Sapphire is total crap. 4 cards died on me in the past month alone. One just died completely and three others had cooling fan failures. And no, they were only 73 degrees C hot...

Just a tip, your Power supply is too small...
1462  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Redis Down on Bitcoinica on: January 12, 2012, 03:09:43 PM
You might want to consider having staff on call at all times, as well as failover hardware.  Operating on a shoestring budget isn't going to cut it if you want people to continue to trust you with thousands of dollars.  I'm not upset about the outage, and you responded very well given the situation.  However, one must always work towards reliability when dealing with such large sums.

I agree! Bitcoinica is a mission critical project now. I'll consider your suggestion. Thanks!

I gotta hand it to you Zhou..   your professionalism is something you should be proud of.

Good work, keep it up..
1463  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoinica Problems any one? on: January 12, 2012, 12:54:00 PM

just tried to long a few coins at that price, the order was on the shelf for 8 mins before I cancelled it..

With my luck, it would spike back up to mtgox plus spread before it executes.. Roll Eyes
With me such already was...  Cheesy Cheesy

Dont understand your screen shot..

But im glad I cancelled it.. it spiked up to norms like I thought.. lol

1467  Other / Off-topic / Re: Let's make rainbows! on: January 12, 2012, 12:12:27 PM
nothing I've seen in this thread resembles a rainbow......

Happy now?

NO, unicorns are plenty grand but rainbows are a different story....

"Jesus christ! did you see that unicorn! ? its horn was so shiny !"  - Neil Patrick Harris

Its also relevant because Doogie is gay!
1468  Economy / Speculation / Re: And today there is no buying on bitcoinica on: January 12, 2012, 12:05:55 PM

These days most profits come from internal matches, which are not subject to Mt. Gox fees or market spreads. Bitcoinica will continue relying on Mt. Gox, but will definitely be cheaper than Mt. Gox in the future. (And yes, I don't lose money still.)

Hey Zhou, I can see your online, thanks for rectifying the problem soon Smiley
Good luck!

Here too.. Sad
1470  Economy / Speculation / Re: [Daily Speculation Poll] :: Bitcoiner Age Groups on: January 12, 2012, 01:53:30 AM
In SoCal, yes it is legal and I'm actually not sure why because it looks incredibly hair-ball unless cars are at a dead stop.  I'll probably ride for a week before I even try it.  It is going to feel nice cutting 30 minutes off my commute, though.  SoCal's freeways rarely run the speed limit at all anymore, lol.

I feel its best use would be after a red light, you mosey on up to the front, take off, rinse repeat..

1471  Economy / Speculation / Re: [Daily Speculation Poll] :: Bitcoiner Age Groups on: January 12, 2012, 01:14:15 AM
I'm more scared of learning how to split lanes than I am doing a rocky hillclimb, jumping things, or getting sideways on my dirt bike, lol.  But yeah, I know what you mean.  When I drive the freeways I drive like every single idiot is ready to turn their car into me at any moment for no reason whatsoever.  It's like an freakin' obstacle course just to get to work...and that's in a full size car!

Where are you ?  is lane splitting legal ?

Its not up here in canada, its very very dangerous.. but I cant count the times I've wanted to.. Tongue
1472  Economy / Speculation / Re: [Daily Speculation Poll] :: Bitcoiner Age Groups on: January 12, 2012, 12:53:28 AM
I'm 28.  Only about 6 years ago did I start paying attention to financial news, started watching the stock market, etc.  I've learned a lot about investing since then, and Bitcoin was my first real investment and first real trading experience.  I'm glad I took the gamble - I've purchased all my street bike safety gear and my MSF course with nothing but BTC profits, close to buying my bike from a friend now.

Awesome!

I have also invested in gear from BTC, I just wish I could buy gear IN btc..

Welcome rider, keep the shiny side up and the rubber down.. //

Ride safe! I hit bambi last year and removed my elbow, was riding in tshirt and jeans..  I learned my lesson, ATGATT

You dont wanna be like me an in the hospital asking how they are going to stitch me up and the nurses all laughing..

They said you have to have skin to stitch up first... :S

If I had my gear on, I could have walked away from the bambi slaying incident..

Heres a pic of the stupid cop that was about to eviscerate the baby dear with a shot gun.. Smiley

He was quickly called an idiot when the animal control yelled at him and said his side arm was much more relevant, and to get back, he has a needle for this sorta thing.

/snip

Ah shit man, you hit Bambi!!!  Well, I didn't skimp on my dirt bike safety gear and I definitely didn't skimp on my street bike gear either.  Still doesn't mean I won't get hurt.  Fell down in 1st gear learning how to slide the rear and tore up my knee again.  Buddy was wearing full gear on New Years and tried to take a little jump and ended up in a helicopter with 5 broken ribs, punctured lung, knocked out, air entering chest cavity under his skin, etc.  Motorcycles are just freakin' dangerous and I fully realize it.

Yes, they are VERY dangerous, but mostly due to retarded drivers...  Best tip I can give you is to ride like your invisible. No one sees you, specially woman drivers..  I've lost count of the mirrors I have kicked or punched from stupid people trying to "share" my lane..
I figure, if they arent using them, why should they be attached to their cars ? Smiley
1473  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BITCOIN booth at CES Las Vegas! Tell all reporters! on: January 12, 2012, 12:44:34 AM
Tony sent this photo to me just now,
Poor Alison, 5 days times 8 hours of continuous standing in stiletto heels.

Please, for the love of OSHA, somebody get her comfortable walking shoes.

I volunteer to carry Alison where ever she needs to go...
1474  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: "BTC is actually something you trade rather than something you use to buy stuff" on: January 12, 2012, 12:39:39 AM
Heh, I'm going to put this bucket on my head to prove a bucket is something you wear and not something you put lobster in.

LMFAO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
1475  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BITCOIN booth at CES Las Vegas! Tell all reporters! on: January 11, 2012, 11:31:45 PM
The "Bitcoin ATM" is on display at CES now.  Good attention getter. Lots of interest. I have laid out a dozen of my 25 BTC coins (stickers peeled) they make a nice visual aid.

who's project is this?

Yes, I would also like to know..

And is there any attention from reporter types ?

Does the bitcoin booths stick out as popular compared to other booths ?

Like cash in your own personal vault(mattress). Only digital.
1479  Economy / Speculation / Re: Estimate the true amount of resistence around 7-7.25 on: January 11, 2012, 07:07:37 PM
I don't know what the "true" resistance is, but I won't be selling either.  I have sell orders placed higher, however, as I think we'll be punching through soon enough.

OMG!!!!!! Im investing heavily due to this comment...  no joke..
