142  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] a new coin based on Litecoin - CHNCoin on: May 05, 2013, 03:00:18 PM
Difficulty was supposed to hit 100 and it went to 20.88??

p2pool FTW!  Just made more in a hour than the last 12 hours on pushpool's.
144  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: CNC Pool Report - All your CNC Pool Talk on: May 05, 2013, 02:21:21 PM
I setup another fast pool, see thread https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=195793

CHNCoin P2Pool Server:
http://cnc.crabdance.com:8400

  • located in US Central on a low latency 1Gbit link
  • based on latest 11.4 P2Pool
  • 4 Cores, 16GB Server, currently at 1% load only
  • connects to blastbob's P2Pool network
  • low stales/DOA
  • nicer interface based on P2PoolExtendedFrontEnd
  • 3% Fee

Mining User: Your CHNCoin Address
Mining Pass: Anything

cgminer example:
Quote
cgminer --scrypt -o cnc.crabdance.com:8400 -u yourCNCaddress -p x -s 1 --expiry 1 --gpu-threads 1 --queue 0

cudaminer example:
Quote
cudaminer -o cnc.crabdance.com:8400 -u yourCNCaddress -p x

cpuminer example:
Quote
minerd -o cnc.crabdance.com:8400 -u yourCNCaddress -p x

Liking this pool at the moment.  Much better than the pushpool offerings.

Ahhhhh, this p2pool is feeding my GPU's much better than the flaky pushpool's were.

Sending hashes your way.  The pushpool's have become ridiculous and I've never tried a p2pool before.

Thats exactly why I choose to setup my own P2Pool, I was on pushpools as well but even though your local cgminer reports low stales it seems that the stale rate from pushpool's point of view is much higher resulting lower payout. So far on P2Pool Im seeing payout much closer to what it should be (variance is higher due to lower overall hashrate at the moment, but over time its definitely more than on the pushpool servers, for me at least)
Yes my stale rate in cgminer was like a couple percent, but my payouts were getting to be 4 times less than they were 48 hours ago.  Something not right with the way pushpool scaled as the network hashrate went up and the difficulty still hasn't adjusted from 8.xx yet.

My hashrate is the same since I started and I'm getting paid less and less at the pushpool pool's.  It seems I get disconnected every couple of minutes and my cgminer is constantly switching between pools and even local when all my pools go down.  This has caused me to make 4x less than I did 48 hours ago.  Not sure if p2pool's are better because the DOA/Orphan percentages are like 40%+?? Seems horrible.
149  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] a new coin based on Litecoin - CHNCoin on: May 05, 2013, 12:25:59 AM
My first time mining an scrypt based altcoin, got a question.  I have my GPU's tuned to the max without HW errors and I am making good coin, but I keep getting "Rejected ... (Job 'xx' not found).  Does anyone know if I can tune something in cgminer for that?  Or is it just because the pools are flaky?  I tried setting the queue to 0 and that did not help.
150  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: CHN coin difficulty??!! on: May 05, 2013, 12:00:34 AM
Difficulty is already way too high to solo mine without something like 10Mh/s.  Use pools right now.  Set up multiple pools in cgminer to fall back on.  Make your last pool solo mining on your localhost CHN client.  I "accidently" mined a block today when both my pools were down.  Jackpot!  $30 USD in one shot.
151  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [CNC] What's the best pool at the moment? on: May 04, 2013, 11:39:47 PM
I use:
0 - chn.mnlan.net
1 - chn.ub3rl33t.com
2 - localhost

Those two pools go down often and then cgminer hits my local client for solo mining.  Believe it or not I mined a block today!  At the exchange rates at the time it was like hitting a $30 USD jackpot!
152  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: CHN coin difficulty??!! on: May 04, 2013, 11:36:47 PM
Are you looking at cgminer?  If so:

Q: Why do the scrypt diffs not match with the current difficulty target?
A: The current scrypt block difficulty is expressed in terms of how many
multiples of the BTC difficulty it currently is (eg 28) whereas the shares of
"difficulty 1" are actually 65536 times smaller than the BTC ones. The diff
expressed by cgminer is as multiples of difficulty 1 shares.

e.g. 8.02356428 x 65536 = ~526K
153  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Is bter.com legit? Can't withdraw any funds on: May 04, 2013, 08:29:54 PM
It is legit so far.  Deposited ~400CNC and withdrawn a little over 1BTC so far.  Anybody know how long this exchange has been in operation?
154  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] a new coin based on Litecoin - CHNCoin on: May 04, 2013, 08:27:55 PM
I recommend CHN.MNLAN.NET.
155  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: CNC mining pools. on: May 04, 2013, 01:25:15 AM
Hahaha, there is a constantly updating list right in the official CNC announcement thread.  Look at page 62 - https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=192243.1240

Oh this doesn't sound like Child Porn at all.
157  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Who owns http://chn.ub3rl33t.com/ ? on: May 04, 2013, 01:00:21 AM
Yes auto payout is broken.  Manual payout working like a champ.  Kinda sucks, but the pool is working pretty good and all the pools are just hours old anyway.
158  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] a new coin based on Litecoin - CHNCoin on: May 03, 2013, 06:55:05 PM
Ub3rl33t having issues with auto payout?
159  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [BREAKING NEWS] CNC might soon be traded on Bter.com on: May 03, 2013, 06:52:02 PM
What's the history of scamcoins? Could anyone post some threads/list of scamcoins? Let's history help us not to make the same mistakes Cheesy
Might want to check out the sticky in this subforum.
160  Economy / Speculation / Re: The average cost of a mined coin is in the 20-30 USD range on: May 03, 2013, 06:42:03 PM
My assumptions:
1. Fiat value of bitcoin = mining cost + speculation value added.
2. Half of all mining power is ASIC as of today
3. Cost of power worldwide is approximated with average cost in US (0.15 USD/kW)
4. Average hardware breakeven of 3 months (90 days) is reasonable to many.
I think #2 is pretty much impossible at this current time.  A few more months and it may be true.
