1401  Other / Meta / Re: A description of the Bitcoin Talk merit system on: June 04, 2018, 07:32:54 PM
so that Bitcoin Talk can become the top forum to discuss the new digital currencies that will be introduced by the bankers and governments in the future.
Bitcointalk is becoming more of a cryptocurrency forum rather than a bitcoin forum. It's pretty difficult to find a good thread in Altcoin Board and it would be really difficult for a good discussion to take place.
Unless the spam present in the Altcoin Discussion is not cleaned up or prevented, we cannot discuss anything new. Merit didn't stop the spammers to post in the frog pond. May be we can have a new board like Serious Discussion for discussing Altcoin related stuff which is restricted to Newbies - Members and the posts made there doesn't count or add to their activity.

1402  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Bitcoin Wallet on: June 04, 2018, 06:32:27 PM
This question was answered lot many times before. You could have used the search function before posting the question.

A wallet doesn't hold your coins. It just holds the private keys. Private keys are the keys used for spending the coins. You can store the private keys in a online wallet or a software wallet or a hard wallet.

1. If you hold large balances of btc, I would advice you to stay away from the online wallets. Almost all the newbies would go for the online wallets since they don't need to download the whole blockchain which is around 150 GB of size. Online wallets comprises of exchange wallets, casino wallets etc. Most of the online wallets are subjected to hacks which will lead to the losing of your coins because online wallets control your keys. If you hold few satoshis, online wallets like blockchain.info may be good to go.

2. If you have a good PC with decent hard disk space, you can use Core or armory wallet whereas if you don't have hard disk space to sync the complete block chain, you can go for electrum.

3. On the other hand, if your crypto savings are large then you need to invest $100-120 and buy a hard wallet. Wallets like Ledger Nano and Trezor are good to go. In hard wallets you hold your keys in a USB drive which can be stolen only if you lose your hardware wallet.

4. If you are not ready to buy a hardware wallet and feel like stingy, create a paper wallet and store it in a safe place. Unless you don't know to create a paper wallet, stay away from it. Web wallets like green address are worth mentioning.

5. Mobile wallets like mycelium are good choice.

Some wallets like blockchain.info, mycelium still use legacy address where you need to pay high for transaction fees.
1403  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Warning! Error encountered during contract execution [Reverted on: June 03, 2018, 06:09:33 PM
wherever i ask there is no help anyways thanks friend still looking for a good answer.
I have explained some possible ways to solve the problem which you have encountered. Didn't you try them? Do you think the reply of mine has been off-topic and not helpful to solve your problem?

Try not to swipe off the entire balance present in the wallet. Keep some balance in the wallet and transfer the rest of tokens. Whenever there were some errors of similar kind which you received above, reserving some balances have transferred the tokens successfully.

Minerium devs may have written the code of the coin in such a way that transferring of entire balance cannot be done.

Remember, your topic has been moved to a spam mega board where you won't receive assistance for these sorts of technical questions. So try what I have mentioned. Hope it might be of some help to you.
1404  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Warning! Error encountered during contract execution [Reverted on: June 03, 2018, 04:45:47 PM
You should have posted this in Altcoin Discussion as this question deals with ethereum blockchain and it's tokens. Kindly move this to appropriate section using the move topic button present on the bottom left.

Quote
ERC-20 Token Transfer Error (unable to locate corresponding Transfer event log), check with sender.
This error occurs when

1. You might have wrongly used the contract address and the decimals. Kindly recheck the address and decimals and resend the tokens.

2. The tokens may be locked for a certain period of time. Try to check with the team and solve it.

3. Some token devs write the code such that all the tokens present in the wallet cannot be transferred or swiped off. Try transferring the tokens less than what you have in your wallet.

Hope this helps  Smiley
1405  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Time locked transactions on: May 30, 2018, 07:31:31 PM
I'm looking for information on time-locked transactions for bitcoin.
Time Locking is a feature which when enabled restricts you to spend the btc present in the wallet for a certain time period or until the network reaches a specific block height. Time Locking features are used frequently for investment purposes or locking of funds for the heirs.

How is this transaction created exactly?
At the time of this writing, the block height is 525160. Create a transaction and enter the nlocktime say 650000.
The bitcoinj library has a command line tool that can be used to create such transactions.
Unless the blockheight entered hasn't been exceeded, your transaction is invalid, won't get confirmed and would never be broadcasted in the network.

Does this transaction remain off-chain between the sender and the receiver until the time has elapsed?
Yes transaction is invalid and would remain off-chain until the specified blockheight is reached. If you broadcast the transaction before the blockheight, it will not get included in the blocks. You can even cancel the transactions before the locktime is reached.

Does this transaction remain on the mempool until that time?
No. Mempool consists of unconfirmed transactions. Mempool consists of set of transactions that are broadcasted in the network but are not included in the blocks by a miner. Locktime transactions are not broadcasted to the network before the blockheight is reached. So you need to store the transactions in a safe place and need to broadcast it to the network at the right time when the locktime reaches.

