1421  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Jake Paul vs Tommy Fury - February 26 in Saudi Arabia on: February 17, 2023, 05:40:32 PM
I'm sure there's some site that collects them all or groups them into overall categories but there's lots of different governing bodies so it's best to check their individual pages. WBC is the board that have offered the ranking for this fight: https://box.live/world-rankings/wbc/

When they say he will be ranked I'm not sure exactly what that means or what the criteria is for getting on the ranked list. Maybe he will go into the top 100 or 50 or something. Hopefully they don't mean the top 15 which is usually the best of the best and those are the ones that can challenge for titles. Jake is a Cruiserweight I think and the lowest amount of fights I can see in the top 15 fights total. Someone just dropped out of the top 15 with only 11 fights so Jake has a long way to go but he could probably get there eventually.
Boxing rankings have always alluded me. They've never really made any logical sense, and seem to be just some made up crap. Whereas, at least in the UFC you have to beat higher ranked fighters to move up, it seems in boxing you can continue to fight people below you, and go up. I ditched caring about the rankings years ago, at least in boxing.

I can see Jake being top 15 quality though. Obviously, I'm doing it by hearsay, and not actually relying on the official rankings there, but he has decent technique, and seems to have a dedication that goes beyond some of the professional boxers that have made this their life.

Let's see if he gets past Tommy first though, if he doesn't that could be a serious spanner in his plans, because ultimately it's the first real boxer he's faced, even though personally I think he's more than satisfied with the quality of opposition this early in his career. Definitely, better than most boxers that look to pad their records.

Yes, it's fair to say that the rankings are not that really accurate and the basis isn't that kind of established to know how these boxers climbs the said rankings per governing body. But there are still some advantage of this rankings because if ever there will be a title eliminator or a challenge, we can somehow guess who will be the boxers as the ranks tells that they are next in line. For me, it's like a they are just queuing actually.
1422  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Advantage of holding Bitcoin in time of crisis on: February 17, 2023, 03:42:18 PM
Bitcoin is the best alternative way to save money, with Bitcoin you have control over your savings because it's your wallet and your key and you are your banks!

Best alternative indeed, that is the legacy of the creator, Satoshi Nakamoto. As the creator's first and foremost aim is to give the people new options to hedge themselves against the inflation. Now I know there are some risks entailed investing with it but it's somehow manageable rather than sitting doing nothing while watching your money depreciate. Be your own bank, as they said.

I bet bitcoin has been actually really helpful to the people of Russia especially this time where their country is under pressure from the UN, it's the best alternative to preserve your wealth and even get profits from it.
1423  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Boxing: Nonito Donaire vs Jason Moloney on: February 16, 2023, 07:32:54 PM
Good news everyone, the waiting time is over for Donaire.

WBC approves Nonito Donaire vs Alejandro Santiago for vacant bantamweight title

In case you missed who Alejandro is or also known as Pique, he was the one who snatched Jerwin Ancajas's IBF belt and the man who defeated Gary Russell in a majority decision.
Here's his record: https://boxrec.com/en/box-pro/637333

1424  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: February 16, 2023, 06:44:12 PM
In tomorrow's 2023 NBA Season game New Orleans vs LA Lakers I want to place a bet on Orleans and I have confidence that I will win the bet because if you look at the previous game Orlans beat the Lakers.
Also here are many following the bet on the match and does anyone have the same faith as me by betting on Orlans?
Lebron James, AD, and CJ are all questionable for this game. The best way to bet is when there is final news about these stars or even at game time. They're just too big of a factor in this game. IF CJ won't play and either Bron or AD can play then it is most likely that the Lakers will win. And take note that the Pelicans are only 10-18 when it comes to road games. If you want to bet now, the Lakers is the safest IMO. The Lakers are playing at home too.
Anyways, I only have 1 bet for tomorrow's games. I am rooting for the Miami Heat to beat the Brooklyn Nets. Decent odds too since Miami is playing on the road.

