141  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: How long has your GPU lasted mining 24/7? on: December 23, 2017, 03:58:38 PM
5830 for 2 years and 2 months.
5770 2 years and 1 month.

I just retired them both last month after getting Block Erupters.  Both GPU's are still functional.
Sam

hi, are you mining for 24/7 also?

You know this thread is over 4 years old...but it does bring back memories...
142  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: CPU mining is still alive and kicking! on: December 15, 2017, 12:56:17 AM
In late 2015, I mined Monero with CPU. Then it was $ 0.2 and everyone told me it was not worth it. For a few months I mined and gave up. Now I have a beautiful couple hundred $ in Monero and I'm sorry that I gave up.

Never give up if you believe in something...go with your instincts

Be careful, this is what happens when ask an FE proponent for proof:

144  Other / Off-topic / Re: Flat Earth on: December 14, 2017, 11:30:34 PM
Okay, the earth is flat, what about gravity then? why it save gravity value same at the "center" and at the "brinks". Sorry to ancients, I said brinks of earth.

One thing I learned from this thread (probably the only thing), don't ask an FE believer for proof because this will happen:

is it worth nowdays to combine several raspberry pi3 to mine?

No...proof of stake maybe...but not mining

It's best to research FE theory (or lack of a theory) in "private mode" on your browser, or there might be a knock on your door...

Selenelion

A selenelion or selenehelion occurs when both the Sun and the eclipsed Moon can be observed at the same time. This can happen only just before sunset or just after sunrise, and both bodies will appear just above the horizon at nearly opposite points in the sky. This arrangement has led to the phenomenon being referred to as a horizontal eclipse. There are typically a number of high ridges undergoing sunrise or sunset that can see it. Although the moon is in the Earth’s umbra, the Sun and the eclipsed Moon can both be seen at the same time because the refraction of light through the Earth’s atmosphere causes each of them to appear higher in the sky than their true geometric position

149  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Setting up my first *ghetto* mining rig!! on: December 14, 2017, 04:56:42 PM
OP,
For the sake of safety, I would use 1 or max 2 server PSUs, preferably of the same model and condition. 3 different PSUs, even good quality, seem the weak point to me.
With server PSUs, you assemble the cabling by yourself and make sure every contact is strong and stable - very important when dealing with high currents. Additionally, you are not restricted to the configuration of power connectors.
Will the rig be enclosed or there will be free air flow? Low temperatures affect negatively computer hardware - I had a case when the miner started only after the ambient temperature got >15C. Haven't figured what was the problem - either the HDD or the server PSU.

From my calculations, you rig would be running OK with 2x 750-1000W or 1x 1600-2000W server PSU + a DC-DC ATX converter (picoPSU). If you're a skilled DIY enthusiast, I can help you with details in PM.

Yep, I would had bought a couple from www.parallelminer.com but they're in the US and the Custom charges were gonna rape me. I will keep exploring that option to replace the PSUs I have. But next week I have to have the rig online.

It's gonna be open air. Temperatures right now at night are already ~5C. :/

Could not find if you mentioned where you are from in the thread ? What area of the globe do you come from ?
150  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: How much longer will the 1080Ti be the king? on: December 13, 2017, 11:02:40 PM
It also has the longest ROI of any new card:

1080Ti on ZEC - 195 days
---
1060 3GB on ZEC - 165 days
Price from the site nvidia:
1080 Ti - $699 : 195 days = 3.58
1060 -  $299 : 165 days = 1.81

1080 Ti need only 1 extra month after payback that to circumvent younger model in the effectiveness. Already at 255 days, she can earn for you 2 times more money (unless of course it all not fall apart). Moreover, who then will need trash (1050/1060 and partly 1070), with the advent of Nvidia Ampere?

I can't find a 1080ti near that price...I think we still have a GPU bubble going on

We can use as proof the pendulum that proving the rotation of the earth, it's called Foucault pendulum, if earth is rotating, it must be spherical, I am not insist tho, better just google it. Ok?

Now is latest time to sale your Bitcoins, because the price now is more than 16 200 USD - http://preev.com/. So you can make extremely good profit now, it is not wise to wait more, because Bitcoin price can go down.  Wink

I respect your opinion, but why do you think this?

At least give some reasoning.

It COULD go to 13,500 or it COULD go to 19,500

Overall trend has been upward...
Bitcoin price was going up all the time this year, it can not go up forever, so you can understand this. One day it will go down, so you must sale your Bitcoins at right rime.  Grin

This is very true, but I've seen investors say this about the stock market, and it has gone to the moon...

You need a sound strategy were you are selling a little as it goes up and buying as it drops...take profits at times...buy if the price collapses.

It ain't easy, balls of steel help.

I would say Its very unlikely there are aliens out there. Life is just so unlikely in itself, that I have a hard time seeing it happening twice in one universe. And if there are life, its probably very simple life forms.

If its very intelligent lifeform, then we are screwed if they find us. If they are anything like humans - they will consider us in the same way, we consider cows, chickens etc.

They will either eat us or destroy our world, for their own advantage
