish BCB - Loans and Lending on: February 01, 2012, 07:34:53 PM

What I see is someone wanting someone else to pay for their concert tickets.  Potentially a good idea, but this isn't the place to ask for funds.
1380  Economy / Lending / Re: [Found] Looking for 28 bitcoin loan on: February 01, 2012, 07:33:09 PM
As if it needed stating - the loan has not been repaid.
