1381  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Anyone living with older people? on: January 28, 2023, 03:11:52 PM
See I have this problem, I am living with older people since I lost my parents at a very young age and I get so attached with crypto and I am making money out of it but the problem is my grandfather and uncles do not understand what Bitcoin is all about, believe me, I've tried to explain but they just won't get it. What can I do? They kind of believe that I am wasting my time.

How do one educate the illiterate about digital currency?

There are two ways to go from here.

1. Try to make them understand what you do.
2. Don't let them know what you do.

With the second option you won't have to go through the hassle of making them understand what you do.
Besides that you won't have to worry about the fact that they might tell others what you do.
You can simply say you work remotely as a freelancer and not explain the stuff you do.

With the first option you will have try to make them understand about bitcoin in Layman's terms.
You can also search online on how to teach bitcoin to children which will give you a better understanding on how to teach your grandparents about bitcoin.
The negative side is that the more people know you deal with bitcoin the more risk you attract towards your self.

If you still decide to teach them then you can refer these https://duckduckgo.com/?q=bitcoin+for+children&t=ffab&atb=v274-1&ia=web

What are everyone's thoughts towards my approach of conducting a final raffle?

That would be a good idea but the issue of no engaging posts would still remain. Still you can proceed with the raffle to end it once and for all.
May be if we our local board is very active in future again may be then we can restart the raffle at that point of time.

What are everyone's thoughts towards my approach of conducting a final raffle?

I am pretty much excited with your approach of conducting a final raffle. I used to wait for it in the past. Yes, I agree a lot of members have shifted to Telegram & Reddit but those who are here need to be active from time to time. I do not think that we do not have anything or any news to discuss on this board. A little bit of encouragement by senior members and Merit sources can again bring back members here.

You are right. Even I had been looking out on this board every now and then to see if there's any engagement but there was none.
Eventually everyone stopped posting I guess may be due to the low engagement.
I agree with you that not having any topics to discuss is not correct. We can keep discussing new topics since the crypto community is filled with tech.
The major problem according to me is that since there is not much engagement on the posts and not enough activity one would eventually lose interest in making new topics.
1383  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: If you don't get the merit, the ranking won't go up? on: January 28, 2023, 02:34:00 PM
Yes.

You can read in this thread where you must have both activity and merit if you want to rank up Merit & new rank requirements.

It doesn't like in the past before 2018 where you can rank up if you only have activity, merit is a way to prevent from spammers and low quality post users. So if you don't get any merit, it mean you're a shitposter.

This is not true. Many sections have Merit-sources who do not hand out merits properly IMO. Just learn, read, and post what you can. Merits come with Knowledge and trust. Wink

Exactly. Just because one does not have enough merits doesn't necessarily mean he is a shit poster.
There are boards in this forum where there are not enough merit sources and not enough engagement.
Also, different people have different perspective and while one may like a post the other might not.
There can be reasons why a good post might not get any merit at all.
But I would say that we should make posts to get and give knowledge and focus less on the merits.
If a person will run behind merits then he will find it even harder to get them.
Just focus on the tech and keep making knowledgeable posts will easily get you enough merits to rank up.
1384  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Medical student wins lottery 5 times after embezzling graduation funds on: January 28, 2023, 02:18:49 PM
A brazilian medicine college student diverted almost 200.000$ from the graduation comission's funds, which belonged to her whole class, to place high bets through the national lottery.

She won sometimes on short run, but after all, faced a huge loss and went into almost 40.000$ debt. After scamming the lottery, the police department was triggered and the investigation has started.

She was investigated for money laundering and embezzlement. Later on, it was discovered the funds' origin.

Meanwhile, the class students became suspicious about the situation after the woman told on her class Whatsapp's group funds raised for graduation were lost after she invested it in a brokerage firm and was scammed by it, but no further documents and evidences could be provided, because everything was robbed!

Since then, no more updates about the case have been shared on the news. It happened about 2 weeks ago.

Medical student wins lottery 5 times after embezzling graduation funds

It's a shame on her that she used her classmates' money to gamble and lost it.
Just think how hard they must be earning the money and paying for the graduation fees.
How can she even think of betraying her classmates and their emotions and especially their studies.
I hope the police takes strict action against her and makes her pay all the funds lost.
She must be imprisoned and pay for her mistakes.

I have a question about maximum number of WOFs which you may buy for RPs. Does that number changes every day?
Yesterday I was wagering quite a lot taking into account x5 Promo and I have seen that as usually I am able to buy only 1 WOF, yesterday it was 2 WOFs. But today it is 1 WOF again. Does that number depend on daily wagering?

Yes you are right. It does keep changing daily based on wagering you have done by playing multiply BTC or betting on events.
It's already mentioned on their exchange RP for WoF popup. The more you wager the more you can exchange.
The upper cap is set to a maximum of 100 WoF spins.

1386  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Has someone tried to use ChatGPT to help in trading? on: January 27, 2023, 04:39:25 PM
I see a lot of people are using ChatGPT for various reasons and with that there are now so many videos how it can help it with writing trading scripts etc. Has someone tried it until now?

