1361  Other / Off-topic / Re: Why would customers use Bitcoins? on: September 11, 2016, 12:48:38 PM
I think bitcoin gives people opportunity  to make some good money  in the long run, and also in the  short term. As the price keeps on  fluctuating , the amount that you hold  now can be doubled in the next few years ,  no other currency provides this possibility.

Exactly, and the best thing about it is that you can earn it in different ways if you multiply your source of earning then it will also multiply your outcome in terms of bitcoins.

That is going to convince customers if you are going to explain that bitcoin is going to be a good source of income and there's a lot of opportunities to get it. And once they are already using it, they are also going to experience the convenience of using it. Because it is just going to take few minutes just to get confirmed for every transactions.

i don't think customers are looking for a source of income when they think about using or not using bitcoin as payment.

the things that are important are the security of bitcoin when using it and the most important of all is the fee which is so low it makes it a lot more profitable to use bitcoin.

1363  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: How do I grow my btc? on: September 10, 2016, 01:53:08 PM
I would suggest that you continue on trading. For me it  is the most safe way to grow bitcoin rather than  investing it at HYIP's because most of them are scam but not all, others will last for month but will be eventually  become a scam. Or gambling it because we all know  that no one gets rich from gambling.

this is a completely wrong way of thinking that "most" of them are scam. instead you should know that "all" of them are scams. they are clear scams from the start and they don't suddenly turn into one. so you should stay away from them unless you want to take a very huge risk. then again for taking risks you can gamble instead on a fair place which don't rip you off.
1364  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How greedy you are ? on: September 10, 2016, 01:49:10 PM
I can say that living with my daily life i am really not the type of person who are too greedy. I can always share something that i have much to other people but lol when it comes too gambling things are different
People really want money and no one cannot say that they don't want it right? because we need money all the time, when we eat, when we go to work, when we wanted to watch movie. Right? Money is always there. And I think there are just people that have a percentage of being greedy.

we all are greedy but it is not becasue we "need" money for eating or spending and all that you said. it is because greed is in our nature.

you can always see rich people who don't need money because they have far more than enough still being greedy.
1365  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: If you want to become Rich you need to Put Higher bets on: September 10, 2016, 01:45:27 PM
Is it really true that if someone want to earn big from gambling he need to make a higher bets? Yes he can also loose but if he is lucky enough he can earn big amounts too. People can not make profits with lower bet amounts like .05 etc. you need a higher amounts bets.

Haha Bet higher so that you will loose a lot! Cheesy 2 scenario but you will keep loosing if you bet big! But if you really want to loose then bet big ! For me it is pretty okay to bet low but it surely win! I dont care how much or how long as long as i win Cheesy

That is true higher bet mean we have to put on risk high amount, but if we place bet on higher odds than we have chance to make huge profit with low stake of amount, but luck is very important is all kind of betting.
It is good when you bet big amount if you have a good bankroll. But for me betting big amount is not good because you can lose in a short time and you can lose also double of your bet.

it is all about how much you want to risk.
in fact i believe that gambling is only all about managing this risks while handling your bankroll, so if you have a huge bankroll and if you are willing to take bigger risks then it is obvious that you can also win big amounts also.
for normal amount of bankrolls we all have to stick with smaller bets and smaller risks
1366  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin rising to 600$ , pure manipulation ? on: September 10, 2016, 01:38:42 PM
12 hours ago (before I go to sleep) , the price was something like 575$ If I remember right , I woke up and found it 600$ (using preev.com rates) .
What could cause this price increase ? I checked some news websites and I couldn't find any obvious reasons , the only thing I read and I found interesting is Bitfinex paying their customers back from the HACK but I'm pretty sure It has nothing to do with the increase.
Why not? Bitfinex hack was main reason we had that price crash in the first placa. So it seems only logical than market will react positively at every sign of them recovering.

And if we apply you logic, then most bitcoin price shifts is caused by 'pure manipulation' as speculation is the nature of the game with every crypto.

Ya it is true but when the bitfinex hack news came the crash was $150 difference if i am not wrong, and now when the news came of they are paying back , then the price should be around above $675+ but right now the price is only $632 so i think their is no connection between this news and the price increase.

As per my view it may be like some big players are started to buy so that may be the price increase rate.

No matter what reason on the price increase of bitcoin its still a good thing to us since we like it that the price increases which really give us good profits. Maybe those news that bitfinex pay their investors  somewhat affect on the price because  for sure those investors of that site bought bitcoin.

the price was supposed to come back at some point and now it is the time especially since all those good traders have sold their coins on top and bought back so much more at the bottom when the price took a hit now everybody is a lot more richer and watiting for the bigger rises.
1367  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How a scammer stole 500$ from me and in the end begged me not to tell his parent on: September 10, 2016, 01:34:28 PM
Some of this story happened in this very forum! Won't tell you usernames though

https://blog.haschek.at/2016/how-a-scammer-stole-500-dollars-from-me

i think in a couple of years we are going to see kinds who are still in a diper scam others on the internet and see it on the news that they have caught a big scammer and cops are storing him out towards the prison Cheesy
1368  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: At what price did you get your first BTC? Bought or Mined. Are you ahead? POLL. on: September 10, 2016, 01:30:54 PM
i am one of those who has bought bitcoin in the range of $200 and $400 it was a very long period of time and we all had enough chance to buy it when it was cheap so i did and now i am happy with it.
1369  Other / Off-topic / Re: Would You Choose $50K Value Paid as Bitcoin, Gold or New Corvette on: September 09, 2016, 04:33:13 PM
Were $50,000 to drop into my lap I would buy a 1 kilo gold bar (for some $44,000):
https://www.providentmetals.com/catalogsearch/result/?q=1+kilo+gold+bar%2C+elemetal
or perhaps the Republic Metals 1 kg bar (comes with a cool-looking plastic card "linked" to the bar).  Take a look:
http://www.republicmetalscorp.com/rmc-1kg-au-bar/
That would leave $6000 or so for Bitcoin.

