661  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Seeking Passive income offer with low risk on: September 11, 2023, 04:07:38 PM
This is the longest bear market I've ever witnessed, and I've been in the crypto space for about 4 years now. I've blown my trading accounts many times and have taken numerous risk management courses in preparation for the bull market. I'm tired of waiting, and I don't have the mental fortitude to keep trading, haha. This brings me to why I'm writing this...

I've been searching for an opportunity that will enable me to earn extra income to keep me afloat in anticipation of the bull run, but I've always hit a roadblock due to several reasons like low APYs, dicey processes, and high risk, etc. I'm more conservative with finances, so I would appreciate any suggestions on a passive income offer or product with low risk. Preferably, my capital would be protected, and the potential for growth would work well for me.

You can generate passive income with DeFi, lending, staking, locking your funds etc... but you must know that all of it contains risks.
APY will obviously not be more in these type of incomes but you can expect around 5% - 8% depending on various factors.
It depends on you which one you would prefer. You will have to explore more.
662  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Why gambling beginners must not joke with casino announcement on: September 11, 2023, 03:58:57 PM
Yeah, that is one benefit of staying active on the forum. At least we get to know which casinos to try out and have a good reputation.
Although a casino site being on bitcointalk does not automatically means that they are genuine but over time they gain their reputation.
A good ANN thread shows that the casino site is serious with their site and this gives their users a positive impact about their reputation.

Yeah that's true because many casino which were also advertised here all turned out to be scam casino and the most annoying part is that they all started up very good so I guess when it's comes to new casino we all have to be very careful and not make any mistake by rushing to deposit  money into these casino because you might end up being scammed and regretting your actions that's if the funds is big.
It is very important for us to know how we use new casinos because there are a lot of bugs users experience which can frustrate newbies and make them think that all casinos do have the same problem.

Not all casinos experience majority of these problems because they have been in the market for long and might adjusted there games and site in the way that will be user friendly without toouch complain. It's good for us to use a good casinos especially the ones that have good reputations so that we can avoid unnecessary challenges being a user.

Most of these issues are generally with the new casino sites. They tend to have many bugs because they are in a rush to launch their casino site and start making profits.
There are 2 major reasons not to deposit huge money in new casino sites. One is because they might end up scamming you.
The other is that they might get hacked since new sites more vulnerable to hacks. So it's better not to put huge money in new sites.
663  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Owner of 8K bitcoin lost in landfill threatens to bankrupt local council on: September 10, 2023, 02:01:17 PM
https://protos.com/owner-of-8k-bitcoin-lost-in-landfill-threatens-to-bankrupt-local-council/

I think him lashing out at the city council and threatening to sue them doesn't make bitcoin look good. wherever his hard drive is, if it's in that trash dump i don't see how even a data recovery expert could get anything off of it. it's probably been crushed, cracked, corroded, etc. lost cause. his big mistake was throwing it away in the first place but that was his fault no one elses. he lost those bitcoin a long time ago. and they're not coming back.  Shocked

I guess the guy is very desperate to recover his HDD from the landfill. The major concern here is that the council has already claimed that they are not sure if he would be able to find his HDD or not because it may or may not be there.
Even if he finds it out magically, there are very less chances that anyone would be able to recover his keys.
The amount is too huge to be lost but he should know that when he let his bitcoins go, he didn't value them.
So the Karma has kicked his butt. He didn't value his bitcoins back then and I guess this might be the reason why he won't be able to find his coins ever.
664  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Lump vs DCA with real data on: September 10, 2023, 01:49:00 PM
As far as lump sum investment is considered then I think it really depends on at what point of time you are investing.
The entry point really matters in this case because it decides the returns for our investment.
DCA is a better strategy because it gives us a good average price and we don't have to worry about what price we get in.
Arranging money for DCA is more convenient since the money is invested in regular time periods instead of investing a big amount in one go.

Price is wavering back and forth at the moment just on the edge of the base reward being one way or another.   I worked out if I buy wheel spins at the lower cost and realize the higher base reward after BTC price drops its a daily 2% yield on just that simple back and forth.  Definitely seems worth doing, though its only a small amount it happens so regularly I might as well use what I got as the opportunity presents itself.
BTC wont waver forever but its often doing this kind of behaviour, I'd still class it as underlying positive though it pulls back from its gains.