It's just an AI bot and I don't think at this point of time it is efficient enough to be used for trading.
Trading requires knowledge, skills and experience. Even then there are many who keep making losses.
Although we can try ChatGPT for experimental purposes but using it for trading would be a bad idea.
1387  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Source Of funds on HitBTC on: January 27, 2023, 04:37:11 PM
Hello all, tell me what documents are required HitBTC?
I sent - withdrawal of cash in a few days then depositing cryptocurrency, crediting wages.
I'm trying to get through to support, but no results - they just do not say what exactly they need.
Maybe someone on the forum has dealt with this?

Kindly note that we have thoroughly checked all the information you've provided, and, unfortunately, it can't be accepted as a valid source of funds report. We will not be able to proceed any further until the actual source of funds of the transaction in question is provided.

Please provide us with an actual source of funds, and we'll be happy to proceed.

I wonder why you used HitBTC at first place. At least you could have gone through the reviews before making any deposits there.
HitBTC has had issues in the past with users getting their accounts frozen and hence their funds lost.
There are other established exchanges that you could have used. All you can do now is try contacting them through different means such as customer support, social media handles, email etc...
Once you get are in contact with them ask them what do they need to get you the access to your account.

It's really appreciable what you have done for the community. It takes courage, willingness and determination to perform such an act of kindness.
Not only you have gained massive respect but also you have gained blessings from all those people you are helping.
This is what it counts to be a good man. Thanks for your great efforts.
1389  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Cheat the Lottery Winner on: January 27, 2023, 04:14:32 PM
Another example of why we should not trust even our blood relative when it comes to dealing with financial matters.
Money is something which can turn a brother against brother. This is why I tend to handle all my money related matters myself.
It can be anything but we should practice to do all things by ourselves.

Yeah, the most cruel and greedy thing was his cousin deduct a tax on the small money that she gave just to show it as legit winnings because tax applied. I believe Argueta decided to return the money after the real winner give a threat to him because a simple case that will subpoena his bank account details will be caught her and enough to face jail time.

Theres no way to become anonymous on claiming lottery prize since anyone in the lottery board can tract all the connection of the cousins to get the info of real winner if theres really someone who will be interested on the prize money.

Yes ofcourse, there's no way Argueta could have escaped from this situation easily.
As mentioned earlier, she was caught as the winning amount was found in her bank account.
It was then transferred to the winner as she made a police complaint.
Argueta should have known that she would be caught if she commits such a mistake.
1390  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I started instilling a bitcoin saving system on: January 25, 2023, 04:10:21 PM
From what I get after reading your post is that you have some savings in your bank account and you are investing some of it into bitcoin.
That's a good sign and one step closer to financial freedom but you will have to learn more about finance and investments.
It's good that you are on this forum and trying to engage with the community. Just keep doing the same.
Keep learning more everyday and keep asking questions on self improving financially.
1391  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: It's a good idea to just register on casino on: January 25, 2023, 04:03:11 PM
There is this thing about shopping and airlines that when you check and forget, they send you bonus or discount for your possible shopping/trip. Same holds true for casinos, if you just register and leave they will send you some bonus to get you started playing.

LMAO. I have tried it on few sites and I must say it works to some extent.
The casino site may or may not send you bonuses and it completely depends on them.
Even if they do send the bonuses it will be only for a limited time.
After few weeks you might not receive any bonus and your account will just stay idle.
1392  Other / Off-topic / Re: White Card entered in Football !!! on: January 25, 2023, 04:00:13 PM
Football fans across the world will be familiar with yellow and red cards that are brandished by referees.
They were introduced over 50 years ago in the 1970 World Cup for fouls and disruption of the game.
But history was made on Saturday 21st January as the first white card in football was shown by a match official in Portugal.
It was shown during a clash between Sporting Lisbon and Benfica women's teams in the women's Portuguese league cup, in which Benfica won 5-0.

What is a white card?
The card was introduced by Portuguese authorities as part of a new initiative to encourage teams to act in a sporting manner and get immediate positive recognition.
It can be shown to anyone who is involved in fair play and is designed to improve the ethics in the sport.
Why was it shown?
The card was shown just before half-time to medical staff from both sides after they rushed to the aid of a fan who felt unwell in the stands.
As the card was shown to the medical staff, the crowd stood on the their feet to applaud the medics as they walked back to the dugout.          source

As football is one of the most popular games in sports gambling and its updates are very important for gambling. Many times the result of the match changes on the basis of yellow and red cards, so in football  cards showing  is important and also for gambling. The main purpose of opening this topic is to get familiar with white cards.

Wow, this is such a nice gesture. White defines positivity and it makes sense to show this card for the act of kindness.
Although the white card doesn't impact any gameplay but it shows how good one can really be.
But do you think it would really be added to the football standards ?

