I do somewhat subscribe to the simulation theory... Like Elon Musk, I find it too plausible to disbelieve.  The Hindus and Buddhists have been saying similar for thousands of years, only they call it reincarnation

I find the idea of reincarnation more plausible than the idea that god created everyone with less than 100 years to find the correct religion or they spend eternity being tortured by an omnibenevolent god... the latter being a contradiction of an omnibenevolent god torturing souls for eternity, simply for making the wrong choice with limited/bad/contradictory information

In the famous letter, Einstein both rejected the veracity of the Jewish religion and embraced the Jewish culture.

    In Einstein’s letter to Gutkind, he tells the philosopher how alike they are in their thinking — especially in what he calls their “un-American attitude.”

    He talks of the Jewish religion being “like all other religions” in that it is “an incarnation of primitive superstition.” However, he goes on: “And the Jewish people to whom I gladly belong, and in whose mentality I feel profoundly anchored, still for me do not have any different kind of dignity from all other peoples. As far as my experience goes, they are in fact no better than other human groups, even if they are protected from the worst excesses by a lack of power. Otherwise I cannot perceive anything ‘chosen’ about them.”

This isn’t the only time Einstein has critiqued religion and referenced his own lack thereof. Despite his discussions about “God” in a mathematical, philosophical sense, he was often quite devout in disbelief (but not so much that he ever used the “atheist” label).

    In a different letter, written around a decade earlier, he wrote: “I have repeatedly said that in my opinion the idea of a personal God is a childlike one. You may call me an agnostic, but I do not share the crusading spirit of the professional atheist. … I prefer an attitude of humility corresponding to the weakness of our intellectual understanding of nature and of our own being.”

Einstein will perhaps forever be used by religious apologists who want to convince people it’s “smart” to believe in “God,” but the fact is he would reject the modern notion of the religious deity we see around the world today. This letter is yet another reminder of that.

IQ tests aren't objective at all, it was proven many times before. Many people, who are actually really smart in life can't do IQ tests very well, it's just that they abstract thinking developed differently, or not so much at all. On the other hand you can pick whatever person is shitposting on the internet, and he will probably show you an average IQ score.

There are many models and definitions of intelligence. The IQ usually is measured in an academic form, regardless of the culture of the subjects being tested. Therefore we measure, what WE think intelligence is, bringing disadvantages for certain groups. Intelligence needs to be considered always with the context someone is in.

For me, intelligence is how to be smart and cognitively adaptable compared to others in the same surrounding and it should also include the emotional intelligence and creativity and other non-academic measures.

It sounds like you are trying to give everyone a participation trophy for intelligence

I hate to break it to you, but computers are already smarter than humans.  Deep Blue beat the world chess champion in 1997.  More recently, deep learning AI has been able to beat humans at Go, a more complex game than chess.

I assume the dates of 2029 and 2045 are guesses to when AI will achieve consciousness.

I would guess closer to 50 years from now myself, maybe 2070.  Mostly because science has no idea where consciousness comes from.  A programmer can create a neural-net that acts like a brain, but, how do you give it a consciousness and free will?

Your consciousness is not the brain itself, but rather "the watcher" or "the decider", aka "the man behind the curtain"... how do you give such an aspect to a computer?

Some people think that once a neural network becomes large enough it could become self-aware spontaneously.  If this happened it could be a lot sooner than 50 years.  Though, I don't see how you could even tell it was self-aware unless it had the ability to reprogram itself.

A self-aware AI with the ability to reprogram itself would evolve faster than people could keep up with it.  Soon we would not understand it's code, even if it allowed us to view it.  This sounds like the "singularity" you refer to.  You can't put that genie back in the bottle once it is out...
