I read the entire OP and saw nothing about escrow.
Please tell me that all BTC invested during the ICO will be escrowed and if something goes off kilter during the ICO, will BTC will be returned?

I had a Break in Cryptos for about a Year due to lots of Work. Can someone tell me if this qora is the Coin I had some ORA Assets at nxt AE? I just looked in my nxt Account and saw that I transferred them to NXT-G7QA-2KUA-BLLZ-5FUCY in February last Year. So do I have a Stake here?
I think you have no stake in Qora. There was some dude who called himself Kora that was so pissed off that he missed the ICO and felt so sorry for missing out on a stake that he started his own MS currency on the AE. Sorry man. Send me your qora addy and I'll send you a few if you want to stick around. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=620518.0

I've been asked by a few forum members about how a Qora fork would differ from Qora itself and I think that is a very important point to consider (as to whether this should be supported or not and I'm not going to be pushing for this but just providing some ideas).
My thinking is along the lines of perhaps addressing the gap that was left after the basic failure of the Diaspora project (so maybe have the focus being on the "social network" aspect).
IMO charging fees for posting blog entries isn't going to work so the fork would be support a different approach that would allow blog entries to be created without fees (anti-spamming would be handled in another way). The concept of private blogs (with subscriptions being controlled by the creator) is something I think would be useful to add.
Also I think it would be nice to have a decentralised forum - so that might be another key aspect.
I also don't think that such a fork would bother with Assets or Names and its voting system would be according to minting accounts rather than POS (so it should end up being quite a different beast).
Having read this makes me think it would be much better to improve qora rather than fork it for a new project, even though some of the features you would like to adopt may not be able to be implemented with the current qora chain (not sure). Part of me thinks this because I would rather see development continue on qora without diluting the talent. Also, I don't think a small fee (what is it, 1 qora) for a blog post is more than people are willing to contribute. At the same time, of course qora is open source, and you can do what you want. I think you would also likely have an automatic community built in if you distributed based on the "snapshot" of qora holders.

I am not sure what is the best for Qora - with or without Azure... But we should think about CIYAMs posting! His opinion is very important for Qora!
Agree 100% this is a very good point.

Are private keys (seeds) that were created using first version of qora from 2014 still valid? I wonder if it's worth looking for it.
Seeds are still valid but you will need the cooresponding password. Were you part of the genesis? Who knows, you my have a nice score given the increase in price?

Hi !
I'm new to qora. I downloaded the windows client today and launched it however I cant seem to fully synchronize it. It seems to hang half way through each time I try to launch it. First time it stopped at 49% now it just stopped at 23 % with no further movement.
What can I do ?
On another subject, I am a web developper with decent experience in Java javascript and various related techs. Is there something the qora project needs help with that I could participate in ?
Cheers
Welcome to the project. I think you are joining at a great time - please talk to 'agran' or 'skerberus' who are part of the core dev team. Great to have you on board! edit - there is also a slack channel where the devs can be found: http://slack.qora.co.in/Regarding the wallet: I like to download and use the most recent data folder here for quick install: http://qora.co.in/?datafolder. Delete the current data folder and wallet from the main qora folder and try to launch again with the dowloaded data folder. You will need to enter your seed and password again. Let us know how it goes.

Update: We're currently debating whether Qora should be on MS Azure's BaaS blockchain service or not, and we welcome all inputs/suggestions from the community.
I actually don't know much about the purpose of using Azure except to increase expose for those shopping for a blockchain to use...so I can't comment regarding its potential as a platform to improve qora's value. I suspect it would be a good idea to at least try, get a response from MS and then make a decision. But if MS gives a similar response as it gave NEM, forget it. Can anyone explain why coins want to be on Azure apart from an immediate and short term hype? What is BaaS?

0.26.0 will the latest version on which I work. I sold my share.
Sad times. Thank you for all of your effort to date. You with the other have made Qora what it is. I hope someone will take over the block explorer and all of the wallet updates. Has someone contacted you about this?

WTB 10 M BATL for 75,000 BITS
|
|
|
It is scheduled to end at 12:00 today. That'll be 12:00 BST/DST what with the clocks having gone forward.
If there are calls for it to be extended for a few hours we are open to such requests.
The process will be that we will provide an update in the final hour announcing a 60minute countdown for final submissions. As soon as the submission period ends a table listing all the deposits will be posted, meaning that any further deposits made to those addresses will not count.
We'll give some time for the community to confirm they are happy that all looks in order and then will post a second table listing the proportional share each deposit will receive. Once confirmed by the community again that the numbers tally we will begin sending the coins to the listed receiving addresses and seek confirmation that everyone has received the number of coins they expected.
Finally, once the distribution has been completed the Bitstarcoins in the deposit addresses will all be consolidated into one address which can be monitored by the community until the new BITS wallet is released. This new codebase will omit that address in the new chain, resulting in a confirmed burn and reduction in total coin supply.
Approximately how many BITS have been sent for the burn process and how many unique addresses?
|
|
|
What is the cloned PoS platform for BATL?
|
|
|
Yes there is no problem sending from an exchange address as the address you are submitting is from the new coin's wallet and not a BITS address.
Thanks but another issues came up: I only have a mac: does this mean I am unable to obtain a new address for the burn process? Any suggestions on how to get a new address without a Window's machine?
|
|
|
Seeing that we input a new address to receive the "new" token, I assume it is okay to send BITS from an exchange for the burn process, right?
|
|
|
...it is merely a way for the new coin to be fairly distributed and create a sufficient level of vested interest...
It just seems like interest to keep the new chain working well will be minimal. Additionally, only 2 days to submit BITS seems too narrow a window to attract enough interest....I got lucky and just happened to read the thread; others will totally miss the opportunity. I think you are limiting your chance for success imho. So what is the app being developed anyway?

I've been following Ian's work, and I'm pretty surprised not more people have mentioned CIYAM's groundbreaking achievement with Bitcoin ACCT (using CLTV). It sounds like a decentralized exchange between Qora and Bitcoin is just few weeks away?? Can vbcs comment on this?? Also, I'm curious if any more "test cases" based on automated transaction have been developed for Qora (ie. lottery, automated dividend payout)? Initial work on the Wallet and Transaction packages to support ACCT (using CLTV) has been completed.
Currently it requires a fair bit of manual copy and pastes which should be able to be removed by optionally tying the Trade package to the Wallet and Transaction packages (which I think is going to be essential for this to be generally usable).
I expect this will take at least a couple of weeks after which work on being able to turn this into a combined local and blockchain application will commence.
This may very well be why we saw a price spike. Unfortunately, it is apparent that CIYAM's implementation is very complicated for the non-technical type. It does, however, appeal to a lot of crypto-users and has tremendous potential if simplified. I really hope we see further improvements and adoption. Imagine a Shapeshift that is not centralized.

I will repeat following on every page

The 1000+ BTC is the volume but the wall is around 120 BTC. Not sure what's going on with the increase....but great to see the volume. Really brings QORA into view for new adopters which the community really needs. And with the wallet coming soon, and hopefully ACCT with a BTC clone things only getting better for QORA! HODL and go long!