I feel like even though the overall performance is better for the Pelicans, I think right now the safe choice is going to be the Lakers. Because I feel like the Lakers have actually improved compared to how they had been playing before. And home conditions are also going to favor the Lakers.

But at the same time the Lakers have also been pretty inconsistent right now. Therefore, I think the only reason why I am willing to choose the Lakers is because they are playing in home condition.

Regards

Duke

It seems you pointed it out correctly here mate and I hope you placed some few spare bucks in-favor of the Lakers because they have won the game earlier versus the Pelicans with an 18-point margin. Lebron and AD of course are the biggest contributor but ever since D'Angelo Russell came to the Lakers, the team got a big help because the man can really shoot the ball and this time, he too gave a 20+ points to the team as well as the players mentioned.

Their next game is with the Warriors and the Lakers will host the game, this will be fun to watch. By the way, things are getting pretty hectic for the Lakers as they need to win 16 games in their last 24 games of the regular season to qualify for the Play-in.
1425  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: FIFA World Cup 2026 :Canada/Mexico/United States: Discussion Thread on: February 15, 2023, 06:18:56 PM
I wonder what Argentina can achieve in next world cup in 2026. Their main players were already old at world cup in Qatar. In past Argentina squad was far better mix of young talents with experienced star players. I don't deny they will still be competitive but their squad quality may drop drastically. Brazil will always be candidate to title on the other hand. South America continent may be dominated by Brazil in coming years.

I think they will still be an early favorites including Portugal and Brazil. Although their stars may not with the team anymore especially for Messi and CR7 as that might be their last world cup but I guess their team can still give a hard time to the other national teams. But every team that will participate in the upcoming World Cup still have a lot of time to prepare and maybe there will be an improvement this time especially for the teams who failed recently, an experienced team will still make a difference, especially for the France.
1426  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: NBA 2020-2021 betting on: February 15, 2023, 12:36:09 PM

Here are the results of my bets.
Toronto Raptors - Orlando Magic = Orlando Magic @ 3.40
- Lost. I thought that the Magic can steal one on the road. They manage to take the lead, but loss by double digits.
Milwaukee Bucks - Boston Celtics = Milwaukee Bucks (-7.5) @1.61
- Lost with this bet, but I put a bet during the game with the Bucks winning the game and I won so overall, I won with this game.

I was able to bet on these games, won the Raptors game while losing on the Bucks game. Didn't expect that Celtics will make it a very close game, they almost upset the home team but good thing the game went over, in the OT, it was still the Celtics who had an early lead, but the Bucks did come back to complete a win.

About the Raptors game, on paper, the Magic looks great because they have won their past games, but the actual, Raptors took control of the game in the 2nd half, won, and cover the spread too.

Well, that was a breathtaking game and you cannot honestly watch that kind of game every day where most of the bench players from the Celtics are playing but still almost defeated the home team which got their superstars playing with them. Giannis and Holiday need to step-up their game further because that game was almost close.

I see that we have lots of games again tomorrow, have you guys made yours? Well, here my early picks.

Indiana Pacers -2.5
Miami Heat -1
Boston Celtics -8
1427  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Boxing: Nonito Donaire vs Jason Moloney on: February 14, 2023, 06:27:50 AM
Ok, it seems that Donaire will have to wait for his next opponent, the WBC has ordered Nawaphon Kaikhana vs Reymart Gaballo as eliminator and winner facing Donaire for the belt.

Quote
Kaikanha and Gaballo are ranked number-three and number-four, respectively, though clearly not next in line as they will instead face each other in a bid to become mandatory challenger.

https://www.boxingscene.com/nawaphon-kaikhana-reymart-gaballo-wbc-bantamweight-eliminator-eyed-us--172443

I thought it will be Nawaphon Kaikanha (Sor Rungvisai) for the title or even Emmanuel Rodriguez. But since this fighters are rank 3 and 4, they will have to go to a title eliminator before facing Donaire.