We talking or we buying? I’m already up with 1740+ wheel of fortune spins and I can’t wait for the base reward to increase and I end up spinnig all of them. I am also looking forward to spin them just right before Lamborghini prize draw happens. I want to spin at the last movement and hope to get some GT as well. Who knows I might just capture a ticket that is meant for winning.

Since it’s just a month left for that event to declare the winners I think it’s right time to go for it. Though I keep telling myself I am more or less RP and Sats fan, but since it’s close to GT event who isn’t excited?

You have 31 days left to spin your WoF spins and try your luck to get more GT tickets.
We know that it takes just 1 lucky GT ticket to win the lottery and am glad to be considered  Grin

Hi,

I want to ask about how if I giving football or other predictions in this forum. Is it allowed? No feelings. I don't have any purpose and just wanna share what I can.

I don't force anyone to use my prediction because it is just a sharing prediction with all of you.

Thank you.

It's a public forum and you can share your football predictions here but I wanted to ask you, do you bet on football predictions ?
If yes, then you can share the screenshots of your bets and create a track record of how you are performing.
That will show your progress which you can share here and may be if the progress is good then people will actually start using your predictions.

We live in a society where people have different views about something and these views could be drawn based on different constituent like personal sentiment, religion, ideology and experience.
Why should I stop doing what I enjoy just because of society's opinions? As long as it's not illegal, I don't need to hide what I do. Gambling is a part of society, and even our everyday lives involve risks, which are a form of gambling in a way. So, I don't see any reason to hide my activities just because of religion or belief.

That's about right. As long as it's not illegal there's nobody to stop us from doing it. Yet there are people who take it personally and start arguing with us.
As long as the thing we do is not harming ourselves, we should be good. But if it starts turning into a habit then that is where we need to stop.
We should know the boundary line and stay within it. People might talk shit about us but who cares as long as we are enjoying it.

669  Local / India / Re: Indian Stock Markets VS Bitcoin on: September 09, 2023, 02:32:45 PM
Oh yes I saw this as well. Infact I have had a lot of encounters with people who actually found a few lacs in their assets because their fathers and forefathers left some shares with them. Infact government has even opened a portal where you can check if you have any such shares on name of your father or grandparents etc. One problem this thing can't happen in bitcoin because there is no way to get the private key back once lost.

The problem of inheriting bitcoin is genuine but the workaround is there by creating a will that passes the coins to the heir.
But if the person has not created any will then surely the coins are lost if he hasn't created any backup for his family to find out.
I guess this is the importance of KYC documents and declaring our assets to the government.
May be after the regulations are set there will be an implementation for this as well.
670  Local / India / Re: Uber shines light on acceptance of bitcoin on: September 09, 2023, 02:09:26 PM
Uber can probably make it work in some countries but it's not at a great news for Bitcoin. It will make bitcoin more centralized and eventually big corporates will gain power to control the market. Not ideal.

I consider manipulation to be an inseparable part of markets (whether it be crypto or otherwise) and I see no negative in people/entities purchasing BTC — someone buys, someone sells. At one side we want adoption while at the same time we say no to companies who can bring more people in market.

Bigger pockets always influence the economy, there is no alternative.

Makes sense. If we want global adoption then big companies will surely have to get involved with crypto.
If big companies are getting involved with crypto they will make sure to stay in profits even if they have to manipulate the market.
I think this has been happening with almost every market. Big players usually know how the market will behave when they throw big money in the market.

Blackrock has applied for an ETF and there are rumors that the recent dump in BTC price was because Blackrock wanted to buy at a cheaper price.
Although we can't believe these rumors but from one perspective, Blackrock does have enough capital to manipulate the market.
671  Economy / Gambling / Re: Concept of Halal Casino on: September 08, 2023, 04:19:22 PM
/// but also an obvious attempt of trying to justify something that they should not be doing.

It's true that what is wrong should not be justified or distorted. I am not a Muslim, but I believe that the teachings from the church and the Bible have specific meanings and should not be interpreted differently. Not everyone is highly educated, which is why a straightforward interpretation can be easily understood. What would happen if actions that were originally declared as sins were justified as 'okay'? 'Okay' can be subjective and may not always align with what is right or wrong. I think there should be clear distinctions between right and wrong.