if we could choose multiple choices we would have all (or at least 90% of us) chosen bitcoin+gold for sure.
but OP is saying you can only choose one of these things so that $6000 leftover should also be in gold for you.

but i would choose bitcoin with my eyes closes as it has a lot mroe potential of growing and giving me more profit.
1370  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Where to Invest BTC? on: September 09, 2016, 04:29:53 PM
from all the suggestions that we always see on these types of topics asking for investment advice i only like one one the methods and that is always investing in altcoin trading. it is hard to begin but it is very profitable and easy to continue doing.

1373  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin as a gift for a baby? on: September 08, 2016, 05:10:37 AM
Serious question.  My baby niece will be 1 year old in a few weeks and she's going to get lots of lovely and expensive presents from all the family, but I'm her geeky aunt and I want to encourage her geeky side.  I'm considering making her a vanity address , printing it on a paper wallet and funding it with some bitcoin, in the hope that by the time she's old enough to appreciate it, the value might have appreciated also.  But I have some concerns...

Is a vanity address sufficiently secure if I generate it and the paper wallet offline and assume my computer has no malware?  (I have enough antivirus/anti-malware software in action and really, if I do have that level of malware, I'm screwed anyway)

And the impossible question... is bitcoin a reasonable risk for such a long term investment?  If she's 1 now, it could be 15 years before she accesses the funds in that wallet.  I won't be able to sell out if I see a crash coming like I can with my own.  I know nobody can really judge what Bitcoin is going to do over that period and I don't want this to turn into yet another one of those speculation threads where people post crap.  So I guess my real question here is has anybody else done this or put bitcoin in cold storage for a similarly long period?

And are there any other considerations I haven't thought of?

this is a great idea and i might do it in the future too.

you only have to make sure to generate the wallet properly. so i guess your best option is on a live linux without any kind of internet connection. and also i think it is better to make a regular address rather than a vanity although that is still secure too.

it is a good idea because i am tired of only seeing gambling sites and bad exchanges advertise on this forum.
there is a lot more to bitcoin and the shops that accept bitcoin should tell us about their business now.

Generally, I don't click these kinds of links before I analyze them. Here's the Virustotal scan.

This story is as legit as the giveaway was. You ended up being a fraud as suspected (regardless of whether we assume that this article is correct or not).

Lol why would you be paranoid of such a link? The link is hosted in vice.com, how is such a link going to pose any realistic treat unless vice.com itself was compromised which is very unlikely?

fwiw i dont click links in general either, i am super paranoid of anything.  If i had a higher technical knowledge then i would trust myself more.  One thing for sure the last time i got hacked for anything was back in 2008.

sorry to be a bit off topic here but you really don't need to be paranoid or a teck savy to figure things out as long as you have access to google:
https://www.google.com/search?q=can+you+get+a+virus+from+just+visiting+a+website

and the short answer is YES.
1378  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Coins Worth Holding... on: August 06, 2016, 01:14:57 PM
Whether you mine the coins or you buy them now, according to you which of the Alt coins is worth holding and sell them after a minimum of 2 months?

the best coin to hold is bitcoin and you should hodl it for a much longer time than just 2 months.

but as for altcoins the promissing altcoins to hold for long time are LTC, LSK and two more that i will not name now becasue i am still investigating.

and if you want to trade for short term buy and sell 2-3 days then both etherum coins are good.
1379  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Where do exchanges get their Bitcoin? on: August 06, 2016, 01:09:12 PM
I'm sure that the owners of the company had to buildup a large bitcoin balance before they could start selling. They probably borrowed funds for the business. Now they can sell and buy since they have a lot of customers.

you start with an initial investment for your starting money just like any other business. the starting money is usually either from them buying from others, even from other exchanges or asking people to come and become partners by investing in them.

then you start advertising and over time as people come to your exchange and did business there you gather the fees.
1380  Other / Off-topic / Re: If i give you 10 BTC what will you do? on: August 06, 2016, 01:05:09 PM
if i get 10 btc then i will start trading with 1-3 btc and rest of btc will remain in my separate wallet for the wait of increase in price and then sell .
i think you can invest more in trade cause this time the price are getting low... incase if this remain for long time then the amount in trade will help to increase you BTC,so you need to invest more in trade

Do good homework before you get into trading business as its not easy to make profits from it if you have lack of knowledge related to market trends.

or you can just follow the hype around in the altcoin market and when the hype is just starting you can get in like the situation that these days is going on with ethereum classic. you can surely catch the pump before it happens this way.
