Also note: the lop-sidedness of this particular seemingly too short of a deadline vote remains quite apparent, it is almost as lopsideness of the logic of the blocksize debate.. (had to get a lil dig in there at Richy_T) go figure..

It was just a quick straw poll. Didn't want to make a huge production of it. I was just heading out to play in the pool for the first time and was planning on coming back in at 5 Cheesy

Wait a minute, ChartBuddy.  I am in Central time too!  Somewhat south of OK.

Central is a huge timezone. When I worked for a national company, seemed like I was always talking to people on Central. It goes all the way to the very west of texas except for the very tip of the west of the state which caused me some hassle a while back.
1423  Economy / Speculation / Re: Chartbuddy Yes on: May 20, 2021, 10:50:17 PM
Agree.  And I do not think counting multiples from a single source is fair.  Just an aggregate of unique posters.  I did give 10 merits.  So I am speaking against any advantage given by that.  But I also see it as worth 10 merits.  I understand not everyone feels it, but I thin CB is a strong net positive.

I could have gone with max 1 but I did want to give anyone who felt strongly about it the chance to be heard. I was half expecting Arriemoller to drop 500 merits Cheesy
1424  Economy / Speculation / Re: Chartbuddy Yes on: May 20, 2021, 10:46:50 PM
I'll have Chartbuddy merit everyone back on both posts (up to 200 merits total)

Don't merit back... this kind of merit "trading" is usually frowned upon since merit is supposed to be used for good posts, not to pay someone back.

Come to think of it, even voting via merit is kinda sketchy but at least those yes/no posts could arguably be considered "good".

Haha, you all fell for my huge merit-harvesting scam!

J/K. Just didn't want people out of merits on this. Chartbuddy has plenty of merits to spare too. Merits only get half-credits as well so it's not zero sum. I went for merits because they actually have some (marginal) value and I think voting tends to work best when people have skin in the game.

Though I have one complain...   PLEASE let xhomerx10 gear/HAT chartbuddy up and Gogogogo

Before xhomerx10 starts warming up his tablet, I'll just point out that Chartbuddy is overdue for a makeover so anything based on the current avatar will likely be short-lived. Also I'm quite particular that the red/green blue eyes are correctly arrayed.
1426  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: May 20, 2021, 07:52:09 PM
I'm too "young" here to have really experienced ChartBuddy's posts, so just a suggestion: can the frequency of ChartBuddy be adjusted based on how active the topic is? There's not really a point of having 20 graphs on a page if nobody else posts.
But if there's a lot of activity in this topic, that usually means there's a lot of activity in the market, which means more frequent ChartBuddy posts would be a good thing!
So: how about one graph every N posts in this topic? I'd be more than happy to create a post counter somewhere on loyce.club so the bot can easily keep track of when to post.

Believe me, I've tried to work out how to implement such a scheme and it just can't work well. Chartbuddy's output is about the market and not based on the volume of this thread. Longer times between posts don't work either since any big moves which are reported three hours later are old news and in any case, compressing three or four hours of data onto a chart makes it useless. So basically, not going to happen. Not because I'm ideologically opposed to it, it's just not a good use of my time. (Edit: a separate thread ain't gonna work either. It's been tried).

I've considered other options such as ON/OFF bitcoin addresses (now made infeasible by high fees), in-comment voting (possibly restricted to legendaries) and other similarly Rube-Goldberg type schemes. My latest is to have on/off posts which are weighted by merit. I think though that the most reasonable option is going to be making Chartbuddy invokable (again, limited to legendaries). I'm sure I'll get around to it sometime.

I just turned Chartbuddy on quick because, y'know big price moves and all but it appears that some people have PTSV from the robot wars.

The reason I don't like CB is the fact that it's just posting a chart, information that I or anybody else can and do look up ourselves when we need it, it feels like force feeding something I don't want to be fed.

I will point out that Chartbuddy actually aggregates an hour's worth of data into a 3d chart which allows for movements and wall changes to be visualized in a way that's otherwise not intuitive. Which is not to dismiss your annoyance, just to point out that it's not just chart regurgitation.
1428  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: May 20, 2021, 04:17:13 PM
My tolerance for whining is zero right now so I shut Chartbuddy off. I notice also that the price dropped after I did so so draw your own conclusions.
1429  Economy / Speculation / Re: Automated posting on: May 20, 2021, 02:12:23 PM
Looks better with black background.

I will bear it in mind. This was a minimal effort resurrection.
1430  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: May 20, 2021, 02:10:42 PM

Wow. And to think that, soon, many (most?) Bitcoin HoDLer wannabes won't be able to own even 1 BTC... What a waste.

Soon? Already the case and has been for a while. Unless... I wonder if financing buying Bitcoin could be a thing. Kinda like DCA but for the less disciplined.
1431  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: May 20, 2021, 01:48:05 PM
on the last 7 seven tokens added to kraken, 7 are erc-20 ethereum token and god know many there are
Is that it lol, every dumbass can create a contract and launch a useless token ?

i love trading but man crypto is so shallow and absurd you can't deny that speculation is the dumbest thing on earth even if your in it, especially if your in it seeing it live actually haha

I remember back in the day that someone was talking about making a version of the Bitcoin code where you could just change a few configuration options and create a completely new coin. It almost feels like that happened (a few coins claim to have unique properties but it seems most are just money grabs)

Bitcointalk offers a link for captcha-less login that works only for a specific user.
It has the form

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=login;ccode=xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Could that help?

Sadly appears to be broken Sad

Edit: Oh wait, nevermind. Their description of how to use it is awful.

Amazon (UK at least) seems f*cked up trying to find these:

Those are terrible. No flavor and however long you cook them, they don't get soft enough.

I take back everything I said about the high 50s.
1435  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: May 20, 2021, 12:07:01 AM
Oh come on now don't fib, no one actually reads a Jay post all the way through, I'm not saying he doesn't make points but it's like an email, you skim it.

I wonder if we could get one of those comment summarization bots working.
1436  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: May 19, 2021, 07:39:35 PM
In retrospect this was inevitable. Doge circus was a great indicator that cryptospace was overheating and turning into a lottery, bitcoin also got dragged into it. This is a needed cyclical forest fire to clean up the shrubs so the trees can grow again.

Good point. I was looking for the FOMO but it appears I was looking in the wrong place. Hindsight is 20-20 and all that.

Same gif, different context Sad

Is something missing, such as a link?  #justsaying

Another reason to have chart buddy.. so that we have ongoing posts during depressing times like these..

You joke but I do think ol' CB helped keep the thread rolling sometimes. Of course, I am a bit biased for sure.

Posting so the last sentence on the forum isn't about JJG's dog's butt...

Oh wait...

(Glad your doggy is fine JJG.)