Very well said mate. The fact is that there are many people who portrays certain quotes from their religion and convey it's meaning in a different form.
They completely change the actual meaning behind the context of the quote and interpret wrong information for their own benefits.
As mentioned in the video in OP, one sin shouldn't be the gateway to other sins. People should educate themselves and understand what their religion truly convey.
Each religion has it's own beauty and beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder.
Religion and personal beliefs should be separrated from this activity. Most of the people here in this industry belongs to a religion and culture but why are we still here if the concept itself of gambling is in contrast with the teachings of a religion? Simply because we are not linking these two concepts and which is why words associated to a religion should not also be mentioned in any way especially for personal gain 'coz you are simply fooling yourself and making fun of other's tradition and culture. Let gambling be gambling, that's it and no other colors of polictics and religious beliefs.

For sure few people would only fall in this scheme. Also, they should be sensitive enough to know it in a single glance. Let us not make the inage of this industry worse.
I did make out some search if Gambling is really that allowed or prohibited on Muslims and turns out that it was indeed prohibited.

According to the Quran, Muslims are forbidden to gamble. However, there are casinos in countries where Islam is the predominant religion, and there are numerous other countries throughout the world with casinos that focus their marketing strategies on attracting gamers from Muslim-majority countries.Source link

Totally contradictory? It wasnt allowed but theres casinos that had been built out with those muslim countries? How about on havingthis halal casino which
there are really that exemptions on which muslims are allowed or able to play? Going against your religious beliefs then it would really be your own choice and since not all would really be that strictly be
following with those and with the easy access today then it is really just too easy to gamble.

It's nothing new. There are religions which prohibit doing certain things yet there are some people from the religion who still do it.
For example eating non-veg food is prohibited in a religion yet there are people who still eat it.
I guess same goes here too. Even though gambling is prohibited for Muslims yet there will be some people gambling.
672  Local / India / Re: India Pushes for Global Crypto Regulation Under Its G20 Presidency on: September 08, 2023, 04:10:09 PM
As per this article, a global Bitcoin & crypto regulation is in the making. The government of India under its G20 presidency will be presenting a synthesis paper by IMF & FSB India in the upcoming G20 meeting this weekend. Already there is a consensus on this subject. It is only waiting for its approval by the leaders.

In my opinion, if this framework gets approved anonymity and privacy would not be available for anyone dealing in cryptocurrency. Already the US is trying to pass a bill wherein all DEX will need to implement KYC norms for its users. I believe this is not going to go well among those who want to hide their identity from the government and be part of this revolution.

When approved the regulation framework around Bitcoin and cryptocurrency will be cross border and not subjected to only India. What do you guys think?

Although we are having the G20 meet tomorrow I don't think we will get clear set of regulations by tomorrow itself.
I think they will pass it to a future date or may be introduce few rules now and improvise it later. May be something like a trial phase.
Also, I think once those regulations are introduced, it will be followed by other countries too.
There will be people who won't like this because they prioritize privacy and anonymity over regulations.
But a major portion of the crypto community don't care about giving their KYC until it is handled carefully.
673  Local / India / Re: India or Bharat on: September 08, 2023, 03:56:32 PM
It was not us but the Britishers named India when it was a unified country. The name India is derived from the Indus civilization, which presently is held in the Punjab province of Pakistan. Another reason to change the name as it does not symbolize our country in any way. The Constitution of India, wherein Part 1 of Article 1 clearly mentions India that is Bharat. So technically our constitution allows both the names, India and Bharat to be used officially.

Yes, the G-20 invitation sent by the President did mention the President of Bharat. That does not mean that the name India will be dispensed officially. It is still unclear what is going to happen next. The government has called for a special session of Parliament and after it concludes we may know officially. At the moment there is suspense on this topic, indications are that the name change can happen. Personally, I think we should completely shed our colonial past by renaming our country as Bharat.

Using the name Bharat makes more sense since we are Bhartiya Nagrik. Bharat humara desh hai.
Have you heard the rumors that once India changes it's name to Bharat, Pakistan will claim that name.
They are saying that since Pakistan has the origin of Indus Civilization it has the right to change it's name to India.
If this really happens I am not sure how it's gonna be. It's really weird.
674  Local / India / Re: UPI ATM! Another achivement in Fintech by India on: September 08, 2023, 03:46:28 PM
You all will agree that the quantum of new tech emerging in our country (especially in Fintech) in the last decade has been unimaginable. Recently a new fintech UPI ATM has been launched. You can use any UPI payment processor like Paytm, phonepe or gpay to withdraw cash from a UPI ATM by only scanning the bar code dispayed on the ATM machine.

