1441  Economy / Micro Earnings / Re: CryptoHydrant Is Closing Down on: July 27, 2016, 02:46:57 PM
Sorry to see you guys go!
I logged in today and saw the disabled message. Sad
Was one of the cleaner sites. Good design, not a lot of junk and very easy to navigate.
Wish you good luck on your next project!
(Getting much harder to earn actual profits running a faucet from everything I have heard recently.)
1442  Other / Politics & Society / Re: The less you own, the more you have on: July 27, 2016, 01:37:41 PM
I feel like I would get along with you very well, Elwar.
As I was driving to work today I realized that its so awesome to not care about owning anything that I couldn't carry with me in one bag.
As long as I have a laptop, and an internet connection, I could be happy anywhere.
The less things I own the happier I am. Being mobile is amazing. The only things that matter are your experiences and your knowledge.
Don't get tied down with too many material possessions or you will spend your whole life worrying about things you can't take with you to the next life anyways!
1443  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: "North Carolina Leaps Forward with Blockchain-friendly Bill" on: July 27, 2016, 12:40:59 PM
Nice! I'm sure this is good news for bitcoin/ blockchain.
It's good to see people in government who actually realize the importance of technology and try and pass legislation to move the country forward.

Still not sure how I feel about Governor Pat McCrory, though.
North Carolina recently lost the NBA all star game, an event estimated to be worth close to $100 million dollars
The NBA pulled the event in response to "its objections to a North Carolina law that limits anti-discrimination protections for lesbian, gay, and transgender people."
(The law known as HB2 which defines which public bathroom a person can use.)

Good to see the Governor isn't a total idiot, even if he did make a huge mistake supporting the HB2 bill IMO.
1444  Economy / Economics / Re: Beware SCAM Fraud: Economic Frauds Detection & Prevention on: July 27, 2016, 10:44:12 AM
I am fairly certain most of the cases like this would be a class-action lawsuit,
and the lawyers would definitely not ask you to pay any money up front.
Law firms take their money from the winnings awarded in the case.
(Which is why they only take a case they think they can win in that sort of situation.)

Anyone asking for money up front is 100% a scam.
1445  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: How to sell stuffs online and earn Bitcoin? on: July 27, 2016, 10:36:27 AM
I don't understand why people get so hung up on "how do I do X to get bitcoin?"... why can't you just do X for normal fiat... and then convert that fiat to bitcoin?

Like, if you have stuff to sell... sell it on Ebay or craigslist or gumtree or whatever trading website is popular in your country... then take all your $$$ and go buy some bitcoin using localbitcoins or deposit it into an exchange and buy some bitcoins there...

It really doesn't matter if I do X for (US)$655 or X for 1 BTC... it all works out the same doesn't it? Huh

Yes, but a lot of the people asking this question may not have a way to earn a steady income.
That's why they are asking the question. They might not have a job or live in a country where earning bitcoin through signature campaigns and faucets is just as much as they could earn doing normal work.
However, if you have a decent job, you are right. It's pointless to waste your time with faucets and online surveys. Just do your job and convert some of your cash to Bitcoin.
1446  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Bitmain Idiots on: July 27, 2016, 10:27:33 AM
Everyone I've talked to said it took 7-10 days before they got a response from support.
Hopefully you hear back from them but I would see if you could find another way to contact them.
Maybe there is some sort of social media they check, or another email address you can find for the company?

You have already paid for the miners and the order says its shipped?
I think at this point you probably would not get a refund, unfortunately.
If they are brand new S9 miners maybe you can sell them without taking too much of a loss.
1447  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Any games that I can earn Bitcoin from? on: July 27, 2016, 02:17:26 AM
I've seen some sites where you can gamble Bitcoin on things like League of Legends professional matches,
but I don't think I've seen a game where you actually earn BTC by playing it.

You would not get much from a free game unless it was full of advertisements,
because the creators would need a way to generate income to pay the coins to users.
1448  Economy / Services / Re: YoBit.Net - Signature Campaign - Realtime Payouts (daily) on: July 26, 2016, 08:34:00 PM
Yeah I'm going to read through the thread and see if there was any instance like this before.
I'm very new to the campaign so idk if there has every been a period where payments weren't going out, or how long it lasted.
1449  Other / Meta / Re: How is this not spamming ? on: July 26, 2016, 07:54:19 PM
I thought most campaigns had requirements against one-line responses counting towards your post count?
Some of these people are posting short sentences in 90% of their posts.
I guess the campaign managers don't really care or aren't checking the content of their members.

And yeah its pretty easy to tell that some of those accounts are just alts with the same person posting multiple times to a thread.
1450  Economy / Services / Re: YoBit.Net - Signature Campaign - Realtime Payouts (daily) on: July 26, 2016, 06:33:55 PM
If bitdoger (a full member) can't join the campaign, and we are not able to get payouts currently,
maybe something bigger is going on?
They aren't ending the campaign are they?
1451  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Protect your node from spies and DDoS - Updated blacklist on: July 26, 2016, 06:06:35 PM

See guys, Tor is useful for more than just buying drugs on the darknet! Wink

That's so awesome! Thanks for posting this, I had no idea this was even possible.
I really need to dive into the command line of Core.
I feel like such a noob using these premade wallets like Electrum when I see all the things you can do with Core.

