"Payment history" pages prove nothing. Anyone can create an address and send some coins to it and post it as "proof of payment" Unless a trusted member (who can prove they are not a shill for the site) can confirm they own that address, how do you trust the payment?

If I had more money I would be investing in Bitcoin right now. Most of the drop is because of the Bitfinex hack. If a bank gets robbed, and a truck of gold bricks gets stolen, does it mean gold is worth less? No. It means the bank was not secure. The exchanges are vulnerable, not the underlying technology behind Bitcoin. If you were smart and had a lot of money you would be buying right now.

Wow take a couple days vacation and come back to some real drama! Millions stolen, the price of BTC in the tank! What a wild week lol.

They could just be trying to write some debt off their books before going into bankruptcy. Does anyone think a business can recover after a loss like this? I've been away for a few days and missed most of the drama. Wern't they wiped out completely? If they had their reserves emptied I would be surprised if they were able to keep the doors open more than another month or two.

Are you talking about posting to meet someone in person to exchange cash for coins? If you do, I would be very careful about where you meet. People get killed over an Xbox on Craigslist all the time. I would rather use one of the exchanges or sell them here on the forum than put myself at risk of meeting a stranger in person.

What services are you using to set buy prices? I've looked at some exchanges but I've been hesitant to set any automated buy price because I'm new to trading. I've done some things manually but nothing automated at this point.

Yes Bitcoin and all cryptocurrencies are still so new. There will be wild swings depending on things like media coverage, buying and selling by large investors/ panic buys and sells when you have some price change. This is still the wild west, the gold rush in California where people can make or lose a fortune.

In the United States, some police stations have a special meeting area set up for people who sell items online, eBay etc to meet at the police station. Its a secure area with cameras and the police know people are meeting there to buy and sell goods. If I was going to sell $28,000 worth of BTC I would want to meet in a place like this.

...panic short if 610$ support breaks, because it drops to 480$. Well, boys, here we are at $550. Glad I watched this thread because I made a couple purchases just as coins got to about $625. (I had a feeling you guys were right and they would drop lower.) Hopefully we don't have a great financial crash with people jumping off tall buildings because they put their entire life savings into BTC and it went belly up.

Yeah man if you want to sell some coins for $480 each hit me up! LOL I do wonder how the price dropping so much will have an effect on miners right after the new gen of hardware came out (S9)... and how much these big companies, with their new gear are able to influence price. Its a going to be a very interesting 4th quarter at least!

Yeah but it only takes one and you lose all your money. An exchange could get hacked, or some government finds out they were helping with illegal activities and shuts them down, many things can happen.
Unless they are in a wallet that only you have the keys to you need to be careful.

Yeah 2800 rejected seems really high. All the settings on all the machines are the same as the ones getting 36 rejected? What pools are those other miners pointing at?

Does any other USB stick work in your computer? Does that stick work anywhere else?
You said it worked before on a Windows 7 machine. Did you ever format this USB stick to run on a Mac computer? OSX uses HFS+ file system and isn't readable by Windows. Or was it still on NTFS/ FAT etc...
Have you tried viewing it in Disk Management console? This gives you more info about the discs attached to your PC. Just search for diskmgmt.msc see if it shows up there.

Yep. I've seen people state that if it drops to $610 the bottom will fall out and could go as low as $450. Even if it does drop so low, I'm sure it will go back, its just a question of how long will it take?

Most of the sites are behind an anti-ddos service like Cloudflare, so it can be hard to determine where they are and their actual IP address. Take for instance https://www.bitdice.me/If you look up their IP you get 104.20.15.186 which is a Cloudflare server in the US. If you do a gambling website you will need a decent amount of storage and a server that can handle a ton of bandwidth per month.

OK it took a couple hours but it got confirmed. I appreciate your guys help and have a couple quick questions- 1. what determines the size of a transaction? Wouldn't most transactions be the same amount of bytes? The only thing I can think that would change the size would be sending to multiple addresses. 2. what method do you use to determine fees? I've seen some websites that do some calculation but I was pretty confused after reading them lol. Appreciate the help I get in forum, you guys are all so amazing!

Sent some coins from my Electrum wallet and for some reason Dynamic fee with 75% multiplier so 0.00038989 BTC/kb was the fee. It sent 0.0008851 fee for the transaction and its been about an hour with no confirmation. I think this fee is way too low? What are my chances of this getting confirmed and what are my next steps if it doesn't show up by say, tomorrow morning? Secondly, what should I set the fee to in my Electrum wallet? It seems a little silly to let people send something with a fee that won't get your transaction confirmed...

I've read lost of people saying beware if BTC gets to the $610-620 point. Getting nervous here boys. Are we going to lose a ton of value in the next couple days? Movement seems slow and now a big drop in price in just a day or two...

99% of people talking in a shoutbox are just trying to get you to buy some coin they are pumping. Most people aren't going to give away tips to random strangers on the internet. Maybe you can pick up some good info if you watch people talk long enough, but you could probably spend your time better elsewhere.

I've seen some people selling cards for MUCH lower than the loaded value- $4 for a $20 card, so they must be closing the cards quickly and you probably risk losing the gift card often, otherwise I don't think the prices would be so low.