Banks were already providing similar service known as cardless cash withdrawal. The problem was that it can only done on that particular bank's ATM using the banking app. With UPI ATM you are able to withdraw cash from any banks saving account and you don't  need to use that particular bank's ATM.

Click here to read the article.
Click here to check the video.

Not only that but banks were also charging for cardless withdrawal from the customers.
I had paid 25rs for a cardless withdrawal the first time I used it and it was the last time.
I didn't know of the charges but it is very ridiculous. I have to pay the bank to withdraw my own money from my account, stupid as fuck.

It's good that we have this UPI ATM. I watched it's video few days back.
The main advantage is that we can scan the QR and withdraw cash from any of our bank accounts without the use of debit card.
RIP debit cards.
675  Local / India / Re: Indian Stock Markets VS Bitcoin on: September 08, 2023, 03:36:02 PM
Recently I came across an article that celebrated the Indian stock market's performance. It seems the Indian stock market has delivered a 10.9% return, which is higher than the US & China.

It is great news that the Indian economy is shining and growth has been straight upward in the last decade. As an Indian, it makes me proud when I recall where we were in 2013 to where we are now in 2023. Within that emotional outburst of pride in my mind, a strange question popped up, which was to compare the ROI both from Bitcoin and the Stock Market.

Let's do the math for the Indian Stock Market. If you had invested $100 ten years back with an ROI of 10.9%, your money would have become $235 approximately by now. Not bad considering not many bank FDs or mutual funds are able to generate such an ROI.

Now, let's do the math for Bitcoin. Again, the investment amount in this case would be $100. In August of 2013, the average price of Bitcoin was $135. Considering the price, you would have bought 0.74 Bitcoin. In August of 2023, the average price of Bitcoin was $27,297, which would result in your $100 investment growing to $20,200 ten years later. That is a 201 times return on your initial investment of $100 or, in simple words, a 20100% return.

Think again - which is better, Bitcoin or the Stock Market? If you are someone with diamond hands, then Bitcoin is the right investment. The potential for enormous growth and returns far exceeds traditional investments.

I don't think this comparison is fare because there are other shares in the stock market which has performed well.
Although it might not have exceeded the returns from bitcoin yet there are few shares which have given great returns when compared to other assets.
Besides that, bitcoin is relatively new and we cannot guarantee that in the next 10 years bitcoin will generate the same or more returns when compared to last 10 years.
I personally think as the price increases the returns will substantially decrease over time.

It is interesting to see how these gaming companies are using social media to their benefits.
Not only they are getting enough data but also personalized data which they can utilize to give a personalized gaming experience to their users.
Ads, promotions, bonuses, referrals etc... all becomes easy when social media is integrated.
Connectivity between users is beneficial for both the players as well as the gaming companies.

the journey of making money through Alts is full of thorns, stay safe out there.

It's not easy to make money in any category. We can say that making money with bitcoin is like climbing a mountain with stones.
We have to be patient and keep climbing and dodge the stones to reach the top.
We have to hold strong, keep holding while avoiding the minor dumps in between to reach a new all time high.

Some deceive newbies by telling in bitcoin they can easily earn money by just buying bitcoin or on investments they like to join. That's why there are times that newbies fell short especially when they invest on hyip or other scams in this industry. Its good to be realistic by teaching anyone about bitcoin so that they will not expect something huge without doing anything. Research is always important even if we buy bitcoin since its technicalities is also important matter than need to consider.

That is true. So many newbies have fall prey to these scams and lost millions collectively.
This is why forums like bitcointalk are a must for every newbie to enrich their knowledge in crypto.
I think every newbie should visit this forum and read posts in here at least for a few months to get basic knowledge of cryptocurrencies.
Although there are blogs, videos and tutorials for various crypto products but nothing provides as much knowledge as this forum.

It's true that many of the users aren't active on the site despite having an account.
Even I had previously forgot my email and password to freebitco.in account and had to create a new account.
I guess there will be many people with similar case and so the real active number of users will be far lesser than the number of accounts on the site.

I tried to find where I saw the story that some inactive accounts won the weekly lottery... it turns out that some "forgotten accounts" have active referrals that earn them sats, RPs, and of course lottery tickets. At least I remember that, but I can't remember when and where I read it.

Even I remember that conversation. It was said that the freebitco.in account had won the prize but never claimed it or used it.
I guess such accounts which are not utilizing their satoshis directly benefit freebitco.in since they don't have to pay it from their balance.