Looking at this information, there is a huge possibility that Donaire will be facing Gaballo for the vacant title.  If that happens, this fight might be a rematch since they had faced each other last Dec. 2021 where Nonito won via KO in round 4 if I am not mistaken.

It looks like a favorable fight for Donaire, even if he has to fight Nawaphon Kaikhana who lost to Jason Moloney via unanimous decision, I think Donaire still has the advantage.

Well, that indeed means that Nonito Donaire's chances to become a champion once again is going much higher this time as Reymart Gaballo won't be a threat to Donaire as he was the one who gave Gaballo his first knockout and defeat in his career. But for the Thai boxer, I wonder if he can give a good fight because his defeat against Moloney wasn't as bad as it was just a regular unanimous decision. Either way, I still think that Donaire got a chance because the two contenders are more of a local to me, I mean, just look at their records.
1428  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: February 14, 2023, 03:05:34 AM
It's already time for Melo to leave this team and it's already stopped. I don't have a problem with Melo either, he was a very high level player in his old days, now he can't contribute even if he wanted to, I think he should leave the team. A little change will be useful for the Lakers, Lebron James's time is running out, he can no longer find the same rhythm in every game, even if he finds it, he will not find it in the future.
If he still got the contract with the Lakers, there's no way for him to leave and violate the contract. The team has all the means to whether use him or not with every game that they have. It's just sad that when a player like him that has been one of the superstars before, doesn't get a playing time anymore and when the contract expires then possible that there will be no renewal for him anymore. He can be part of the coaching staff and just like the other veteran NBA players got, still they're able to work with their passion and sport that they love.

If given that chance, he can continue working with the team, if it's already done with his career maybe sitting as a coach or assistant coach
will fit for him, he got the talent that he can share with the newcomers.

Like what you mentioned, there are veteran stars who became a successful coach after playing and if Melo will have that chance/opportunity
then it's a good to grab.

But the thing is, there are no teams right now in the league who seems interested to get Melo whether if they need someone from the coaching staff or as a player. It's unfortunate to see him now that he's like waiting for nothing and sooner, he will become a forgotten all-star player and will only remember on his prime years and not what he did afterwards. Maybe soon, he can have a special seat again in the league, hopefully.
1429  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Does Bitcoin have life span? on: February 14, 2023, 02:45:26 AM
Yes, bitcoin has a lifespan, but we don't need to worry because I think with increasing demand for bitcoin, the life span can last hundreds of years, and we won't be alive, so there is no need to worry about that. Think how long you live and until you die, how many bitcoins you will have to give to your children, that is what matters.

Truth is, we don't really know about that whether if bitcoin has a lifespan or not and you're right actually that if ever bitcoin has an end in the future, we won't be around that time anymore to witness the bitcoin's tragic end. What's more important is what we have now and in the upcoming years, let's just try to acquire some bitcoins and even altcoins while we can because its future is still promising enough to deny.
1430  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Helped my neighbor to purchase some Bitcoins on: February 13, 2023, 07:45:27 PM
Honestly, if I were you, I wouldn't agree to buy bitcoins for him, he said he was ready to take the risk and take responsibility because he was very excited and wanted to own bitcoin at the time. Maybe you mention the risks, but he won't understand because he hasn't experienced it, and if unfortunately, the investment loses, he will most likely come back to blame you because it was you who took the money to buy bitcoins, not him.

