141  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: BFGMiner 5.4.1: GBT+Stratum, RPC, Mac/Linux/Win64, Antminer S1-S5, Block v4 solo on: February 03, 2016, 01:24:56 PM
"blktmpl error: Unrecognized block version, and not allowed to reduce or force it"

when trying to mine to a bitcoin classic node. Will this require an updated version of libblkmaker? looking at bitcoin-cli getblocktemplate I see
I don't support altcoins. When/if Classic actually proposes a hardfork (no such proposal has been made yet) and it achieves consensus to replace Bitcoin (from the entire community, not merely some niche with an agenda), I will add support at that time.

(Also, people who support a reckless hardfork without consensus, ought to seriously consider whether they think the project can actually survive without any competent developers involved...)

I figured your reply would be something like that. I wont be a jerk and ask why scrypt asics are supported if you dont support altcoins.
I don't maintain the scrypt support, and certainly don't provide [unpaid] support if someone has problems with some scrypt altcoin. Smiley

So if someone else submits a PR that allows bfgminer to work with a bitcoin classic node, you'll merge it? (That is, if someone else "maintains" the bitcoin classic support)?

143  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [∞ YH] solo.ckpool.org 1% fee solo mining USA/DE servers 154 blocks solved! on: February 03, 2016, 02:55:02 AM
re: pool problems... it says "Failed authorization Sad" but I literally haven't changed a thing. Still [address].[worker] yes? I get same result on 3334 and 3333
Sure you haven't added a space or something in your username in your miner's config during copy/paste? Also once you fail to authorise you get throttled for attempted auths for the next 10 minutes (this has always been the case though).

yeah 100% sure all i did was turn off my miners for like a day. oh and i had them pointed to kano.is for a while as well.
That is most unusual indeed. Last time this happened to someone on this forum they restarted their machine and re-entered their credentials and everything worked after that. Perhaps in failover you never noticed it had never mined on solo and was always running on a backup?

i'll reboot tomorrow sometime. happily mining on DE server right now.

@Luke-jr I get

"blktmpl error: Unrecognized block version, and not allowed to reduce or force it"

when trying to mine to a bitcoin classic node. Will this require an updated version of libblkmaker? looking at bitcoin-cli getblocktemplate I see

"version" : 805306368,

Which I thought corresponded to v3 blocks (0x30000000) but since it's not working, I'm not so sure...

If your answer is that this is a bitcoin classic issue that needs to be fixed on their end, that's fine, but any starting points would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

@-ck will you ever run a solo bitcoin classic pool? maybe on a different port? just wondering...

Also, I think there are connection problems for the main pool? DE pool works fine (7:23pm EST, 2/2/2016)
Not unless classic usurps mainline.

No problems at main pool that I can see - usual problems are incomplete stratum implementations by rental services rendered non-working on the main pool due to it being behind an extra layer of DDoS protection - try port 3334 which is less protected.

good to know re: classic

155  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [11 PH] Kano CKPool (kano.is) from the cgminer devs [0.9% PPLNS] US,DE,SG,RU on: January 20, 2016, 09:53:27 PM
Avalon and kano.is are having another great miner give-away!

So it was just my birthday and my only present was an unexpected emergency root canal, which delayed another, less urgent surgery I had already scheduled... Sure would be a nice present... I guess if karma is a thing, there wouldn't be much better a candidate to win one of these bad boys.
156  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [5 PH] Kano CKPool (kano.is) from the cgminer devs [0.9% PPLNS] on: December 24, 2015, 10:08:57 PM
@ckkano since you brought up block size and BIP100 and I've been gone from the thread a while (months) can you summarize if/when/how you intend to support block size changes? Obviously I mean the over 1mb changes. I ask because it seems miners will get the "vote" on what to support (but really that means the pool owners).

Sorry if you have discussed before but I read back 10 or so pages and didn't see anything.
ftfy Smiley

Anyway, I put up the limit to 988,888 yesterday (and edited the first post)

Nothing has changed since the BIP100 vote was added to our (and other) pool coinbase sigs, other than gazik showing that BIP100 was a scam by the bitcoin core devs.
The bitcoin core devs seem to think that they control bitcoin, and that it isn't a peer 2 peer currency.
There are ways to prove them wrong, when you have a very large % of the mining network showing agreement for a change that the devs want to flex their imaginary power and push their agenda and bury it rather than proceeding with the obvious agreement of the majority of bitcoin mining.
The core devs want side chains and are pushing that since that is in their personal financial interest.

There is no need to force anything, there is a need to put in place BIP100 and allow the network vote, to accept or deny it, to occur.

I don't like the idea of block sizes growing at an exponential pre-determined rate, determined by one person.
Over 99% of the mining network has agreed to that and thrown out BIP101

Yes, in general, any block voting will effectively mean that pools will decide the vote, but the simple issue there is that if people care about bitcoin and what they want, they can vote by going to a pool that does what they want.

I also think that what I've done with regards to SPV is a point to show how bitcoin can work.
1 person can't make a change, but 1 person can inform others and make it well known what is going on and effect a change that way.

Happy Saturnalia Smiley

... and a payout due in a few blocks Smiley

Good summary. I guess my personal concern with BIP100 that there is no code behind it (is there?). I mean I guess it'll all come to a head soon if we keep seeing full blocks. And I guess the lack of code is what you mean by BIP100 being a scam.  Basically a red herring for people to spin their wheels on gathering support behind with no real intention of it going any further. I suppose anyone could just write some BIP100-enabling code and release a fork that all these publicly supportive folks could move on to.

maybe it is not perfectly written, but the result is nice!
I would like to have it.
Will you post me a link if you put it on Github please.

I'll post it up sometime in the next few weeks. I'll clean it up a little first. It's really just a menagerie of bash scripts running on a local console through tmux that I then dump to text files, wrap in some html, and push to a web server via scp. But yeah I'll clean it a little then post it with a howto.

Welp, after some repairs and some adjustments, I'm back. Lower hashrate but more efficient. Now let's get some more green on the block table.

Too be fair, I want asking for a new feature to be added. Just asking if it existed already.
