Do you value individual turds at 0.05 BTC? If you do, then forks are indeed worth that much. If you don't, then they are worth zero.

I admit that I consider 0.05 BTC to be an significant amount.

Nobody is going to buy the coin to peel it right away, fork value added or not the user would peel at a loss.

If we fully play out this scene fully - You put up a Cas for sale and the premium is less than the value of the shit coin (either due to low premium or high value of shitcoins), then is not unrealistic that a buyer would purchase the coin solely to peel it right away.

All these forks ever were used (in this part of the ecosystem) was to inflate second-hand sell prices of Casascius in a desperate attempt to delay the premium from converging towards ~0. When all forks were somewhat valued (i.e. premium reaching >10-15%) it made some sense due to low premiums at the time. Now it's just a joke.

When BTC rate goes up, some casascius owners will be tempted to peel the coins and redeem the BTC and the shit coins that comes alone.
It happened before and it will certainly happen again - especially around big bull runs.

Lets say you own a 25 BTC cas coin. BCH alone is worth 1.25 BTC.

It would make absolutely NO sense (from a financial point of view) to sell the coin for less than 26.25.
When you take the security challenges with delivery into consideration then would most buyers want an even higher price to make the sale and risk worthwhile regardless of peoples opinion of the shit coins.

Don't get me wrong Lauda, I am no fan of the forks and all the shitcoins. I would love to see them ALL of them go to zero and flatline.
But they are loaded on the cas coins no matter if you like them or not.

Cheers  Smiley

The value of the forks is negligible at this time. This isn't late 2017.
The major BTC forks took place in Q3-Q4 of 2018 Wink

One can make his own evaluation if this is an negligible amount or not.
Nope. They are worth zero on small denoms now.

You are right about the fork, i bow to your great knowledge.

Maybe you can edcuate me further on this then:

Nope. They are worth zero on small denoms now.

A private key with e.g. 1 BTC pre fork will hold 1 BCH. 1 BCH is ~0.05 BTC

0.05 /= 0 ?

149  Economy / Collectibles / Re: [Auction] Charlie Lee signed Lealana 25LTC & 10LTC ICG MS68 graded coins! on: May 17, 2019, 08:15:29 PM
Due to how much these have gone for, I have decided that I will not get any of my other Lealana coins signed. Will keep these signed Lealana graded coins limited.

I was suprised as well how much your signature is worth.
Such nice respect for the winners that you will limit these signed coins.

Great auction!

1 BTC prefork has 0.053 BTC worth of BCH+BTG with current rates.
So for a half it would be 0.0265 BTC.

One can make his own evaluation if this is an negligible amount or not.

Cheers!

Why break the roll? Isn't the roll more valuable together than separate? Unless you all ready took coins out of the roll. Than i guess it wouldn't matter.

Spokanistan51 might not want to sell all 50 coins at this point.

Personally I would love to own an intact cas roll, when that is said; i think there is incredible few that would be willing to buy a high premium for an intact roll.

It is worth mentioning, that coins coming out of a fresh roll is in pristine condition.

Good luck with the sales.

But I don't think a roll of cas halfs have gone up for auction here in a loooooong time

As far as I remember last time was when Mike himself was auctioning rolls, 6 years ago.

I am not a Kialara collector myself, however I am wondering which of the pieces that is most desirable for you collectors?
If I should guess then Thug Life or 1 BTC Gold (based on some crazy auctions in the past).

I would most likely have bought "Satoshi Summons the Bulls" - but I am way too slow, its already sold.

dazedfool, anduck and canaryinthemine all have ones up.

If their prices are too much for you, you might need to revise your expectations.

Maybe you should revise your analysis. There is one cheaper on eBay than their prices currently. Why would I pay more to receive less? I love starting off Saturday with stupid people!
If you want to be a smart ass, then maybe you should buy your Casascius coin from eBay.
Just be careful: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=3257048.0

I know where i would be going if i wanted one of these, and it would not be eBay  Tongue

I’m actually just smart not a smart ass. Someone comes on my thread and tells me to revise my own tactics for buying. I provide rational logic and now you mad? How about I buy that coin for 1.6 BTC and sell it to you for 1.7 like the other people are asking otherwise gtfo my thread

Please understand that words like "eBay" and "Paypal" is not too popular here (for obvious reasons) - so using some random coin on eBay as an argument for your buying range will not get your very far - and you can certainly expect an reaction. Especially when you start out saying you would be willing to pay a premium when buying from a reputable seller.

Instead of starting some pointless discussion - try to use this forum as a resource instead, you will not find any other place with greater combined knowledge of Casascius collectibles.

Cheers

158  Other / Meta / Re: DT1 users may be artificially increasing their own trust (Updated March 26th) on: April 09, 2018, 12:55:43 PM
The whole point of the trust system is that you appoint a group of people to DT1 - because they are trustworthy.
It will then be up to them to add people on DT2 to extend the default network.
It is not a perfect system - but it has worked well for many years.

But in order for the system to work - then must the DT1 user be free to add/remove anyone on their trust list - without having to constantly defend them self - they havde been appointed to DT1 because theymos trust their judgement.

I do not se how any DT1 users would be motivated to manipulate their trust score?
They are already been proven trustworthy and every veteran user here know exactly who is on DT1.
The trust score means nothing for these users.

Op basically imply that the DT1 user is not allowed to have feedback from someone on their trust list - this is nonsens, as the people ending up on DT2 most likely did some type of business or trade with the DT1 user in the past - which ultimately lead to being trustworthy and be on DT2.

Basically OP just point out how the trust system works, there is really nothing useful in the information listed - maybe there are some academic interest, but that's all.
Obviously Annon001 is a shill account - if you want to discuss this core matter, then plz use your primary account.

10,000 Dogecoins on each.
Hologram is on the back side of the coin.
Private keys (as far as I know) were destroyed by CI after funding.
No, no.

He means the cat. How many dogecoin is the cat loaded with? I'll bid 12k doge on the cat.

My bid is 13k DOGE for the cat.

Is there discount if buying multiple cats?
