1441  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Sports betting fraud in Brazil 😦 on: February 21, 2023, 10:45:33 PM
Hate to say this, but match fixing will never end, because people are always chasing for money and do whatever means necessary to take advantage of the system's flaws.
Fixed match benefits everyone in the league, especially when there's a huge betting in the line. Sports now a days in more of a business than an actual sport, so it will not going to surprise me if these athletes are not different than an actors/actresses who will play their role what they're told and the match is just a big act as if they're playing real ball, but the result is deliberate.

I agree with you, it's something you can't protect yourself from, but it's possible to minimize the risks.
The best that can be done is to legalize gambling in countries, because if something is prohibited or poorly regulated, bettors have to resort to clandestine sites that generally have a low reputation and a high probability of manipulation of results.
However, when there is strong regulation, inspection is easier, bets are more "transparent" and auditable, and fraudsters are more at risk of committing crimes.

The second point is a responsibility of the bettors: if there is already a regulated market, bets must be placed on sites that have a reputation and follow the rules.
Generally, these sites are the first to report irregularities in betting to the authorities, keeping reputable bettors safer from fraud.
1442  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [POLL] Using AI to predict outcomes on: February 21, 2023, 10:38:13 PM
Yes, it's true.

The current AI is not a general artificial intelligence. It's simply a great conversation generator based on some training data.

This means that you should take any inputs you get from chatGPT (or similar) with caution, as many of the things it says are not even factual.

The problem is that it looks and sounds as if the thing actually knows what it's talking about, because it sounds authoritative, and mixed with actual facts.

Lots of fake news will be generated with this.

ChatGPT is obviously not a good tool to use as a betting tool, firstly because its information base was discontinued in 2021, so it cannot tell you about the results of the championships that are currently taking place.
Second, because chatGPT was not made for this purpose. As you said yourself, it was created with the intention of talking to people and learning to have a fluent language.

However, I have no doubt that an artificial intelligence programmed to help in sports betting could have hits well above average if it were used for this purpose.
Leaving emotions aside, working only with numbers, statistics and probabilities would greatly increase the chances of getting a result right.

I'm sure many betting sites are on a quest for such a tool to maximize house winnings, and players as well.

Napoli won both halves even when they missed a chance from the Spot kick earlier in the first half, let's watch what the second legs brings , if there Will be another upset.

This expressive result playing away from home guaranteed an even greater advantage for Napoli, which now has 56 points, that is... 16 points ahead of Inter Milan.

Osimhen showed today why he is the league's top scorer... with today's two goals, he reached the target of 16 goals, and obviously this was only possible because of the excellent assistance he received from Kvaratskhelia, or better... " Kvaradona", because the fans like to compare him to Maradona.

Will Napoli really win an Italian Championship again after more than 30 years? I believe so.

1448  Local / Português (Portuguese) / Re: Ordinals: NFTs totalmente onchain na rede do Bitcoin on: February 18, 2023, 01:03:49 AM

1449  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: FIFA World Cup 2026 :Canada/Mexico/United States: Discussion Thread on: February 18, 2023, 12:52:00 AM
Qatar didn't beat Argentina in the World Cup. They played really badly and it was evident that they don't have the quality to play against top teams of the world. They played four games in the group stage and managed to score only one goal against Senegal.

But I see your point. Playing at home often makes players give an extra effort for the fans and then surprises can happen. But sadly that didn't work out for Qatar.

Qatar is a team that has no tradition in football, so it is not possible to expect that they would do very well, and even less against Argentina, which in the end ended up being champions.

But look at the World Cup that took place in South Africa, it's a country that plays football a lot, and even then they didn't manage to go very far.
Playing at home means nothing when it comes to "higher odds".

The fact is that every World Cup has its surprises, even those that are played in the territories most used to football. In Brazil, for example, who doesn't remember Costa Rica defeating Italy and ranking first in a group that also had the world champions Uruguay and England?

Football is a very unpredictable sport when it comes to the world cup.

source: https://www.football.london/chelsea-fc/transfer-news/neymar-chelsea-transfer-takes-next-26264365

The chance for neymar to join with chelsea becomes even bigger now since todd faces neymar's agent directly. It's now not just a rumor but let's see what deals that will be meet by both of parties. Im sure that neymar was planning to get a new club.

The French press was betting that the Brazilian Neymar would go to a "second tier" team, but I believe that most here are surprised to learn that Chelsea are willing to pay very well to have this player in their squad. Not bad for the most expensive player in football history to date. But is Neymar still worth so much?
Speaking of numbers... Chelsea will pay (at least they are willing to do so, nothing is certain yet) 60 million euros for Neymar who is now 31 years old ("old" player). It's still 4 times less than the €222m PSG paid in 2017, but it looks like the Parisian club is quite happy with that amount.
Arsenal were paying "only" €50m, so they ended up having their offer waived.

Preciso me aprofundar mais nesse assunto.

I am not a fan for slot and I don't even play them because I don't have good knowledge many of the slot games I do see people playing. Slot can be very interesting to play but I do prefer playing sport bets which is an easier way to earn good amount of money. Since sportbets can easily be predicted and the house does not have a say on on winning.

I can't even be tempted to play with a zeal that can end up making me to lose, that is why I always stick to what I know best so I will not be too carried away from people's results to bets on other people results.

I'm not a big fan of slot machines either, but I respect their addictive power to entertain a person.

I'm a big fan of sports games, but I confess that sometimes I "get tired" of having to research the games, read the news and odds... many times I end up playing purely on luck or else I'm going to "spend" my money on games like hunt- slots where I just need to set a simple strategy and you press a few buttons to see the magic happen.