1406  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ethereum erc20 token unconfirmed/pending transactions on: May 30, 2018, 03:58:02 PM
Erc20 token is similar to Eth transactions.

You can check the unconfirmed and pending transaction of a particular token by using the contract address of that token. In order to find the contract address visit https://etherscan.io/tokens and enter the token name and check for the transactions by using the TxHash.

What it has to do with the Altcoin Discussion? Move this to Meta.

i want my rank to increase oo what should i do
You are already a Full Member (which you are not worth of) and you made it literally by spamming the forum with one liner shitposts. You can never increase your rank unless you change your posting quality.
Edit : Since this topic has been moved to Meta, congrats buddy you have made your first post outside your Altcoin spam board

Where on earth would a member get 100 merits to become a full member when some higher ranked members are stingy of their merits.
There are already a handful of quality posters who became Full Members by receiving 100 merits. Try doing research and comment.

but have just reasoning if Bitcointalk.org can just do a promo every year by upgrading of ranks, suggesting if any rank will be upgraded the account should get to 5 to 8 months old in bitcointalk.org before upgrading to next rank.
There are lots of bounty spammers with large number of accounts, if this was implemented they would rise in ranks too...

The number of spam messages haven't decreased so much.
Its because people like you haven't still started posting meaningful posts.

Please I need your answers let keeps the ranks moving.
You are being paid for your posts. Why don't you post something really good if you are being paid?
1409  Economy / Scam Accusations / ubonium.com [endorsed by aTriz] and brandnetwork.net a SCAM on: May 29, 2018, 05:25:21 PM
Bounty Managers and Bounty Hunters play a vital role in marketing of an ICO. If the Bounty Manager is a trusted guy, then most of the bounty hunters hunt for the bounties by marketing the project vigorously. Such marketing strategies force most of the investors to invest in a project. A similar situation occurred in forum already where a SCAM project was endorsed by a popular manager and a member invested in the project and lost his investment. This incident triggered lots of investigations against the bounty manager. Following this incident, the bounty manager ended up loosing his positive trust and has been very inactive in this forum now.

During this period I came across a SCAM project named UBONIUM which was promoted by aTriz by organizing a Bounty. Bounty Hunters began marketing the Scam project by joining in signature campaigns, facebook, twitter and content campaigns. I can't exactly say did the Investors really invested in this project or not. During April, suddenly the ICO of Ubonium was closed stating the hard cap was reached successfully. Bounty Hunters too believed and were expecting good pay in the campaign.

ANN Thread for Ubonium : https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=3029484.0 Archived for reference
Bounty Thread for Ubonium : https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=3036847.0 Archived for reference
Ubonium Website : www.ubonium.com/

I searched for the Ubocoin in etherscan and ended up with the contract address : https://etherscan.io/token/0x51b3e8bc61e9c21e979468379d3147d6b955b79f

I further investigated for the transfers and found a particular address where 10,000 ubocoins were transferred. In the token Balances there was a coin named Brandcoin which lead me to a site www.brandnetwork.net

To my amusement the team involved with Ubonium and Brandex were both same and they have started their new ICO Scam which will commence in 2 days.  Grin Grin Grin Its really fun to see how badly the Brandex whitepaper was written and they copied almost all the lines from ubonium whitepaper.
I even joined their telegram group to check if the same scammers were managing both the projects and I ended up with a positive result that both of these projects are nothing but Scams.

Similarly they will hire a reputed bounty manager and announce their ICO and Bounty and the Bounty Hunters and Investors would invest their time and money in the ICO and lose them. Hope bounty managers won't promote the Brandcoins by reading this thread.
1410  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why different algorithms? on: May 28, 2018, 04:09:49 PM
Its really sad to see how a technical question gets disappeared with 0 replies in this spam board. Hope theymos implements Altcoin Technical Discussion board soon.  Cry Coming to your question

A cryptocurrency uses a certain algorithm because it needs to serve a particular purpose. The cryptocurrency can divided into various types based on the purpose of its creation. For example Btc uses Sha-256, Eth uses Dagger-Hashimoto algorithm, Ripple uses ECDSA, Litecoin uses Scrypt, Dash uses X11, Monero uses Cryptonight and so on.

Let's consider Btc. It was created by satoshi for the purpose of using it as digital equivalent for currency. Hence in order to have higher security, shorter btc addresses and to mine currencies using POW Sha-256 was used.

Why does Eth use Dagger-Hashimoto?
A quote from github documentation of Dagger-Hashimoto will help you out.

Dagger-Hashimoto advantages :

Quote
ASIC-resistance: the benefit from creating specialized hardware for the algorithm should be as small as possible, ideally to the point that even in an economy where ASICs have been developed the speedup is sufficiently small that it is still marginally profitable for users on ordinary computers to mine with spare CPU power.
Light client verifiability: a block should be relatively efficiently verifiable by a light client.
With an additional modification, we also specify how to fulfill a third goal if desired, but at the cost of additional complexity:

Full chain storage: mining should require storage of the complete blockchain state (due to the irregular structure of the Ethereum state trie, we anticipate that some pruning will be possible, particularly of some often-used contracts, but we want to minimize this).