1452  Economy / Speculation / Re: Nights Watch by Afrikoin on: July 26, 2016, 05:53:26 PM
Posting to say thanks to Afrikoin for posting this podcast!
I'm going to give it a listen later today while I play some poker. Smiley

I'm also hoping some of you can point me towards a good resource for learning more about Elliot Wave Theory, etc.
I have a basic understanding of the graphs you are posting in this thread, but find it a fascinating topic and would love to learn more about this as I learn about investing, stocks, etc.
Thanks in advance for any tips/ info I can get!
1453  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Incentivizing Bitcoin Nodes on: July 26, 2016, 05:02:59 PM
I agree with Syke now, but what about in the future?
What happens down the road when all the coins are mined? Transaction fees from verifying transactions becomes the only way to earn money?

I know this is a long time from now, but it's something to think about.
Does anyone have any info as to what keeps the network going once all the available coins have been discovered?
1454  Other / Off-topic / Re: Michael Moore admits Donald J Trump will be president. Lists 5 reasons. Discuss! on: July 26, 2016, 04:48:45 PM

Trump also will address several core problems our incompetent bureaucrats have created:

1) Almost complete collapse of manufacturing in America
2) Hypocrisy of USA govt environmental regulations and labor laws that force companies to move operations over seas where they can pollute and exploit more than they ever would in the USA.
3) Lack of military investment.
4) Lack of any legitimate immigration policy

All of these problems create real-world disasters for a country and economy. You have to be a hippy-intellectual incompetent to invent the policies of the last 20 years... we won't undo them easily.

In 2015 54 percent of all federal discretionary spending, a total of $598.5 billion was spent on the military.
The United States has BY FAR the largest military budget of any country in the world.

I agree with your other points but anyone who says we need to increase military spending has some kind of agenda IMO.
(Probably work for Haliburton or one of the other contractors who profit off military spending.)
I would actually prefer that we used some of the military budge to secure our borders, even if this meant having US troops responsible for the border patrol.
We need to increase the budget for immigration and border security, and the money has to come from somewhere.

I guarantee if Haliburton was in the business of approving visa applications they would get a billion dollars funding overnight and the entire problem would be solved within three years.
(Because that's who really runs the country and if you think otherwise you're fucking delusional.)
1455  Other / Meta / Re: Does having a 2nd account here respect the ToS? on: July 26, 2016, 03:57:14 PM
I'm curious as to what legitimate use people would have for more than one account.
Obviously most people are going to make multiple accounts to join some signature campaign and answer their own threads to get more post counts,
or do some fraudulent transactions and get fake trust ratings.

Maybe there are real reasons you would need more than one account, but I can't think of any right now...
1456  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Avalon 16nm miner to be for sale in this September on: July 26, 2016, 01:44:26 PM
I really hope this is true.
Competition is always a good thing. One company being the only manufacturer of 16nm chips means they can charge whatever they want.

If the price of miners goes down, how does this affect the price of bitcoin?
Say the miners are a couple hundred dollars cheaper than an S9 unit...
More people buy miners or upgrade their gear.
More people have more hash power, but I guess the difficulty gets adjusted to match?
1457  Other / Off-topic / Re: Bank or Bitcoin Wallet? on: July 26, 2016, 01:39:04 PM
As much as I hate the banking industry, its still much more safe than Bitcoin is right now.
Banks have insurance on your money
(FDIC here in the United States)

Yes Bitcoin will still probably be around in the future, but for now I still treat it like a risky investment like stocks etc.
If BTC is still around in ten or twenty years I would have a much different view of it, but its still so new its really hard to trust IMO.
1458  Other / Meta / Re: I just hacked 3 and scammed 3 members. on: July 26, 2016, 12:39:33 PM
You would have to be delusional to think this database would be worth 100BTC lol.

Sure maybe some people used the same password for the website that they did on some financial account,
but anyone with half a brain is going to use different passwords for different sites,
and especially for any kind of Bitcoin wallet/ program.
(I'm assuming they put the price so high because people assumed you could use the info to steal coins from members.)
1459  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin will never reach $700 again on: July 26, 2016, 12:34:36 PM
Every time the price jumps up close to $660 we see a drop.
Are people unloading a ton of coins as the price goes up?
Interested to hear peoples theories why it spikes and then drops again so quickly every time it gets above $655
1460  Economy / Services / Re: YoBit.Net - Signature Campaign - Realtime Payouts (daily) on: July 26, 2016, 12:26:02 PM
Yes I think they need to put some coins in their wallet.
I have been unable to send payout to my account since yesterday morning.
Not a huge deal but I hope I can get my earnings transferred to balance in the next day or two.