Try to teach him all the necessary knowledge about bitcoin so that he better understands the pros and cons of investing in bitcoin, only when he understands it can't blame you.
Although I must commend you on your own efforts from teaching and guiding him in his crypto journey, but you should have introduced him first into the bitcointalk forum so that he will know eventually how risky it is to invest in bitcoin. Afterwards, after he understood about bitcoin investment and he’s still willing to invest, that could be the perfect time to purchase his first bitcoin with his own money. And not that he purchased first and then gained knowledge after because it’s like he is likely to blame you in the future when his investment turns out into failure.
1431  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Ego and too much confidence are dangerous in investing. on: February 13, 2023, 07:15:23 PM
2021 I started my journey here in crypto, I was lucky because I was able to invest in other cryptos before it went all the way up. NFTs, P2E games, airdrops and hyped shitcoins lol. Of course I earned a lot and since it's my first time I became very confident thinking I'm so smart lol Grin. I have more money to spare, so I end up investing left and right carelessly thinking i will earn more but the truth is majority of those i have invested are lost money because of bear market, scam projects and rugpulled shitcoins. I think I am not for crypto Sad.
Sometimes, too much confidence will never do good when investing. That is why it’s important to always invest with caution, otherwise you will be outsmart by the market and eventually see yourself at the losing end. But I believe this is something that is so easy to say but actually hard to be done since a lot of us will fall having the same mentality when we see ourselves already winning from the start. So never be too confident especially when we are dealing with risky investments.
1432  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Crypto Currency trading without knowledge on: February 13, 2023, 06:39:52 PM

Well, you gotta start trading to gain knowledge as well. After a few readings, you gotta take action and be on the game already, you can't just keep reading. A little bit of knowledge like once you have set up your tradingview with a minimum of 3 indicators, would be enough as a basis for your trading decision.

You gain knowledge as you lose and win along your journey to trading crypto.
Experience will always be the best teacher after all as it’s considered the application based on your gained knowledge, and definitely will improve your knowledge as well. However, trading with no prior knowledge even from merely reading or watching trading videos will never be advisable because surely it’s never gonna work and all you will gain are just mistakes and losses. Even if you have the passion to trade but with no ideas on how to do it because you have not gained any knowledge from the start, then it’s best to never start trading.
1433  Economy / Economics / Re: Can one achieve financial independence through crypto currency? on: February 13, 2023, 06:12:20 PM
The popularity of crypto currencies has been on the rise in recent years and many people are drawn to them as a means to achieveing goal of financial freedom.
Additionally, the decentralization and global nature of crypto currencies like Bitcoin, Ethereum and others, have made them an attractive option for those who want to take control their financial future and want to avoid traditional banks and financial institutions. They can also provide hedge against inflation and currency devaluation.

Given these factors, the dream of financial freedom can come true by using crypto currency?
Well, we cannot deny the fact that some have been making fortune with crypto investments and these news are widely seen featured in the internet or in social media. Hence, it’s a good proof that crypto paved its way for financial freedom and financial prosperity. But I would not say that all of those who venture into crypto are now making 6-9 digits as their earnings, of course there are some who succeed while others also end in failure. It’s still a business, so it’s a matter of win and lose in the end.
1434  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: People will choose bitcoins more if the number of cryptocurrency option is less. on: February 13, 2023, 05:24:47 PM
I felt like seeing a movie and opened my streaming app (Netflix) to make a selection of a movie to see and I became confused which to select because of the many choices that I saw. I immediately had this thought that it is the same way people who have the interest of investing in cryptocurrency become confused the one to invest in when they find out that there is bitcoin and many other altcoins. Many people become confused and make mistakes because of the many options they have in cryptocurrency, they fail to invest in bitcoins because they think that there are many other very good options. Do you agree that more people will choose to invest in bitcoins if there were not so many cryptocurrency choices although not all are good?
If you are a newbie investor, maybe that would be your way of thinking since you are not yet familiar with crypto market and has no real experience in crypto investing. But for veterans in crypto, regardless of how many altcoins that seem too good to be true, they will always chase for bitcoin and focus on it as their biggest investment. Because you know exactly how potential bitcoin is and how profitable it will be in the future, so you will never be tempted to invest in other crypto coins. Although diversification is good and advisable, but sticking to bitcoin is never bad if you really aim for a huge and maximum returns.
1435  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: When to sell bitcoin before the next bear market starts? on: February 12, 2023, 09:40:31 PM
No one knows what the best time would be. Because if we knew, we'd all be rich already. Obviously markets don't work that way; and if everyone had a price target of selling and the price target is close to each other, bitcoin would immediately crash from that pricepoint.
This is true, we can only predict but there is no guarantees that it will be the best time to sell as the market condition is never fixed due to its volatility. But I would say that if you want to sell for decent amount of profits, never sell your bitcoin when the price is still starting to surge high. Wait until a new ATH is being reached, that way you will get an assurance that if you want to sell, you’ll likely to get huge profits.
1436  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Boxing: Nonito Donaire vs Jason Moloney on: February 11, 2023, 10:07:36 PM
even if he losses this one, he might have a last chance to go and fight for the belt in other division. This is just WBC, there are still bodies that he is rank.