1394  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Common Online Gambling Fraud on: January 25, 2023, 03:38:59 PM
It's a nice thread to spread awareness about various gambling related frauds.
Although I knew most of them but this is the first time I have heard about collusion.
Since I don't play any card related games I guess that is why I wouldn't have come across it yet.
It's good to know people are aware about it but is there any solution to it ?
1395  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: First thing i will do if Bitcoin become legal tender globally on: January 24, 2023, 04:07:58 PM
WHAT IS THE FIRST THING YOU WILL DO IF BITCOIN BECOMES GLOBALLY ACCEPTED JUST LIKE THE INTERNET?
For me I will open my Bitcoin mining farm that will be public with a website and registered under the law for clients that will want third-party services that will align with global best practices of cryptography and digital asset management.

Open a mining farm ? Do you know how much time, effort and investment it costs to open a mining farm ?
May be you have more than enough money for that but you will still have to put in the time and effort.
If bitcoin becomes a globally accepted legal tender then it would open doors for cross border business opportunities.
So the possibilities are endless. I haven't thought it through but I would certainly end up opening a business for myself using bitcoin.
1396  Economy / Gambling / Re: Positive Gambling Quotes for 2023! on: January 24, 2023, 03:56:09 PM
Oh this is a nice thread. My favorite quote which can be relatable to gambling is below.

Quote
Guess you lose some & win some, long as the outcome is income. Drake

Another one, which is a famous dialogue of a famous movie in my country.

Quote
Kabhi kabhi jeetne ke liye kuch haarna bhi padta hai ... aur haar kar jeetne waale ko baazigar kehte hai  Shahrukh khan

this translates to

Quote
Sometimes we have to lose inorder to win and the person who wins by losing is the real player Shahrukh khan
1397  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Too accessible of online casino grows addiction faster? on: January 24, 2023, 03:39:16 PM
I have a discussion with a close relative about online gambling and he said something that about how he hate gambling online because it's too addictive, he claimed real life casinos are better and less addictive because he will have to drive down to Las Vegas to gamble or drive down to a local casino and this still takes some physical effort and it discourages many people from frequenting gambling.

He said with online gambling it's available on through mobile phones and you can play at any time, this means no shortage of gambling around the clock and no shortage of losing money as well, you can easily pull out your phone and gamble with any free time, a bit compulsive and too accessible.

What do you think about this claim? Is he right or wrong?

I agree with him completely. The ease of convenience online gambling has provided has encouraged many to start gambling from their home.
We all know how addictive gambling can be. But if the same person has to drive down to a gambling casino then there are chances that he might reconsider his choice.
But at the same time it also depends on one's will and patience to control himself from gambling.
If a person has good self control then he might not get into an addiction at first place.
1398  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: i am a housewife want to invest in bitcoin on: January 23, 2023, 04:15:37 PM
hello everyone,, I am a housewife who wants to join this forum and ask for your help, so that you can guide and advise me, especially in terms of investing in bitcoin.

as I said above that I am a housewife. and I plan to invest in bitcoin.
and I want to invest in bitcoin using the money in my piggy bank, because if I have money left over from shopping that my husband gives me, I always put it in my piggy bank.

but what makes me want to invest in bitcoin is because,, if you put it in a piggy bank for a long time I think it will be affected by inflation.
so in my opinion if my invest in bitcoin, of course it will have good potential for the future. but I will ask everyone,

is it too late to invest in bitcoin?
because I saw on the internet that bitcoin is currently experiencing an increase.

and whether my decision is right or not, to invest in bitcoin?

please guide for all the friends in this forum?

One thing that I would like to say is if you are thinking of investing money from your savings then you should first decide on the amount that you would want to invest in bitcoin.
So your question would be how much % from your savings should you invest in bitcoin.
If I were at your place then I would not invest more than 30% - 40% in bitcoin because as a housewife you should keep some money in spare.
We don't know when an emergency comes and so you would need to have some backup by saving some money into the emergency fund as well.
Also, keep a little portion of savings for miscellaneous expenses as well and then you can use the rest for investments.
Try to diversify by investing in bitcoin as well as other assets like stocks and bonds.
1399  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: A curious funny thought of the day on: January 23, 2023, 04:06:55 PM
Assuming in the future time many countries have fully embraced crypto adoption and in fact, many countries are using the country fund to invest in Bitcoin just like what El Salvador is doing right now and something bad starts happening to the wallet they store their fund?

~snip
Imagine a hacker stealing Bitcoin that belongs to a country, how do you think the situation will be handled?

Do not take this too seriously as it's just a fun thought, since this has nothing to do with Banks I am just thinking about how they will handle the situation, launch a red alert or something. Go after the hacker big time with all they have? Or use the Centralised power on the exchange?

Firstly, if it is a whole country's funds then why would they store in just a single wallet.
Ideally they should diversify and store the funds in multiple wallets.
Besides that they should also use multi sig authority to prevent any loss/manipulation of funds.
Keeping the keys secure is the most basic thing which anyone do.
The chances of being hacked after all these implementations are slim but if the wallets still get hacked then there's nothing besides tracking them to the core.

Feeling happy today since I received a mail that my WoF per day spin has increased by 1. So starting today I will get a total of 5 WoF spins  Grin

Also, as mentioned earlier, I waited for the last moment to see any sudden price fluctuations and I have just now placed my bets.
This is the first time that I have placed bets on both BTC and ETH prices whereas earlier I used to place bet on one of the coins.