Similarly Dash uses X11 in order to improve the safety of its currency. Dash or any other currency using X11 algorithm will be unsecure only when the 11 hashes were broken at the same time.

what makes the developers of a coin decide upon a particular algorithm for the protocol to operate with?
They decide in order to make their currency more secure and to fulfill the coin's purpose of creation.

Hindsight certainly is 20/20, isn't it?
Yes.

Some possible suggestions which can prevent the generation of spam to large extent

1. If the creation of topic in Altcoin Discussion and Bitcoin Discussion is restricted to Newbies-Members it would prevent almost huge spam generated in the boards. Yes, it would be difficult for a newbie if he signs up in the forum for getting an assistance to restore his lost keys or coins. There is a separate section in Bitcoin board for Technical Support, so a newbie who needs an assistance for his btc can post there. A creation of separate board for Altcoin Technical Support may solve the problem in Altcoin Section for newbies.

2. Locking of shit topics if it reaches 500-750+ replies. Its really good to see that Mods respond to the locking of mega-spam threads. I myself has successfully reported around 5-10 topics which was locked by mprep and hilariousandco.

I don't think managers are checking posts manually for length OR quality, and I seriously doubt whether many of these altcoin bounty managers even have the language skills necessary to properly evaluate quality posts.  From what I've seen, a lot of them are just as ignorant as the shitposters are.
If almost all the Altcoin bounty managers were like ALU team, it would force members to post at least 2-3 lines of replies related to topic.

Tagging alt account are becoming worthless nowadays, I frequently see some of the campaigns are accepting Negative Trust accounts  Cry These members are participating along with their alts.

P.S : OP is your's a bought account?

1. Visit  Alternate cryptocurrencies > Altcoin Discussion

3. Visit the last 50-100 pages. Almost all the accounts have 1-liner - 2-liner posts

Most probably there is no way to recover your hacked account OP if you haven't staked a unedited bitcoin address somewhere in the forum and if you didn't sign with the address. Try to PM Cyrus explaining your issue, but it won't be accepted unless you have a signed message  Undecided

Here is the steps to regain your hacked account : https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=497545.0

But most probably it won't be helpful to you. Try contacting hilariousandco regarding this.
If nothing helps, let any DT add a negative trust to that account stating that it is a hacked one, so that the hacker won't be using it for scams and bounties.

Can you be little more clear about the question? because the topic you mentioned is different and the subject you entered is different  Huh

I need advice: What application should I use to follow Token

If you are asking for the eth wallet which supports erc20 tokens you can go for MEW

updating new ICO, updating the price on multiple floors, adding more ETHs at the same time
else if you are asking for an application to track your token price, add more tokens to your portfolio, Blockfolio would really be helpful

1416  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Error sweeping wallet on: May 23, 2018, 03:13:06 PM
Thanks for correcting me and the explanation you have given for justifying it. Maybe I would have not read completely about sweeping of paper wallets.
1417  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Error sweeping wallet on: May 22, 2018, 03:26:02 PM
'Sweeping' simply means to import private keys + send them to an address generated by this wallet.
Isn't "Sweeping a paper wallet" and "Importing private keys of a paper wallet" different?

Importing private key of a paper wallet is just adding the "private key of paper wallet" to the list of private keys already present in the software wallet (for instance electrum). By this way we can have access to both the funds of the wallet and also the paper wallet and the wallet balance increases. Importing a private key is literally dangerous when compared to sweeping of paper wallet. If the paper wallet receives any funds, they are shown in the software wallet too.

Whereas "Sweeping a paper wallet" is similar to sending btc from one address to another. Sweeping makes the balance of the paper wallet to 0 and all the funds present in the paper wallet has been transferred to the software wallet. In order to perform a sweep, its literally a blockchain transaction and requires a fee to be paid to the miner for the transfer.

Either copay is coded realy realy bad or this is not the reason for the error OP gets.
Copay doesn't support importing of private keys. It only supports sweeping of paper wallets. Hence we need to have enough funds in the wallet to pay for a transaction

A paper wallet should always contain more than just a transaction fee.
Yes. But what about btc dust? There was a time before segwit where we need to spend around 20-25$ per transaction and the amount present in the paper wallet is 10$. During such times, we cannot perform a sweep!

You might try to use a different wallet. Simply import the private key into (any) [1] wallet and send the funds to your copay wallet.
This is the only solution if the OP has less funds in a paper wallet!
1418  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Error sweeping wallet on: May 22, 2018, 06:01:45 AM
Are you having enough funds in your wallet to pay for the transaction fee?

Cannot build transaction error occurs most probably when the Total amount present in the wallet is less than amount you specified to sweep+fee. When you sweep a paper wallet, your wallet must have enough funds to provide the transaction fees and complete the sweep. For instance, if your wallet has a balance of 0.00001 btc in the paper wallet you can never sweep the wallet as the funds would go for the transaction fees itself and cannot transfer the funds.