Not sure about that. Nonito Donaire might only have a clear shot at the WBC Bantamweight Title as he's ranked 1 here.

WBC, WBO, and IBF, he is not even ranked in the Top 3 contenders that's why he might nit be considered to get a title match here.

After Moloney withdrew from their fight, there are no clear plans yet for where Donaire's career is heading to.

Yes and that is the only thing holding Nonito Donaire on fighting directly on a title shot after Naoya Inoue vacated the belts, WBC is the nearest belt he could earn. I bet his team and Donaire was somehow pissed after knowing that Moloney won't consider this fight anymore a that would also mean that they will waste some more time finding other dance partner for Donaire to resume this title bout.

And for the WBA, WBO and IBF. Donaire's name will only be named to fight for the vacated belt if the same thing happens to the mandatory boxers.
1437  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: FIFA World Cup 2026 :Canada/Mexico/United States: Discussion Thread on: February 11, 2023, 09:45:58 PM
~snip~
Surely we all know about Brazilian quality but right now things are not working for them with last time they won in 2002 after this they are facing humiliations as well and their player's coordination is also now biggest problem for them with quality is still amazing and talent is also unanimous with this all now if Brazilian Soccer Federation wants to have better results then surely they can bring this rule even just for experiment and hire any coach from European Union for the next four years and then check the change because most chance they will be improved and having better changes which will help them for having another good time in soccer for their country.

I mean, Brazil is the only team in the world that has qualified to every single World Cup in history.

Also, they have won it five times, the current record.

Plus, they are at number one in the FIFA ranking today.

Yeah, I think they'll manage  Grin
Honestly, I would like to see Brazil be champions once again in a world cup.
But I don't know if that will happen.
Football around the world has evolved a lot
You guys just reminded me of the Old days, back in my childhood days, Brazil was the best country in terms of football, they were the ones that were always taking the world cup home year after year.
But today. Alot have changed really, many countries now have alot of good players that have helped leveled the playing ground.

And also, why exactly should I wish Brazil to win the world cup again if I'm not a Brazilian?  Grin
I wish my country win the world cup, but if any other country wins, no big deal.

Yes, I'm as well guilty about that as I can't help myself but to reminisce about how great Brazil was in the past and they are the ones who I frequently see winning and taking home the championship. I guess that also mean that we're quite old already too because somehow that was back in the early 2000s Grin

But let's just be happy for what happened as time goes by because whether we like or not, every sports including football will always evolve in almost every decade. But still, Brazil was also a slight favorite in the recent World Cup, they aren't that much forgotten as they always produced talented players in their nation.
1438  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The biggest casino property... on: February 11, 2023, 09:12:36 PM
There are also a lot of Chinese whales in 3 of the biggest casinos in the Philippines, there were even hearings about it and some junket related to other hacks if my memory serves me right.

As for Marina Bay, yeah it is one of the biggest in Asia that time and the design of it is unique.

And I believed up to this day, still one of the renowned not just in Asia but in the world.