It is indeed quite pleasurable for the moments when "laziness dominates my body".
Obviously these aren't moments to earn money, just to "pass the time".

Is it possible that Carlo Ancelotti is preparing for a big transfer?

I think so, there are strong indications that this should happen and I don't see anything against it... quite the contrary, as Real Madrid agrees to release Ancelotti after June and the Brazilian team also accepts waiting until then.
For now, the Brazilian team has already appointed Ramon Menezes as interim coach.
Staff's trip to Brazil is also a great indication that this should come to fruition.
Ancelotti also has a very good resume that the Brazilian team is looking for.
Still, in the last press interviews, what was most asked about Ancelotti's interest in Brazil, and he never vehemently denied it, always in a joking tone. Also, he has a strong connection with former Brazilian players, such as Kaká and Ronaldo Fenômeno.
The Spanish language is also a "facilitator" for Ancelotti to play his role in Brazil without major communication problems with Brazilian players and officials.

Hey, OP, as long as you've been on the forum, you should know better than to include a link to the news item. I guess the news is in Portuguese? I've searched and I don't see anything about it but I did find this which is relevant to the general match fixing problem

I'm sorry, my intention was to post the link, but I ended up forgetting when I finished writing the post with my arguments about this news.

Better late than never... follow the reference (in Portuguese): https://www.metropoles.com/brasil/apostadores-teriam-lucro-de-r-2-milhoes-com-fraude-em-jogo-da-serie-b

Brazil have got the largest gambling market in Latin America. The same is being used by the frauds to make good money bribing the players. This is being well organised and are operating as gangs. Lawmakers need to be very careful and they should act fast and assure of such incidents won't happen anymore. In reality the politicians aren't much concerned about it. As mentioned this will truly affect the sporting industry as the audience watch with the mind, is it real game or fixed one.

I believe that... as gambling is prohibited in Brazil, politicians are not bothering too much about curbing this type of crime with the intention of making bets safer.

In fact they are using news like this to tell the population that gambling is something very risky, they are saying that it is a "criminal" thing and that nobody should spend their money on it.

Unfortunately, I think this political mentality around gambling will take time to change in Brazil

1457  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Bitcoin gambling problem on: February 16, 2023, 01:09:04 AM
Hi!
A few days ago, we were contacted by a platform helping people with gambling problems.
It's an online international platform with courses, self-assessment tests, videos, and a big community of ex gamblers.
I know there are people here that gamble too much, it's easily done. If you have problems, contact them. All their services are free to use.
I thought it was a good resource to share here. You find the platform here: https://quitgamble.com.

May the force be with you!
/A

their purpose really is very remarkable and glorious, however I have serious doubts if a remote assistance/assistance can really help a person addicted to gambling to change his mindset.

Take a good look... if a drug, alcohol or cigarette addict wants to try to stop his addiction, what is essential for him to do?
It is necessary that he stop going to places that could lead him to fall into temptation.

Now think with me... what is the main place that a gambling addict can fall into temptation? Answer: On a computer or mobile phone connected to the internet.
Enderam? This is the kind of help that in my opinion would need to be provided away from something that is connected to the internet.

I'll really appreciate to have you share some advise on what decision to take if you were to find yourself in this my cousin shoe. For It's been a difficult moment for him this past two days as he has  been thinking of the financial support he at times get from the gambling wins and at same time his fiancee too.

Welll, i think the gambling can be a source of conflict in a romantic relationship, particularly if one partner is concerned about the other's gambling behavior, beacause while it may be possible to reconcile gambling in a relationship, always it requires open communication and an mutual understanding and a willingness to work together to address any issues that may arise. But, If one partner has concerns about the other's gambling behavior, than it's important to express those concerns in a non-judgmental way and too listen to the other person's perspective and It's too may be helpful to seek the assistance of a therapist or counselor who is trained in helping couples work through issues related to gambling.

It's worth noting that if one partner has a gambling addiction, it may be more difficult to reconcile gambling in the relationship without this professional help because Gambling addiction is a serious condition that can have significant impacts on an individual's finances, relationships, and overall well-being.

I'm not sure if Neymar will leave PSG in the mid-year transfer market because PSG currently still need his role in attack. Maybe there really is a problem with the club regarding the recent decline in performance for PSG. Even if Neymar leaves PSG, of course there will be many top European clubs who will try to negotiate with him, is it possible that he will come to an EPL club? we know there is very competitive and can be a new challenge for Neymar.

Yes!!!!

As far as I've read, there is no doubt about Neymar's departure.
His end for Paris Saint-Germain is much closer than many of us imagined. Despite Neymar having had great games this season, his departure from PSG for next season is taken for granted, who says that is "Santi Aouna".

One factor that I think contributed to this is that "fight" that Neymar had with the director of PSG last weekend.
Neymar has always been a "boy with little patience" and as far as we know, he didn't take the harsh criticism he received after the 3-1 defeat against Monaco very well... there was a lot of discussion and a high tone of voice.

It's about time Neymar left PSG, but where will he go next?
1460  Economy / Gambling discussion / Sports betting fraud in Brazil 😦 on: February 16, 2023, 12:33:40 AM
It is estimated that the bettors would have profited approximately R$ 2 million (~US$ 383,130.00). Shocked

The fraud involved bribes for players, and among the main actions, it was necessary for the player to commit penalties in the first half of the games that were played. Each player received R$ 150,000 per bet for this act (~U$ 28,734.00).

In fact, this makes it much easier to earn money from sports betting.

Unfortunately these are situations that occur in several countries, but the amount of money involved always calls our attention.
In these cases, bets were placed on the competitions that we call "Series B", which is the second largest football championship in Brazil, in which the best classifieds guarantee a place for the main championship in the following year.
