Or you could just send those coins to random addresses. Then some people someday will find an extra couple brix in their wallet  No need to favor early adopters! That's like destroying them. I guess I should be clear about what a premined coin is. Premined coins are those above normal within the Genesis block itself. This chain will not feature such a Genesis block.
By almost everyone else's definition of premined coins is coins that are mined before the client is released to the public. Ixcoin's creator premined 580k coins before releasing ixcoin. Lolcust just happened to come up with a way to put all the premined coins in the genesis block so as to not bloat the chain unnecessarily. So just say fairbrix will have 3775 premined coins as oppose to tenebrix's 7.7 mil. Nothing wrong with that. |

If you really want to call it fairbrix and claim no premined coins, then you need to donate those premined coins to a faucet or something. And do you really need to premine to lock in the genesis block? The genesis block can be locked in by itself in the config and no one can mess with it without forking another chain. So what's the reason the premine 150 blocks other than just to keep those coins to yourself? |

Nope, difficulty works as in bitcoin, so at 20kH/s and difficulty 0.015625 you'd expect to find a block every 2^32 * 0.015625 / 20000 seconds on average (= ~56 minutes).

1 block every 3 seconds seems..crazy.
It usually is 1 block every 15 but someone dumped a load of hashes on it it must be. Will take 20 s or so to adjust. Trying to send GG

So you can't send more than 5000 ? Odd, I'll look into that. Since all your coins are probably generated in 7 coin blocks, spending 10k coins will require a transaction with 1429 addresses at once. That's probably too large of a transaction. |

How much harder is mining Tenebrix versus mining Bitcoin? By my calculation, I should get about 1000 as many TBX than I'm getting right now given my hashrate and the current difficulty. ArtForz, can you comment?
Very roughly a factor of 1000. PhenomII hexcore here gets ~20Mh/s for BTC, ~20kh/s TBX. Ok, but is the same factor applied to the expected time to find a block? Let say the difficulty is 0.015625 and you are mining at 1 kh/s, how long does it take to find a block on average? In other words, how many hashes do you need to find a block on average? |

Anyone comparing me to this young adult is pretty silly no? Sure I may have a bigger ego than most but I know what I'm doing, SC2.0 will prove this.
I don't really see what is wrong with lolcust experimenting with this stuff but I do have an issue with him "premining" 7 million coins and not making much reference to it, hoping exchanges will start up and then he can cash out. It seems dishonest to me.
SolidCoin on the other hand, I personally have 10000 coins all up, most of them donated. There is currently 2500 left in the bounty wallet, with over 33000 sent out to hundreds of individuals. doublec has twice as much SolidCoin than me. I know someone else who has 38000 (which is the largest individual holding I'm aware of). So I am working for essentially nothing because I believe in a working online currency not because it will make me personally wealthy. I don't need any more money in my life to be happy, I have a family and software businesses already running generating income. Any dishonest activity on my part threatens all that, so I'd have to be quite stupid to risk it trying to scam people out of their investments with a new currency.
Anyone that has come to know me over the last few months will vouch for this. That said I know my personality isn't the most likeable out there but it's hard to change such things. And I eventually won't be the face of SolidCoin so that should ease some people who care about that.
CoinHunter, great post. I always knew that you are genuinely trying to create a good currency and I knew you weren't in it to get rich. And you have put in a lot of effort in SolidCoin and you did bring in some innovation unlike ixcoin/i0coin. You just need to be a bit more humble (like this post). Like you said, unfortunately, you can't easily change your personality. I'm looking forward to see what you have in store for us in SC 2.0. |

If anything, such a large size is indicative of lack of intent to selloff
seriously, if I wanted to sell-off I would have privately mined a few hundred thousands using a subtler trick that I could actually expect to be "hidden until too late".
Selling off several millions is just plain unpossible
I don't understand this argument. You don't have to sell off several million at once. You can sell off a thousand each day for the next 20 years! Why even bother with a laundering service. There's really no incentive for you to do that when you can have a steady income for the next 20 years. |

The problem with ix wasn't that he had a premined fukton, the problem was that he tried to "bribe" Gavin with them IIRC. That was not nice.
You got it wrong. The problem was not the bribe. It was the premined coins. That's why i0coin was created in the first place! The "0" in i0coin stands for 0 coins premined. i0coin == ixcoin with 0 coins premined. Who wants to create t0nebrix? |

Given that there are 7,700,000 premined coins in this chain and the target is 7200 coins per day (25 coins per block * 12 blocks/hr * 24 hours=7200 coins)...and 7,700,00 / 7200 = 1069 days until the network catches up to the number of premined coins....hmmm 3 years.
Well, I just got bored of arguing with a bunch of dudes in PM about how much should I premine and decided to use same number (as a matter of fact, same string) I used for Geist GeistGeld creates 40320 coins every day. It will take 7.7MM / 40320 = 191 days for the network to catch up. Ixcoin creates 13824 coins every day. It will take 580K / 13824 = 42 days for the network to catch up. 3 years is a ridiculously long time. You probably should have listened to people's advice to not premine this many coins. It's hard for people to take this coin seriously if it takes 3 years before you have less than 50% of the total coins. |

Is Bitcoin a centralized currency such that Gavin calls all the shots and can rewrite the chain / dispense BTC as he pleases? I think not. Why does he have the power to shutdown the currency? Why does he get to decide who's solidcoins get transferred to the SC 2.0 and who's doesn't? Sure mooncoin might be a scam, but why does CoinHunter get to be judge, jury, and executioner? What's more ridiculous is he posted on the solidcoin forums asking people for deposit address that they used for mooncoin. So does he plan to revert those deposits just based on one person's claim? What if I sent you a ton of solidcoins (to buy something) and then posted that deposit address on that forum post? CoinHunter would have no idea that the deposit address belongs to mooncoin or not. If he reverts that transaction in SC 2.0, I just double spent those coins. Will he then fix that in SC 3.0? This whole thing is ridiculous. |