I guess that's already expected given that these kind of business is not that very honest as in the first place, their goal is to make money and not to give advantage to the bettors to make money as that will also means losses to them. All of these things are becoming normal but the issues won't be floating that long as these whales and big time business magnets surely have their own respective influence.

Truly, Marina Bay Sands in Singapore is very famous. If you're thinking for a casino in the Southeast Asia, Marina Bay would be the suitable place but for Northern part of Asia, you got Las Vegas of Asia which is in Macau, China.
There’s a lot of money in Casinos and Philippines is very active as a gambler that’s why they are all fighting just to get what is right for them, imagine a family casino business turns out into a big issues when it comes to ownership.

Anyway, Marina Bay seems to be one of the luxury Casino in Asia since Singapore is a rich country and other things there are expensive as well, haven’t tried visiting that place yet but hopefully in the next bull run.

Philippines will always have a big number of gamblers so no wonder why there foreign whales that put up a business in the said country. They are also open and don't have much restrictions for foreign gamblers so they can build a casino easily.
I've only watched videos about Marina bay before and I find it luxurious and expensive but I'm also hoping to visit it someday.

The thing is, Philippines is not that tight and restricts foreign groups to have their own business as the law only says that they aren't allowed to own 100% of the corporation. What happened is they will just hire a random business guy who knows his way to every laws and business in the country and that same guy will run the business for the foreigners and that's just like the same thing as they are just owning the business behind curtains as they are just hiring that stated guy to run their businesses for them.
1439  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: February 11, 2023, 08:42:02 PM
Of course the biggest winner in this year's trade is Suns and I would say that Lakers is second.

Suns being called the biggest winner of that trade I guess shouldn't be the right term to be used. Don't just look at the status of how big the name Kevin Durant is but the Nets for me are the winner of that trade by looking at those several young prospects they got that might have good potential in the future. Durant can't even carry the Nets to a good position since he joined the team and you expect him to be a game-changer for the Suns?

The Suns are already good but since Durant shows interest to join the team, they grab it and it happened that they also want to ship Jae Crowder.

I don't even see and considered the Suns as a big threat to most teams. It's like just a usual day of trade in the NBA lol.

So I guess everyone should be considered a winner since every team that deal with a trade is looking for their team to level up.

Durant to Phoenix
Kyrie to Mavs
Nets winning with Spencer and Cam Thomas
Lakers did have a lot of good players to team up with Lebron

So yeah, everyone is a winner in this trade and its hard to grade them.

Well, I think as of now yes, but I think that will change in the following days or weeks when they start playing with their respective teams especially the Suns for having a strong starting five, but what about their role players? I think it will be a huge struggle for them if Durant and Booker will be injured as they already freed their role players for the recent trade. Aside from the Suns, I'm also excited about the Utah Jazz who now have Westbrook.
1440  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Jake Paul vs Tommy Fury - February 26 in Saudi Arabia on: February 11, 2023, 08:04:29 AM
I hope that Tommy Fury is dying in the gym right now, that is the only acceptable excuse for not showing at face-offs. Tommy wants to focus more in training, then loosing time trash talking with Jake during conference. On the other hand, Jake is the only one now who is trying to sell their fight. If this fight really happens (which I start to doubt), wish Jake gets bigger purse.

Dont want Jake to fight Derek Chisora. Because I believe their fight is going to fixed. If Jake wins, Chisora is turning into a clown. He is sort of a old boxer with sound name, who is there only to make bigger sales, and he is not aimed to win.

Same here mate, I sure do hope that he's literally doing what he is saying and not just making up excuses again just like he used to in the past. And speaking of his unprofessionalism in the recent face-off, my doubts are starting to get bigger and bigger as their schedule is fast approaching because of what he did just recently and I can't honestly deny that at the back of my mind, I'm already expecting the situation where he will suddenly withdraw from the fight.
